- TLC's Sister Wives has returned for it's 18th season and the hypocrisy, inconsistencies, and out right lights are being exposed.
Throughout the years Kody has tried to present himself as the Peter Pan like father and husband. Unfortunately for him, many of the fans saw right through his playful facade. Kody is immature, insecure, and soon to be irrelevant. It is odd to watch a person unravel so completely. In reality show standards this is par for the course, but we can't lose sight of the real world consequences.
Kody is a (un)functional husband to one woman and father of 18 kids. In previous episodes, he held the position that: "living married is a calling, but living polygamy is a higher calling." I disagree. Living well is the higher calling. Finding commitment to your family is a righteous and noble goal. To date Kody has fallen well short of this.
It sounds as if Kody is living through severe depression as he tries to find himself. I hope that he seeks the help that he needs to put his life together and he develops a strong and lasting bond with all his kids and their mothers. Until then, I am going to use his story as an example of how not to live.

One part that everyone forgets is Kody not only refuses to go to Ysabel's surgery, he refuses any responsibility to pay for it, Christine has to raise $50,000 in order to pay for the surgery, with NO help from Kody. But now we know he had plenty of money to buy ugly art and tiny villiage houses and Victoria Secret clothing. He wasn't there in anyway for Christine kids.
I am glad you brought that up. I think that is the real reason Kody calls his kids Christine's kids Janelles kids. He didn't have a problem paying for His and Robins son Dayton to have his surgery.

It's weird that during talking heads, we rarely get any discussion of finances other than to buy a house or not. There is a big story in the pooling and allocation of resources that remains untold.
Cody is not on any of Christine's children's birth certificates, and he's never provided health insurance for them, how horrible! When him and Meri got divorced and he married Robyn so he could adopt her kids they got health insurance!!! What a despicable man, you reap what you sow!

So, did we all catch the MOST telling moment for this guy? He has kids (two youngest) who are still "loving me back". So they are still worthy of his attention and care. Once anyone stops "loving him back", they are consigned to the outer darkness. It's entirely conditional and that is not love.

Kody got the Coyote Pass property that was in his/her name that was already paid in cash. But Kody wanted it ALL. He honestly is only about the money. That’s why he didn’t help Janelle with diddly squat. He had his foot on her neck and her boys saw it all real time.
And that's the same reason he wanted Janelle to buy a house. His name would be on it, and she would pay for it. 100% profit
He's also mad that she left on her terms even when he tried to bully her, she was over him before she left and that is what he can't wrap his egotistical mind around.
Remember his worry about Christine leaving was she would start dating a man that would take all the family money (as if she had to keep contributing to a family she left)... it's all about money and the fact that he can't provide for snobyn and her brats is probably the reason he wants to run away. I encourage him to run away bc nobody would miss him!
She could have taken more, she sold her part in Coyote Pass to the gruesome twosome for 10 dollars, she ciuld have taken him to court to get child support, and gotten a forencic accounting on his finances, the TLC money went to an LLC in all the adults names, that money should have been split EVENLY between the adults, that is how LLCs works
Kody also wanted that snow blower left for him. The only reason he was "helping" her move. She wasn't letting him have it. His watching her and Truely go down the road was epic. The final "I'm Glorious and Done!" For Christine!

The Christmas gathering with the snowball fight was the first time I've seen Janelle's kids REALLY smile in a long time. Why? Because it was as if their Mom and siblings were back home. Janelle is their real mom, and they love her, but she always served in more of a father/breadwinner/provider role doing Kody's job for him. Christine was the nurturer. Those kids have been grieving the loss of Christine for a long time. They miss her so much. When Hunter was going through his dark time, it was Christine's house that he used to go to for comfort and understanding. Janelle didn't know what to do with him, and Kody simply yelled at him to snap out of it.

