    Just finished my 93 tune with Ryan @ PD Tuning and it's incredible. I'm currently working on the E30 tune with Ryan just as a time if I feel like getting nasty but I'll run my 93 tune 95% of the time. I'm running full bolt ons with stock turbo and stock block and I couldn't be happier. A HUGE DIFFERENCE from the COBB OTS stage 1/2 maps.

    Cobb tunes the ecu, PD tunes the ecu, you won't likely find a big difference, the only difference is the PD tune will just fine tune some parameters on your ecu/engine where the Cobb tune was developed using multiple cars. For a street car the Cobb tune is fine, if you are racing and need every last horse power then a tune for your engine would help.

    Very interesting results, I have a 2019 10r80 as well and I'm getting consistent 5.2 0-60 and 13.4 quarter mile with no tune and few bolt ons. Getting tuned this week by a shop locally we'll see how it goes.

    I actually live out in Vegas to, I own a 2019 base model ecoboost with the 10-speed. I also am currently tuning with Ryan at PD-Tuning. Just wanted to say the biggest thing that woke the car up for me was a downpipe. I opted for a catless downpipe but I feel the tuning process has woken up the car even more. If anything we should link up sometime and do some test pulls! Awesome video's!!!!

    yeah i did the same. actually i preferred that 'smooth' and more instant feel of COBB stage 1 93 over Adams 93 tune.
    BUT... when you wanted to go 1/4 mile or track work with higher speed the custom tune was much faster. around town the COBB felt better. but def not faster. maybe 0.5-1s. But you only notice it on hooligan driving mode.
    E30 is where it was at. E30 pro tune was better in every single sense. felt more solid. lively. reliable. power was brilliant. But the economy was bad lol

    I just went from Cobb stage 1 to a protune from Ryan as well. Ryan's tune is obviously quicker for me, plus the way the boost hits is so much more satisfying with the protune. What mods do you have so far?

    I feel pro-tune is much more worth it if your car is heavily modified.. If you have no-modes or only have an exhaust change the canned tune is probably pretty close to what you need... if you buy cob's stage-2 package with cobb intake and cobb-intercooler and use those as your only mods then their canned "stage2" tune should match that setup well(but don't try on factory inter-cooler) if you upgrade different parts from different vendors and do full-bolt-on upgrades and/or want to mix in methanol or other alternative fuels you'll need a pro-tune to optimize for this.

      Good point!

    • @mynameisdeleted
      @mynameisdeleted 2 года назад

      @@JVette01 I also feel the other very useful purpose of tuning custom is to ensure more accurate afr's, and being able to pull timing in rpm+map-pressure regions that are prone to knock to make the engine last longer, and to be able to ensure you can perform that pull with minimum engine wear and damage.. I'd probably run both again with "knock count" showing as well as "octane-adjust-ratio" showing.. so if they get very similar times but the pro tune has far less knock, its safer.

  • @steveamestoy

    I'd be interested in a cobb stage 2 vs PD tune considering they both require an upgraded intercooler. I think that would be more apples to apples. I have a 2020 HPP with 201A fully loaded running a 5* 91 pro tune along with tuned trans 10spd, i feel the cobb tunes have the boost kick in sooner and feel a bit stronger down low where the pro tune feels a bit stronger up top. My mods are CVF street intercooler, CVF H/C side pipes, K&N drop in filter with Airaid tube. Active exhaust with stock DP.

      @@JVette01 the car feels great, I really enjoy the added power along with the magnaride suspension. I will agree with you that the Cobb tunes feel much smoother as far as shifting. The 5* trans tune shifts through all gears up and down in normal mode. Cobbs OTS tunes aren’t all that great either, so I only recommend them to people who wanna go on vacation and need a tune very aggressive in case you come across shitty gas. Everybody on here needs to remember that the 2.3 Ecoboost especially if it’s not the high-performance back version a.k.a. focus RS, Is gonna nose dive at high RPMs that’s because the cylinder head and turbo are out of efficiency. The reason why this is important it’s because you can get the best turner in the world, to flash your Ecoboost and it won’t be that much faster than a regular OTS Tune. Remember drag racing is all about the launch and maintaining power at higher PMs or having a shift points in the happy spot of the powerband. This is one of the reasons why if you watch 2018 and up Ecoboost Mustang acceleration video you’ll see it short shifting around 5500 RPM, Ford isn’t doing it by mistake
    So just be aware that at higher RPMS and this goes for most modern day turbo engines, if you want to get big gains you’re gonna have to run higher octane E 30 or race gas, Because it’s all gonna come down to timing

I just put in my tuning request even after driving with the stage 1 cobb OTS tune on my car since Friday (the difference is subtle but i feel it when I drive and floor it). Perhaps you need more mods under the hood and get a pro tune from that. like a bigger turbo? a cold air intake? etc....
    So you really go down to mexico to do these??? lol wow.

    • @JVette01
      @JVette01  3 года назад

      It’s because when you put the drive mode in Sport/Track/etc. it doesn’t matter if the shifter is in S or not. For base cars, you’d want to use S since you don’t have the drive mode toggle switches. And yes, I ship my car to Mexico to do these ;)

      For base cars: D is for normal driving (skips gears, shifts smooth) S is for sporty driving (doesn’t skip gears, shifts firm, and allow you to lock it in manual mode with paddles). For my car, it’s the same way, BUT putting the drive mode in Sport also changes the exhaust, steering mode, and suspension (if equipped). You don’t have to have the car in S for it to be in the sport driving mode. Does that make sense?
