    Hey Preston, I share the same sentiments that transparency is the key to a long term relationships. As a veteran recruiter, and having owned four startups in or around recruiting, I have learned that as recruiters, we work very hard, have so many balls in the air, each with a sense of urgency, and working back and forth within different channels, we are misperceived by some candidates and hiring managers as sleezy “used-car” salespeople. I wonder if it’s just me believing that we don’t receive enough respect/trust which then becomes a bottleneck of uncertainties. Do you feel the same?

      Yes 10000% agree. Really feel like this needs to improve over time as what we do is absolutely crucial to any business Natassia!

    These numbers dont' make sense at face value. I understand you were entry-level but but billing 500k seems impossible to only make $30k. Base alone should be like 45K + commission. 500k is a lot to bill

    Hey Preston, ive had a couple interviews so far for graduate executive recruiting positions but with bo luck so far.
    The only feedback i have been given is they preferred other candidates with more sales experience.
    I am dedicated to finding a career in recruitment but am a little stuck of what to do here

      If you really want to be a recruiter, then intern at a recruiting firm, you’ll receive the requisite training in two months, and start receiving commissions soon after

      Great suggestion as that's a great back door way to get a conversation going. That or apply more rigorously to positions that you see and show through the interview process that you can ramp up your sales quickly on the job!

    How did the startup go out of money, if they were making so much money (you said you helped them make 500K)

    • @hernandayolearyallda
      @hernandayolearyallda Год назад +1

      500k was placements, it isn't necessarily as impressive as it sounds. That could literally be 4 Software engineers in NY earning 125k each. The agencies only get a 20-25% cut or around 80-100k. That is why he was paid just 30k.

    • @RecruiterPreston
      @RecruiterPreston  Год назад +1

      If you do 4 placements at 125 assuming % was 20, that would still be around $80-100k in placements. $500k = ~21-23 placements in a given year

      @@hernandayolearyallda20-25% is quite immense commission. Congrats if u can lock those. Must be executive roles.
