Faith is such a beautiful lady! She’s obviously been through so much and wants to put an end to the suffering of kids and women. By becoming a lawyer, Faith is in a great position to help more women and children. Congratulations to her for doing that, it’s no small feat! You’re an incredible woman Faith and I hope an inspiration to many young women. ❤️ She’s very brave like you Shelise and I love the little shout out she gave you at the end. This was a really good episode. I love the mention of setting boundaries doesn’t necessarily mean you’re being selfish. Also @cultstoconsciousness have you thought of trying to reach out to any of the twin flame universe ex cult members?
I have so much respect for Faith and her lifelong hunger for knowledge and perspective that lead her to where she is now. Faith, you are truly an inspiration!
Kudos to Faith Jones for her courage, vision, clarity, and commitment. You are an asset to people in general and women in particular. And to Shelise, as always, you ask very sensitive and astute questions and bring excellent guests onto your show. I wanted to recommend someone whose book I finished reading this morning. Her name is Jayanti Tamm and her book is called CARTWHEELS IN A SARI. She left the Sri Chinmoy cult and has a fascinating story. Today, she teaches English in a college, is married, has kids and really has reclaimed her life.
This is one of your best, most informative videos on cults because this woman is very well educated and able to analyze what went on and put it in perspective as opposed to simply recounting the abusive experience of living in a cult. This woman can be a powerful force against cults and helping the victims of cults recover.
Faith Jones, you are a goddamn genius!! 🤯 The principals you describe truly are the basis of human morality, laid out with such clarity. When people ask “well how can you have morality without religion?” I’ve always known there was something fundamental but never crystallized it for myself. Thank you to the moon for doing that work! It’s something I will carry with me now, and will especially teach to my young daughter 🙏🏻✨♥️
Thank you for continuing to give a platform for survivors who need their voices heard. It’s really horrifying to keep learning how property “has more rights” than people (especially women and children) do.
What a really intelligent woman. I really enjoyed hearing about her journey and especially the breakdown of the laws. Thank you for sharing your story and knowledge. You have taught me a lot!!
I read Faith's book and that was pretty hard to get through. I understand how idealistic people can get sucked into that, but it's staggering how so many people could contend with the abuse. As a brief member of another cult I can say that idealistic people will seek others, but I clearly saw the flaws in that organization. Aside from the abuse, the lack of autonomy is destructive. Faith talks about how hard it was to adapt to the regular world. That's the ultimate evil! I still don't see how she ended up a lawyer, but I now believe there's a higher power that will guide you to your ultimate destination.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. You have added to the breakthroughs I've had in my own recovery from high control groups. I felt so much shame for my sexual history. It led to me having multiple surgeries and being in menopause at 34. It never registered that I was taught a mans arousal was my responsibility, that I couldn't say no. It never connected in my brain until I heard you say it. It will be nice once I can release the shame for these "encounters" I've had in life.
The Secret Garden was my first favorite novel too, still have found thoughts whenever reminded of it. Faith has so MANY words of wisdom to share - thank you! You're the embodiment of changing poison into medicine
"Getting revelations". That phrase makes me gag. I am an oldster, and I still don't get why some people believe other people just because they claim that they have received revelation/s. There seem to be vast swaths of humans who either have no common sense or have argued themselves out of their own common sense. Just saying. I do appreciate your channel, Shelise!
I’m an ‘oldster’ also, and the thing is that anyone, given the right set of circumstances, can fall for this. The tactics are the same ones that individual abusers use. And like we see here, the folks thought they were a group of Christians doing Jesus’ work. Then he separates them from everyone else and convinces them that the Devil is sending minions to persecute them. Then he slowly introduced the horror, saying it was ‘revelation.’ It’s exactly what Joseph Smith did.
I would suggest you also watch Blown for Good-escaping Scientology. You can see really clearly there that these folks are not weak, stupid, or any of that crap.
That was eye opening. I wasn't brought up in a cult, but was brought up in the 60s/70s in Scotland and always struggled with boundaries. I, too, thought that if I had "led him on" I had to go all the way. Many, many times. Also, I always give full body hugs! Is that not a thing? I discovered last year at the age of 59 that I'm ADHD, and it really helped me to realise why I never fit in, and thought I was just crap at life. So you're not just helping cult survivors! Thank you❤
Thank you for relating the level of mind control that a cult leader can possess to domestic abuse (one spouse or family unit). This hit hard for me. You are both incredibly brave women and I value your voices.
