HDTVTest Thanks Vincent, was wondering about that.
Disappointed
HDTVTest Vincent, if I may ask, please... If you are at liberty to answer bluntly, hiw does "EU" tcl's even compare to this model (disregarding dolby, and I know they have "much" lower lag of 24ms) ?
HDTVTest
hi , please help
in your opinion, is it better upscaling with Sony xf90 or with Oppo udp203?
thank you
You went way out of your way to review a budget TV. We appreciate it Vincent.

hi , please help in your opinion, is it better upscaling with Sony xf90 or with Oppo udp203? thank you
I don't think you do .if you did you would send $400 to my PayPal
@@supremeleaderharryballs8104 why do i have to send 400$? lol lol
MY friend , I stumbled upon your channel and man I'm happy I did, love your channel, keep up the great work!!!
I too watch TV from the front. It's a trend.
Great video!!! Thank you for the great video and all the details! Very informative over many other review videos.
Love the quality content. Thank you for reviewing the TCL 6-series for our market.
I bought last years TCL 605 and love it! HDR Gaming, HDR RUclips and no hassle Dolby Vision is worth every penny. It has allowed me to save for the Z9F but I’ll still keep the TCL in the family. Thx for the review!
Great Review, thanks for your efforts.
Now a subscriber cause you keep it real and the dedication of traveling all the way to the US to give your opinion. Was on the fence about purchasing a TCL 6 but now that it has your blessing its a no brainer. Thanks for all you do Vincent. Cant wait to see how you feel about the Vizio PQ65.
Is there anything that comes close to the value for your money proposition that the TCL 6 series? I am currently looking for a 55” tv. not sure if I should get a vizio or a tcl or the newly advertised toshiba w/ dolby vision from
amazon.
I purchased the TCL 55R615 because of your review. Your review was spot on and well balanced. After watching hours of TV /movies and comparing the picture and feature to our Sony, I can say this TV was a great buy.
Mr Pangy i just bought the same model R615 from bestbuy $549 after watching this review
Curious, how is the TV holding up today?I just ordered one for $450 but a little worried about the longevity.
@@Ford-wt8rn Hello. The tv power supply went bad and was replaced under warranty. If possible, I suggest getting the "extended warranty" for this product. Otherwise it has been working well. The pict quality is very good and the reviews are right on.
@@mrpangy4174 thanks for the response- was the the TCL warranty or one of those extended ones you used?
You are the best Tv Reviewer on You Tube! 👍🏼
Great voice for reviews bro! very thorough review
Great video as always
Love his reviews !
Thank you for this! I've had a 1080p Sony Bravia since 2010 and after going back and forth and watching a ton of reviews I think this tv will be awesome.. planning on getting it this month.
Fantastic review.
Thanks for the great review
The legs on the tv can also be mounted inward for narrower tv stands.
Great review. Thank you
Amazing review TCL thanks
Nice video, very helpful. Thanks!
Great review Vincent. Impressive budget set!
Good one Vincent. Much appreciated.
Absolutely great video thank you
Thank you for this review, I just got the TCL 65" 6-Series. for just $900. cant wait to hook it up and see the picture. Keep up the good work. Wish u were in the states so you could calibrate my TVs. haha, thanks again.
Love your video's.😀
Just bought the 75" for $999. Tested the display and it's flawless, extremely happy with it. Highly recommend.
Thanks, great video. I was researching this TV last night.
Awesome! Thanks Vincent.
Great review, these just got released in Canada this quarter so I’m seriously considering buying one
Would you still recommend the tcl R617 over the Vizio P series. I'm planning on buying this weekend one of these to TV but can't decide which one to get
A very nice review. Thanks. I actually have the 49" 5 series in my bedroom and am looking at the 55 inch six series for my living room.
hi Vincent,
i am thinking on buying a samsung NU8000 65 inch or a 65 inch TCL617 if it was up to you , what would you pick.
i may buy a xbox one x in the future.
Great video! I returned 2 tcl r617 due to banding and dse issues. Can you review the vizio p55-f1 series 2018? I've heard the hdr and motion is comparable to the sony 900f. Thank you!
Hi Vincent, good job as always. Anyway, I didn't catch you on what exactly the tv chip has something to do with the considerate price difference of such product in the States and the UK/EU? thnx
Thank you for the GREAT review and going in depth as always. I will be purchasing the TCL 6 series later this week! :) by chance who sings that song you have in your intro?
hi , please help in your opinion, is it better upscaling with Sony xf90 or with Oppo udp203?
thank you
Did you calibrate the TV.. If so what settings did you use? I need to calibrate mine!
