Man, burying the lede, Crystal was seeing Ramones at CBGBs in the 70s! That is so cool. Let's have a show of Crystal's favorite CBGB's gigs!
I think Rocket to Russia was my first and remains my fave. I sometimes balked at the crappy recording quality of the first album, similar to the first Clash, and Paul is right, the mono improves it. Only 14 songs on it, folks not 30, as it's only 29 minutes long. As always, Tommy is fulla sh*te, Too Tough to Die is a great album. On a clandestine road trip to Chicago for a punk show (Naked Raygun/Effigies/Big Black and more) in 1985, I'll always remember cranking the sequence of "Danger Zone," "Chasing the Night" and "Howling at the Moon" as we sped toward our punk adventure, the city's skyline looming ahead.
Good that yall are taking an extra week before 2015-17, because ya need it. I sent a Spotify playlist with donations nearly a month ago and I swear if any of you complain about the lack of good music without having listened to any of 'em I will book a flight to flog y'all with yr disgusting Swedish fishies.
Paulcore: Golden Void, Dungen, The Sonic Dawn, Jess and the Ancient Ones, Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats, The Butterscotch Cathedral, The Dandelion, Zebra Hunt, Jacco Gardner, Wand, Crystal Jacqueline, The Bright Light Social Hour, The Treasures of Mexico, Papernut Cambridge, Chook Race, James McArthur and the Head Gardners, Sunday & Cybele, The Black Watch. For starters, heh.
Crystalcore: Protomartyr, Algiers, Cold Showers, Baba Commandant and the Mandingo Band, Girls Names, Grave Pleasures, Marriages, Dele Sosimi, The Bright Light Social Hour, Tami Neilson.
Tommycore: Christian Mistress, Royal Headache, Royal Thunder, Baroness, Sunder, Ghost, Spidergawd, Kadavar, Valkyrie, Horisont, Tami Neilson.

Basically, folks, turns out it's a bad idea to try to have an email dialog through PayPal messages! Gabba gabba hey...Happy Thursday Pinheads!! Just joking, happy Thursday my amazing musical family!! What a great way to take a break from a dire decade called the 2010s as we talk about Ramones. I love Ramones and they really changed the game for bringing the garage rock feel but louder in the 70s. So here's my 14 studio albums ranking of Ramones before I headed to 53rd And 3rd.
    14. Acid Eaters

This is one of my very favorite episodes --hugely informational and entertaining, especially for people who love The Ramones but not uncritically. Praise deeserved for End of the Century (part two with Phil would have been a great idea, or better yet followed by Mutt Lange - super astute observations!). Also, Tommy gives props top the underrated Pleasant Dreams; and no one wears a Stiff Records T-shirt cooler than Crystal, whose background in Ramones history is a perfect legacy to remember the band's apex. Bravo! (Also, the guys wear cool shirts too! All of you are dapper.)