Wow! I learned so much in this video. Faith Jones is amazing. Shelise, please introduce her to Aaron! It would be so cool to hear them discuss the contracts that children sign in the cult of Scientology. I think she could be very helpful to that community. Thank you 💜
What an inspiring woman. One of your best interviews. I learned so much and loved the explanation of the moral principles. I wish I knew this when I was much younger.
I loved what she had to say about digging into the Bible!! This is so true! There can be biases in the translations! When we take the time to study and understand the Bible we realize that these cults perverse scripture! I love what Jinger Dugger (I forget her married name) calls it “disentanglement” instead of “deconstruction”. The enemy knows the Bible as well. The enemy of our souls knows the Bible so well that he can slip in lies and make them sound good! When we know the true living Word of God. We can’t help but realize He loves us and never wants us to be treated wrongly. That is where free will comes in…. A whole other topic, too much to get into here. Thanks for another great interview!!
I fully appreciate how talking about principles is extremely difficult. It's so difficult to simplify them for the sake of getting through, and l am extremely grateful and thankful for a channel like this which allows individuals to talk through what they have been through and discovered/ learned for themselves. It allows me to connect, without thinking or feeling that, because I haven't gone through the exact same experience, mine isn't valid. There's so much I can connect with, even if our actual experiences have not been exactly the same, and we are not the same type of person, even though we share commonalities. Thank you. I am so tired of the endless " fix it" , and 5 to ..... steps to growing type channels. Genuine sharing is for me the most vital. Thank you for not endlessly interrupting and asking questions .
I am soooooooooooooo happy she brought up how hell isn't even how it's described by most. YAS QUEEN! YES!!!!! Believe the Bible or not, it's amazing to see that shelf get broken. Also the concept of the ancient Jewish belief that the soul dies. I literally shouted out in excitement when she said that. NO ONE talks about that. That rediscovery is exactly what I went through. AND the translation thing. Absolutely 100%. So much does NOT come through. The nail in the coffin on that one is how she said she's through people telling her how to interpret something. That's the point of coming to an independent consciousness.
@@BognaZone I'm talking about the Hebrew word נפש (nephesh) which is often translated as "soul." Leviticus 21:11, the "dead body" referenced is "dead nephesh." I won't get into this further, but all I was saying was that I was so happy she was reading it without the filter of what she is told to believe. Unfortunately, writing so adamantly that the soul doesn't die kind of proves the point of how unwilling many are to think outside the box. 我不想争论。我的意思只是她现在能自己查经, 不要老听别人说的,能独立得查、独立得想。我们每一个人有个脑,自己用就好。
Her points about the depth of translation problems is phenomenal. It makes a huge difference when it comes to Sanskrit scriptures too!!!!! I REALLY appreciate this woman’s journey , love for God, and depth
This was absolutely fascinating! Faith, you have such beautiful insight. Lisa, you are always amazing, and such an inspirational interviewer and host. Thank you both.
*Faith,* you are AMAZING!! From TED to this interview and everything in between, you are so well versed in capturing ideas and relaying them to help others understand things (and ourselves) we couldn't quite put into words/work through. Your work aids in identifying and understanding things, even down to our most basic or hard to express moral principles. You're a driving force in these conversations! We all know that identifying things (especially when raised in a cult where you are cut off from your individuality and personal feelings) can be a feat that many struggle with. Props to you for being able to take charge of the traumas you endured and utilize your experiences in such a beautiful way to aid yourself and others.. So many people never get that, or even understand that concept. Many blessings to you to continue your work to help others understand how to start ownership of their body.
I love that Faith's goal is the same as your: individual sovereignty. She is so right that this is an issue that permeates all of society with women tending to be seen as -- and compared to -- objects. Then incels genuinely feel like that have the RIGHT to sex and women who dont have sex with them are denying their rights. Thank you so much for bringing Faith on. Faith, thank you for your strength and sharing your very difficult story. I love it! The logic and intelligence, and the simple principl(es), ...Einstein, respect!! Wouldn’t have been possible with a cult mind, but with consciousness! I would love to apply this to animal and plant rights, which can be tricky when you step on a snail 😉 but we are sharing this planet and groups of cultishly influenced people are the threat to each other and nature in general. It freaks me out that you can be born into some countries or families and your rights are violated from day 1... Shelise, another awesome interview!! ❤️💃🏻
Many of the interviews you do are thoughtful and important. I mean the following as constructive feedback. I have clicked off videos early when I have heard terms misused. Most recently, the term trauma bond was used to describe a connection people can feel when sharing stories of hardship. That is not what a trauma bond is. A trauma bond really occurs between the perpetrator of harm and the recipient. Please offer clarification if you purposely use terms incorrectly. Many people use this term to mean a friendship of two people who share a similar background and I understand the conversational value of using terms in this manner. If you are unfamiliar with the accurate meaning of terms, please learn them. For clarity, I cannot remember what recent video had this issue and I have not listened to this video yet. Perhaps this oversight has been addressed.