Is there any good budget options here in the UK? I've been searching for two nights now, and still don't feel any closer to choosing one. Any advice or guidance would be very much appreciated.
This review is what sold me on getting an r617. Mine came in and there is no issue with screen uniformity and I'm stoked. I also own a 55OLED2016C and I love it so far still no issues with burn in yet.
I heard they deliver incredible value for money now it is confirmed by Vincent. Thanks like always a great job by doing so !! Please Tcl release this model in Europe .
Now I wonder: Can it handle 230v? I’d love to import one as a gaming TV but would need to know if it can handle out voltage...
What about 2019 TCL models? DC762 or C7006? Is It the same panel? Are they much better than 2018?
I have a question... I already have Roku 3. If I buy this (TCL 55S425-CA 4K Ultra HD Smart LED Television (2019), 55") would I be-able to plug it in to this TV, in order to have a different identity? Would the Roku3 remote, control this TV too? To SUM it up have 2 Roku access.
Thanks for flying to the U.S. to do this. For some reason the first time I saw you, it screams eccsentric Japanese Matsushita Electric Salesman. :D
Hi good friend, I was wondering what software and Spectrophotometers you use? I am into the calibration on a hobby side. I use HFCR and the ionedisplay pro right now for my own viewing needs and find I get the tv's better but gunning to learn more!!!! Thank you.
YOU ARE THE MAN !!!
The biggest complaint on these sets have been DSE. It was one of the most anticipated sets ever. TCL could have hit a home run with better QC on the panels. 700-800 nits, a gaming tv, with FALD at this price is unheard of. The DSE cost them many sales. Thanks for the review.
Can I watch Dolby vision through the hdmi ports or only through the onboard streaming services like Netflix?
What a great freaking review. I have last year's model and you are spot on. Dse is pretty bad on mine also, but while playing content it's not all that terrible. And even compared to my p65 it's still not bad especially for the price.
Great. Thank you for doing the review. I was already considering a TCL to replace my plasma that died, to hold me over till I get my C8 later. It's a shame you don't have the TV at your place to do some side by side comparisons
Hey Vincent , I am Mykey and I just picked up the R617 55” and I must say special thanks for letting me know about the calibration feature on the app I love this Tv
Good review and good voice
Vincent, as you say, this particular model is not available in the UK. Is it similar to the ...DP648 series available on Amazon? Do you have/ plan to review those in the future? Many thanks! Keep up the fantastic work!
I really cant decide between this and the nu8000 from samsung. I use a samsung phone and wondering if that alone is worth getting the nu8000.
To Vincent (HDTVTest): First, always love your videos, because they are extremely informative. But the magical moment in this video was when you basically let loose a little about seeing the wrong box sitting on your doorstep (@1:17). I feel your pain and have been there. And to hear you voice true emotion in your opinion about the situation brought a spark to this video.
Side note: Element (a blue-label brand that has been a staple in the US market, carried primarily in Wal-Mart locations) has recently announced that they will be halting production of televisions due to (allegedly) increased parts cost from raised tariffs.
I do think that TCL (who I read manufactures their televisions in-house, including the panel) is progressively stripping the lower-end market in America by having not only some of the top features offered by more expensive competing models but at a more affordable price for budget-minded buyers. If TCL can just refine their product, they may become great competition for the Big Three (Sony, Samsung, LG) in the USA.
Vincent, I am in market for ideal tv for HDR gaming and movies, I’m considering LGC8, Sony A1E, and Sony 930e....I’m stuck can you help? I want the OLED experience but am a little nervous about potential burn in?
Thanks for the review. I had decided to buy the 65" version once it becomes available at Costco.Your review is a confirmation. It seems the FALD TVs use a lot of power relative to the general market though.
But its worth it. :)
Great review Vincent. I'm based in Malaysia, and what we have here is tv's with the P6 or P65 designation. Any insights on how similar these to the R series in the states...or the 6 series? The online sellers have replied to people's questions and said it is 6 series. But I have doubts. What's worse when I try to get info on the differences between the two P series, the data on various regional sites have discrepancies. So frustrating. If the price/features weren't so good, I wouldn't bother. Any info you might have will be very helpful!
