They already know. Doctors only want to treat your symptoms, not your underlying condition or disease. THIS is how they make money. What most ppl don’t know is that there are legal drug dealers who show up at doctors offices to sell them on new medications. They ask the doctor to prescribe their patients THEIR meds instead of a competitors drugs, and when they prescribe a certain amount, they give the doctors a car, or free all expense paid trips for whole family to Europe, or many other expensive “gifts”. and all the Dr has to do is push these certain pills on the patients. Instead of the doctor actually looking to se what is causing the problem, it’s just easier to give them a pill for this and a pill for that. My stepfather was on over a dozen prescription pills. He just died at 67 yrs old.

Iv asked my doctor to get it removed and he said its nothing to worry about . Iv told him about low acid affecting the LES function and he said its nonsense. Iv been to 7 doctors including specialists and they all perscribe ppi's . Im losing this battle . Im weak all the time . I get sick very often . Im sad that my kids always see me ill .

One things that I dont agree with is saying "once you know what to do its easy". Eating a restrictive diet is certainly not easy for everyone and can have other side effects that make you feel worse than just having reflux. I have tried all natural remedies for GERD and they generally always seem to make it worse. Giving up coffee and eating a low carb diet leads to a complete halt of all bowel motility for me and makes me feel lethargic and depressed. HCL and other things to increase stomach acid also seems to make my GERD and stomach pain worse (most any supplements do). Stress over restrictive dieting is actually also a huge trigger for my reflux as I feel tense and guilty that I cant control myself or do things right. These are just some thoughts on saying "treating this condition is easy". This can be a very emotional condition as food is not simply sustenance to all people but something to be shared and enjoyed-- not an easy thing to do when living with GERD and other digestive issues.

My Dr gave me Rabeprazole for over 20 years, without even asking me about it at any other visits! I heard all about the bad things related to them here on YT and knew I had to get off of them! I spoke to a Locum Dr (my own Dr had jumped ship as soon as Covid began!) and he advised me to take half the dose for 2 weeks, after that, apart from YT I was on my own. However, I think I’ve cracked it, unless I eat something my stomach doesn’t like, especially chocolate! Whether I’m doing it completely correct I don’t know, but I am so glad I made the move over a year ago! Many thanks indeed Drs for your advice.

You need to know your triggers. Avoid sugar at all costs. It is the number 1 enemy. For a week, cook all your food in water only. In the morning get a bowl of oatmeal cooked in water. You can eat a banana as well with oatmeal. Do not drink and eat together. Keep 30 mins between eating and drinking. Yes, drink water only, no other drinks or beverages. Eat brown bread only. The food you can cook in water are carrots, beetroot, bottle gourd (if it's sour don't eat, should be sweet), pumpkin. The fruits you can have are bananas and papaya. Focus on eating foods high in fiber, dont overeat and dont drink after a meal. Try drinking mineral water with magnesium about an hour after a meal. Salt your meat so you can drink. Fish for fiber wherever you can. Try to blend your veggies into a cream soup and just swallow it. you should do fine with zucchini, pumpkin and carrit soup, then slowly add broccoli. Use a little bit of tumeric and ginger in your soups and on red meat but make sure it is cooked with it. Majoran and cumin should also help. Dont eat or drink 2 hours before sleep. Make sure you dont consume a lots of protein at night. If you feel like you ate something that irritated you, take 3-4 almonds immediately. You should always soak them overnight and then dry them out. Eat foods high in fiber, chew your food thoroughly and as soon as you feel full, stop eating.

Like I used to hide sweets and gorge on a whole bag of dried mangoes. I said I just wouldn’t eat cake and I wouldn’t partake in mangoes because I can’t control myself. She told me that’s ‘dieting’ and that’s bad. I’m sure intuitive eating works for some people but not people who are coming from a place of addiction. I was disappointed that even after I expressed I didn’t like the idea she still pushed it. Guess Kaiser only has one solution for the majority.

They already had to change the PPI because of it and I think they monitor my thyroid to for good measure. I feel like an experiment. A few years ago, after a iridology reading, a lady at a natural health product store saw my stroke damage-but she got what I needed to get well again after months of tests and no definitive conclusion. I had lost 40 pounds and could not digest anything without diarrhea or vomiting for about 6 months right after eating. The bone diagnosis came after this. Now I'm in PT trying to get my back straightened out again. I just want as normal a life as I can. I am going to try better with the food's thing, coffee, tea and chocolate, that will be a hard one to conquer-but if I can eliminate a medication, the better for it.

