This was really informative. The movie/game mode comparison was interesting. The TCL did really well I thought. Especially considering the price difference. Awesome tunes in the video too. 😉👍🏾
Great comparison! Especially when showing half side-by-side screens. For future comparisons, is there any way you can horizontally mirror the display on the right-side TV so that it shows the exact content as the left? Sometimes the left and right images are too different. Like in 6:05. ... Regardless, great job!

Thx bro. The only thing you can do better in the next review is using same screen sizes. Being a videographer, I'd also like to know what kind of camera you used and its settings (aperture and ISO mainly) since you mentioned the brightness peaked too high for the camera's settings. By the way, your color grade for your speaking parts was perfect! You really took time to ensure smooth skin tone, awesome bkg, great lighting, and perfect colors! I'll come back to your channel for inspiration! I also like that you backlit the tv's during the test to provide adequate contrast between the screen and the wall. Your production quality is very professional and cinematic!!!
Your testing methodology looks more practical than rtings, even though not as technical. Placing them side by side in different mode and angle provides more insight to prospective buyers.
I thought the TCL looked pretty bad especially in the Starfield display as half the stars were missing compared to the Samsung. I'd really like to see the Sony X950H as it sounds really good other than for gamers which I'm not. Thanks for the comparison.
The X950H is brilliant. I also don't care about HDMI 2.1 for gaming, so for me it's one of the best LCD/LED's of 2020 if you want flagship picture quality.
i’ve been using a tcl q7 65” for awhile and have been more than impressed. I haven’t had any regrets and don’t think i would ever spend over $1000 with options like these on the market.
Great comparison video! I'm considering a TCL for use in my home office/gaming room. I was wondering if you use the out-of-the-box settings when comparing the two sets.
Great review man! The blooming from the TCL has a sharper backlight cut off. The Samsung feathers the backlight out more evenly giving the star's backlight a more pleasing image..

Thank you for the review. Which one do you recommend getting - TCL 75EP660 or Samsung QE65Q70T? Samsung is 10" smaller. TCL even 100 eur. cheaper in my country.
What settings do you have for the TCL? I just got the 75r635 and the colors are great and very punchy. The blacks are phenomenal and I have very little blooming, mostly on text. So either you have a less than optimal panel or its settings. Check Caleb Digital Trends or Whisper Status among others that got much better results. The q90t costs more than $1000 above the TCL price. And I couldn't be happier with my purchase. But if I relied on this demo, I might not have purchased it. But, I generally like your demos and the split screens.
What is the absolute best TV you can get for a budget of $1200 or under? I tried the LG nanocell 91 and was not impressed at all. Is it the TCL 6 series?
They have the 75 inch Samsung QLED 60T for $1199 at Walmart depending on size...The sale was the same at Best Buy during the holidays now it;s back up to $1499.. Walmart may be your best shot...
Spoke to a few guys at BestBuy today. They basically told me the only TV worth buying between $1000-$1500 is the Sony X900H. They were not fans of the Samsung Q60T or Q70T at all
Very helpful , thank you. I'm in the midst of replacing some 10 year + old components in my system. My 60 inch Sony Bravia is seemingly still going strong, but My A/V receiver needs to be replaced, so I was thinking of replacing it too. I have a TCL ROKU 4 series in the bedroom , so it makes sense on that level to match it with the new living room tv. Your favourable review makes this TCL 6 series a no brainer in my scenario.
Man... When these TCL TVs start to add full HDMI 2.1 w\ a few of those hardcore gaming features (true 4K @ 120Hz with VRR, ALM and HDR all at the same time), Sony, Samsung and LG will really have to watch out. They came really close this year. If I were bargain hunting, I would really think seriously about waiting until mid to end of 2021 before looking to upgrade my TV as a gamer who also loves watching movies with nice picture quality. I can easily see TCL putting out a TV with this or better picture quality and those harder core gaming specs for less than $800 in a 55 inch size. Mind blowing and game changing at the same time if that happens.
I would never buy a TCL TV ever again, after 3 months mine stopped going to standby, when I hit the ON button, I must wait 40+ Seconds for it to boot. TCL Support said to factory reset, this didn't help, and it's down to a problemn with the last version of Android the TV downloaded. Also, for some reason the picture dims significantly when playing 4K HDR content.

