its probably already been mentioned, but the pieces Lakan sees are Go pieces and Shogi (Chess) pieces. Jinshi and Gaoshen are chess pieces. If you look up Shogi, you'll find the names of the pieces. Lakan as Sherlock's brother, Mycroft. Yes!! Those were my thoughts too. I love that in this anime we have a female Sherlock and a female Moriarty!

Lakan is an interesting character in the anime, even more so in the novel. His part is probably the most interesting part of this section in the novel for me. the Lakan-Jinshi conversation at the beginning of the episode doesn't happen in the novel. It's just Maomao drawing poisonous mushrooms for the baby then to Jinshi asking Maomao for help. the one difference in the conversation is in the novel Maomao asks if everyone was on opium and that caused Jinshi's freakout to the point Gaoshun almost had to interfere. This makes me think as if this book is taking place around the time of the second opium epidemic. Like towards the beginning of the last eunic of china. Obviously the characters are fake. But it's still an interesting idea. The "growing the roses" segment is very much telling instead of showing in the book. It's just Maomao explaining to the reader what happened. including the But the party is show from two different perspectives, Jinshi's and Lakan. we only get part of Lakan's thoughts in the show. From Jinshi's POV we get that Lakan was nibbling on chicken he hid in his sleeve when he wasn't supposed to be eating at all and was obviously not wanting anyone to notice him doing it. Jinshi noticed and is upset because no matter how rude Lakan is, he never gets reprimanded. Lakan is also sitting in the front row. He takes the hat from the person beside him, revealing the man to be bald with a wig sewn into his hat. This caused a minor uproar. Lots of gasps and angry glares. I'm not sure if the shock is because the man is bald, because Lakan took a guys hat for seemingly no reason, or both. Then it cuts to Lakan's POV. It reads almost as if he had amnesia, really bad short term memory, or something. He has some rather major mental problems going on. He knows he's at a banquet. He doesn't know how he got there, what the banquet is for, or why he is present. He also doesn't know why he has a random hat and wig in his hand or how it got there. Like he literally has no idea that he took a hat from a guy. He put put the hat down beside him and the bald man beside him snatches the hat up, glares at him, and puts it on. Lakan has no idea who that guy is or why that guy or anyone else is mad at him. No idea what so ever. It also mentions that he can't see what people look like. Everyone SAYS Jinshi is beautiful but he has no idea what Jinshi looks like so he has to take everyone else's word for it.

On the time skip, the creators have stated that it’s been 6-8 months since the end of episode 3. And a fun fact about the music. The very Doom-like song for when “Vandwick” attacks Stillwater Prison is called The Beast and the melody of it (which you can’t really hear in the episode but it’s clear in the soundtrack) is a distorted and dissonant version of “Dear Friends Across the River” the tune Powder sung on the bridge in the prologue and Jinx eerily hummed after her firelight bombs went off on the bridge in season 1 episode 7. Also love that I’m not the only person who appreciates Sevika’s arms.

Knowing of Lakan's "most jobs get done by putting the right person on them" mentality really puts in perspective a lot of what we have seen him say and do. He's the one who put the seaweed case on Maomao's way, and specifically wanted her to solve the metalworker's will. It seems he thought she was the right person for the job. And at the end of that, we saw that he valued each of the brothers putting their talent to good use. Based on that, I wonder what exactly he saw in Lihaku. He's not particularly smart, so I think he has a similar view of him as Maomao: when she was appraising his body, she thought that his body was the product of diligent hard work. I think Lakan appreciates the dedication, even more so now that this episode indicates he used to put in time himself to make blue roses. He puts a high stock in talent. I was waiting until this episode or the next to comment on the Mycroft similarity because I was waiting on the explicit mention of the "put the right person on it" of it all, but someone else already did it.

I don't know if you watched The Great Passage but that's also based on a novel by Shion Miura and it was published in English as well. I hope you can read/ watch that as well.

Lakan’s vision of not being able to see faces and only seeing game pieces is from two different games: go and shoji. Go is the one with black and white stones with no rank, and shogi is the ones with ranks.

