@Tech Steve I bought the TCL R635 and it broke after just one month. I’m currently waiting on my replacement set that’s being shipped to me. Perhaps you can diagnose what was wrong with it. It was working great then it suddenly blacked out, but the audio was still working fine. After I powered it down and waited a few minutes and turned it back on, it had horizontal lines going across the bottom 20% of the TV that I couldn’t get rid of no matter what and it continued to black out every hour or so. Any idea what the issue was?
So I’m not a technician, TVs normally well but needs to be reset or repaired if they dont.
@@TechSteve It’s okay, no worries. I was hoping that you were because of your profile name. TCL said it was broken and they’re sending me a new one, but I’m still really curious about what exactly was wrong with it. I’ll keep trying to figure it out. Thanks for the timely response.
Great review! Lots of info succinctly presented! Thanks a lot Steve 👍🏾
Thanks Robert 👍🏽
I bought the75" about8 months ago. A month in TV died. I got replaced and been good ever since. Great picture, I love watching HDR and Dolby Vision movies, especially Star Wars, using my surround sound and Panasonic UB820 Bluray player.
Awesome video. TCL is packing a lot of features into this TV.
Yes lots features it’s not perfect but the picture quality is very good and the sound is very good
Definitely can do 120fps at 2k
Exactly, thank you
Good info. and review Steve.
I have a q6fn which I'm happy with right now, but if TCL keeps improving and doesn't price themselves out of the market, I am thinking of getting one when I decide to change.
It looks great for sure
I have this tv and it gets bright for SDR and HDR content so the picture really pops off the screen great review btw
Thanks, i try not to get that technical. It confuses the masses
@@TechSteve yes that’s very true I was confused a first then I did some research now I know what most stuff means, awesome channel tho
I just bought mine today, and I'm not really happy with the resolution, it looks really pixelated, did you calibrated it so it would look better?
@@carlosquintus must something wrong with your panel
Great content as always Steve!! Stay safe man... PEACE!

Well done! Heck, I've had my 75" 635 setup for a few days and didn't know about the plastic wrap on the back.
No wonder it might've been running a tad warm.
Thanks for the review! :)
Great review bro!
Great content man, tell me what would you choose samsung 43 inch q60t vs 50-55 inch 7000/8000 series, mostly for movies and gaming
Thank u Steve.
How is the TCL for motion with cable sports?? Hockey puck, soccer ball, etc..
I’ve had Tv for a year. It’s amazing. Gaming 120hz on series x and PS5 works better than my monitor. I bought the hysense and no comparison.
what model Hisense did you buy, just curious?
H9G. It was just not as good with the brightness or picture upscaling.
I know I'm late but I'm confused did he mention it doesn't support 120hz? I'm seeing conflicting info. Any help would be appreciated.
@EseJandro you might be confused with 120Hz motion rate
Thanks very much
You’re welcome
Whats a Good 75” screen tv you recommend under $1,400
ima be using 95% of the time it to watch movies and ppv events through my amazon firestick 4k
and the other 5% of the time for my cable tv channels

