- TLC's Sister Wives has returned for it's 18th season and the hypocrisy, inconsistencies, and out right lights are being exposed. Throughout the run of this show Kody and Robyn have taken their turns portraying themselves as the victims. In this video I want to discuss a seldom talked about casualty in their campaign to attain Reality show fame and fortune. The person I am referring to is Robyn's ex-husband David.
Early on there was a storyline where Kody, Robyn, and the Brown family had to save Robyn's kids from her previous marriage by having Kody adopt them.
Watching this story unfold it not only didn't make a lick of sense if you listen to their story, but it is outright horrifying the way the treated that man.
I want to be clear, it is every parents responsibility to meet all their child's needs to the best of their ability. A lot of people fall short of this. I simply take umbrage with the idea that a child can be stripped away from a parent because one of the parents has a better job, has married/remarried, or can provide more financial opportunities. The concern shouldn't just sit with the non-custodial parent, rather should be rooted in the family court creedo of "best interest of the child." It is in the child's best interest to maintain relationships. As Kody would say "we have to consider the big picture. Love should be multiplied not divided."

She made Cody adopt her kids so she could prove he would do anything for her. To prove to the other women that her kids are better. To prevent their natural father from tapping into the money train by having some rights to the kids. Nothing that comes out of Robyn's mouth is as truthful as her actions.

@@kelleykidder7787 Interesting. One of the arguments Robyn put forward for adoption was so that her kids would be covered under Kody's health insurance. Dayton was injured after the adoption.
I think they wanted full rights to the kids for filming purposes. It’s been clear that the bio dad wasn’t comfortable with his kids being on tv and I think some of those contracts require permission from both parents. That and kody and Robyn wanting to be legally married to “ride off into the sunset” as Janelle said. Which is exactly what they did.
Oh wow you hit the mail on the head, this explains why they would have to take the Dad's parental rights away. Robyn wanted to make sure she didn't have any roadblocks with her children being on a reality show and that's an angle I never thought of.

You nailed this, James. I think what Robyn and Kody have done to those three kids and their father is heartbreaking. The saddest part to me is that ALL of this is available for viewing and one day, those kids are going to see and know everything. It’s going to blow up in R&K’s faces but it’s going to devastate all five of those children.😢
I never trusted the ATV accident story. First off I just watched a 20 year old woman get her ears pierced with her mom on FaceTime. Yet I’m supposed to believe she let a teenager at the time travel by himself. Then participate in a risky/dangerous activity. The only way he would ever be allowed to do such a thing. Would be if Robin herself was glued to the backseat.

Adding to the accident was Robyn demanding Preston say the accident happened with him so his insurance would pay for he surgeries. Robyn does not play nice!

Ironic thing is while they tried to make Robyn’s ex husband look bad but now the show eventually makes Kody looks like an awful father and husband!

@liadown9052 IMHO, Kody and Robyn wouldn't have gotten together if it weren't for the show🤔 There have been reports circling that Ribyn sought out the Brown family as she knew about the TV show TLC were trying to put together around the Brown's polygamist family. Robyn was conniving person from the beginning and planned her strategy to be the number one wife/"Queen bee" from the beginning as she observed how her mother et al as second wives were treated within the AUB.
I always thought the divorce was not Meri's idea. If it had been Meri's idea, she would not be so hurt about the decision. It was just so obvious.

Meri didn't come up with the idea of divorcing Kody, that's why Janelle had "no comment" when TLC asked her opinion of this plan. It's smells like BS to me, because that's what it is and always has been!!
My heart goes out to her ex husband. I hope he recovers fully. Don't believe he deserved any of this. Robyn is only looking after herself.
I hope he lives long enough to reestablish a relationship with his kids. If he dies before they can reconnect meaningfully Robyn will have committed a grievous and unforgivable sin against them. Usually when this situation happens kids grow up to realize what their mother did to them. I lost my father when I was 13. I can't imagine losing a parent before I got to know them. Sooner or later mothers who try to alienate their kids from their fathers end up with broken relationships with their children. Manipulative people like Kody and Robyn expose themselves. Robyn's kids have been abused in one of the worst ways possible. She stole their father from them