Is Dolby Vision that important or does the HDR10 and HDR10+ just as good ?........VillaMan what are your thoughts ? and anyone else i would appreciate your guidance.....cheers from Canada....be safe all
tcl tvs are the most unreliable and failed to even last 2 years before breaking due to random causes, the display just completely broke. my samsung tv has lasted 15 years and still going strong and still looks very good
I have the 635 and i dont see the same blooming on the star field test. Does it have a slight noticeable halo over lettering "YES", and it doesnt bother my viewing,. My viewing area is medium sized so we are setup to view directly in front of the tv (no reason to watch it from the side for us) Although i dont exspect everyone to feel the same way.
I honestly would'nt really lose any real sleep over it since these tests like Spears and Munsil tend to be greatly a bit off and are'nt really based in real world performance situations. So unless your plain on watching old 80s and 90s taped tv shows up rezed to hd quality like Star Trek TNG a lot then your not going to really notice problems with fast speed flashing starfields at all.
I would love to see a similarly thoroughly done comparison between the Samsung Q70 and the Q90. And between the Samsung Q70 and Sony X900 or X950. My impression is that (at least for MY needs) the Samsung Q70 and Sony X900 or X950 are in the sweet spot of price / performance for a much above average but not bleeding edge insanely expensive TV in in the 55 and 65 inch popular sizes. (I believe these are also made as small as 49 inches, and up to the biggest size screens as well.)
There were times when it did look like the TCL had deeper black levels but that cant be the case. The Q90 has consistently had crazy deep black levels the last couple of generations. Although the TCL 6 did break 10,000 to 1 contrast ratio, so its in the same ballpark
Wow, I just checked Rtings and the Samsung as the same contrast ratio as the TCL 6. And the TCL 6 has a BETTER native contrast than the Q90. I am impressed (Samsung dropped the ball. Last years model had much better contrast. What happened?)
The rather terrible black uniformity of the r635 just kills it for me, and made me just uninterested in the set. The clouding is just too apparent, and would bother me. It’s also just crushing blacks way too much, and has rather poor local dimming. Not to mention it poor gradient handling....Rtings also found the same issues in their review. I’d rather keep my r625 for now. It has vastly superior black uniformity and better overall local dimming. My eyes are on the H9G. Unfortunately, it has zero gaming features which is also a huge downer. I just think I need to save for a OLED, and possibly wait til next year to see what they brings next year.
I'm having issues with dolby vision content being extremely dark when streaming through my roku app, but when streaming through the fire stick, picture is damn near flawless. Any suggestions for calibration, or should I just stream through my fire stick? someone please help.
Yeah, well I think the tcl would win that comparison. The q70 t is an edge lit television while the 635 is full array mini led. Also the 70t is a 60 hz if I’m not mistaken while the tcl is 120.
@@rayklloyd my TCL went back. Garbage. I learned my lesson with these cheap brands its a gamble to get a good one. Blotchy screen. banding. almost have to use 2 remotes if you have cable and so on. yes the blacks were nice but they also washed out any faint color or lights that should be in the scene.
Not sure if all these comparisons work when it’s shot through a camera with its own settings, uploaded to RUclips, and then streamed to my iPhone? And I’d love to see a comparison with the Q70T.
FURognar Yep, that was my point, for the price point of TCL 6 series, I think the PQ is pretty good. For the price of 90T, at that point, I’d either go OLED or down to the 80T to save money.
@@fyung its better than pretty good. The picture quality is excellent, even if it were a more expensive display, but the fact that the 65" is under $1000 and the 75" is under $2000 makes it one of the best values out there, matched only by the Hisense H9G
Yeah the Q90t has a better pq than the TCL but at what cost and is it worth it? At some point the laws of diminishing returns start to set in. Just look at oleds like Vizio's vs the LG CX. Other than the CX having excellent motion handling and being slightly brighter the Vizio oled still can produce an incredible picture. Especially since the fact the fact that LG manufactures all oled panels currently right now and other companies like Vizio,Panosonic and Sony at their own chip set technologies. That's where the lines between budget vs flagship kind of start to blur.
Wonderful content! Are you able to compare the 2020 6 Series vs the Sony X900H? Costco will be having a great deal on their version of the X900H and would be great to have your mind compare them!
As someone newer to this channel I apologize if you've addressed this in previous content, but I'm curious if these comparisons are done with out-of-box settings or are they properly calibrated first?
Good job ty, the hdmi 2.1 is for gaming, if ur not gaming the tcl may work best and save a lot more or upgrade to a 75, i hope they start making 86inches, i would be down for that
OMG thanks God you answered Because I just realized that the Qled series where I live at is the Q637 You know anything about this or if this is still better than the H8G?