We've done the dyeing flowers routine in homeschool a few times and we're fixing to do it again this year because we're studying botany for science and it's a great way to demonstrate the functions of xylem and phloem. We normally use celery (so the tubes are easy to identify) and carnations. Very few things in nature are actually true blue. Most are a shade of purple or green or use tricks of light to appear blue. Lakan sees people as go stones OR chess pieces (technically, xianqi, a type of Chinese chess). The go stones represent common people that have no individual significance to him. Chess pieces have individual roles (like chariots, generals, and cannons). That's why he said some people appear to him as chess pieces "at best". He recognize they have a specific use, but not much beyond that.

I agree with Romania. The final arc adds so much to **spoilers ** Hinata. It’s all about how Hinata becomes Ninja Shoyo, how he forsakes the Little Giant title and becomes his own player. So much growth and it’s going waste because they don’t care enough to make 2 seasons more. Like a season 5 of 25 episodes completing the nationals and season 6 being post nationals would have been so much better. I am still hoping that they announce a season 5 reanimating the garbage dump and everything else that follows.😔 The part after this match was so crucial for fans who waited patiently for Hinata’s growth. Him meeting Oikawa in Brazil, Oikawa joining Argentina team, facing Japan in nationals. Kageyama backstory, Karasuno losing because of Hinata’s fever. My only gripe was I needed some more time with Karasuno post the Kamomedai match which just shows how great a team they were. Like such a wholesome and positive story but won’t get its due. I watched ace of the diamond and it easily surpassed Haikyu to be my fav sports anime but rewatching Haikyu made me realise that Naah this is still at the top. Just that it shares the spot with Ace of the diamond now 😂

Watch it again dubbedd. So much better.

To be honest, I really waiting your video about this Haikyuu New Movie. For me, Karasuno vs Nekoma is the most wholesome match in the entire Spring High.

This is such a blast to the past because I found you from your Haikyuu reactions back in the day :) MANGA SPOILERS AHEAD: As a manga reader, this is my favorite match from the series, and I think that they did it justice to a degree? I enjoyed it less because I’m a manga reader and could see what they cut out (such as Inuoka’s backstory, the Kageyama stuff, and the Noya save), but I do love how they made the most of the time they had and innovated a lot using the animation. I’m pretty apprehensive on the rest of the series? There’s no way that they don’t adapt the rest of timeskip after this next (and “last”) movie because this series is so popular and makes so much money, but it sucks that we have no confirmation on when that will come. We also might not get Fukurodani vs. Mujinazaka which is a great match as well :( Here’s hoping we get a great adaptation from here on out!

I normally don't comment if I'm too late but this time I felt I had to, I saw in one of your comments theres a set of chapters that you hated and I knew it had to be this one and i do understand you, after that other scene I was expecting their 2nd time to be something else but it was a shame MXTX decided to go this way, I feel like she really wanted to explore kinks and things like that but she didnt quite know how to yet, eventually she did it better for MDZS, I think this kind of thing goes well with a character like WWX but not with SSQ, and the fact that there's even a part in MDZS where WWX puts a limit (the spanking) and LWJ stops and totally respects that shows her growth. And as other people say 2ha might not be down your ally due to its darker theme, however the character and relationship growth and development it's soooo much better, the dark scenes are not meant to be romanticized and despite that it ironically ended up being one of the most romantic danmei I've read (sounds confusing but can't go too deep into it in case you'll want to read it though lol) , that being said I totally understand if you don't wanna read it or at least not yet, I myself was very unsure about it but since it was so popular I decided to give it a go and read it all before it was licensed and it ended up being my 3rd fave novel after TGCF and MDZS, 4th is Yuwu by the same author which is way more tamed and really romantic too if you want to give that one a try, there's also people that read it while skipping certain scenes but I don't know how that might worked for them, although I can tell you there are definitely scenes when it's not neccesary to read the details, of course only do what it's confortable for you, I'll accompany you to your next danmei journey whatever it is, and don't worry everyone has their own views never feel bad about that ^^