@@jennysmith330 nobody could have removed parental rights from a father than I could have but what went on was between me and him and not him and our son, and I never badmouth that my ex-husband to my son because he lived through the dysfunction and came out on the other side as a wonderful human being, who has forgiven his father and as an adult now, they have a decent relationship and I have long since forgiven him but I moved on so this baffles me because from what I have seen on TV because Robyn’s husband did not do 1 ounce of what my ex-husband put us through so that’s why I’m wondering if he was paid off, even by TLC?
@@franny5059 I also had a huge problem with my first and only husband but he is a good father to our son. I never did anything to jeopardize their relationship. As you say, it was between us. I just think Robyn's ex did not have the finances to fight for his right. She probably bankrupted him before she left and he is avoiding more conflict for his kids.
@@jennysmith330 I can see how he allowed it. Robyn had deep pockets behind her to fight him in court for custody. Lets say he fought her. Lets say he bought a lawyer to help him get his kids. Who is it going to hurt to drag his kids through a custody battle? It is going to hurt his kids. He obviously didn't want to weaponize the court system to destroy Robyn. He could have. I think he had a good case against her. She needed nannies, she exploited the kids for money. She put her kids in a situation that was inherently unstable because polygamy is illegal and it doesn't look good in courts.
I think that is what James misses in his analysis. Robyn's ex wasn't happy about his kids being on reality TV. I think that the reason they moved to Las Vegas in the first place was to keep David from having grounds to get custody of Robyn's kids. In Utah it would be easier to yank those kids away from her than it is in Nevada. I think Robyn doing away with David's rights was because Kody didn't like to have to deal with David having power to call the shots on any level.
Meri was completely and utterly in love with Kody there’s absolutely NO way she initiated the divorce this was a totally maniacal plan by Robyn to be come the top and favorite wife which left Meri clearly devastated you can see it all over her face and demeanor since that day she lost her twinkle in her eyes 😢
I don't buy the story that it was all meri that brought robyn into the picture either. I think she was manipulated into thinking or saying it was her idea and kody and robyn had it set up already.
Spare a thought for Snobbin 's ex, voiceless and without the TLC resources manipulated and lied to, demonised in the eyes of his children by a selfish narcissist with a megaphone. Now I've heard he has cancer. Snobbin has made his life hell.

Comes down to cash and control. Kody didn’t want David to be able to demand his children either be paid or not be filmed. Kody won’t give up that control and he sure won’t pay them separately.
If Robyn was so concerned about how David was, allegedly, dangerous to their children, why did the kids get to go spend a week or two with him after Kody legally adopted them.
I agree that Kody is a terrible parent. He’s far too concerned about himself and his image. I know accidents happen, but they happen around Kody a lot. His daughter falling from a horse (he attended the horse before addressing his own child), his not accompanying his other daughter to get serious surgery half way across the country, and then Truly nearly dies because he doesn’t pay close attention.
And it still haunts me a little even though not physical injury, but that bicycle scene with Truly.

Pop Psych says he’s not sure if Robyn is seriously unaware of how she hurts people or if she’s lying. I think this shows she’s lying. The way she says “are you serious right now?” to Christine about her emotions over Robyn hiring a nanny is so obviously lying. There is no one (maybe a sociopath?) who wouldn’t know that hiring a nanny in that situation is hurtful.

I think Robyn knows how to manipulate and spin things, but I don't think Robyn and Kody are smart enough to have self awareness. It's stupidity to join a family where resources, such as childcare, are managed and shared, and then to hire out a "third party" to nanny the children. It's like the other wives see how unintelligent this is and Robyn doesn't have the capacity to get it. Not making excuses for Robyn btw I just think her upbringing, her culture, her state of mind tells her playing dumb/being dumb is desirable 🙄

In one episode, Christine, expectant mother of five, said that she was expected to generate some kind of income. You referenced her working nights and having to leave her kids. I wonder why Robyn was never expected to generate any guaranteed income. Perhaps that was something she arranged ahead of time with Kody as part of their marriage negotiation. Thoughts?
I do see that Kody made promises before marriage…. I even think he told her that she will never have to work because the other wives will take care of the money
I remember Janelle pressuring Robyn like "okay.. you said you'd get a job after we moved & settled. We're here, get a job." Instead of getting a job she got pregnant. Janelle was pissed when she found out. I would have been too. She asked her to wait a while. Robyn only cares about what she wants. She never considers how her actions effect the bigger family. Christine took care of all the kids during the day including homeschooling them (while pregnant) and then worked a job at night. And Kody wouldn’t tuck her kids in. 😡
Krissydawn644 stole my thunder. LOL. I had the clip where the understanding was Robyn was supposed to be looking for a job. Robyn even went as far as to say in a confessional in the first season that she wished she could find a great job and bring in money to show the family she was pulling her weight. Later she talked about watching Janelle's kids while Christine was nursing Truely. In her words, she was hoping Janelle "would see her value." Once she was married they moved to Vegas and before anybody had a chance to look for work she was pregnant with Sol while they were still in the initial rental. Once she was pregnant she started working on Meri to get the divorce so she could legally marry Kody. If you recall, her first salvo was asking Meri if she wanted Robyn to be her surrogate. Finally when Meri was going to say "yes," Robyn had Kody tell Meri he didn't want to have a child with her. Not long after that, Robyn started pressing Kody for another baby. Old girl is deep.