Thanks
Bought this one for my Series X, very good TV for its price.. was going to go with the Nano 86, but the TCL outperforms it in almost every way.
But damn the remote eats batteries very fast on it
I've noticed the same for some other Roku devices... I assumed it was a defective remote and ordered a replacement on Amazon...this helped, but compared to other remotes, the battery cycle is shorter
I just ordered one, did you find it hard to calibrate the picture settings?
@@GIANT_Dom How is it? Image quality and motion
@@robesterd8132 absolutely unbelievable, especially for how cheap it is. But they announced the 2021 version that does 240hz at 4k right after I bought mine
@@GIANT_Dom ahh ok, thanks a lot for ur response.
Is this tv good for Dolby vision content or no?
Hello Steve. I have this TCL R635 and it's one of my favorite TV's. I also have the R625 but it's not Miniled. Still a good TV though just not as bright. Overall they are worth the money you pay for them. They are budget TV's.
The issue with to R635 is that it’s 120Hz but doesn’t support HDMI 2.1 inputs.., so what’s the point. I have seen the other model
@@TechSteve well Steve it's still okay with me because I don't use the HDMI ports on the TV anyway. The picture quality is really good.
I had a bad experience with Pixels sticking on the model used in the video, TLC told me that it wasn’t covered under warranty because the TV has million of pixels and that it was acceptable amount. 😡 i just sold it to a guy local for half of what I paid for it 3 months after I bought it so I’m probably the wrong person to ask.. this year they sponsored a video but I’m never buying one again for reviews
@@TechSteve can't say I blame you under those circumstances.
what about the dirty screen effect? hows the uniformity?
Hi brother is the remote control smart ?
You have to add some test in dark environment
Can I get Dolby atmos to run through the soundbar from using the Roku that it comes with? Or will I have to connect something with another streaming device to get atmos surround sound? Thanks.
Yes using a 48gbps hdmi cable connected to eARC and atmos audio system

can you please review the TCL 40 inch s330 or the 40s334 i bought the s330 wanna know if the TV is good for the price the display looks good with the colrs and value i think is great
Sorry, that’s not on my list
@@TechSteve ok
Is this better than a LG B7 ? I have an older oled but it may be time to upgrade for next gen gaming
www.displayspecifications.com/en
HDMI 2.1 Is needed to do 4K 120hz. This tv can do 1440 120hz. I own one.
Unfortunately PS5 doesn't have the option to implement VRR yet so there's no 1440 120 there yet. Series X allows it though.
@@App4RITioN it will down scale to 1080 /120
I'm trying to decide on budget 75 inch. Nano cell 90, Q70a or TCL 6 series? Interested in your opinion.
I think the Q70a and the TCL 6 series on the same level the 6 series does get a bit brighter tho Hisense H9G is a good budget tv too gets very bright
Stay away from nanocell 90😁
If you go with TCL r635. Go with 65” or 75” the increase dimming zones has a better ratio to the screen size which greatly improved black levels and blooming
TCL is much better than the LG Nano Cell. There is a RUclips video showing the TCL 635 next to Sony's flagship X950H playing the Spears and Munsil montage and the differences were very small and mostly subjective, I would post a link but not sure if that's appropriate here. I've personally seen the TCL 635 75 inch next to the 75 inch Samsung Q70T and I actually thought the TCL was better, so I bought one.
View angle?
First saw the 55” for $650. You say $700 3 months ago. NOW I am seeing it from $880 to $950. One thing not mentioned is only the 65” and bigger get the ability to mount the legs closer together to accommodate a narrower placement, meaning one has to spend roughly $50 to get a stand alone VESA mount.
The 75 inch was like 1399 while back now eg Walmart has it for over 2000. I won’t buy unfortunately with all this pricing going way high TVs should go down as they get older. Inflation is too much these days on everything esp this fn TV
@@earthtrotterjones7835 I see the "$650 to $950" price jack for the same model & year TV mentioned elsewhere. Truth is, the 650 WAS damn cheap for what you got, BUT no excuse to jack the price THAT much. NOW we have the 55" 646 (google) that they say is essentially the same... touted at costing $1,000, but looks like ya need $1200 if ya want it right now. THAT model can mount feet closer together like the 65" did,
Can you please share a link to that video to run it in my tv to check the picture quality?
ruclips.net/channel/UCWbTmmAtj8FNgq5JblOa_2g
I was just about to buy this... But I have a feeling the 2021 models will be released with HDMI 2.1 real soon. Speculation is saying August.
You have to make sure it has the gaming port
If this the 6 series I believe it is equipped with the 2.1 hdmi port. Sony 900h has it and I think it’s around the same price depending on the size you want. The 900h can be found around $699 I think at Costco or Amazon.

Thanks for the recommendation. This is definitely a runner up. I was just use to the Roku platform.