Thank you so much for this. I work since decades with Feminist Self Defence. This concrete way of comparing ownership of the body to ownership of possessions I will definitely explore. I have done things similar to that. I guess that comes naturally when training to for instance practicing strategies for keeping an item, when someone is trying to take it from you - and then in diffent ways compare that to different aspects of your own safety and integrity. But to see it conceptualised by a lawyer seems very interesting. For me this comparison between different kind of systems is very useful to easier see similarities in patterns and structures. Comparing mainstream societies with cults and relationships considered normal with obviously abusive ones. By the way. Our human rights (the convention) was written for only men, which wasn't changed until shortly before it was made an official document. That is so telling. And that is why we need the CEDAW and the Istanbul document.
1:12:36 - oh my goodnesssss!!! As a Hebraic believer, I am a “Christian,” living in the Bible Belt, raised on hell, fire and brimstone, that doesn’t believe in an eternal hell. In my whole life I have only ever met one other person who believes this way, I would really really like to meet this woman!!
I am a Universalist. I believe there is a hell but it's not punishment but a state we get ourselves into. And I believe Hell is either empty or it is just until the end of time and not for eternity. (Different things) I believe all beings will be reconsiled in the end.
So much insight from these children of God survivors, wider ramifications for us all… how cult principles are being employed by the military and countries like the US at large…

It's fascinating that you're talking about moral law, and the basis for the things we all hold true, its almost the exact same thing that Catholicism teaches, called Natural Law. Which is essentially the moral truths that every human instinctively knows, regardless of creed. Things like murder, theft, etc. I really like the way you've laid out how they are all intimately connected and lead into one another.

By becoming a lawyer, Faith is in a great position to help more women and children. Congratulations to her for doing that, it’s no small feat! You’re an incredible woman Faith and I hope an inspiration to many young women. ❤️
She’s very brave like you Shelise and I love the little shout out she gave you at the end. I’m so proud of you both! ❤️❤️🤗🤗
Thank you, Jojo! I’m so proud of her as well and we just met lol.
This was a really good episode. I love the mention of setting boundaries doesn’t necessarily mean you’re being selfish. Also @cultstoconsciousness have you thought of trying to reach out to any of the twin flame universe ex cult members?
Thank you for sharing your experience and your trauma with such courage❤
Faith is AMAZING! Such a journey from Cult to self assurance …
I am in AWE of this Woman! Thank you ❤
I really loved this episode. I'm blown away at the simplicity of those principles. Excellent job, both of you! ❤
My thoughts exactly!
It's exactly the same moral framework of basic neo-lockean libertarianism
Thank you for having the courage to speak out, you will have opened so many eyes and ears and saved lives❤❤❤❤❤
Excellent interview. Faith seems a very smart and strong lady - living proof your past need not define your present.
Thank you for sharing your story.
Very sad that Faith was abused at such a young age. Faith seems to have grown into a strong virtuous person. Thank you.
The Secret Garden was my first favorite novel too, still have found thoughts whenever reminded of it. Faith has so MANY words of wisdom to share - thank you! You're the embodiment of changing poison into medicine
Great interview!! I love the last part of the interview: principles class! This should be taught in schools and the workplace. Well articulated!
"Getting revelations". That phrase makes me gag. I am an oldster, and I still don't get why some people believe other people just because they claim that they have received revelation/s. There seem to be vast swaths of humans who either have no common sense or have argued themselves out of their own common sense. Just saying. I do appreciate your channel, Shelise!
what a brilliant guest!
Thank you❤
Such a powerful message for young girls! Thank you for sharing your story and triumph.
Another wonderful interview. Many thanks
I'm so grateful for this interview and others that you've done with members from this group - they help me so much make sense of what happened to me.
Thank you for relating the level of mind control that a cult leader can possess to domestic abuse (one spouse or family unit). This hit hard for me.
You are both incredibly brave women and I value your voices.
This woman is truly amazing -- so thankful for her substantial healing-- such an inspiration!
The 5 rings! Wow! Thanks for simplifying! You made everything so much clearer! :)
So powerful 👁️ thank you ladies ❣️
Excellent video I learned so much about loving yourself and others without harming anyone
The soul does NOT die.
