Hi guys! It's high time for me to say thanks for and congratulate you on some of the most entertaining music-related content on RUclips! I've enjoyed all your videos (singles, records, rankings...) and am always looking forward to seeing more from the world famous As It Should Be Studios. I mostly agree, disagree sometimes and have definitely been made aware of some great music, cheers.
Since I haven't read the comments on the videos (sorry), I was wondering: Paul - have any viewers mentioned the band Bronco Bullfrog to you, or do you kow them already? I'm not telling you that they're right up your alley... but I'm sure you'd like them. 😆 60s as hell, great melodies, good songs. Anyway, thanks again! Greetings from Switzerland, Nick

I was stunned by how good Joe Jackson's Fast Forward album was. And his voice is the same as it was in the 70s. Remarkable. The album that followed 'Fool' is also really excellent. He put out a strange album a few months that I did not care for, but the guy's still got it.

Another tough year, 2015, but there were three very good releases I picked up. The Car Seat Headrest "comp" Teens of Style was released. A solid album delivered to Matador made up of songs that were previously released on electronic format only, but remastered for vinyl. "Maud Gone" and "Times to Die" are excellent. And there was John Grant's "Gray Tickles, Black Pressure." Also a very solid album. I still need to add that Tame Impala record to my collection. Another good one from 2015 is Mdou Moctar - Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai, which translates to Red Rain with a Little Blue Mixed In. Prince was a major influence on Mdou Moctar's guitar playing. It's a 5-star album.

Howdy friends, howdy neighbors, howdy doody! It is 2015, and I have 4, count 'em, 4 albums ranked for the year, and I'm happy to say it's all (mostly, counting the band at no. 3 having male members as well) ladies. So here goes:
    4. Greasepaint Smile - Elyse Weinberg (Interesting Paul mentioned that Dusty Springfield album that was recorded in 1971 but wasn't released until 2015 and he decided to leave it off his list because of that. Well, here's an album that was recorded in 1969 but remained officially unreleased until 2015, and I'm putting it on my list because.... I DO WHAT I WANT! ;) Well, that and the fact that it'll leave me with just 3 for the year. Not too uncommon now, but still. Ha. Elyse was a Canadian singer/songwriter who had released her debut and this was gonna be her follow-up but remained shelved due to the label she was on, which was co-owned by Bill Cosby, btw....., going belly-up. Features some cool lead guitar playing by Neil Young as well as contributions from Nils Lofgren, both of whom had appeared on her previous album as well. Cool stuff. Sadly, she died in 2020, but thankfully, she lived to see this album finally get an official release.)
    3. Sound & Color - Alabama Shakes (Don't Wanna Fight No More was indeed the single since I remember them everywhere on TV at the time performing that song. Can't help but think it may have been inspired by that episode of Martin where he's boxing Thomas "Hitman" Hearns and after literally being flown up against the wall, Martin whimpering over and over, "I don't wanna fight no more". Probably not, but I can't help but think of that whenever I hear it. Ha. Gimme All Your Love friggin' SMOKES too. Brittany's indeed amazing. Haven't heard her solo stuff yet, though. I might dig it. Might not. We'll see.)
    2. Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit - Courtney Barnett (I do enjoy quirky lyrics and "garagy" melodic songs, and this has that in spades. Seems she hasn't released anything really worthwhile since so far, unfortunately, but this is still very cool.)
    1. Introducing Darlene Love - Darlene Love (Stevie Van Zandt promised he'd produce an album for her as far back as the 1980s or so. Better late than never, I guess? Certainly worth the wait. FABULOUS stuff here. Songwriting contributions from the likes of Elvis Costello, Linda Perry, Jimmy Webb, and of course Stevie Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen, a duet with Bill Medley, versions of River Deep Mountain High and even Joan Jett's Little Liar! Well worth your time, I think, if you haven't heard it.)
I wouldn't say the Pope's Wake Up is bad. Just something that's for a particular audience of which most of us here anyway aren't a part of.
It's possible if that Four Seasons song was on that Lizzo album, I'd be more interested in it. Same with Giorgio Moroder's Deja Vu if it was him doing CSNY's album of the same name.
Butterscotch Cathedral might be the best band name I've heard in a long time.
I like the Odessey And Oracle album cover, actually.
Aw, Gilbert Gottfried. Thanks for that. I hope you're aware of his Paul Williams impression. Hehe. And knowing Gilbert, I'm sure Snoop paid for that whole meal himself and Gilbert didn't even offer a cent. Ha! (No, that's not an antisemitic joke. Gilbert was infamous for being cheap. It was a running joke on his podcast, in his documentary, and in that Wife Swap episode he did with Alan Thicke. Oh, have I mentioned on here that I'm a Gilbert Gottfried fan? The only stand-up comedy show I've ever attended, actually. Hehe.)
'Tis a good idea to have therapists in school, though they'll probably say that's what guidance counselors are for. I think Crystal would make a good school therapist, actually. Oh, and I think her birthday is around the time of this video's posting as well, so Happy Birthday Crystal! :)