I don't know if anyone mentioned this already but the scene you said looked like a painting in this episode is based on the painting Olympia by Edouard Manet. There sure are some connections on can make between what is meant to be portrayed in the painting and Mikage as a character. The thing I found interesting tho is that in the original painting there is a black cat on the bed that is missing in the scene from the show. With the black cats being pointed at in episode 22, it seems intentional, but I still have no clue what the black cats are meant to represent...

i would like to propose, in my opinion, that Isha already believes in the revolution, not sue to Jinx directly, but indirectly. She already knows the suffering and oppression of Zaun, she's seen the brutality (her little mining outfit reminds me of Silco in S1 saying the miners had it worst before the 1st revolution that culminated in the bridge scene in EP1 S1, and the connection of this). Seeing Jinx, as the 'heir' to Silco, and how she saves her from the goons,,,now she has someone to believe in. Much like a young kid, she believes Jinx can save Zaun like how she saved her.

Hello! coming late, i'm just watching this as i wanted to get accumulated a lot of videos so i could binge lol Sending virtual hugs<33 i reacted the same when i first read this part, and although i don't agree with every opinion you have/had about svsss, i do agree with everything you said about volume 3. SVSSS is my least fav of MXTX works but I still quite enjoy it, so I hope when you finish this series (maybe you already finished it, as you film these ahead) you can remember more the times you laughed and enjoyed this story than the upsetting times- that works for me, anyway. It's interesting because even among Natsume fans, relatively few people talk about Sasada. Not many people talk about Sasada, except to say that she hardly ever appears in the manga. Anyway It was super fun to watch the awesome season 3 together. I'm looking forward to the next seasons, OVAs, and movies. edit: I always wondered if another subtitle could be selected? The translation is very simplified and ignores the nuances of the dialogue (for a native Japanese speaker), which bothers me every time. The subtitles Teeaboo(another youtuber) used were great, so it bothers me even more, if it's something you can't control, I'm sorry that I said too much. But it's a factor that affects the viewing experience a lot, you know, and I just wanted you to feel exactly how good the series is.

Yey, congratulation for finishing season 3!! Season 4 is on my top 1 favorite season so far. Literally 8/13 of the episodes are in my top 20 episodes of Natsume Yuujinchou. So I'm really looking forward to your reactions!! <3

Yeah.... I don't like LBH. I don't think I'm able to relate with main characters in general, but I do tend to think of the situation on the perspective of the MCs and how I would have acted, principally when their fellings are described, I can't take it as a fun time, so I don't like them together. So... yeah, I think this is why the ships that are not cannon are able to get more popularity. The novel looks like a fanfic that's not perfect, so it makes us try looking for our own version. I really love the story for the side characters, the main couple ended up being just the people I have to tolerate to meet the others characters. I don't really like SY too, I don't relate with his way of doing things. I would love if you read 2HA/ERHA because I really like your theories, but I don't think you should, especially after SVSSS, maybe for a future read, but not after this. I would recommend Remnants of Filthy before 2HA, but both are heavy reads, so maybe some novel that is not from Meatbun (⁠•⁠ ⁠▽⁠ ⁠•⁠;⁠) ha ha ha.....

the introduction of "natsume's dogs" at last lol what i like about this name for natsume's youkai entourage (Inu no Kai) is that it has been translated in so many ways, and my fav of them all is "the dog's circle" bc back in the day when the manga/anime was being translated only by fansubs this was the one that stuck for the longest and the english speaking fanbase used/uses it the most, it makes me feel so nostalgic ❤

I'm posting this separately since it could still be considered a spoiler as it is about something that ultimately does not happen, even in the extras. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I was sorely disappointed that a System reveal and/or an identity reveal never happened in the original novel. Binghe is Binghe and he is very much a toxic manipulative brat, but at the same time SQQ never truly stops lying to him so is Binge really wrong not to trust him? I don't know if this is where SQQ's endless fountain of guilt and self sacrifice comes from, but you could certainly make a case for it. I kept waiting for the System to go away or break and give SQQ the opportunity to come clean and finally truly tell LBH EVERYTHINGH!!!! I think after that they could finally once and for all communicate and start putting LBH's insecurities to rest. But no... Instead we ride our swords into our happily ever after clusterfuck of a relationship that somehow kind of works for now maybe...? Yeah, the biggest gripe I have with the series.