I don't really understand TCL's naming and models, here in the UK the TCL 43P617K is meant to be a new release for July 2021. So is this a different TV to the R617 that was released in the States in 2018 or is it just an old TV that has recently been released in the UK making it 'new for 2021'??
I can't put a link in or it gets deleted but if you go the the UK Amazon site and search for 'TCL 43P617K' then this is what I am talking about.
It's good to hear from a real color expert in this field.
I never knew we could adjust our colors and blacks professionally at home with the Roku mobile app.
I even deleted mine from my phone.
Is the 5 Series capable of such adjustments as well ?
I already have a 43" and we LOVE IT !
It is going in my wife's office and a series 6 is coming soon for the entertainment room.
So the Phillips 62 series is full array and also is available in the UK but no DV means no review?
Philips 62 series has no local dimming at all and is a simple 'Direct LED' model, peak brightness that is only good for SDR signals. Not worth a review no ...
As usually great rewiev, what is songs name at the begining of this video? thanks
Please tell when it is going to launch in India.
Does anybody know about good Voltage Converter from 220V to 120V?
in my country we have only 220V
And I really want to buy this TV
which 4k hdr tv is best for gaming ?
I have a tcl s401 that I got at walmart and Im quite pleased with it, I dont think I'll be switching tvs for a long time
Heey bud can you do the new Hisense H9 pro I think it's called im struggling which to get between this one or that one
great review Vincent. Too bad about screen uniformity and the lack of 120 Hz but otherwise you cant go wrong. Best bang for your buck TV hands down
Will you ever review the Vizio Quantum tv?
Can you please make some video about the TCL QLED X3 model.
I'm from the US & only heard about TCL a month ago. I just bought the 2018 Vizio P55-f1 for $649.99 & I'm a very happy man.
It's only $ 499 today. R615 55 inch.
@@tuberoako777 that's a good price, but honestly I prefer Vizio over other brands.
@@BluntLord2010 $ 899 P65-F1 was a good deal of the Vizio. Just keep returning until you get a good panel. Proper HDR, HLG and DV support. Only cons are upscaling and crappy OS which IMO aren't as important as the P series picture quality performance.
I wonder did they test each input, because 1 input may have more blooming for some reason
Vincent,
First, let me thank you for your review. I am currently in the market for a new television. You made the comparison between the 6 Series TCL TV and the Sony X900F. How much better is the X900F in relation to the TCL? Is it worth the extra money? Should I consider this a disposable TV TCL 6 Series-will work great for a while and then will fizzle out in 2 to 3 years)? Is Sony better made? My dream has always been to have an LG OLED, but that is a little more than I want to spend (for example 65 inch C8). My and my family's interests with regards to TV use are Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, XBOX One, and BluRay (1080p now, but 4K BluRay with TV purchase). I know that the selection of TVs vary from UK to USA, but I would appreciate any insight. One last thing, I checked for a Sony X930 or X940 replacement. They don't appear to be available. Have they been discontinued completely or will come at a later date?
Thank you for all of your insights, your attention to detail, and your humor. Please keep up the great work!
I'm in the same exact boat Anthony. I've narrowed it down to the TCL R and 900f. Not sure if the Sony is worth the extra money or not. What did you end up buying, or are planning to buy?
I'm actually still looking. It's still between the TCL R6 and the Sony X930E (both 55 in TVs).
If I watched a ton of 4k content, i would just buy the P series, but upscaling is important as I watch a lot of cable like sports, tv shows etc.. in addition to 4k
I think the way to go would be to buy the TCL R617 55" now and maybe 4 years down the road pick up an OLED HDMI 2.1 TV for a reasonable price. No sense paying a premium now when we will probably get HDMI 2.1 at least in 2020. OLED command a premium right now but in another 2-3 years they will become more common.
Are you kidding? The X900F completely BLOWS the TCL out of the water in every single aspect
Great job Vincent your the best
Samsung nu8000, nu7100 or tcl?
For Netflix usually, no gaming
Pls where can i get the TCL 6 series to buy in uae
From what I have read on AVS forums, the 65" has a better pic/performance then the 55".
Why would that be? Better panel/more zones? Peak nits?
I returned 3 to best buy. They all had banding issues. I ended up with the LG uk6300pue. The TV is awesome.
This TV is an absolute beast for the price cant wait to see what they do this year I'm hoping they do decide to come out with the quantom dot tv with 1000 nits they said they were thinking about it we will see it would be awesome if they did I think it would be a great well rounded TV and for a better price then most more then likely but yeah loved the begging you sure af didnt come that far for an edge lit TV hahaha thank God it was full array then Vincent I love the humor thrown in
Hi Vincent, a TCL P617 (Mexico) worth vs Samsung NU7400, TCL are real good ir just hipe?