Oh, Tommy is gonna hate me. (Von Voight, not Ramone/Erdelyi.) Then again, a lot of people will probably hate me for this ranking, so he'll certainly have some company. And what, so subtle middle finger in your thumbnail? ;)
I'll start off by saying that the Ramones are one of those bands I was obsessed with and has meant a lot to me in my life. So much so that I haven't heard ALL their albums, but still. Ha. They first REALLY got my attention when VH1 were counting down the "100 Greatest Artists Of All Time" in 1998 or 1999. They played a clip from the video for Do You Remember Rock & Roll Radio and I dug how it sounded but sort of put it aside. I think I was looking into getting Ramones Mania or those two volumes Tommy was talking about. Then Joey went in the hospital for lymphoma. At the time, I was a member of the official Who message forum or Web Ring, whatever it was, where it was in email form and you can email back and forth with comments on and/or responses to any given topic related to the Who, and somehow, Joey's progress was a subject being discussed on there and I was following it. And then Joey dies. And for some reason, it just hit me. I got very emotional about it that night. Not sure why in hindsight. I mean it wasn't the first big "celebrity death" I'd experience, and it certainly wouldn't be the last (George Harrison died later that year too for one). Maybe because I was pulling for him and he looked like that "freaky" but cool dude who'd be one of the few kids in school that would've befriended me if we went to the same school at the same time. Ha. I dunno. I ended up getting that 1999 Rhino Anthology compilation. And it went on from there.
Like I alluded to in my comment for the 2014 albums video, I'll do a top 10, and I have a top 10. Or a Crystal and a half. ;) NONE of these albums I will say are bad or mediocre. They're all either good or great to me. It's possible if I hear the non-listed albums all the way through as well (Animal Boy, Halfway To Sanity, Brain Drain and Acid Eaters), I might feel the same about them too. (Maybe not so much Acid Eaters since it's a covers album, but I've surprised myself that way before, so who knows?) And like I said in the beginning of this comment, Tommy and most other people will not like this ranking. Fair warning. So, here goes:
    10. Too Tough To Die (Supposed to be a "return to form", but I wouldn't really go that far. Still, it's a good album. Might be the best one with Richie on board.)
    9. End Of The Century (I'm ducking! I'm ducking! Sorry, Tommy! Look, I've stood away from this album for the longest time. Besides Rock & Roll Radio and Danny Says and MAYBE Chinese Rock, nothing else really appealed to me, and I thought the version of Baby I Love You was hokey as hell. But I've softened on it. I actually really like the version of Baby I Love You now. It's my favorite Ronettes song, even more than Be My Baby anyway, and I found myself just loving Joey's vocal on it. Yes, the Ramones did have strings, and this is the album that has it thanks to the madman that was Phil Spector. I think the album is hit and miss when it comes to Phil's production. Some tracks where it works, others where it just falls slightly, though it's still good overall. The REAL reason why the Ramones and Phil Spector never worked again was, well, have you heard the stories about the making of this album? Phil holding them at gunpoint and forcing Johnny to play the same chord a million times and practically holding them hostage at his home etc.? Nah, I wouldn't wanna work with someone like that again either. Overall, it's a WAY better album that I initially thought it'd be going in, and I actually think Rock & Roll Radio is their best album opener. Even more than Blitzkrieg Bop. How's that for sacrilege? Want more? Look what I have above this one.)
    8. Subterranean Jungle (The only "odd" thing I can say about this album is how the drums sound. Other than that, I think it's good. I enjoy their versions of Little Bit O' Soul and Time Has Come Today. My-My Kind Of A Girl is one of my favorite Ramones songs. Yes, Outsider is on this one. I THINK THIS was the first Ramones album where Dee Dee sings lead on something and that's the song Time Bomb. Good underrated album here.)
    7. Adios Amigos (The sacrilege continues, I know. "They're becoming (or they became) a parody of themselves." No, they're the Ramones being the Ramones. If they did a disco album or a pop album or a rap album (Dee Dee probably would've stuck around longer if they did the latter, actually) or even that Mutt Lange-produced album that Tommy was drooling over (hehe), a big part of their fanbase would label them as "sell-outs". Hell, I'm sure they were labeled as such when they collaborated with Phil Spector and Graham Gouldman. Johnny probably would've had an even worser hissy fit than he usually would have over that too. Ha. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation there. I don't mind CJ's lead vocals. Of course I prefer Joey, but CJ added a nice touch, I think. Just makes the re-emergence of Joey's lead vocal as the albums play on even more special and welcoming. Yeah, Crusher isn't a GREAT track, but it's a fun one, I think. I guess because I am or was a big wrestling fan, I have a bit of an attachment to it. Ha. Interesting they were writing about wrestling right before it was to get big again. I wish Life's A Gas had closed the album, though. A nice closer with a nice message to what was their final studio album. But I guess since the last track had Dee Dee on it, they figured it'd be best to end it that way, and rightfully so.)
    6. Mondo Bizarro (If it makes you feel any better, Johnny hated this album too after a while. Ha. Ok, Touring is basically a rewrite of Rock & Roll High School and one of the other tracks is a slight rewrite of something off Brain Drain, but obviously I don't care. Ha! Any album with songs like I Won't Let It Happen, It's Gonna Be Alright, Tomorrow She Goes Away and Heidi Is A Headcase is gonna grab my positive attention.)
    5. Ramones (At this point, who cares about sacrilege? Ha. Like Crystal said, time and place. Sadly, I wasn't around when the Ramones first hit. If I was and got into them then, I'm sure this would be my no. 1. I envy anyone who got to see them perform live in the 1970s. That cousin of mine I've mentioned in the comments on these videos a few times who punched Jani Lane in the face got to see them around that time too. There's nothing I can say about this album that hasn't already been said, other than...)
    4. Leave Home (...their first and second album might as well be vol. 1 and vol. 2 or could be put together as a double album. They're inter-changeable to me, though as of now, I think this one has a slight edge over the first. One could argue it's their self-titled debut with a slight polish production wise and maybe even song quality wise too.)
(This is where I would put It's Alive if live albums counted. I know they released a few other live albums, but I think it's safe to say It's Alive is the only one that really matters. Ha.)
    3. Pleasant Dreams (Their MOST underrated album. Besides 10cc, Graham Gouldman also wrote songs for the Yardbirds (For Your Love, Heart Full Of Soul, Evil Hearted You), the Hollies (Bus Stop, Look Through Any Window), Herman's Hermits (Listen People, No Milk Today), and Jeff Beck (Tallyman). So, one would think he had their best interests at heart when it came to the style and sound they may have wanted. Certainly paid off, I think.)
    2. Road To Ruin (This is the album that probably should've made them huge since their previous one didn't. Well-produced, well-written songs. Like Legs McNeil said, they were great well-crafted pop songs. "Why weren't they played on the radio?!" 'Tis extremely odd.)
    1. Rocket To Russia (I've commented about this in the 1977 albums video how much I love this album and how it's my favorite Ramones album, one of my top 20 or top 10 favorite albums of all time. Just so good. So amazing. So much fun. LOVE their version of Do You Wanna Dance and enjoy the hell out of Surfin' Bird as well. Everything they could do and do well, especially at that time, is on this album, in my opinion. THIS should've been the album that made them big.)
Do we have to go back to 2015 next week? Can we rank John Denver albums or Blondie albums, or something like that instead? Oh, well. See 'yall then. ;)