going from ch 87 -> ch 89 feels like a repeat of ch 75 -> ch 79-81. In the sense that we're going from "wow communication! Romance! Positive development for Bingqiu ahead?" to "Oh. yikes 😬(to put it very mildly)"

I was shook by the Caitlyn & Maddie scene too😂😂😂😂I literally screamed & paused my tv in shock🫠Had to take a few moments. Vi is my favorite character so I felt personally attacked😂😂😂😂I want the best for her. They are really putting us through it!! Also there’s been some time that has passed. They don’t say it in the show but it’s been about 3 to 6 months. We see there’s been a time jump with some hair differences & Ekko’s Mural. The Warwick reveal had me CRYING SO HARD!! I was a mess. I couldn’t believe they would bring him back especially in THIS WAY. A WEREWOLF?! So disrespectful😭but so cool tho😂in the worst way. I love your brother getting so excited & wanting to tell you what he knows of Warwick😂It’s definitely huge for him to keep such a huge reveal. Props to him. Sadly it was spoiled for me a few days before it premiered but I didn’t believe it until this episode. It was still shocking to see. So brutal. A true horror movie🩸What a way to start Act 2✨

I think the part where the zaunites silently tap jinx is so critical to jinx.. I think because she hasn’t really been seen much apart from silcos reputation, she’s seen as an idol rather than a human. Jinx often acts super flamboyantly, getting herself out there. The more gentle act makes me feel that jinx doesn’t have to be like that all the time, which I find so heartwarming! I think this also is what leads jinx to embrace her “hero role”. Also AAAH I loc Warwick! I play him a lot in lol, though I kinda don’t like his design in arcane, even though I understand why.. I HIGHLY recommend going through the lol bios once you have finished arcane! They adapt warwicks story quite well imo! Poor vander though… subject to singed’s warped experimentation.. at least this allows him to act as a catalyst for vi and jinx’s characters! Lastly! I was a little sad when u said Jinx wasn’t exactly ur fave cuz she’s mine lmao! This season will definitely be big for her, so I hope you like her more! I’m curious as to who your fave is! Yeah, I’m gonna suggest you to stay far away from meatbun novels, she’s my favorite danmei author, but all three of novels i’ve read by her are filled with very unhealthy dynamics between the characters and are messier and darker.

Man this was not good for us bingqiu enjoyers huh😅 i agree with the comments in the regard to jot read meatbun if you couldntstan these 2, at least not immediately, although i dont think it's the exact same and they do take longer to get together and i feel the development felt less rushed than bq, they are still in the not so healthy spectrum (in my opinion they have a pretty healthy realionship at the end tho), i feel like this novel maybe just frustrated you too much because of all the unreliable narration and because i feel it was meant to be taken more comedic than seriously most times, but it could be an issue of perspective and maybe even translataion, i hope you feel better now and dont feel pressured to even finish this book if you dont feel like it :c (i dont think theres anymore of these scenes than this but still)

Man I gotta say... I really want to see your reaction to Trapped (Olgami) even though it's just a manhwa. It's one of my favorite toxic relationships. Unlike SQQ and LBH, they're much more toxic but they fit each other really well, there's awareness and acceptance, communication too, very muh I'd argue... That's what makes me ship them so bad. Story is nice too. Deep. Watching your discussions, I keep wondering if you'd like it or not. Now you might not make a video for it but decide to read it in your own time maybe? So quick warning: It's going to frustrate you, I nearly dropped it from frustration but it was more than worth it, a total rollercoaster. And the frustration is not the same as SVSSS so you're safe on that part. In case you read it, I'm not spoiling anything about the story but just a trigger warning(ish) thing: There's not much workig through their issues but believe me, they don't need to. This couple knows where they're coming from and they're fine with it, they love it the way it is. (That doesn't mean they get used to the toxicity, totally different things.) I normally hate the trope but to me, this is a very good example of enemies to lovers. I just hope I can see your reaction to it someday cause it's been bugging me for a while now 😅 You're probably gonna hate them both 😂 It's just a story of the worst meeting the worst and they click really well. So for the first time I actually did skip you reading the chapters. I've read the books before so I'm not missing any content, especially with the reviews at the end. I just really really really hate seeing someone cry or be upset when I can't comfort them, so thank you for the warning at the start.

