Oohhhhh, this sounds very interesting! I'm not much of an eel eater - it's often too salty/fishy for me in sushi - but I may have to try it if it's glaze-grilled! :3 Thank you for the recommendation! Japan's on my to-go list!
I think something really interesting about the Delicious in Dungeon world is that even though all the fantasy elements that make up this world aren’t original, they are incorporated in a way that makes them feel as original as possible. Stuff like fantasy races carry a lot of pre-existing tropes and assumptions with them so I feel that authors usually lean on that as a crutch in a way this series doesn’t. One of my favorite ways in how the author does this is how she includes humans. It might not seem like there’s a trope for how humans are done in fantasy at first but in retrospect it’s definitely there especially in DnD inspired content. This is the idea of humans being the basic, generic, or default race. This makes sense from an audience perspective because we’re human so the human race is the normal one and the others are creative variations that authors came up with. In Dungeon Meshi, however, humans are known as Tall-men the same way Halflings/Hobbits are known as Half-foots. (It’s been mentioned a few times in the anime already but I’m not sure if you picked up on it.) I think the intent behind this is to make the tall-men feel unique within the world even if they’re the most normal to us. For example, I believe they are the tallest on average out of all the races you’ve seen so far. Fantasy doesn’t usually do that, but it’s done here and I think that’s cool.
I love the visuals of the 4th floor too! The aquamarine water, that bright red kraken Useless production trivia: that's Falin's va singing the mermaid song, so it’s kind of a brother-sister duet
I LOVE the visuals as well - it's so cool - but I'm a sucker for a water level! And oooh that is so cool about the mermaid having falin's va voice! Nice! Thank you for the comment and info!
Senshi: *explaining his lesson about the ecosystem * chilchuck and marcille: laios is dying senshi: this ain't about him Huzza! the dreaded water level of any videogame! this one is for sure a fantastic episode. I like seeing how hard Kabru's party fails, it kinda recontextualizes that laios' party aren't half bad since no one has died yet! and they have less people too so good for them. Laios truly is THE dogboy ever we really have to go "what are you eating. WHAT ARE YOU EATING SPIT IT OUT DROP IT". Laios singing the mermaid song is one of my FAVORITE JOKES it's fantastic. and his complex perception on monsters is great too... and ofc marcille and senshi both getting to shine! I like that while senshi has this wise old mentor energy and this wisdom regarding life, he CAN be wrong or impulsive/stubborn in his ways. and marcille does magic yes, but she is also a hard worker in her own way! and that hug, awww ah! since you mentioned confusion with the living armor, I believe in the ep they reference what looked like old, busted up armor, and later laios realizes that was probably living armor that was still growing and not yet a full armor! at least, that was my understanding of it ahaha hope it made sense
Look at Senchi breaking societal norms and getting all the up skirt shots. 👌😂 I really enjoy the team conflicts that get resolved in 1 episode. Hahaha poor Kabru's team. I can't wait for them to start interacting properly with Laios' team aka BEING ALIVE.
If Senshi is our mold-breaker getting all the gaze shots, I'm okay with that subversion! And yes, I love how these characters all interact with one another, too! But poor Team Kabru, YES! HAHAHA, I'm waiting for them to last an episode without dying as well! XD Thank you for the comment!
This episode is so good! I love the Kelpie and I'm total with you on all the childhood horse girl shows XD I try not to think about the parasites too hard. Definitely the scariest thing in the show. I try to just think of it as eel instead because that is delicious and much less creepy 😂 I want to try making savory oatmeal now. I feel like it would be really good with chicken or ham too.
Horse shows for "girls" were inescapable in the 80's and 90's! And yeah, I don't want to think about the parasites, either, haha!! And yes, eels (while not my cup of tea) are less creepy! But yeah, savory oatmeal? Not bad! Thank you for the comment!
This anime does a great job of giving answers to everything over time, so don't worry Romania, 99% of your questions will be answered as the episodes go by.
THANK YOU - yes, I will apologize ahead of time because in episode 9, I got aggravated by commenters that are trying to tell me information that the show will eventually tell me itself. I know this, just let me experience the show, ask my questions, and wait for the show to give me answers! :) Thank you for the comment and understanding - it's frustrating when viewers don't have faith in the creators they're watching!