What was wrong with Hunter?
I remember that season where Hunter was *clearly* struggling with clinical depression. It was depression on a very serious level, and Hunter was only a teenager! I remember being concerned with Kody's dismissive attitude about his son's reclusive behavior, obvious sadness, detachment from his siblings, etc. Any *one* of those abrupt changes in a young teen's behavior should be a red flag to their parent/s. I was disappointed in Janelle for seemingly (idk all the details, this is only my opinion) choosing to follow Kody's lead rather than her own inner voice as a mother. Nobody talked about seeking professional help for Hunter during that time and it made me worry for him. Fortunately, all sources seem to agree that Hunter has turned out to be a fine young man who is a military veteran, has gone to and finished his college education, has a career that allows him to live comfortably and has a serious, long-term girlfriend. But when it comes to teenagers and depression, unfortunately Hunter's recovery from those incredibly difficult months is the exception, and not the rule. Most depressed teens, if the depression is ignored or overlooked and therefore goes untreated, end up seeing their lives get a whole lot worse before things eventually start to get better. It's a hellish way to spend your high school / undergraduate college years, carrying around a depressive mindset 24/7. Please, anyone reading this, if your child is showing signs of depression you need to get him/her in contact with a professional immediately. It's possible to intervene in time for your to turn things around before it gets worse. You could be saving them many years (if not decades) of struggling to function in the world if you can catch it in time. Do not wait one more day. This doesn't "go away with time" in 99% of cases. Please take symptoms seriously and get your kid the appropriate help!!
I think Christine allowed him space right after the move to las vagas and let him be with his siblings. The kids would live with different moms if enough issues came up.

He hated leaving friends, had difficulty making new friends, and I think resented his dad's affair and mid-life crisis with his little twig tail which up-ended the entire family with no thought for any of them. They were not only forced to treat Robyn's kids as siblings, but he saw the preferential treatment they and Robyn received from Kody. She also tried to stick her nose in all of the issues and decisions involving the teens, and she had no teens herself.
The last straw was him not reaching out to Savannah on Christmas. Plus Robyn not letting Kody's daughter have their special Christmas, her kids had theirs. But oh no, Robyn could not even do that for them. Ugh !
Yes! That bothered me so much. I don't feel like she did it for the right reasons at all.

The one valuable insight that Nathan offered to Kody was "The wives are going through it too. They are grieving their relationships with the departing wife and their lifelong friend too." Kody chose not to hear him. Kody does not recognize that they women are grieving and redefining relationships too.

One thing that everyone seemed to miss is when Kody said he couldn’t kick Janelle’s boys out because his name wasn’t on the lease. I think that has him burning up too. His hands were tied & he couldn’t force the issue with Janelle.
I don’t remember what season it was or what episode but I never forgot the way Cody described keeping his wives under control by getting “creative and pitting them against each other.” The man has always been a monster!

Janelle, Christine and Meri are everyone's Moms. All of their kids see them as Mom. Robyn's kids refer to Meri, Janelle and Christine as Dad's wives, not as Mom. Robyn was obsessive about her kids calling Kody Dad but she did not instruct her kids to call Meri, Janelle or Christine Mom. They were always Dad's other wives.
Remember how possessive Robin was when her and Kodys boy was small and Meri wanted to have him for a little buddy. They all shared the kids but Robin then they complain they are the outcasts
Robyn always kept herself and her kids separate from the family and then plays victim that they’re not close to the rest of the family like everyone else.

In that realized moment Janelle looked devastated absolutely completely devastated and worried about where she goes from here. You could see the emotion flutter across her face It was raw, unexpected and real. Janelle Christine and Mary don't have to pretend that they have emotions and pretend that they cry their real people with real compassion empathy love protection. There's only two that aren't and that would be Cody and Robin Robin who must somehow think that in this 17th 18 episode everyone forget what she did from the beginning of the show seems like she's blocked it out. I think the straw that broke the camel's back for TLC was when Cody broke the third wall I imagine TLC was done trying to make Cody and Robbins storyline sympathetic empathetic to viewers and decided to drop-mic Kody. I could hear it in the TLC voices when Janelle said to shut it down after Cody went out the door their response, tone and compassion empathy for Janelle was revealed and confirmed.
He brought it all on himself. When your husband comes to you, tells you he isn't attracted to you, doesn't want to "do it" with you thrn he asked for her to leave. On topof that he didn't go to his daughters surgery because of Covid but go to a wedding with a bunch of strangers? Covid my arse! I agree. In life we meet two types of people: The Makers and The Takers. Janelle, Meri, & Christine tried to make and maintain a family. Kody and Robyn took everything they could from those efforts and used them for their own benefit. I don't fault the OG3 for being generous. They just sacrificed for the wrong people.

