    I’ve been playing with this tv for about a week. When I first opened it and saw the same blooming / local dimming test I wanted to return it. Same as at the end of this video. However for all of those that haven’t figured it out go to picture setting >> local contrast on high. Turn dynamic contrast off. This fixes it perfectly and the test has zero blooming. Also it removes all the light spotty areas in top and bottom bars while watching a movie. And it makes them pitch black. There are a lot of adjustment options to set it up based on your preferences. For the money it’s definitely well worth it. It’s actually amazing that you can get a tv like this for $650. Last year you would have had to pay almost double that for the same tv.

    • @JoelsterG4k
      @JoelsterG4k  4 года назад +3

      I had the local contrast on high, I tested with all the options including dynamic contrast and I had the same results, but yes the best option still local contrast on high.

      @@JoelsterG4k I don’t know if it’s maybe the camera that’s picking it up more so it shows more in the video. But I just run mine one more time. With above settings I get some blooming on large square but in small ball virtually none. I mean it’s not like on oled but very little. Without it looks like on your video and it’s really bad as shown. You can see local dimming zones turning on and off very noticeably. I also have action smoothing and action clarity on medium. Find this to be best so far for panning shots without much soap effect. Led motion clarity off. Still waiting for rtings to post their recommend settings but I’m happy so far.

      Good point! "Dynamic Contrast" is one of the most useless settings of nowadays's televisions.
      BTW... What size of this TV do you have? And how do you find its black level, native contrast, and panel homogeneity? And how's the motion handling as per your experience?

    Guys, Joelster here, so the most asked question is, which one is better.? This TCL R635 or Hisense H9G and based on my experience I prefer the Hisense H9G for movies and picture quality, if you prefer gaming then TCL has better features for gamers, Im not saying that the R635 doesn't look good, it does but the H9G gave that WOW impression 😲, same feeling I had when I reviewed the C9 Oled, anyways I hope that helps you get a better idea of what I think about these two TVs, I hope you have an excellent rest of your day, Joelster out.!! 😃😎

    So I'm in a divide between getting the TCL R635 or the Hisense H9G. Both TV's seem to be priced fairly decent for the quality you're getting. The TCL seems to have a slightly premium look with it's mini LED technology and brushed aluminum finish, while the Hisense seems to handle blooming better than the TCL. Overall Joelster I would like to get your opinion on which TV out weights the other in terms of picture quality.

  • @OneBlackButton
    @OneBlackButton 4 года назад

    Hey Joelster. How close is this TV to a very sharp monitor? If you bought this TV for a bedroom in the 55” variant, how soon do you think you’d need to upgrade? I keep eying this TV but wonder how future proof it is or if I’d be better off looking at an OLED such as the upcoming Vizio OLED?

    • @HegoDamaskII
      @HegoDamaskII 4 года назад

      Vizio OLED hands down, it has 2 Hdmi 2.1 ports at least compared to zero on this TV, and OLED destroys any LCD TV in quality anyways.

    • @OneBlackButton
      @OneBlackButton 4 года назад

      Hego Damask II I sorta wanted to lust for the TCL Mini-LED 6 Series but I think TCL’s operating system is kinda wanky. I have a Roku Ultra LT on a Samsung 4K TV in my kitchen and the OS gives off a kinda cheap feel. You never know when they break down. I want to replace this Vizio 1080p Non-Smart TV that’s from 2010 in my bedroom but I don’t know if I should go with another Vizio or budget TV for that matter. Everyone has been praising the LG CX and it’s not much more than the Vizio but I already bought a C9 for upstairs. I don’t know which TV I should buy for next-gen gaming?

    Joelster just as a suggestion. Using a nice dimmed light will help you videos when showing content from the tv's when you have just pitch black it makes the videos look worse. More light is better than pitch black. Especially considering we are watching already from a recorded video that's then passed through RUclips compression.

    With the new gaming consoles, doesn't seem the best decision.

    I sampled this TV and I definitely took it off my got to get list. It doesn't have HDMi 2.1 and I notice certain light to dark picture transition creates an smear effect as if the LEDs are late to respond. Also at first glance picture quality looks good and it is, but once you began to sit and watch some of your favorite movies and TV shows you'll notice that a lot of detail is lost in the dark areas of the content, it's definitely a lot of black crush going on for sure and that bothers me. This TV is not all bad though there is definitely some strong attributes but it falls short for me. I will pass.

      It doesn't have HDMI 2.1, but it has most of the features of HDMI 2.1: Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode, and eARC. The only feature that it's missing is the capability to convey 4K @ 120Hz through its HDMI ports; however, it does have a 120Hz panel and can convey 1440p and below @ 120Hz (even with HDR). I have the TV and can confirm all of this. Check out my latest upload.

    • @Jabsy101
      @Jabsy101 4 года назад +2

      99% of games won’t even utilize HDMI 2.1. Most titles are still targeting 4K 30fps. Some titles will get a boost mode to 60fps but at lower resolutions so it’s still not utilized. 2.1 tv’s are essentially non-existent in terms of market share and next gen consoles weren’t designed around that output.

    • @tylongkicks8821
      @tylongkicks8821 4 года назад

      Unless you have a PC or if Sony and Microsoft make a PS5 pro and. Series X upgrade model you really want need 2.1 HDMI for 3 or 4 years down the road.

    • @Jabsy101
      @Jabsy101 4 года назад

      Ty Long If there are “Pro” versions, which I doubt, than having titles run at a 4k60 will be the goal. Not 4k120. Even the sizeable power increase from the Xbox One to One X didn’t see major gains at that could equate to such gains. Rendering 4K60 + is a console generation away. Or this year if you want to buy a $1400 ampere GPU......
