This is good advice. I worked in corporate for 15 years and ran Sole Hire Part Time until I was financially in a place and mentally in a place to run a business full time. Running an agency takes money and I would say just shy of lean you’ll need at least $15000 to get a sourcing platform or two, email accounts (not gmail) create your own domain, get a website, get your contracts and an ATS as well as a lead gen tool.
Preston is being brutally honest some months you won’t make anything. You’ll be building client and candidate connections and pipelines some months you’ll make $20-$100K DONT SPEND 80/20 rule here-
When you can get down your cycle and it becomes consistent you’ll be able to pivot (save, reinvest and have a life) but until it’s consistent yes it a tough journey but a rewarding one.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the current market for even those like you and me who've been successful but facing a tough year. My small firm did over 2M in 2021, 22, and 23, but we're struggling to even get job orders right now. I'm questioning this industry's future but hoping it's just a speed bump.

What industry are in? I'm in IT and it's going well. While we do agency recruiting, it's a grind. We supplement it with going after government projects and they really help keep us afloat as they are guaranteed money so long as you can deliver.

@@johncmoore416 IT as well, but most SMB companies in TN. I have over 100 MSAs signed but clients are all just dry right now in our market. Good for you though, especially with gov projects, We aren't in that sector but can imagine it's much more steady. Happy to connect directly to share more ideas if interested.

I would like to see a video about speed. How to be fast or ahead of time grinding your recruitment job especially administrative ones.

The hardest part with being new is having no proof of concept. You have be really good at developing relationships. Without proof of what you can achieve, clients have no reason to want to work with you.
I recommend getting on a state government's approved vendor list. Those jobs, when you win them, tend to be long term. You will absolutely have to mix in government work with private sector. At least if you get some government jobs, you give yourself some runway to find those private sector jobs.