I never had a problem with acid reflux until I started taking Zopiclone for insomnia. I was already on an antidepressant. Then I got diagnosed with bipolar disorder and started taking Seroquel, and then the avalanche of psychotropic drugs began. My GP prescribed rabeprazole, and when that stopped working, he started me on omeprazole. When I moved to a different province that was not covered by pharmacare, so then I started taking Zantac, but I had to keep increasing that too. Then Zantac got taken off the market and I started taking Nexium. Same deal. Now I take 3 Nexium capsules a day and that's not enough. Almost 3 years ago I fell at work and I broke my kneecap and shattered my tibial plateau. I'm pretty sure I have osteoporosis, but I also don't want to get esophageal cancer. So I really don't know what to do.

One of which is omeprazole 80 mg 'per day for over a year. I dropped to 40 mg, then a week later dropped to 20 mg, then 20 mg every other day and thats when the heartburn came back on with a vengeance. I've started apple cider vinegar 3-4 x's per day. You have silent reflux. The acid is going into your throat and sinuses. The omeprazole lowers the acidity of it so you dont feel it burn as much but the acid is still there and is damaging your throat. Specially at night when you are sleeping, there are many steps you must take to stop it, and it will take weeks for it to get better. Its not just acid but also pepsin gas that goes up when your burp and whatnot. You need alkaline 8.8ph+ water to gargle and clear your throat and maybe swallow a little bit to clear your esophagus. You should raise the head of your bed so your chest is on an incline and sleep on your left side. You also shouldnt eat anything 3 hours before sleeping. Avoid drinking water with your food as it will lower the acidity and make it stay longer in your stomach. Remove certain foods from your diet, such as coffee, alcohol, tomato, chocolate, mint, fatty foods, cured foods such as hams. If you do this you should feel better after a few weeks.

I could really do with a functional doctor here in the UK if anyone knows of one!
Currently working my way through all the GORD videos as I absolutely don't want to go back on PPIS and I'm suffering.

There is one near Norwich, Innate Centre, Roger Wood, he is a functional health practitioner and chiropractor rather than doctor. I haven't visited him yet but am thinking about it. Costs £400 for initial 60-90 minute consultation.

I really enjoyed this podcast. I am just like the example your guest talked about. On all the same meds.
My GP gave me all these meds.
I already have changed my diet. Still, I just started another antacid over the counter in addition to pantoprazole that I've been taking for years. I would really to get off the meds.

Acid reflux occurs when the sphincter muscle at the lower end of your esophagus relaxes at the wrong time, allowing stomach acid to back up into your esophagus. This can cause heartburn and other signs and symptoms👍

I just finished listening to this and I suffered from GERD for over a decade. I did know that having low acid can make things more complicated. I’ve been on PPI’s much longer than prescribed. I was now diagnosed with Osteoporosis PPI’s side effects. I stopped taking it. My problem is worst. Help

I wish I was able to find a doctor like you guys, got diagnosed with h.pylori mid September and was not told about PPIs causing rebound reflux so I took the triple therapy and when I quit I got rebound reflux, it has gotten better but I've been doing my own research on how to calm symptoms without taking antiacids or PPIs...

Same here. I was given Nexium to prevent stomach ulcer while I was on pain medication. I’ve developed a stomach ache and reflux. It lasted over a year. I want to see a doctor when I was tested positive for H. pylori. During the second round of antibiotics, they had me take another ppl medication. It was even worse. I had a stomach and abdominal pain and bloating. I struggled to finish seven days course of the medication. It have been in the few months. I still have a sour taste. I’m looking for solutions right now。

@@denisemartin3603 Most of the time it is, but some of us aren't that lucky, unfortunately my stomach issues stem from too many rounds of antibiotics prior to taking the ones for H.Pylori. If you take so many antibiotics it ruins your gut biome and then you have to build it back up.

I have nodules on my vocal chords from always yelling and talking, but last year I would drink a lot of the powdered vitamin c drinks because of covid and every time I would get a sore throat. I think this is where I got the acid reflux problem from. We’ve gotta be careful of that stuff