They said a few times they needed the adoption to get the kids on Kodys insurance. Although we all know there wasn't insurance except state aid for Isabel's surgery. Also Robyn doesn't think Christine has the right to decide to divorce , but she sure did it. This all aggravates the crap out of me. Meri was set up, she ONLY did it for the kids, the divorce. I KNEW it would turn out like this. They even changed Dayton's name from David after his father to Dayton. That's wrong on so many levels. Kody went on a 2week honeymoon when Truely was newborn and Savannah was only 5. But he can't leave Robyn's for a night because they're young. Give me a break!

Its crazy how Robyn loves to make her kids feel rejected. Shes taught those kids that her and Kody are the only people who accept them. She cut them off from their father and his family, she kept them away from the other wives, she made them think their siblings didnt like them. She taught the older 3 to bow to Kody and take his every word as law. She wanted to secure that bag and set herself up at any cost. Sad it was at the expense of those kids.

Robyn did this for a lot of reasons, I believe. She knew Kody was patriarchal and wanted those kids to “belong” to him. TLC could film the kids without interference from the ex. She wanted to be the legal wife with control over what happens to the estate and to make sure her children aren't overlooked. But the creepiest thing about all of it is that Robyn has mirrored her mother’s marriage and divorce and remarriage and then having her kids adopted (including Robyn). It's so incredibly strange and disturbing.

@@kimberlyhansen4096 he was definitely along for Robyn’s evil plan. I think she may have been more subtle with introducing it to him. So at the beginning, she was acting all “perfect.” Or what she thought Kody would think was perfect. Then over time she made him believe she needed him more than all the other wives. Now anything she says, he takes as gospel.

What if all 18 children want a hug and a cuddle and to talk to their father? Does Kody decide how much affection and time to give to his kids by how much the mom and the child "respect" him? Is it just ego wanting to be proactive to Robyn's children and neglecting his natural born children?

I knew a woman who played the same game with her kids that Robyn did. Her first husband and father of her children did not make a lot of money. This lady had remarried a guy that was a better provider so she told her ex that he could quit paying child support. The father kept in contact with his kids, he sent them presents, and tried to be in their lives even though he lived a few hours away. So a few years go by, this guy got remarried and his new wife was pregnant. When this woman found out that her ex was going to be a father again she told him that she wanted her new husband to adopt their children. This guy didn't want to give up his parental rights. When he refused to sign away his rights she threatened him. She said that he would have to start paying child support, and pay 5 yrs back support, too. She told him that knowing he was fairly poor and had a new baby to take care of. He called her bluff at first. But eventually he gave up. He just couldn't afford to get a lawyer. My family stopped associating with her because of this. It is a morally bankrupt thing to do, to engineer your ex being behind on child support by telling him not to worry about it, and then wait until he was financially pressed to get him to give up on his kids. It is hard to believe someone would be that evil, but we knew that she told him not to sweat the child support because her new husband was really well off.
This is the same thing as Robyn with her ex. He has let it be known through his family that her claims against him were false. He never wanted to sign away his kids. And he has more class than she does because he has never publicly disparaged Robyn. One of the reasons I really dislike Robyn is because I know what it is to be a single mom. My ex abandoned our marriage. Even worse, he abandoned my son. I never disparaged my ex to my son even though he was a ghost. My son never even met him until he was a teenager. There is no excuse for Robyn to disparage her ex to her children. With my situation I told my son the kindest version of what his father was. His father was mentally ill and abused substances. I never said anything about his father battering me. Your kids cannot undo your bad decisions. They do not need to be burdened with them. Kids feel badly about who they are if you tell them that half their DNA abused you.

Kody was truly a grifter… Robyn purposefully separated her children because she depended on that damsel in distress, victim attitude. Robyn thrived on this. Also, Christine was spot on when she said that Robyn never lived polygamy. Robyn just wanted favor and legal wife status. i’ll never understand how she isolated her children, but got mad at Gwen when she referred to the older three children that Robin has as half siblings. When I go back and watch the seasons, it’s truly sad how Janelle was correct when she talked about Cody and Robin riding into the sunset and how Robin becoming the legal wife, would change the dynamic of the family. The worst thing that Meri could have done is give up her legal wife status is but the best thing Meri could have done has give up her legal wife status if that makes sense.