The title of the show is “Sister Wives” not “Kody Brown and his wives.” The show would be vastly improved if the got rid of him, and no one would miss him. I’ve gotten to the point that I just fast forward through the scenes that have him in it because I can’t stand to look at him.
What really drives me nuts with Kody is he's always crying about his breakups and how hurt and mad he is, but in the same breath, he dismisses Mari. How do you think she feels? She actually loves Kody, unlike how he has said he feels about Kristeen. He has no empathy. He claims he is going through divorces, but he hasn't seen a divorce yet. If he keeps playing games with Robyn and talking about how he doesn't really want her anymore either he's going to find out what a divorce actually is. She can take him for everything he's worth. Then he really will be crying. Watching Janelle in that tiny apartment burns me up too. Robyn's Christmas decorations are worth more than a month of Janelle's rent.

You hit the nail on the head when you said Janelle and Christine’s Christmas was about family and the kids and everyone enjoying themselves. Christmas at Kody & Robyn’s seemed to be about him trying to redeem himself with good PR work.
Sad. He really needs to hold out the olive branch and let go of his ego. He should make an effort to be a father to all the children regardless of how his marriages ended.

Mic drop moment: Kody wants to escape everything and everyone. What keeps Kody from leaving is Sol and Ari, not Robyn's older 3 or Robyn or anyone else. Kody is ok with ALL of his kids, the other women to see it AND millions of viewers. He just doesn’t want Robyn to see it. He knows that Robyn has it in her to take away his parental rights of Sol and Ari.
Pretty sure she's seen it now..... should we take bets on the time frame of Robyn leaving now, too?

For the last 30 years kody has had 3 women outdoing each other for Kody’s attention. He cannot comprehend that they’re over it. He never believed any of them would actually leave no matter how horribly he treated them and now he’s melting down. I’m really enjoying watching Kody collect his karma.

I always felt that Meri was truly IN-Love with Kody- I mean unconditional love- infact if he came to her and asked her to stay and better their relationship- she would. Christine and Janelle totally loved Kody - but when you have kids, that love shifts naturally to your children- you still love your husband, but everything Kody didn’t do for the children becomes a deal breaker! It really becomes more about the kids for a mom. Nothing turns me on more is watching a father interacting and spending quality time with your children. Kody not only didn’t do that but also neglected his 3 wives.

James once again you're right on point. I found this episode really difficult to watch Kody and the creap thing nearly made me toss my cookies. Without the ladies, he doesn't have a show. Without the show, he can't Finance Robin, he is gonna lose everything.
The problem is: if Kody has narcissistic personality disorder IT DOESN'T MATTER what is said, how it's said, any energy sent in his direction is going to feed him. The worse he acts, the more he shows his lack of empathy, the more hate goes in his direction and that's what he feeds on. His wives pain is also what he feeds on.
You watch...when Janelle leaves (with nothing) and she pairs up with Christine and TLC picks them up as a rival spin off to Kody & Robyn, you'll see Kody start to take out his lack of empathy on the persons closest.... You get out of a relationship what your willing to put into that relationship. Sadly children grow up seeing the way you treat their mother, and the way you treat them. If you refuse to accept responsibility for absolutely anything, they will eventually choose not to have a relationship with you. At least if you raise strong, intelligent, kind hearted children, they will have the strength to walk away and protect themselves from heart ache.
I'm praying that these kids , most of whom are adults now, choose a partner that will treat them well. The 1's that r still lil should b sheltered as much as possible from the toxicity around them! They need help ! All of the kids do! I'm praying they find God , so they can see what true love is & how 2 become good ppl!