The Secret Garden is one of my all time favorites.
I can only imagine the sheer number of people you've reached with your eloquence! Keep at it girlie 👏🖤
*SHELISE AND JONATHAN!!!* CONGRATS AGAIN YOU GUYS. This channel is something you two have beautifully put together, I can only imagine the results of your care and compassion raising a little bean.🥺 Congrats a thousand times over.
This episode came at a beautiful time for y'all to drop the news. Building a moral ground that is stable and compassionate for yourself and others is my idea of a great family base. You two are creating something beautiful for this world with your work and with your love. *A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH* 🖤🖤
Much love and support as always :)
What a kind comment! Thank you so much!🥰
Such good insight! Thank you 🙏🏽 very much!
Faith, wow; your story and journey is powerful. You are an inspiration to so many people. I LOVE that you said you are grateful for everything that had happened because it has made you who you are.
It is such a unique experience that you didn't leave bc of disagreeing with the beliefs, but bc you really wanted to learn and that's how your eyes opened.
I love everything about this video. Strong, resilient and inspiring. Thank you both. After watching 2 of your videos, I felt the confirmation of being on the right path. The words that were drawn to me are: VULNERABLE, SOUL HEALING, HONEST, TRUTH, RESILIENT, GENUINE, AUTHENTIC, WHOLE, LOVED, PERSISTENT, GRATITUDE & ENOUGH! I APPRECIATE YOU BOTH! ~ From Vanna Sing, Tacoma, Washington 253
This was very inspiring! I really connected with her mindset and worldly outlook. Amazing women!! ❤
As a pre med student who’s worked in health care as a scribe with a very strong sense of internal morals and ethics this idea of the circles is incredible to put that into words
I am so grateful for my Mom and how she raised me. She didn't have the formal or academic wording but I was raised to say no and have that be respected, I had bodily autonomy and it was reinforced that my body was mine and I decided how and where I would be touched. Thank You Mama for going with your gut!
Faith, your strength and resilience are inspiring! You have created a great life and are being of service. Your child is blessed with an amazing mother who leads by example and will encourage curiosity, open mindedness, and a thirst for knowledge and understanding. Blessings to you and your family.
Wow, I loved hearing this healing journey. It had helped me along my path. A real beacon of light that guids my own way
Thank you for sharing these stories and creating a platform where we can hold space for each other ❤️
I wish you would do a video on the tens of thousands of boys who got abused by catholic priests during the last centuries! Thank you so much!
Thanks!
Thank you!❤️
I took notes on this one 😂 Thank you so very much!
Glad it was helpful!
Fabulous interview !!! And Fabulous guest !!!!
Amazing conversation 😊
Wow. Incredible freaking interview.
Thank you! Great podcast. Looking forward to reading her books! She’s such an intelligent, resilient, human being!
So much insight from these children of God survivors, wider ramifications for us all… how cult principles are being employed by the military and countries like the US at large…
Thank you for your channel,/podcast. I just left a msg about your wedding, I Loved. But you doing these youtube videos are so Great for saving women, and man , mostly women, from Cults. Thank you Thank you. I grew up Reorganized LDS. Now I'm so upset with the whole Joe Smith Scoundral, rapist ,Awful person. I've been researching l Iots of Mormon and other Lds videos. And I'm so Happy you have this youtube podcast to get The TRUTH OUT THERE ,IN THE WORLD 🌎 ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Karen!❤️
I am a child of sa and many other abuses. My husband tells me when im feeling weak that I'm one of the strongest women he has ever known. That i fought though so much that he couldn't even imagine going through. He is my rock when my mind goes back into the ugly rabbit hole of the mind. I am so glad he is my husband.
❤️❤️❤️
1:11:58 love how you studied the origin of the Bible! ❤❤❤
Responsibility and accountability is essential
I really like the clarity she has in her moral principles. To have come to that after coming out of the environment she did is amazing. :-)
Absolutely inspiring! Thank you!
I'm an ex member of this cult,it took me along long time to realise that my body is mine and I do belong to me.
I raised my daughters the same, 2 are good, but two aren't one was abused by her step father before and after we were in this cult and he blamed this cult he went to jail but he has never taken responsibility for his actions.
I was told to do things i didnt feel comfortable with but i didn't want to be deemed out of it.
I still have flash backs, and I'm finally learning to be me.
Though my relationship with my children is very rocky.
Another absolutely amazing strong woman. What a true legend
