*LUMINESCENT HEADPHONE WARNINGS*
I cannot believe this is the season finale! It definitely does NOT feel like it and I'm so ready to dive into the manga, now!
But officially: Pad is Rad! I love them! And ooohhh, my heart mildly breaks for Cinnabar and Phos - I just want them both to be happy and closer together! Anyway, let's talk about this finale and the anime as a whole!
Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

I bet they had a debate in the studio about letting Sensei speak and create a hook for a potential second season or just a "read the manga" type thing but I'm glad they went with what we got. Mirroring the first episode leaves the focus on how far Phos has come, for better or worse. Despite being an incomplete adaptation, this is one of my favourite anime. Soundtrack, voice acting and characters are all top tier. Completely changed my mind about 3d animation too, I don't think the gems would've looked as good if this was hand drawn.
I also love Padpa, for a character with barely 3 minutes of screen time, he makes such an impression. Also love Euclase, she does stay in the background so maybe a bit hard to remember but I feel like she is one of the more mature and caring gems around, also her Silver&Blue colours are cute.
I only point this out because I see that you already read past chapter 36 of the manga:
The small change they did to the end of the Cinnabar conversation felt a bit awkward and it just stands out to me because the I love the rest of the adaptation. In the manga Cinnabar only floats the idea of pairing up after Phos has already walked away and is way out of earshot but in the anime they make it seem like Phos stops and listens to Cinnabar and doesn't answer?
I'm about to watch your manga reaction so I don't know if you comment on it but it just feels like an unnecessary change to me.
I really wish we had a 2nd season, but I think this one ended off well - I’m excited to see where the manga takes me! And yes, Padpa is soooo dynamic already! And Euclase, I do like their design more and more! And YES, that part with Cinnabar and the change from this episode - we’ll talk about that this coming week with the manga! Thank you for the comment!
it may be a setup episode but it does its job magnificantly to end the season. this was one of my first anime and its just such a beautiful example of what the media can do.
Yessss, I was overall really happy with how the anime ended the season in this episode, but definitely got me wanting to read the manga! Thank you for the comment!
Most reviewers/reactors were just happy about the prospect of Phos and Cinnabar teaming up, so I appreciate that you highlighted the fixation which Phos has on Lunarian investigation actually carries a sad tone in regards to the pair.
Yesssss, while I love that Phos hasn't forgotten Cinnabar completely, it makes me really sad that their "purpose" for Cinnabar they were searching for has altered. :( I am glad they're teaming up, but sad at the fixation Phos has and what it's costing...let's see how the manga handles that, shall we! :P Thank you for the comment!
The author of the manga, whose name I cannot recall at the moment, started off as an industrial designer. Studio Orange did a very good job of translating her visual language and design sensibility onto the screen for the anime. (That shot of Rutile with the white sheet for instance.) The visual design of the manga does not dissapoint.
Oohhh, I can SO see the connection to the mangaka being an industrial designer! That actually really makes a lot of sense! Thank you for the comment and the information!
Sorta unrelated, but remember the Stranger by the Shore Yaoi movie?
The animators that worked on that film animated a short 1 minute long Land of the Lustrous anime back in 2013.
So if ur curious as to how Land of the Lustrous would look as a 2D animated anime I highly recommend checking it out.
i dont know if ill be able to handle a reread of the manga (its so good but yk how the anime is lol) i look forward to it regardless and your thoughts on it. i was so sad it ended and just recently too
Another beautiful anime is gone 😢.
but we will have the manga here soon 💚
Yes, excited to dive into the manga with you all! But yes, I wish they had a second season! Thank you for the comment!
Padparadscha is Gordeous ❤
Yes! I LOVE their design!
Maybe the gems being the bones can be seen as an exposure of the core of both our purities and insecurities that drive our decisions.
That very well could be! Thank you for the comment!
She started reading manga, we wish her good luck
Spoilers:
Pain, pain, pain, pain
hell yeah! TRAUMATIZED indeed
Unfortunately i will probaly not be able to follow your manga reaction, because I'm still not able to organize my time for reading manga
Hopefully you can check out the videos for support, but thank you for the comment!