I’m going to highly recommend you don’t read Meatbun Novels. Maybe Remnants of Filth(yuwu) could be ok but it takes a decent amount of time for them to communicate and there is still elements of non-con between side characters. I highly recommend Golden Terrace or The Disabled Tyrants Beloved Pet Fish. Both books contain communication between the main couples and don’t contain non-con(that I can remember).

I want to start by saying I don’t begrudge you your opinions-they are valid, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. That said, I couldn’t pinpoint why I dislike your opinion on SQQ/LBH not being ship material in SVSSS, considering that I agree they’re not, until this video. Now, however, I realize it’s because I feel called out. My dislike of SQQ/LBH doesn’t make sense when compared to my usual taste. Even though I don’t ship them either, I think I’ve realized they’re actually tamer and healthier than the non-canon side ships I tend to prefer. For example, Xue Yang/Xiao Xingchen and He Xuan/Shi Wudu (and no, I don’t mean Shi Qingxuan or Beefleaf-I mean Shi Wudu, the one He Xuan beheaded with his bare hands like a twist-top soda bottle). Your judgment of MXTX for writing SQQ/LBH as the main ship makes me feel like there’s something morally wrong with me for shipping murderers with their victims in her other works. Honestly, it’s tough because I love those dynamics, but I also recognize that they’re darker and messier than the idealized romances that are typically seen as "healthy," and that’s exactly what I find compelling. This critique of SQQ/LBH makes me question my tastes in a way that feels uncomfortable-especially since the canon main couples in both those works would’ve made me DNF without the rarepairs/non-canon ships I mentioned, because healthy relationships in fiction are just such a snoozefest for me. Especially the communication-It’s boring and takes all the feral, horny intensity out of the sex. It still confuses me why I don’t like LBH/SQQ the more I watch your reviews, because all the things you hate about them are usually exactly what gets me invested in a ship. But it’s like the opposite problem you have-there’s just too much vanilla in there for me. Tl;dr: You dislike them because they’re toxic...I dislike them because they feel like they’re too genuinely in-love for me to enjoy them. If it's not angst, tragedy, or doomed-yaoi, what’s the point (for me specifically)?

Oooh you finally reached THAT chapter... Hi, Luo Binghe stan here, again. I absolutely hate him in this chapter 😅 He's one of my fictional husbands but yeah... He needs a good beating there. I wished so badly for SQQ to just smack him there, even if it's just his fan to the head... Put him in his fricking place, SQQ! Otherwise this really can't work...

I'm one of the people commenting fandom facts along the way, though I always tried to make sure to point out it was a fanon and not canon. Part of it is because I thought it was a fun way to engage without spoiling anything yet to come, but part of it is that I really love the SVSSS fandom. So many fans have taken the setting and the story and ran with it in so many different and interesting directions: a thousand fix-it fics, but also plenty of crack and authors just throwing more gasoline on this shit show because, I don't know, they like to watch the world burn?? :D Frankly I haven't had this much fun with fanfiction since high school and that was a long while ago for me too. I agree that the source material is less than perfect. I was very much also not thrilled with the ending and thought the extras were all over the place. There were also many relationship plotpoint that I waited and waited to be addressed, just to ultimately wait in vain (MXTX does this in other novels too, but not with the main couples). Is it true to life that some conflicts never resolve? 100%!! But it's still deeply unsatisfying in a narrative. Downvote. Ultimately I'm in the camp "Bingyuan is supposed to be dysfunctional and it's supposed to be a feature/funny". Does all of it land for me?.... no. But some of it does. For example: Binghe who was written to be a bad-ass all powerful stallion protagonist with a three digit harem of flowers turned into a jealous housewife? I think it's kind of funny. That jealous housewife manipulating his low sex-drive husband into his kinks and not letting him hang around with his friends and family? Not as funny. I didn't remember the first chapter of this chapter set being quite as bad as it was, but yeah... I agree: it was pretty bad. You could argue Binghe was trying to kink-negotiate with the booklets, but if so he was doing it super poorly. Yup. Less than perfect...

