    When I hear bloating is a symptom of SIBO if you are a female you need to know that bloating can also be a symptom of Ovarian Cancer. My wife was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer because of bloating. After a 30 month battle she lost the battle. Please if your doctor says your IBS and has not tested for Ovarian Cancer please get it checked.

      Gosh that's scary, I have a cyst on my ovary, showed up a few months ago. But the blood was clear for cancer. As I got tested at a cancer clinic due to a friend having treatment there. I had an MRI and blood work done. He did say there is a potential for it in the future after menopause. I will do whatever I can do to get rid of the cyst. But I have some spiritual issues as which I'm working removing. So a whole lots of bunch of problems. Mind u I get constipated and have had IBS since 14 years and that time my reproductive organs were absolutely fine

    Wow, I am so glad I watched this! I have suffered from IBS on and off most of my life. I recently had a Camphlobacterium colitis infection and had a great resurgence in my symptoms. I was going to talk to my Primary Care doc into getting me a GI consult to see if maybe this is SIBO. Now I am not going to wait til my physical next week but will contact her on Monday. Thanks so much!

      You want to do the TrioSmart Breath Test. It was designed by Dr. Pimentel and is the most accurate AND tests for methane whereas the others don't. Also, if you have a PPO I highly recommend Dahlia Marin of Married to Health. Dahlia is a GI certified dietician with a strong medical background and is very experienced with treating SIBO/IMO. She has helped me more than any doctor and was actually recommended by a GI. Since she sees patients virtually, location is not an issue. I hope you're getting the help and relief you deserve!

    This was a really interesting video - my doctor said yesterday that she wants to test me for SIBO. I want to stress how incredibly important it is to ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF. Odds are you will not be given the correct medication(s) for SIBO if you don't. Actually the odds are not good you will get offered the test if you don't even ask for it. I actually served up my symptoms to my doctor on a silver platter and he kept telling me to have fiber. So i went online and learned of SIBO. So i asked my doctor for the test and that's how i was able to find out. But that's not where it ends. I wasnt getting relief like i said and i looked at my own results to realize i have IMO which is similar but NOT the same as SIBO. Hence its own diagnosis. SIBO is specific to the small bowel whereas IMO is found anywhere in the digestive tract. Another reason to needing a systemic antibiotic. Rifaximin is not a systemic antibiotic. Anyways, when i brought this to my doctors attention, his response was: the test just said Hydrogen. What he meant was that the 6-word sentence from the lab just said "hydrogen sibo detected in this patient"
    The distressing part is that my doctor didn't look at the actual numbers. Just the finding. It's traumatizing bc you think over and over to yourself "what if i hadnt looked?" "What if i hadnt looked up what the numbers mean?" And not only does it create stress, but fear that something else is going on and if YOU don't find it, you will suffer. So it leads to even more googling of symptoms and how to treat what you know you have and what you might also have and such. And it wont limit itself to SIBO. It will instill that fear across the board.

      You are absolutely 💯 correct. Your story is my story. You stated it so perfectly. I diagnosed myself, with little to no help from the physicians using a FoodMarble Breath Analyzer. I am treating the condition and symptoms myself. I’m methane dominant. Fodzyme enzymes combined with Atrantil was my saving grace. No symptoms of Sibo when taken with meals, however eating foods not LowFODMAP is a risk that’s easily controlled by the enzymes mentioned above. I’m living fairly normal with no bloating or other IBS symptoms. Thanks for sharing your story. I know now that I’m not alone. I hope this helps others on this journey treating this condition.

      @@handsomed104 So many of us with SIBO/IMO have experienced this same thing. Please know that low FODMAP is not meant for the longterm. Malnutrition is the result of that. Dr. Pimentel's Low Fermentation Eating is very helpful and can be done longterm. I, too, am methane dominant but mine was so bad I could not heal it on my own. Check out Dahlia Marin of Married to Health. She is a GI certified dietician and knows more than most doctors. During our very first visit (she sees patients virtually) she told me immediately that she thought I had SIBO, when after years not one GI suggested that! I am now being seen at the GI Motility Clinic at Cedars Sinai, the very one started by Dr. Pimentel and I'm getting ready to have an endoscopy. Dr.Lim will be doing things that aren't usually done during routine endos, such as withdrawing fluid from my small intestine, along with a couple other things. I have the FoodMarble, too, but question its accuracy. Dahlia has helped me immensely and I am thrilled that I got in with Dr. Jane Lim at Cedars. She trained with Dr. Pimentel and his partner, Dr. Rezaie. Lastly, I don't mean to be picky, but this girl in this video keeps mispronouncing 'SIBO' and Dr. Pimentel's name! OMG! It's really bugging me! 😂

