I love this video! I have a bachelor's and masters in management and wanted to get into recruiting, but I also saw that most opportunities required at least a year of experience. Luckily, a company finally gave me a shot and just hired me this week! I am super excited! Hoping to one day hit the tech recruiting side of things if the opportunity presents itself.

Love love love this video! I’m a Sourcer with a new company and I’ve been on the fence about promoting to a full-cycle Recruiter, after watching your video it gives inspiration for better to come! Technical Recruiting is so up and down but I love finding people work and Clients who want good people! Recruiting is really about enhancing someone’s life for the better!!!!! Thank you for being so real about the day in the life lol
Preston, thank you so much for sharing about what is happening in the real life of a recruiter. I just achieved my master’s degree in HRM but I am so interested about becoming a recruiter and your video is just exactly what I was looking for: an unfiltered day of a recruiter with genuine advice that you give at the end. Your video is so inspiring! Thank you and keep it up!!
@@LiamJoseph635 was great, was there for almost two years but it opened up another door for me within a new industry with salary, travel and perks I couldn’t say no to.
You are so inspiring! I want to get to be that confident as a recruiter one day. If you do mentorships I would totally consider that. This is really helpful, thank you for sharing, and congrats on your achievements and present! =)
This is exactly the video that I was looking for. I am looking into the recruiting industry, but having a hard time trying to get in it. Sort of lost as the places I have seen require at least 1 year experience. Thanks for posting, and congrats on your success!
Preston, thank you so much for this video!! It was really eye-opening, I felt your enthusiasm for this career, and now curious what the professional lows may look like. Above all, congratulations on a great month! To many more 🎉🎉🎉
Again, great video. You offer so much valuable information to people like me who are looking to start up. I am interested in seeing you talk and how you bill clients and what ATS you would recommend. Thank you. I can tell you love what you do? I would recommend that you start a Facebook page for recruiters if you don’t have one already.
Thanks, tons of great info! Do you have a video where you talk about commission structures for new recruiters? How about a structure training course for new recruiters?
Talked about this in the past but could make a new video! Don’t have a course but are now doing coaching calls on the side so if you’re interested, please reach out directly on LI or IG
glad to hear you and yours came thru the pandamic allright. the loss of your beloved kitty was sad news to hear though. good video, Preston and congrats on your successes! may i ask, what support staff do you work with and when billing, do you bill only on the salary? finally, not having listened to most of your videos, would be interested to hear your thoughts in a video on how you do your staffing agency work as well. all the best and thanks for your spirit of generosity!. john
I would be interested in learning more about how you preset the candidates to the clients. Are you keeping your cards close and sending the resumes without names and info, or do you just fire off the real deal and rely on the contract to ensure no shenanigans are in play, like a client trying to hire from under you?
Really depends on the situation but after doing recruiting for as long as I have, honestly I want to do my best and not play any 'games' or work with people that resort to shady tactics or play games. Recruiting gets a bad enough rep from many others who do this. Honest and authentic recruiting is all about building a strong and sustainable business well into the future and not focused on 'games' to get the quick buck! If a client tries to play any games or tactics, we can choose not to engage with them moving forward.
Hey Preston, great video 👏 I really like how organized you are. One quick question. Are your US clients taking into consideration working with software devs from the European timezone? I am from Romania btw, I am working for a big US company, fully remote, and everything is great. I am asking because I see a lot of good talent here. And if the client, project, and industry are on point, they will love to work for 100k-200k gross.
I just accepted a recruiting job I’m excited and think I’m going to do great but scared a little. I took a job with a company that is commission only. What are your thoughts on companies that pay commission only
Question here: What do you mean that you made $100k working at your first recruiting job but none of that went into your pocket? 03:48. Why was that so? I hope to hear from you. Thanks for the helpful video :)
That was because I did that while I was working for a large staffing agency and my compensation was still set up at that time to enjoy or receive any commissions! :( Thanks for watching!
@@RecruiterPreston haha I feel you. I've done £130k since 12 Apr 2021, recently had £50k in drop outs which would have been my biggest month. Agencies really do take a large chunk. But honestly I've loved every moment of my first year working in rec and at this early I feel you learn so much more for a reputable rec agency.
I'm interested, how do you go about getting setup with truck companies and do you have a list of truck companies who use 3rd Party Recruiters or a training course
Hmm. Not familiar with the trucking industry but creating an agency is similar across all industries and uses the same fundamentals. I'll work on a video soon in the future that outlines all of the steps!
Hi Preston, I have been working as a recruiter for 6 months. I want to go out on my own. I have 2 questions. Where can I get a recruiting contract? Second how do you find clients? Please help me
I'm sure you can find contracts online or on forums and depending on your niche, there a number of ways to find clients. Google, LI, job boards, referral, network. All about consistency and persistence

I am asking because I see a lot of good talent here. And if the client, project, and industry are on point, they will love to work for 100k-200k gross.
Mainly US talent!
This is great. Do you offer training videos. Need help with client and candidate outreach.

It’s great if you’re a high performer but most would consider a salary and/or a draw
The role aint easy. After six months in the field, lots of applicants to place but just cat find the opportunities to place them.

How did you become one?
So are you basically just doing direct hires for these companies?