Little off topic but Robin has done many creepy things throughout the seasons but one of the creepiest things she has done was to have a portrait painted of Cody and her kids when they were younger. She must not have had a lot of money to play with because that was the creepiest most horrible painting I've ever seen in my entire life It gave me nightmares. It was . . . it's creepy. And that is only one of many creepy thing she has brought to the family

James it saddens me how many separated parents use their children like a bargaining tool or a revenge instrument. Robyn and Kody treated David disgracefully. I felt sorry for the Robyn children. Robyn and Kody are like a wrecking ball.
Look at how Kody looked after Truely on his own, she almost died from dehydration and kidney failure. I completely see Kody putting Dayton on the back of a vehicle and him being injured on his watch!

Yes, James. You're correct. Kody didn't want to co-parent with his cousin, Preston (Robyn's ex).
We're seeing just how destructive two narcissists can be and how they are unaware of just how much they reveal about themselves. Believe me, there is virtually no limit to what they will do to control and get what they want from other people - they will steal from you, cheat on you and lie to you without remorse. All of the kids in this family, but particularly Robyn's kids have been and are being psychologically and emotionally abused by the behavior of Kody and Robyn.

Rob’em has always been a whole ass damn lie. She acts like we haven’t seen all these episodes, watching her isolate and alienate her children and Grody from the rest of the family. She’s worse than a fairytale stepmother.

What really resonates with me is if Robyn and Kody are willing to do THAT- there’s nothing they won’t do to get what they want. That’s a very dangerous game they’re both playing. My thing is during the divorce that was her chance to accuse him of abuse, and to show evidence, and do all these things to further her case for her kids and you know it’s funny she never said anything about abuse

Maybe that's why Kody was so insistent about being at and paying for daytons surgery but not his daughters. It was his fault.
Your analysis is spot on and has so much insight. Kody and Robyn act like there hasn't been a camera crew taping them for the last 10 years. The show provides all the receipts of their terrible behavior and lies. They moved to Vegas because Robyn has family there, they moved to Arizona because her son went to college there then acted like it was just a coincidence.
I also thought it was strange.. Robyn didn't want Christine looking after her kids, but in season 17, the knife in the kidney episode, Kody blames Christine for never wanting to have any relationship with Robyn or her kids.. 🧐 Yes she did, she wanted to take care of the kids, but Robyn was the one that didn't want that.. And to make it even worse she tells her kids every chance she gets that the other mothers and kids don't want to interact with them which is not true.. Robyn is the one who drove a wedge between them... on purpose.. She also wasn't happy with the way the other wives raised their kids.

As always, you are 100% spot on about Sobbyn. Meri was set up to divorce Kody by Sobbyn and Kody. I remember watching Meri’s heartbreaking tears when she was signing the divorce papers and I think that Sobbyn should have not been there with Meri and Kody for that. Then later after Kody and Sobbyn were married, Sobbyn telling Meri to tear up Meri and Kody’s marriage license and I was glad Meri didn’t listen to her. These are just two examples of Sobbyn’s cruel manipulations.
Sobbyn manipulated her ex-husband to give up his rights and if he was so bad, why did she send her kids to stay with him after the adoption?!
Yep, and they told Meri she was on their team, but as soon as this divorce was final they dumped her.
And 100% she sent those kids to the man she wanted them away from soooo bad, and again as soon as she got her way and they were legally adopted.
From my point of view, things with Kody and Meri went to heck in a hand basket when she divorced Kody.
This is the best interpretation of Robyn and Kody's selfishness and both are vile people for doing thatto the real father. These poor kids, are full of anxiety and Robyn has done a disservice to her children and she needs to take responsibility for both their mental health issues. She didnt do them any favors, tricking the real father into signing them to Kody who doesnt care for his kids and Robyn makes damn sure Kody spent more tome with her kids and Robyn. They are so dispicable its gross. I just hope that he can see his kids because Robyn has caused caos in their lives by moving them all over the place and her kids not seeing their real dad can cause mental issues. Robyn has done nothing but isolate her children from the family.

I’m sure Robyn planted the idea that since mr jessop ‘stole her purity’ she was going to take her kids and give them to who she felt should of been her baby daddy. Kody is so cross-eyed stupid and crippled with insecurities that this stroked his little man ego. By playing this role of the victim with lost innocence, she maneuvered herself to not only be the legal wife on paper with the most to gain if she decided to leave, but by having Cody as the adoptive father of her kids he’s on the hook for them while putting her kids on equal footing as his biological kids. It sends a message to the existing wives about her importance. Robyn then brings forward her victim act to Cody by chronically accusing the other wives and kids of being cruel and unaccepting of her and her kids. Cody not only believes her but continuously overcompensates to appease Robyn and the pattern of this over and over again through the years distances him from the other wives and his biological kids while bringing him closer to Robyn her kids. She is Machiavellian to her core.

