For 20+ years I was suffering from GERD and taking antacid and PPI medications. About 4 years ago, because of strong warning of my cardiologist regarding my high blood pressure, overweight, high blood sugar, I switched to a low carb diet. I lost ~40lb and normalized my blood sugar. To my surprise I also noticed, my GERD symptoms practically stopped. Since then, I've been on low carb - keto, taking ACV every day, no more medications, no more heartburn.

I am finding your information of great value. I am suffering from chronic acid reflux. Currently taking PPI and having some very undesirable side effects like hair loss, unfortunately. Interesting to observe that this condition showed up four months after I went full into a meat diet - 100% meat. I keep blaming the meat diet for my condition, but I am not sure what really causes the problem. Finding difficult to re-introduce meat, mainly eating sweet potatoes and some occasional salmon. Even drinking water can trigger acid reflux. I would appreciate some insights on this. Thank you for your work.
Bingo! I'm counting my lucky stars It only took me a couple months to figure this out, I don't know how you survived for 15 years! I cut out carbohydrates and fiber. Stick to mostly just carnivore. But also started supplementing taurine which seemed to help now I can drink milk again without getting chest pressure
Thank you so much Dr. I experiencing this Gerd and I search and search until I found your book about fast tract digestion and I really much interested because you've stated that there is microorganism involved with this disease and I think it make sense because others doesn't know about that, I believe in your theory
Would this mean we would be experiencing a lot of gas symptoms? I have some small burps after eating and drinking but don’t feel gassy in the my intestines or stomach. Thank you.
That is a good point Dr. Norm. If we eat something like eggs, sausage and ham every day for an extended period of time, weeks or months - wouldn't this bad bacteria that is causing the problem eventually die off? What if we add probiotics to replenish the good bacteria as well to speed up the process? Wouldn't that be an easier way to do this diet? Any idea how long we would have to eat a meat only diet like that to get our body back to normal?
Dr great video thank you I also watched ur LPR video and found it very interesting. I’ve been convinced for some time now that my nighttime reflux was caused by rising gases.I started drinking parsley shots since a short while ago and am noticing a difference in gas levels time will tell if this improves my Lpr will let you know more in time. Thanks again Dr
@@PQ_497 I totally forgot this. Nothing much have changed. My symptom was kind of the same as previous diet. I've never had a hearth burn or a regurgitation. I only had a yellow phlegm after waking up in the morning. So, I have to clear my throat every morning after finish brushing my teeth. I diagnosed myself that I actually have an LPR or as known as a silent reflux, and I've done my own research that in order to cure this is actually to change both the diet and lifestyles. I used to work at night and sleep during the day for many years before. I've just started to change this habit on 2nd of January this year. The source I found told me that it will take at least 2 to 3 months before the symptom is completely cured. By the way, thanks for reminding me this :)
I have suffered with Reflux for years and for many months I stopped using the medications. This week I suffered immense pain, was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with diverticulitis. Would the diet address the causes of diverticulitis? I was told I can never again eat strawberries, asparagus, onions, garlic, and other foods.
Diverticulosis is when pouches form buldging towards the outside of your intestines. Diverticulitis is when E. coli, K. pneumoniae, B. fragilis, and other bacteria cause inflammation in the pouches. Though speculative, it makes biological sense that limiting fermentable material in your diet would hinder the growth of these bacteria, potentially reducing the inflammation. Therfore, I agree with limiting garlic, onions and other highly fermentable food. Less so for strawberries and asparagus.
Try HCL betaine with supplements such as B12 and Magnesium. you will instantly get 90% fine, then you will have to keep nourishing the good bacteria by eating a bowl of veg(fiber), continue the HCL and avoid carbs as much as you can to reduce the bad bacteria. the HCL will also kill the bad bacteria that cant survive the acid just like stomach acid. if you continue HCL betaine you will start feeling improvements from 90 to 91% then 92% and all the way up to 100%. once you are fully fixed. stop all medications. it can take 1 month to a year, take HCL with protein meals not empty stomach. dont drink water for 90 minutes after you ate HCL. then after 90 minutes you can drink lots of water as needed.
Hi there Ive been battling with gastritis over a year now and the last 3 months I have started with excessive gas, so probably got sibo now as everytime I have gas it pushes acid up into my already burning stomach and esophagus. Would your diet be ok for me with the gastritis, not good at breaking protein or fats down but dont know whats in ure diet. Also ive lost alot of weight so its a struggle to keep weight on and really cant afford to lose anymore. Ive sent off for a sibo breath test which will test for both gasses. My intestines make strange popping gurgling noises after food, very weird lol.I was on ppis at one point but not any more thankgoodness Thankyou 😊
First, it's important to determine if it's fat or certain foods considered fatty that also contain carbs. French fries, fried chicken, fried fish etc., are considered fatty, but also contain appreciable carbs (potatoes, wheat or corn batter). If you are in fact having trouble digesting fats, the root cause needs to be determined and addressed. Otherwise, it will be very hard to limit carbs.
For my daughter, out chiro showed us how to push down her stomach while she is laying flat. It gives instant 90%relief about half of thr time maybe. Often I csn actually feel something move! Basically I reach uo under her left ribs, push my fingers In and down while she is exhaling/relaxing.