@RomaniaBlack I think it's horrible when people want to explain something ahead of time when the work itself will already explain it, I hope it hasn't interfered with your experience too much. The only good way to explain things to me is precisely when something is said but misunderstood, like for example the phrase regarding Laios' death in episode 3.
As someone currently studying in medicine (and just someone who hates the thought of parasites) I violently refuse to watch the end of this episode again every time I watch a new reaction. Seeing that once was good enough for me A super good episode and yet, one of the grossest possible recipes in this show. I would eat most of the monsters but parasites? Keep that far away, thank you very much
Right?! Parasites are a NIGHTMARE to me! So yeah, I just don't know if I could! That's awesome about you studying medicine, though! Thank you for the comment!
The griffin, griffon, or gryphon is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion, and the head and wings of an eagle with its talons on the front legs. - Wikipedia. I think people are giving you a bad time because you accidently say Griffith, as in the character from Berserk, a lot. My first thought was to use Tapioca pearls for the eggs. I never would have thought of using pomagranet seeds. But then, my store doesn't carry any pomagranet. #rural life. In fact, your store carries a lot more than my local store, so feel blessed. This episode I realised we have the same stove. Yours is cleaner. Less grease stains.
(Reworked my comment and took out anything that might have been vague spoiler? xD I had to gues, since I'm anime only and couldn't spot anything that was a spoiler, considering I only talked about things happening in episode 7 and 6. So my best gues is that I accidentaly hinted at something that will come up in the manga?) Ah yes, the episode where mister "knows it all" Senshi get's humbled by beeing thought that does, in fakt, not always know better! Don't see the need in washing your beard? Have fun sinking like a stone. Don't wanna use magic as "the easy way out"? Don't wanna listen to Lios warning about monsters beeing dangerous, becouse you "know better"? Get nearly drowned and eaten by a Kelpie. No magic to kill the fish, even though there are to many? Good luck dealing wit a kraken that actively endangers the natural order of that lake! (Considering Senshi has slowly started to piss me off this rewatch, this episode was strangely satisfying xD) I actually don't have much to say for this episode, so mini thoughts it is! -The scene with Chilchuck and the sirens? Some people on AO3 took the idea that he heard them first becouse of his better hearing, and RAN with it xD -Also, Lios calling Chilchuck by a Nickname? O.o Also, also: the banter? I know you have you Kaburo x Laios ship, but can I subtly point you in the direction of another potential ship, right there? :3 That's all from me this episode. Great reaction as always, and I'll see you in the next one! ^^
The mods just mark anything that could lead to a spoiler later on, or if they don’t know you’re anime only, they may mark something that the show will tell me later on, just to be safe! But no worries! But anyway, hahaha, Senshi definitely got humbled this episode! I feel if you were frustrated with Senshi, this was a good episode to get him and Marcille on similar wavelengths! ^^ Oohhhh, I LOVE the concept of Chilchuck hearing the sirens first because of his hearing; that’s super cool! And the banter with Laios and Chilchuck…hmmm…you know…I’m always up for another ship in the harbor! HAHAHA!!! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I appreciate it!
@@RomaniaBlack I'm just glad I managed to remove what ever "triggered" the mods spoiler-senses ^^ I think this was the first time any of my comments got marked as spoiler, at least as far as I can remember! xD But hey! There is a first time for everything! xD
> the golems Its kind of a bad comparison from Senshi because he has to fight the golems every time. He just charges in with the shovel to hit the core’s he put there. Like senshi just compared the “safe” kelpie to the aggressive golems. Like bro you shot down your own argument
33:00 It is modeled after the Japanese haute cuisine "鰻の蒲焼き glaze-grilled eel".
Please try it when you come to Japan😋
Oohhhhh, this sounds very interesting! I'm not much of an eel eater - it's often too salty/fishy for me in sushi - but I may have to try it if it's glaze-grilled! :3 Thank you for the recommendation! Japan's on my to-go list!

Laois’s luck?
Nah dude is all about that brain power. Look at all the monster facts he laid out this episode.
Thanks for the comments!
Horses have high temperatures so it is safe to eat them raw but cooked horse meat is good too had plenty ikea meatballs back in the day