Another fun show that I've enjoyed but I have to get something off my chest 🙂 I am someone that loves classic hard rock and heavy metal bands. I get it when people don't like that kind of music but that doesn't mean you have to put some of these great bands on your hatelist merely for still putting out albums. Especially when some of these bands still put out great albums in my humble opinion. Maybe you never liked bands like Blue Oyster Cult, Judas Priest, Ufo, Accept, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Motorhead, Scorpions, Saxon and Iron Maiden but I am greatful that there are bands still releasing albums that I enjoy very much. So Crystal please stop putting bands on your hatelist merely because they are old 🙂 You may not like (even hate) the music but I think there is no denying the musicianship of these bands and their committment and love for their music. No hard feelings! 😘

I’m not sure how long you’ve been watching, but…
1 - I also dig a lot of the old school metal bands.
2 - I’ve already explained why I put the classic bands on my hate list.
Please note that I say their names like I’m asking a question, because I don’t want to have a third list, and the surprise that they’re still making albums many decades after their heyday.
I also DO listen to everything I list, be it a few songs or the whole album, and lots of their later stuff is not good…AND Paul and Tommy usually agree, and sometimes go off about them, getting into musicianship, etc.
Anyway, in the words of Tommy, “I DO WHAT I WANT!”

Seriously, can we go back to the 70s? No, okay!!
    My Top 6:
    6. Mark Ronson - Uptown Special
    5. Keith Richards - Crosseyed Heart
    4. Chris Stapleton - Traveller
    3. Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly
    2. Kelly Clarkson - Piece By Piece
    1. Alabama Shakes - Sound & Color
    My Worst Of 2015:
    Anything by Rae Sremmurd
    Anything by Meghan Trainer
    Madonna - Rebel Heart
    Anything by Future
    Anything by Fall Out Boy
    Anything by Fifth Harmony
    Anything by Papa Roach
    Anything by AJR
    Anything by Twenty One Pilots
    Anything by A$AP Rocky
And my worst of 2015 goes to:
Anything by Migos (as a matter of fact...anything mumble rap related)
That's my 2015 list. I'm not ready for 2016 but I will be ready to see what everyone have on their lists.

Hi Christian! I have not heard that New Order album (shocking I know!) So, I look forward to listening to it and I’m happy you included it. I’m so curious what you will choose from my list. Hope you’re enjoying your Thursday evening.

@@michelewiese48 What?! Wow! Just kidding, Michele 😉 You’re still one of the coolest, most dedicated New Order fans I know of 👍🏻👍🏻 It must have been an incredibly difficult choice for you this week to pick an album from my list! I’m still mulling yours over… I really wanted to choose The Soft Moon or Father John Misty, but the explorer in me is gravitating towards choosing an artist/album I’ve heard nothing by 🤔 What’s a Christian to do? I’ll keep thinking it over….
I’ve had a very tiring but very rewarding Thursday, thanks 🙏 I’ve been commemorating D-Day firstly with a client for work; then with family in the evening. I do sincerely hope your Thursday has been a great one x

I'm guessing Paul already knew The Butterscotch Cathedral, clearly no one checked out anything I or anyone else in recommended in the comments this past month. FYI Butterscotch Cathedral is a psych pop one-off by Matt Rendon of Tuscon's The Resonars. Paul would like their albums too, garage psych and power pop.