I just hate Lou Binghe and SSQ's relationship. I hate it so much that it's the only MXTX lead couple who's ship name I refuse to remember. I know someone people say they are the Best MXTX couple and I'm just sitting here going "why?". And the more I read of it, the more I hate it. I had a sister who was always in unhealthy relationships but stayed with the guys even while they r*pe her , stole from her, and beat her because she "loved" them and "they're not that bad when you get to know them". And I just want to kill LBH on my sister's behalf. if that makes any sense. I'm so glad MXTX did better on the other couples.

Ooh, such great reaction and review of this episode. Stuff setting up for S2, Act II! Woohoo! The time jump seems very ambiguous here, I agree. One month to even half a year could have passed. Shoutout to RB’s brother! Clever man. Some of the stuff he says is cool. I can see where Mel got her manipulative skills from given Ambessa’s interactions with Caitlyn. Speaking of Ambessa, when she corrects Rictus on not saying the Black Rose group, I only think about Will Smith: “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth!” 🤣 Back on a serious note with Ambessa, I see like a qausi-daughter-mother relationship with them going on. Caitlyn seems readily to listen to Ambessa. I believe this because Caitlyn doesn’t have a living mom anymore. She finds guidance and a maternal aura from Ambessa. Jinx seems to able reflect on her actions since Isha has come to her life. I think another aspect to this more calmer version of her has to do with her killing Silco in the last season. I agree that workers can construct something without knowing what the whole picture is. Only the top people knows how and why these pieces works together. The pink brothel owner yordle’s voice actress died. I heard they animated the yordle touching Jinx as a tribute to her. Actions having consequences is a running theme throughout Arcane. Even something minute as leaving a trail of blood has consequences. This season seems also the season of repeating phrases with slightly different meanings and nuances. Mel speaking about two against one to what Salo said, Viktor echoing Singe’s words about paths diverging, Sevika talking about doing enough favors as a retort back to Jinx, and now the double-edged blade Caitlyn fired back at Ambessa. We haven’t seen Ekko, Heimerdinger, and Jayce in a hot minute, S2 EP3. We only hear about Viktor but not seen him since S2 EP2. Trauma being used as an excuse to do horrible things is also something I don’t like narratively or in real life. I know some people who pulls that card and it never goes anywhere. I have trauma but I do my best not to traumatize others, knowing how painful and devastating it is. Wholly applaud that Arcane wasn’t leaning into that narrative device. When Jinx was talking to Isha, she let her monkey bomb tick a little longer before shutting it off. It reminded me the scene from season one when Mel was proposing to weaponize HexTech to Jayce and Viktor got upset. He too let the bomb tick for a few seconds before cutting it off to demonstrate to Jayce that “there is always a choice.” I too was thrown off by Isha’s bunny ears. Couldn’t tell if they were accessories or real. Positively sure they were just accessories.

I'd recommend your next Danmei either be something very gentle like the Disabled Tyrants Beloved Pet Fish (ive heard its very fluffy), or if you want to do a show and a novel, watch word of honor and read its novel. There is some questionable stuff between WenZhou, but its within the bounds of typical romance novel stuff imo. They are very sweet in the show and more grumpy in the book because ZZS is more of a tsundere in the novel, but its not that bad even though i dont like their novel dynamic as much. Definitely dont read Erha. Its not something you'd enjoy. If you want to read a meatbun novel, Remnants of Filth would be the one I'd recommend for you, but its pretty angsty. Her other works are more like Erha and typically have NC and toxic relationships.