Yeah, I already picked up as Sony A8H 65” OLED TV last week.
So how does the tu8000 perform compared to this tv set on the side of picture and sound quality is it much worse or better or both look the same to you ?
(Good video, love your content 👍).
This one looks better because it is a qled
Roku needs to get the steam link app so we can easily connect PC games.
great Showing of the TV,
I noticed that you put it in gaming mode which slightly helps with lag, but you never put it in 120Hertz mode. Gaming mode doesn't change the Refresh rate of the TV, you have to manually change that on your device.
And it actually does 120Hertz for gaming, but not at 4K, it will at 1080p, and 1440p, and you need to manually set it to what resolution you want, such as: 1080p, or 1440p, on your device such as a game console, mac, PC or other device.
Most TV's, and monitors require you to manually set the refresh rate on your devices..
WHY?? because most operating systems default to 60Hertz, this includes WINDOWS, XBOX, PLAYSTATION, and many more.
I hope this information was of some benefit to you. Thank you for being Open And Honest, and i always love watching your Reviews.
Yeah, i don't test every single possibility, i have to cram a-lot of info into a short time
@@TechSteve Trust me its a lot of hassle, i know, and trying to remember every default setting of every device is too much. But as i said i always love watching your reviews.
And this review is what made me decide to finally get a new TV.
I have a Roku 32s321 a 1080p tv... but its a very obscure model, had it for almost 3 years now. And it works great, but what i wanted was something better so i got this as a stop gap... 2 years and 10 months later....
"wait, wasn't i going to get a better TV??" {your video} "light bulb" so yeah, thank you.
Thank You
I'm gaming on a budget so thanks for clarification to set 120hz manually at a pixel rate ,
There is a 2021 model With 2× HDMI 2.1 Ports
Maybe just the 55' ?
Thanks a bunch for the help 🙏.
The ports doesn’t matter if it’s a 60Hz TV.
you can download an app to these tvs right?
Yes it has its own app store

Actually I purchase these TVs with my personal money, But in another life I had a great job before I started filming videos for a living so I have resources . I don’t talk about how I get rid of.
Can samsung tu8000 run qhd 120fps?
No only 60Hz
picture looks good but my tv always looks grainy even in some HDR shows, especially in darker scenes. Drives me nuts!
Have you tried different HDR sources?
Price just increased on this one.
Rtings mentioned it does have hdmi 2.1
Nope, I tested it and look at this link at the bottom www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/05e020f1
Hi steve, would you prefer this or samsung q60B for the average consumer?
This one will have a better picture because of mini led
How dependable are TCL tv's?
Unfortunately dependability is a unknown factor.
I have two TCLs, the P607(2017 model) and the R635(2020). They can get a little glitchy where they sometimes reset themselves self( happens rarely) or other oddities. With my experience with them I just unplug them and it will fix any software issues. Even with these few glitches I don't regret my purchases. They by far are very impressive and I'm very, very picky about picture quality.
Hi. When this tv will arrives in Italy? Thanks
I have no idea, it’s been in the USA for a while
The TCL C825 which uses the same technology as the 6 series (mini led) is scheduled for June I believe.
@@RPD91 thanks
Tech Steve, PLEASE CAN YOU DO A COMPARISON VIDEO OF THIS SET VS A SAMSUNG SET??!! ALL THIS TALK OF DOLBY VISION, VRR, HR10 ETC... WE DESERVE TO SEE A SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON TO SEE IF THERE IS TRULY A DIFFERENCE WITH THESE FEATURES
I’ll have to think of something that doesn’t include copyright content.
@@TechSteve Understood but I think that's the big deal now that people put Samsung down because it doesn't support the other formats HOWEVER if there was a comparison video, THERE IS SO MUCH HYPE OF THIS ISSUE IT NEEDS TO BE DONE SOMEHOW. I bet they couldn't tell the difference or which is dolby, HR10, hr10plus etc and which is not...... THANKS
Correction, the TV's Ethernet port plugs in to your router, not the modern.
Some modems have Ethernet outputs and not WiFi, the router is mainly used to connect multiple computers via WiFi or hardwired cat 5 or 6 network cables
@@TechSteve Sure, depends on whether you are using a dedicated Modem or Modem/Router combo. Basically what I meant was if you have a Modem and separate Router you're going to connect your TV to the Router. If you have a Modem/Router Combo with WiFi you'd have multiple Ethernet outputs and there's obviously no need for a Router. But still, the connection would essentially be to the Router section of the Modem combo. Keep up the good work!
@Don, I’m sure most people know what it is by now, this is getting more complicated than it needs to be. Take care buddy 👊🏽

