Yea I thought the same thing - that was probably the most amazing punt in college football history - he had at least 4 defenders around him and manage to juke a couple and get it off... pretty unreal.
Mich St fans would disagree, but I guess in their case it was more of a punt attempt & not an actual punt. 2015 MSU vs UM. final play of the game. epic.

Nothing feels better than a comeback. My most memorable wrestling match...I was down 4 to 12 at the end of the second period in an international match. (I wasn't used to the International Freestyle vs U.S. Collegiate point system) I won 16 to 14. I shut the crowd up big time. Damn, it felt good.
Florida State was already out of contention to repeat as National Champs that year because they already had two losses. The Gators had one. By playing for a tie, the Seminoles made sure the Gators were out of any National Championship discussion. I agree about the overtime and the fact OT was played in New Orleans with FSU on top.
The best part of this is that the crowd was still full, packed and excited.. You'd think a 31-3 4th quarter leave would mean the stadium would be only half full...
I was there. On the field. Got to meet Rick Flair. In q4 stood in the end zone where all the Noles td’s were scored. It was deafening. It was amazing. It was a memory of a life time. #gonoles

I'm glad they don't end in ties anymore. I wish the Noles were still this prominent. I'm tired of hearing about Georgia. But with OU and Texas joining the SEC now, who knows what's going to happen.
Or on the interception where he threw his helmet off and ran up the field taking half the football team with him from the sideline that would have been a unsportsmanlike delay-of-game 15-yard penalty I seen so many things that today would be called

Crazy that this comeback happened on the same day as the John Tyler vs. Plano East game in Cowboys Stadium.. that was the greatest ending to a game ever!
Yeah, cuz nowadays they don't let them play football. All they want them to play is pattycake. They may as well all be running around in pink polka dotted dresses, playing no contact, no tackle flag football. Pathetic, Refs calling penalties every other play for every stupid little thing. You look at guy, brush up to him and they throw a flag .. INTERFERENCE!! So teams gets a 40 yard first down for doing nothing. So that's what you like? That's what you call football? What a moron!! Now you can't even touch the QB or you get a penalty. How many times have I seen defenders NOT want to hit the QB for fear of a penalty, then QB runs for a big gain.
That was an awesome game. As a Florida State fan I was feeling mighty disheartened after 3 periods, but I said, "Well, let's see if they can at least make the final score more respectable." They did that and then some! Had to watch on TV. I did see the Miracle at Memorial in person, where Cal trailed Oregon 30-0 late in the 2nd quarter and rallied to win 42-41.
This was the last game I ever saw in person before my family up and left Tallahassee for good and moved all the way across the country to Seattle, Wa where we and I have lived since and never looked back. But goddamn if this game in particular doesn't resonate with me on the good ole' years of the Bobby Bowden era. From 1982 to 1994 I saw more games @ Doak Campbell then I can count, some amazing wins and some heartbreaking losses but never in my life will I EVER forget this game. But now that I live in Seattle and am a proud graduate of U of W there is no team in this country I will root for harder than my Huskies, FSU gave me some great memories as a child but my loyalty now lies with the Dawg Pound. Nevertheless this game will live in infamy for the Florida Gators and their despicable fan base of years gone by. Choke on that you central Florida fuckers!!!

Clyde Allen was my neighbor. Great guy. Went to the 2013 reunion game with him. Sitting in the stands surrounded by and talking to the heroes of that 1993 team with my son was one of the greatest experiences! Getting to watch the Noles with Winston and Benjamin, and Dalvin Cook while sitting with the former Champs from 93 wasn't bad either. I remember Winston taking off and throwing a block for Cook 25 yards down field that sprung Cook for the TD. One of the players in the stands from the 93 team said, "That was a hiesman move right there" Prescient...GO NOLES!!! FOR LIFE!!!