I bet TLC orchestrated a lot of this to have full control of filming. They didn't have to film any of this stuff about him potentially being a negligent parent, make him seem like an abuser, imply that Dayton was out of town with him during his accident, etc. They were flexing on him like "look at what we can do to your reputation & we're just getting started." It's cruel. If I was in his position, I would be so angry. It would be hard to not spiral into a dark, angry place.
Minute 11:17 is actually sad… Robyn QUICKLY blames his natural kids for not wanting a relationship with their dad … Robyn says “you can only push so much” ??? Wow! She had that response up her sleeve.
The clip you played showing robyn say that Kody could only have relationships with the kids that hugged and kissed him, like little ones do, explains so much about Aurora. Robyn has infantalised her childten to keep in his good graces and to keep Kody interested and attached to her children. The dodie/binkie/dummy we've seen Ari with, beyond what is really expected, OMG, thats so manipulative and sneaky. Gives me the shivers
Robyn is pure evil. To the point that she accused her ex husband of r a p e after he got upset that Kody allowed his son to ride the ATV. The r a p e accusation was to pressure him into giving up his paternal rights. Robyn is evil, cunning, ruthless. She has well earned her reputation.
I will always remember victim Robyn manipulating Meri to divorce Kody by saying that she was afraid that her kids were going to insist on leaving to live with their father if they did not feel like they were part of the Brown family. The children are Meri's Achilles heel. She would do anything for them. Remember the infamous scene where Meri was reprimanding all of the kids to treat each other and Robyn's kids better? Meri was acting in fear of Robyn's kids choosing to go live with their father. Robyn's words set off the reprimand that made Janelle and Christine so angry too.

It's also making it clear Robyn and Kody are placing the responsibility of a relationship on the kids rather than Kody. As a father you make the time and effort to build a relationship. And no Robyn it's more than a hug and a kiss

Awesome retelling of the reality of the adoption and the coersion used. Now the kids are so brainwashed against their father. And I wouldnt be surprised if the stress from the loss of his parental rights contributed to his cancer. This is a woman who doesnt even want his kids to know hes very ill. What the hell!! Is there no limit to how far robyn will go to keep control of her kids minds and freedoms? She is a sicko!
Robyn was out for it all. The adoption was what made me see what she was really all about.The things she has said about him on the show is on her especially since his family has come out to defend him and let folks know just what she was all about and when thing didn’t go her way that is when she left. They said she wanted plural marriage and David said No.. shortly after that she left. Yet he was working to pay off the loan his family gave him to pay off their debts. They said she continued to spend making more debt.

Cody wanted that adoption because Cody is threatened by other men. You can see it in the way he behaves with his adult sons. He is threatened by any man because he knows he’s not a very good man.

I always thought it was horrible Robyn took the kids from their father. They also don’t know their father is sick with cancer now so they can’t even choose whether or not to see him now. Robyn is a horrible person!

The side chick needed complete control over the family, her children and Kody. The adoption was a major step toward her becoming the only wife. She's freaking out now a bit, because she's losing her ATM's and possibly her tv career.

And there was a show where Robyn was talking about chastity. She mentioned that she gave away something precious to the wrong guy whole stole what wasn't supposed to be his. (Her ex and the kids that sprang from that. She got pregnant and married her lover and had 2 other kids aside from the 1st ) It was supposed to be saved for this special guy (Cody) but she didn't have it to give him (she's just invalidating her 3 older kids as a result) and it broke her heart. Then implying she was now sullied goods and the guy's a prince for marrying her anyway. At this point the camera pans around to her older kids faces. They're heartbroken because basically what she was saying was it's too bad they were ever born and one of them had tears pouring down her face. That's got be giving them some sort of deep seated complex. Robyn believes her older daughters are sad because she had such a sad story about losing her virginity to her ex-husband and not waiting until Cody came along and married her in order to have sex and kids. Those poor kids. It seemed to affect the daughters more than Dayton. And speaking of him I heard he was named David after his father but when Cody adopted them they changed his name, somehow on the adoption paperwork. And it didn't seem to make it into a storyline.

Dayton's accident always seemed sketchy because robyn didnt say who he was with, who was driving the atv, not even explaining details like his friend was driving, just sweeped everything under the rug, yet robyn is so protective so how did this happen? This is so crazy, because if anyone did this to my kid accident or not im NEVER letting them around my kid again not alone without me there. It was kody for sure thats why shes being so vague she dont wanna make kody look bad and irresponsible