Some great opinions and insight from you all there. I kinda liked the Ramones back in the 70's - especially It's Alive which was the ultimate party album for us - but can't claim to have been a huge mega fan as my mate was, but I remember when End of the Century came out going straight from the record shop back to his mum and dads to listen to it with him and we both looked at each other completely shocked as in "what is THIS??" - It didn't go down too well at the time. He got off The Ramones train then - me too to an extent as I didn't bother much until Too Tough to Die came out and I re acquainted myself with what went before and got to know stuff I hadn't heard . I still have a few issues with that album but there were a handful of songs on it I really liked at the time (but I still prefer the Heartbreakers version of Chinese Rocks) and I quite like it now (EotC) and as such it would probably be no. 7 on my list below 6. Pleasant Dreams 5. Too Tough to Die 4. Road to Ruin 3. Ramones 2. Rocket to Russia and finally 1. Leave Home. I never got around to getting Halfway to Sanity, Animal Boy or Acid Eaters - because having heard them I decided I didn't need them but of the other three that I did pick up along the way Subterranean Jungle beats out Adios and Mondo easily for me. I sometimes think I should pick the missing 3 up to complete the collection...even just a couple of months back - yet somehow I resisted 🤔

I simply take exception to the fact that one of the two major political parties is actively trying to roll back civil rights, suppress voting, and deny science. I cannot take the GOP seriously, nor can I take anyone who votes for Republicans seriously. Freedom of political thought is a wonderful thing. Fabricating your own reality to fit a disturbing world view is something else entirely.

I think Tommy was very clear here - “What I was alluding to when I made that remark are
Johnny's known political leanings, which put him at odds with the rest of the band (Joey in particular), along with many punk fans.”
      I thought it was obvious.
Aside from damaging the band - I, and many of my friends got turned off by his politics…mostly because the party he favored directly did (and continue to) damage to us and others like us.

One of the funnest Ramones songs is not by the Ramones. It's by Motorhead! R A M O N E S Ramones! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.A.M.O.N.E.S.

one of their best songs is their cover of the Spider-Man theme song. It's on the same album that has Sublime doing the Hong Kong Phooey theme song. both are awesomeen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturday_Morning:_Cartoons%27_Greatest_Hits

My #1: Rocket To Russia, simply because Rockaway Beach is the greatest song in the history of mankind.