Every other source including Rtings says that this TV can do 1080p 120 and 1440p 120. Are you certain you aren’t mistaken on that detail?
I’m referring to 4k120fps that’s what people want for the new consoles.
@@TechSteve thanks for the reply! I’m not convinced many games will hit 4K at 120hz on the modern gen consoles anyway. Maybe some games, but I agree with what you said to another commenter that it isn’t worth paying a premium for. Id rather have the best of both worlds and be able to do 1080p 120 or 4k60 as I think that’s going to be the common PS5 options for most games. I’m excited for the TCL to get here.
@@TechSteve I have both the PS5 and series X. This tv does 120 for 1440p for the series X. I have no game that can do 4k at 120hz for either system. This tv does 120 hz gaming just fine. Dirt 5 is 120hz 1440p series x. Dirt 4 120hz 1080p series x. WRC does 120hz at 1080p. At this time most games do not run at 4k 120hz anyway on these consoles. Plus this tv has VRR which the series x supports.

Thanks, I hope you enjoyed it.
One of the worst TVs I've ever had I keep having to reset it because it won't play any Dolby
Why is the 55" $950 right now and the 65" $1300?
I don’t think anyone will know about pricing.
Do this have soap opera effect?
You can adjust
Man, I thought it just couldn't do 4k at 120hz. I was under the impression that 1440p at 120 was possible.
These TVS are confusing consumers
@@TechSteve I dodged a bullet. I decided to save more and get the LG BX. I came close to getting this one though 😬
Nice 👍🏽
120hz at 1440p is possible. I play this way with my series x for games like dirt 5
So I’m confuse does it run 4K
Why is the tv advertised as 4k 120hz if it can’t support 4k at 120hz through its hdmi 2.0 ports?!?? I bought this because it said 4k 120hz. :-(
That’s motion rate
Save yourself money get the series 5
Most games on the new Xbox and PS only hit 4K at 60 FPS and some are even 30 FPS only a handful are true 4K 120 so unless you want to pay extra to future proof or you mostly play those 120 games no need to pay more now for something you may need later
I agree
Actually you are wrong you game at 120 fps at 1440 p on the series x with this TV do your home work before putting out bad info .
I focus on 4k120fps for new consoles but you’re welcome for the video
@@TechSteve I like the fact that you responded and it was rather quick I m going to sub. Yes you are right it doesn't support HDMI 2.1 but I have question. Since its a 4k panel wouldn't it up scale the 1440p resolution to 4k making essentially 4k at 120 or would it just output without upscaling
Personally I don’t trust upscaling, it’s like taking a small picture and adjusting it to look good on a big monitor. Native signal will always give you the best results. At the end of the day spend more money to get what works correctly or try to get higher performs on a budget may just be a temporary fix.
Dolby vision and hdr is not very bright. I own this tv. Sdr Is much brighter
It’s still low nits
@@TechSteve I never understood how hdr has higher nits when it's a dimmer picture
@@TechSteve interested in selling me your ps5?
Think of it this way, sdr has full brightness but not as good as colors. HDR is a digital way to control the colors and brightness, the issue is that most recording are at 1000 nits but budget TV can only provide about 400 nits.
No plus I paid $1000 for ii, because of the shortage