The Q90T didnt really have more color. It is a lot brighter, which makes the colors pop more (increased color volume maybe). However in some scenes the Q90T was too bright and it washed out some colors. I noticed some pale skin tones looked a lot better on the TCL. And there were some scenes of the sky and clouds where the clouds on the Q90 were washed out and lost detail, where the all the subtle details and color was present on the TCL 6.
am i the only one who saw the Fanta poured into the Glass and felt that Samsungs color is so unnatural it did not look real at all while tcls color was soothing
From what I've seen from other comparisons, this probably wasn't a fair comparison to put TCL's 55" against a Q90T 65" (note: not saying you did it on purpose by any means because I'm aware the 65" TCL was a little delayed on availability). I'm just pointing this out because a similar comparison was done between the 55" TCL 6-series and the 65" Hisense H9G and it was concluded that the H9G was better. However, once the 65" TCL 6-series became available, it was compared to the 65" H9G, and the TCL was determined to be better in most categories, and brightness was one of them. I recently bought an open-box 65" 6-series for a little over $700 and I am completely blown away. It can be so bright, it will actually hurt my eyes at times, especially when watching DolbyVision content.
Yeah that starfield is really challenging for the TCL. But a lot of people mistake that problem for black crush when black crush wouldnt wipe out stars....it wipes out black which adversely affects shadow detail. The problem with the stars has to do with local dimming algorithm. If its too aggressive, it keeps trying to darken the picture by reducing the backlight to keep the black portion of space inky black. Since the stars are very dim to begin with, the local dimming reduces them further to minimize blooming and they become barely visible.
www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/samsung-q80t-vs-samsung-q90t/1819/9810 ruclips.net/video/_-qUD2WdJtg/видео.html&ab_channel=AbtElectronics Q80T isn't as bright and local dimming better on Q90T. X950H does not have hdmi 2.1 nor is it planned if that is important to you. Q80/90T have 1 hdmi 2.1 port. X900H has been promised to have firmware update to have 2 x hdmi 2.1 ports. But picture IMHO is better on the samsungs. Samsungs have HDR 10+ while the Sonys have Dolby Vision.
Now I’m reading your comment again I realize I thought you were interested in q90t vs Q80T....sorry. Everything I’ve seen says the x950h has great pq, motion etc.... if you don’t need hdmi 2.1 then I think you can’t go wrong with it.
So if choosing between a 65" Q90T or a 75" Q80T, any opinions on which would be the better option. Looking the get one of these two come Black Friday, to go with a Xbox SX.

I'm having issues with dolby vision content being extremely dark when streaming through my roku app, but when streaming through the fire stick, picture is damn near flawless. Any suggestions for calibration, or should I just stream through my fire stick? someone please help.
great video. i really like to see the tcl 6 seriers along side the samsung 70t as its a closer price comparison. but great job on this one...thanks
Nice review & do a same review like you did but with the most budget tv battles tcl 635 & hisense h9g! I'll be back when you do! Lol
Makes sense since the 90T approaches OLED prices. For value the TCL is great.
The samsung is 2.5 times the price of the TCL.
FURognar the newest version 75” 6 series is $1399 USD at Best Buy. Seems like a steal.
Very good review. So detailed
Could we get a QLED like price comparison or opinion? I dont game at all. Best TV & Movie experience for 55" @ $1200? Like Q80T vs X950H
Great job. Excellent review.
Superb review, really well done. Thanks.
Welcome aboard! I’m not a professional calibrator and won’t pretend to be, so I use the most accurate picture modes instead
If my viewing angle will never exceed 20-25 degrees, what's the LEAST I should pay for 50 to 55 inches?
Hey man do you have any videos comparing or reviewing the lg nanocell 85? I really love see a video of that tv agaisnt tcl 6 series 2018 or 2020
Great comparison but wouldn't it be more appropriate to compare the Samsung q90t to the 2020 TLC Class 8 Series?
Very nicely done video. Big up yuhself.
Great review 👍
Interesting would you say that the Q60T would possibly be slightly lower performing than the TCL 6 series since they would be closer in price range
awesome comparison👍👍
Good job ty, the hdmi 2.1 is for gaming, if ur not gaming the tcl may work best and save a lot more or upgrade to a 75, i hope they start making 86inches, i would be down for that
Excellent Comparison Sir
Where's that game mode test video? I've been hearing a lot about local dimming problems in game mode and was wondering how your experience is.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but wich TV is the best for Movies? Hisense H8G or TCL Qled
The TCL 6 series has the H8G beat in almost every way
OMG thanks God you answered
Because I just realized that the Qled series where I live at is the Q637
You know anything about this or if this is still better than the H8G?
