I’m 74, and I probably drive pretty much as I did when I was 18! I raced in the American Reed class of go karts in my youth, built up a ‘66 Comet Cyclone that was my daily driver, and weekend drag racer in B/Stock, NHRA racing. I worked at All American Racers, Inc.(joint venture by Dan Gurney and Carroll Shelby), in the late ‘60s; and I’ve owned performance cars most of my life. When asked why I have a ‘23 Kona N at my age, I simply say “you can take the boy out of the racer, but you can’t take the racer out of the boy!”
I'm 54, and I bought a 2023 KN last spring. Age really has nothing to do with it. I've owned sporty/sports cars since my early 20's, and I will always love them until I shuffle off this mortal coil. The quickest way for a seller to get rid of me is to ask if I'm shopping for my son or daughter (which I don't even have), lol.
Excellent review, but this car is not just for someone in their 20's lol. I am 53 and I purchased my Kona N this spring. If you ever peruse the Kona forums, there are a few members in the their 60's and even 70's. I've always loved performance cars, but couldn't afford a car like this in my 20's... Cheers!
I have had many gtis the last few years and want to try something different this time around.. so I got the Kona N few months ago here in Massachusetts.. and love love love it .. the gti is one great automobile.. but this Kona n is just a riot
I came from a MK 7.5 19’ GTI Autobahn pure white and I do kinda miss its refinement and maturity, but this thing is awesome too, picked up a 23’ Kona N in racing red and it’s just crazy what they did with this thing that exhaust note sounds almost like a stage 2 GTI.
I have a 23’ Kona N in racing red, this hot hatch is very engaging and the exhaust is very entertaining. Great little package 📦 that Hyundai cooked up. Can’t wait to test out their 24’ Elantra N. I really hope they continue to create combustion N’s and still make cars for everyone.
strange how the backseat doesn't have the USB port in the back of the center arm console. US markets have it, but then again they don't have the Heads Up Display down there. I am on the fence with this car and a Trailblazer RS. I know I get more pep with this car but the Trailblazer has some more comfort features (AWD, Sunroof, Powered Tailgate, bit more cargo space, etc). I'm not too worried about the room in the back as I have two kids that would be sitting back there so the leg room is ample, but the difference in engines between the two is so noticeable. I'm worried that a 1.3L 3 cylinder turbo will be so disappointing to drive around in and I'll end up regretting the purchase. The Kona N is just such a blast to drive. Thanks for your honest review.
Ultimately comes down to what you need/want out of the vehicle. The Trailblazer did get updated a bit since we drove it, I believe the two major complaints we had about it included no heated steering wheel, or power lift gate. The heated wheel was added which was good. Let us know what you end up with!
@Perpetualradio I know the 2024 Trailblazer has a new instrument cluster and main infotainment screen. If I could easily get one of those maybe it would sway me more, but that Kona N and it's performance wants me to come back for more, lol.
I have a Kona N and its great.I rented a buick that had that 1.3 and it has zero power on the hwy--also that 1.3 is asking a lot and ?GM reliabilty on small turbo engines is subpar at best.
Just got one month ago ! I am in the older years must say diva, diva girl all the way with the racer red and I’ve gotten so much compliments it’s unbelievable! It’s a very attractive car one of the features I look for when purchasing a NEW car! I think it’s important also ! Hyundai has done a super job ! Diva’s if your looking for an affordable, beautiful, performance, elegant car I give 2 👍🏽👍🏽 up!
Strange that it doesn't, although Hyundai probably omitted to save on price and save on weight, if people are really looking to buy these as performance vehicles.
@@PRNTestDrive People are so critical my man. You did a great job with the review. I turn 42 in November and I just purchased a used 2023 Kona N with only 6k miles. The ride is definitely pretty stiff, but the roads are really good where I live. I’ve owned sports cars all of my life, so it’s really not a big deal for me. However, someone coming from a luxury car with a really quiet and smooth ride would probably be shocked. However, I think most people could look over the stiff ride because of the amount of fun and performance you get out of this car. Especially for the price that you pay. I absolutely love mine and I plan to keep it for a long time. Keep the videos coming. 👍
Would love to get some track time with his car to really see what its got! Thanks for watching everyone! ❤️
That was the gift i make to my self for my 51 birthday in red racing color. I am full in love!!! I can't stop driving it!!! The most fun car ever!!!
Congratulations!
Still in love with it? My 50th and I test drove one yesterday

KN does have auto headlights and auto high beam here in the states
True but I leave it off, it’s not that great.
@@carloscervantes836 well I used mine 🤷 but thanks.. he said it didn't have it in the review.
Fair enough
I made the mistake of test driving this car 🤦🤦🤦🤦
Now I own one.
Great problem to have created! We had the same experience a few years back when we drove a Ford Focus Electric. Loved it so much I had to buy one.

I just bought a Kona N black
Congrats on the purchase!
It missing the blind view camera
It does have blind spot detection but yeah no actual camera when you put the turn signal on
Fair enough!
Great car for the price since new performance SUV’s are in a higher level trims that costs an arm and leg ($70K+).
Very true!
I have one ordered and aim older 26 juste happy to try-it😊
I hope you get to enjoy it quite a bit once it arrives!

I have my car it for me the best one y geet ❤so fun to drive lower spring chip go very weel😊
The only thing I don't like about this car is the small gas tank and it has pretty bad fuel economy for daily driving.
Most vehicles in this segment have small tanks.
@@PRNTestDrive yeah, I'll have to check out my local dealer then
You can get them in all-wheel drive
As far as I know this is only offered in FWD in all markets. The N-Line is available in AWD in Canada, but not the full N.
The model you're showing is the N Line Preferred
Perhaps in whatever market you live in, but here in Canada this is a full N.
Here in New England that is the model N...the n line is less power and does not have ngs button...very different performance as well
Pienso q debería tener sunroof

pfffft...ageism.
🤷🏻♂️
Decent review but please stop waiving your hands around .
Thanks for checking and it out and Noted!
Omg...some people 😅
huh? What's wrong with his hands waving?
Some people get easily distracted it seems.

fun car until a fat racoon cracks your front bumper
That's oddly specific, I'm sorry it happened to you.