I tried to stay calm and humble throughout the comeback, but when James Colzie caught that interception I absolutely lost my mind! Go Noles!!!
I was in the stands with 3 Gator friends, it was far from anti climatic my young friends. 5 weeks later we played the 5th Quarter in the French Quarter at the Sugar Bowl, 23-17 WOO HOO! GO NOLES!
"The Choke at Doak". Greatest "Non-Win" for FSU and the most painful "Non-Loss" for the Gators!
I dont believe that loss was as painful as you make it out to be. Considering the rematch was for the National championship 3 weeks later. Do you remember what the final score of that was????
@@vvvhhhhhbb yes 23-17 FSU. The national Championship was January 1997 this was January 1995. I take it you weren't a fan back then
The fifth quarter in the French Quarter….
I watched the game live, and I have seen this video 100 times. I shed a tear just now.
Best ball game ever! Thanks for posting! I was at the stadium that day and forgot to set my VCR before leaving home! #GoNoles!
I was there too! #GoNoles !
Better than my sister and her husband...
...they left after the 3rd quarter!!!
And that's why overtime was invented
And that's why you're an idiot who doesn't understand anything about football. Is that what you call what they have and do now? OT? Football? I have never watched an OT college football. If teams are tied at end of regulation, I turn it off, and pencil the game in as a TIE!! The way it is suppose to be. You simple minded lemmings can't handle it so you need someone else to give you a definitive result to the game by way of some stupid FIFA shootout OT bullshit!!!!
@@aspenrebel That wasn’t necessary to call them an idiot. They created overtime so someone could win.
@@ronaldtaylor2006 yes, it was necessary, and you're one of them by way of your "they created overtime so someone could win" comment. Inference: so someone can lose, as well. If it so important for someone to win (vs a tie), then tell the coaches and players to try harder, play better, be smarter & tougher, and score more points in regulation. Or in the alternative, have the NCAA call up one of the head coaches and tell him to lose on purpose in regulation. If ending in a tie is so abhorrent to everyone's pee brain. What would be the diff between that vs losing in that stupid "isn't football" overtime crap they do. Which basically comes down to luck, or who screwed up, to determine who loses. But since you are incapable of comprehending a tie, then there is no point in even saying anything. Just keep drinking the Kool-Aid, and be sure to keep your mask on while you're doing it. I'm sure all the powers to be will take care of all your necessities over your entire life.
@@aspenrebel accept the truth of overtime saying people have pee brains is dumb calling them an idiot wasn’t necessary you just need to accept the truth that overtime exists but you think what you wanna think and let other people think what they wanna think because I think overtime was a decent idea in college but you calling people an idiot is ignorant and stupid when they did nothing to you
@@ronaldtaylor2006 yes I will think what I want to think not what others tell me to think.
My brother and I were at a sports bar in Jacksonville watching this. All the Noles fans left early thinking it was over. We stayed and watched in horror!
I was pregnant and watching this at home, and spent 3 quarters pissed off… then the fourth quarter happened. My huge 6 months pregnant behind kept jumping up and down, and my husband kept fussing at me to sit down. I still say this is my favorite FSU game ever. I was in Jax too watching this….
has someone already acknowledged that amazing punt? I've never seen anything like it. He managed to kick the ball even with that crap snap and defenders rushing him.. Whatta boss.
Yea I thought the same thing - that was probably the most amazing punt in college football history - he had at least 4 defenders around him and manage to juke a couple and get it off... pretty unreal.
If you like that watch Australian Rules Football (not rugby)
Mich St fans would disagree, but I guess in their case it was more of a punt attempt & not an actual punt. 2015 MSU vs UM. final play of the game. epic.
@@jky3889 Great point.
There had to be about 5 illegal men downfield on that play lol. Linemen can't be more than 5 yards downfield before the ball is punted.