    Wouldn't a bacteriophage specifically designed to taget the exact klebsiella and e coli species be the best way to treat the sibo? And other gut bacterial infections/overgrowths as well? I dont know how much research is being done with phage therapy, but i would think in this era it is possible to genetically engineer bacteriophages for these bugs.

    • @secundusytp4517
      @secundusytp4517 9 месяцев назад +4

      The killing of the bugs is relatively straightforward. The difficulty is in getting the antimicrobials/antibiotics in contact with the bacteria. They often hide in biofilms so biofilm busters are needed. And the small intestine has the surface volume of a tennis court so there are many nooks and crannies where the bacteria can hide out. That's why it takes so long even despite these substances working nearly instantly in a petri dish.
      Then you also have to fix the root cause which is usually related to a disturbance in MMC function.

      You need to deal with your gut motility, called mmc, or motor migrating complex. The way to do that is by taking; get this: ginger and artichoke supplement. This will get your stomach working properly again, and it will therefore help eliminate harmful bacteria in your small intestine by moving them out of your digestive tract. If this doesn't help, sibo may not be your issue.

      Hi, thank you for you sharing some of your journey. While we cannot provide medical advice, have you considered working (or ever worked with) a GI expert registered dietitian? It sounds like you are doing several things at once so it may be challenging to determine which treatment is beneficial. Also, the low FODMAP diet is best undertaken with the guidance of an experienced RD as there are nuances to the low FODMAP diet (such as portion size, etc) and their are risks of nutritional deficiencies if foods are eliminated and not replaced with foods that provide the necessary nutrients. And RD can also help you identify foods that may be triggering your symptoms.

    But rifaximin isn't even necessary. You must get your migrating motor complex working properly again, or the bacterua come back! This is why there's a bacterial overload, because it's stuck and fermenting in the small intestine, leading to histamine intolerance, chronic fatigue, food intolerance, pots, duodenitus, etc. It's literally poisoning our bodies.
    The cheapest way is by taking ginger and artichoke supplement together. This stimulates the motor complex, pushing the food down. Focus on the migrating motor complex!

      @sizbowl there are many causes of slow mmc. Mine is stress. Then slowed mmc, then sibo. If you can address the migrating motor complex, it's a cheap ginger artichoke supplement, and it will move the sibo out of your small intestine, back down to the lower intestine.

      you can find monkfruit without any other added sweeteners! It’s the erythritol that cause gastrointestinal upset, headaches etc.

    Conventional drs I have talked with don’t believe in it.

    Is it only an intestinal issue?

    • @GastroGirl
      @GastroGirl  Год назад

      SIBO is found in the small intestine. However, some symptoms can also be indicative of (or overlap with) other GI issues so it is important to see healthcare provider/gastroenterologist who can make an accurate diagnosis. Here is some additional info from the Mayo Clinic www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/small-intestinal-bacterial-overgrowth/symptoms-causes/syc-20370168

      Thank you for your question.
      .SIBO has a variety of causes. These include chemical functions like low stomach acid and certain medications, and mechanical functions like small intestine dysmotility and structural problems in your small intestine. Source:Cleveland Clinic

    I am 68. I have been suffering since I was 16. I have been through so many tests with no positive solutions. The money I may as well just thrown out the window. I remember reading Dr Mark Pimental’s research when he was a man with dark black hair.
    Tonight gastro girl’s channel caught my attention. Nothing new here. 😢

      The drs. In Australia that discovered h.pylori way back in the early 80's stated that in the future they will probably find other pathogens.
      Keep in mind dr barry marshall had to infect himself to convince the medical community to believe him...that's how tough it is to make change in the boys club. We've yet to see another pathogen found by these Australian researchers.gotta make a person ponder
