So many of Bowie’s album covers are so awesome and they’re often so spontaneously thought up and made, like the Aladdin Sane cover, but somehow they still work amazingly! 🤩✨

What a brilliant idea, Paul! Really looking forward to this, as so many Bowie album covers are truly iconic and genuine works of art. I can only imagine how much time this must have taken you to rank them, and I’m already wondering what your #1 is going to be 🤔

Well awwwright...Happy Monday Paul. Loving the look on you. Don't worry, I'm not going to do the Loving The Alien reference...though the song and video is awesome. Well the single version. Anyway, this list reminds me of the Vic character that Bowie played on Jazzin' For Blue Jean where he said, "your record sleeves are better than your albums" or something like that which, in a way, is true LOL. So here's my 10 favorite album covers from The Man Who Fell On Earth and Sold The World...thank you!! Please, no autographs!
    10. Lodger (just like he got the same suit that he wore on the Boys Keep Swinging video but with his hand...well, I think that's around the time that him and Lou Reed got into it...take notes Drake and Kendrick)
    9. David Bowie II/Man Of Words, Man Of Music/Space Oddity (well I'm cheating on this one because this is not only a cover of Bowie's face...it depends on which version but I'm picking the 1969 version and the back cover has the artwork from George Underwood, his friend who also was the one who...um, changed David's career forever for his eye. And also, George also did the album artwork for The Fixx too like Beautiful Friction...see my list of one of the 2010s albums list...Reach The Beach and others.)
    8. The Next Day (well I would explain it but see my 2013 list...spoiler alert)
    7. Let's Dance (yes it's basic but this is where David felt much healthier and cleaner than he was in the mid-70s so this was him letting everyone know that he's not going anywhere)
    6. The Man Who Sold The World (the UK version of him wearing The Fish dress...enough said)
    5. Scary Monsters (love, love, love the album art. It's him in that outfit from the Ashes To Ashes video and showing us fans and music lovers that he has survived in the 70s...hence majority of the past album arts from the 70s albums...and that he's still here within the new art decade...pun intended)
    4. Aladdin Sane (classic iconic album art...enough said)
    3. Blackstar (see my number one 2016 album list...another spoiler alert)
    2. The Rise and Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars (what else is to say about that cover?)
    1. Hunky Dory (see my Ziggy Stardust comment).

@@AsItShouldBePodcast You got me Paul I'm guilty LOL!! As a fan of Bowie, I figure to give my favorite album covers that he's done over the years and there are number of covers where I do agree that's better than the album itself but with his 70s album art...iconic

I like how you do shows such as these it's way more fun than the traditional albums ranked shows and album art is such a fascinating topic to talk about my favorite David Bowie album covers are Aladdin sane, station to station, young Americans, Ziggy Stardust and let's dance I've always loved let's dance because it was the first David Bowie album I ever owned and he looks so cool and bad ass in that boxers pose

I've never really liked the Young American's cover, but its cool to see what it was based on etc. A Norman Rockwell cover would have been interesting. My favorite would probably be Low or Aladdin Sane

PIN UPS is the best cover ever. Even Twiggy, (who surly had made hundreds and hundreds of photo shots for all kind of magazines by this point) said it was her best photo participation ever. Other great album covers are Alladin Sane and Heroes.

What a unique topic Paul. Hmmmm.

    • @UniversalBlackRocker
      @UniversalBlackRocker 2 месяца назад +2

Well I can help you out on that one. Well David used the hand gesture as Iggy Pop did for The Idiot album art...which came out the same year as Heroes but months earlier...so the way Iggy did it was he used his right hand up near his face so months later after that David used that pose but uses his left hand because David was really left handed. So it was David's owe to Iggy's The Idiot album art that became one of many classic Bowie's artwork

Hi Michele!! Great choices on David's album art. But the Diamond Dogs album cover...yeah, why did people want to spend almost a million dollars over the controversial original album art and it's kinda odd? But then again, I can tolerate that more than any Neil Breen movies nowadays...LOL!! But Low and Heroes covers...amazing.

There were 2 albums that were called David Bowie I may be wrong as it may be different in the USA but here the 1967 album wasn’t re packaged as Space Oddity it was his David Bowie album on Phillips not Deram? I think it’s right?

    In my humble opinion:
    The best:
    1. Aladdin Sane
    2. Low
    3. Diamond Dogs
    4. Heroes
    5. Pin Ups
    The worst:
    1. Never Let Me Down
    2. Outside
    3. Reality
    4. Hours
    5. The Next Day
The Buddah Of Suburbia (awful), only is a BSO