The 6 series would compete with the H9G, so it’ll have a better feature-set than the H8G
The q90t had much more color, less blooming, better off axis viewing, and was brighter. Much better overall for sure
@@FURognar wrong, this is because of camera!! The Q90T does not wash out anything in person..
am i the only one who saw the Fanta poured into the Glass and felt that Samsungs color is so unnatural it did not look real at all while tcls color was soothing
or is that just because of high brightness losing detail and i must see it in person
@@manankataria absolutely
thanks for this! TCL is better in terms of value, imo. Here in the Philippines, Samsung price is double of TCL counterpart.
🧐Do you think changing the dimming on the 6 series would help improve its original functionality? 🤔
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Hey villa man have u tried any Yamaha receivers or sony receivers n what r ur best bookshelf speakers
Best tv review i have ever seen, ty. Where is your accent from?
Thanks! I’m Jamaican. And to answer your other question, I learnt about TVs over the years because of my interest in A/V
Really enjoyed, can do same for tcl vs lg nano or is tht not a fair comparison?
The question is,do you need The brightness for your room in daylight?
I too would like to see them compared with the Sony X950H; strictly content, not a console gamer.
Whisper Status has a series of videos comparing the TCL 6 to the Sony 950G. Its eye opening. You should go check those out.
@@FURognar Thanks, I will 👍🏽
@@FURognar buit that's with the 49 inch sony950h.. And the 49 has lower specs than 55 and up..
Villa, if you had to choose, a 55inch Q90 or a 65 inch TCL??
I think I’d go for the TCL, especially at the larger size
@@ThaVillaMan Thank you so much for the reply! You got a new sub!!!
Anytime 🙏🏾
Seems TCL was trying to emulate the black characteristics of OLED
Oh man the TCL looks really bad on the star field compared to the Q90T
LCD televisions will struggle with the star field test but the TCL looked really bad.
Since the stars are very dim to begin with, the local dimming reduces them further to minimize blooming and they become barely visible.
but i any other scene it looked better
You'd think he'd at least use the 6 but no,let's compare premium with Tesco home brand lol
does it really matter tho?
Both TV look amazing 🙌🏾
Where does the Q80T stand ?? And compared with X950H ...which one to consider
www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/samsung-q80t-vs-samsung-q90t/1819/9810
ruclips.net/video/_-qUD2WdJtg/видео.html&ab_channel=AbtElectronics
Q80T isn't as bright and local dimming better on Q90T.
@@shredman59 R u sure Samsung has a edge over Sony's pq??....as maximum reviews say Sony will be better in terms of Pq....still highly confused!
Bina Agarwal I cant comment on the picture quality. Was just pointing out the feature differences.
Now I’m reading your comment again I realize I thought you were interested in q90t vs Q80T....sorry. Everything I’ve seen says the x950h has great pq, motion etc.... if you don’t need hdmi 2.1 then I think you can’t go wrong with it.
@@shredman59 appreciated!
So if choosing between a 65" Q90T or a 75" Q80T, any opinions on which would be the better option. Looking the get one of these two come Black Friday, to go with a Xbox SX.
Xbox series x support dolby vision! QLED does not have but QLED will have dynamic hdr because of hdmi 2.1 port!!
@@hahahahahahahahahahahahaha7425 So then what TV do you suggest. I don't wanna go with an OLED, because of burn in and my occasional falling asleep drunk in the middle of a game.
@@FoldintoYourself lmao🤣🤣 "falling asleep drunk"🤣🤣🤣this is so funny, yeah about what i recommend, if you want dolby vision Lcd go for the X900H, if you want the best impactful hdr in the markets now go for the Q90T!! if you go for the 900h do not expect to have a QLED brightness and colours or blacks!! Q90T is much better. But again they don't support dolby. Maybe next gen consoles will have hdr10+ dynamic hdr in the future...
@@hahahahahahahahahahahahaha7425 Hey it happens. Lol. Sometime you have one too many. Well, I am waiting till Black Friday, so still a couple of months away. Part of me thinks maybe even wait until next year to grab the TV, when more models made for next gen systems come out. Just not sure that I can go a full year playing the new XSX on my 8 year old 55" inch 1080p.
@@FoldintoYourself hahaha yeah 🤣🤣🤣 well if you cannot wait either buy the 900h sony for dolby, or buy a q90t and play in hdr10 with chroma 444 rgb!! I have the Q95T and i am waiting for the PS5!! Dolby doesn't really affect me because now we can use hdr rgb instead of yuv422!! Don't think the ps5 is going to support DV either
Awesome comparison! Easy sub! Keep it up!
Are hinsense tv any good in 65 inch compared to tcl