Tcl destroys that samsung
First of all i want to thank you for your reviews! I would be very interested in video about TCL European models, because as i know they are completely different from USA models. Is there any good TCL European models for gaming? Maybe TCL 55DP608? Thank you!
Is this TV equivalent to 55P6US ?
FYI the USB port can't play media from memory sticks or portable hard drives. TCL says it's a voltage issue but it is not.
What is difference between TCLUS & simple TCL
Thanks for coming to the States to review this TCL TV which I'm very tempted to buy but when you showed the Batman movie and how poorly it seemed to handle black I may have changed my mind. I hope you will please revisit this test and talk about the banding issues as well as what settings to use to set and forget. I love anyone who would use the word Gobsmacked. Well done.
when recording HDR content for regular camera you have to essentially exaggerate the blacks in order to show what you're barely seeing. So the black quality is nowhere near that in real life and it's actually pretty decent.
JesusSavedJoshua I've owned my 6 series since it came out. No issues whatsoever. Blacks are so deep that it looks like the TV is off at times.
If I have my tv professionally calibrated, would that be permanent or would I have to recalibrate it in the future?
quarkSquark perm
Vincent overall would you say the Sony 900 F is a better TV then the TCL six series? I am interested in purchasing one and value your opinion.
For screen uniformity yes. Everything else is fairly close IMO
Budget TV is Budget TV Mid range to high end TV is mid range to high end TV. Just because a budget TV is "close" to a midrange range to high end TV doesn't mean it is "good". Save your money and just get the Sony 900F it "is" a better TV than the TCL. Is it $600 more better imo yes why because aside from screen uniformity everything else is better in every category.
And before you say well the TCL input lag is 18ms the TCL is only 60hz panel the Sony is a true 120 hz and when you set the sony to 120hz input lag is about 13ms so the sony has better input lag than TCL.
Save your money bro and get the Sony 900F it "is" better than the TCL in "every" category except price.
just get the tcl, its better
Why review its not available in UK
Thanks a lot for such knowledgebale content. Can you give some basics on colour tuning and content to test our tests ?
for enthusiast like us !
What is the name of the song
Wow TLC is being reviewed , can Vizio be far behind.
As always Vincent ty and a great job.
I have had this TV except in 65" rather than 55". It cost about one kilo buck, It works very well. The only fault I have with it is the screen size. 65" is just too small. Formerly I had had a projection system with a eight foot wide pull down screen. This is the biggest screen that the TCL brand sells currently. But I would prefer a bigger screen. I expect that flat screens will get bigger in the next year or so, Most people make a Home Theater system in a second bedroom. That usually limits you to to a screen about eight or nine feet wide. You can't go much bigger in most houses without major construction.
I gave up on projectors. I have had a projector for more than a decade. I have had three different brands. Projectors are more finikey than flat panels. They are always giving you trouble. The image quality is now much better on a flat panel than any projector I've seen at least in my budget range. Now they just have to get bigger.
The real joy of this set is that I just push the ON button and I get a perfect picture every time.
Just ordered a 55" from Best Buy with 1 day free shipping. If I get an unlucky banding/dse panel will be trading it in for the Vizio P Series.
I'm happy with my 49X900F. Spending more is the way to go to get an awesome 4K TV. Anybody interest, got tons of vids on it. Obviously, videos colors are off due to camera phone but overall, it's truly an amazing 4k TV in person as long as you got the right picture settings for it like I do 😉.
I'm happy with my 49x900e 😏😍
eh i wont spend more, i have a X900F an TCL-6-series i prefer the drastically reduced input lag w/ the TCL and better ROKU smart apps. x900f is fine, but either one is about the same, not a huge diff in price
Do I have to keep changing the settings from switching from SDR to HDR? Also can I use apple TV on this?
Yes apple tv and u need to change brightness settings/i have a 6 series tcl
@@daviddougher8637 Thanks well this tv is off my list then lol
I always wonder: how can your b-roll be so good but the rest so had in contrast...?
Can I get this tv in india please help me
im sure with the whole world of users of this year's TCL top end 4k model making headlines about their main flaw in uniformity, they'll address it in their next year's revision.
On your next US press junket, see if you can arrange to test the new Vizio PQ.