Became a FSU/ college football fan back in 93 watching Charlie Ward win the Heisman. He had it all. Imagine if NFL teams weren't looking for the prototypical pocket passer, he would've excelled in the NFL, had a HOF career if he got the opportunity. Anyway.. I remember watching this game live, the comeback was amazing. The tie was a letdown but ultimately a great game.
When interviewed on the field after the game Bobby Bowden said, "This was a great win for us ... I mean tie."
I remember. “It is a pretty dang-good win-I mean, tie!”
It sure felt like a win. I am sure it felt like a loss to the Gators.
@@kevinmcdonald6477 I'm a Gator, and it felt like a loss for us and I'm sure it felt like a win for FSU fans, but at the end of the day, the game was a tie. Sorry, but as a Gator, we would have gone for the win. You might want to look up one of the the greatest comeback games that I ever saw live. It was Auburn vs Florida in 1986 which was the year I graduated. No overtime. At the end of that game, we didn't go for the tie, we went for the win!
@@danbaron9094 I agree that's the way to do it. Obviously when they brought in overtime most teams play for the tie late and take there chances there. I hope I didn't give the impression that I am an FSU fan because I'm not. But I appreciate great games no matter who is playing.

Amazing 4th quarter. 8 man tackles Danny finding everyone! Legendary!
this was when you go out there and beat the living hell out of each other.
Watching all of this just for a tie. What a middle finger
lollll right? i was expecting overtime sucks they didnt have it back then
They played the overtime on Jan 2 in New Orleans.
Florida State was already out of contention to repeat as National Champs that year because they already had two losses. The Gators had one. By playing for a tie, the Seminoles made sure the Gators were out of any National Championship discussion. I agree about the overtime and the fact OT was played in New Orleans with FSU on top.
tie might as well be a victory down 28 in the 4th lol
Bowden didn’t want to go for two because he didn’t want his team to get that close to winning and lose.
Reminds me "Harvard BEATS Yale 29- 29"
The best part of this is that the crowd was still full, packed and excited.. You'd think a 31-3 4th quarter leave would mean the stadium would be only half full...
True Fans back in the day!
I was there.
On the field.
Got to meet Rick Flair.
In q4 stood in the end zone where all the Noles td’s were scored.
It was deafening.
It was amazing.
It was a memory of a life time.

Should have gone for 2.
I'm too young to have seen this live. I'm a lifelong Gator fan and I had always heard the name "Choke at Doak" but never took the time to look it up. What an insane rally. I'm glad they don't end in ties anymore. I wish the Noles were still this prominent. I'm tired of hearing about Georgia. But with OU and Texas joining the SEC now, who knows what's going to happen.
so many horse collars! I miss old football
Or on the interception where he threw his helmet off and ran up the field taking half the football team with him from the sideline that would have been a unsportsmanlike delay-of-game 15-yard penalty I seen so many things that today would be called

Fuck horse collars, you’d feel different having your leg snapped in half. I miss everything else about old football besides horse collars. They can keep that shit. It fucking hurts.
MayMay0210 exactly I’ve been horse collared and it hurts. The fans only care about themselves and not the players.
I’m all for hard hitting, and not overprotecting QBs, but o disagree. It was the right thing to do for football.

That's because they played football back then.

One of the players in the stands from the 93 team said, "That was a hiesman move right there"

I never fully appreciated the work of the offensive line till today. They bought the quaterback to much time and no stress. The announcer was right, the defense really stepped it up after 2 TD's

Because we sucked from 2005-2009
Colton Burton I guess, but Bama has had some down years. I can see that argument though. Haven't you all made a bowl every year for something like 30 plus years? I know bowl eligible doesn't mean what it used to, but no other school has that rep.

While Steve Spurrier was at UF he never won a game in Tallahassee against FSU
what is sad is that Spurrier Coached the Tampa Bay Bandits in the USFL & had an impressive record at 35-19 & coached Duke for several years, then comes to Florida & goes 5-8-1 against Bobby Bowden & that's including the 2 bowl games
By contrast, while Mark Richt was at UGA he never lost a game in Atlanta against GT. He took his 6-5 team and beat #7 GT in Atlanta, and his team overcame a 20-0 deficit to win at GT. Both of his losses to GT came at home, on the same calendar day (November 29).
