I got my TCL 6-Series 65" R625, delivered last Friday. It's such a nice tv, great esthetics, amazing image, beautiful colors and Roku TV. I'm in love with it!!

My 85 yr old father just bought this tv and loves it. He was having problems seeing his old LG side lit LED tv. I told him to look at this tv as well as Visio M series. He really likes the brightness of this tv as well as the ease of use of Roku. Overall a great tv at a great price point. Keep up the great reviews!

Lightning struck my yard last weekend and fried my TV. I spend just about a full day watching your TV reviews and decided to go with the TCL 55" 6 Series and it looks so good. Thanks for all the info.
I'm still rocking last year's 65" 6 series, bought it for $999 and 2 ½ months later best buy refunded me $250 because they had dropped the price. Best bang for buck tv I've ever bought and I tend to buy new ones every couple years. Had the 55" 4 series the year before, and was thinking about checking out the new quantum dot set but I think I'll stick where I'm at. Bottom line = Tcl offers great TV's at a great price, and I haven't had a bad experience yet with them.
Can you redo the H8F review? You did the brightness ramps in a brightly lit room. Standardization is what makes tests comparable.

The problem with receiving "vetted" units from the manufacturer for review is that it avoids one of the biggest issues with the TCLs, namely the "panel lottery". These TVs can be nice- if you can find a good one. I've seen too many people give up after having to exchange two or three of them. The motion on the 625 also seems worse than the 2018 versions for some reason from the examples I've seen. I think I'd take an H9F in this price range, maybe even the Vizio M-series, before the current 625 at the price.
I definitely won the lottery on my 625. I have had a 625 and H9F side by side for a week and maybe I don't have the eye for it but I see no huge advantage in motion on the H9F and I watch a ton of sports
You got plenty of panel lottery issues with the Hisense H9F too. In fact, I’ve heard it’s even worse with Hisense.
I just bought a 55 inch!
Pros: Great vibrant picture, great hdr, fast and easy to use.
Cons: Sometimes very fast motion can get glitchy regardless of motion settings, I find myself adjusting settings everytime depending on what source I'm watching ex. Streaming, 4k disc, bluray etc.
Overall I really really like this tv, very much a step up from Vizio M7.
Mine is on its way from Ohio on a FedEx truck. Heading right into a lake effect storm of 1-3 feet set for tomorrow from Buffalo to Syracuse. Hopefully the driver does overnights so I get it tomorrow as scheduled. Would love to have it all set up for race day. Great video, btw. You guys do a fantastic job!
I have the costco version 65inch 4k 65RS13 (I believe). Great quality picture and the exterior bezels look fancy. Settings i use is Brighter, vivid, with the warm color tone. Its almost perfect

2. How about a comparison with the whole TCL lineup, to see how a 4, 5, 6 and even the 8 series offers in features, value, and what you miss or get when deciding for 1 series or the other(s).
I was all set to buy the 2018 6 series and now the 2019 6 series comes out. It's exhausting trying to make these decisions.

@@akshay1715dj I think they're both supposed to be decent budget TVs. I went with the 2019 version and it arrives later this week.
If you're looking at this price range I don't think you can go wrong with either. Just need to make sure everything is calibrated after you get it.

The 4 and 5 suck. The 6 and 8 are the only two TCL’s worth considering.

Still has those dark hazzy corners though....ahhhh glad I got the 2018 version, still think its the best 6-Series until the new stuff this year comes out. Hopefully in April again.
Great review. I wonder if you can give me some advice I need to buy a budget TV with a good refresh rate ( I like gaming ) but also is very forgiving with blacks because I'll be watching mostly in a dark room and I like watching dark movies, what would you recommend?

I bought this TV a couple days ago, based on reviews. I am by no means a television expert, but mine looks great. I've watched lots of content from different sources, and I'm very happy with mine.

I have the older p55605 model and was hoping they'd fix the black crush by now as it is my single biggest gripe. Oddly though, when I watch dark shows on the older model, I just turn off all local dimming and I get a ton of those grey levels back. That's not a fantastic fix by any means, but for some of the darkest shows, it makes a huge difference.
Question.. so I just ordered the 65r625 yesterday. Last tv I purchased was a low-end 49" so this 6-series will definitely be a huge step up NO MATTER WHAT. Anyway, how can I do a simple at-home test to ensure I'm getting the full 6-series experience? (Given my level of expertise, I'm afraid I won't really know if I actually got what I paid for.) Thanks in advance for the help and tips.
wanted a nice tv that wouldn’t break my pockets before the new consoles came out. And this thing is awesome 💯💯 definitely satisfied with my purchase.

So I'm about to pull the trigger on this TV and I'm seeing A TON of threads about an audio lag issue when using a soundbar or AV receiver with this or other Roku tv's. Have you heard of this issue? If so have you tested it and do you possibly know of a fix? Thanks in advance and love your content.

So I hear next years 6 Series is going to have Mini LED backlighting. All I wanna know is if the Response Time will be better for less motion blur...specially when gaming. That's my main concern.

I was going to get this TV. But saw it in person at Best Buy and just went with the Vizio M Series Quantum for $465 so I'm more than satisfied with the quality and price!
Me too! Vizio picture is the best under $800! I really want a P series but the M is the best bang $450 55" and I plugged in a Fire TV 4K ...does anything my Oled does and I hate the LG OS.

What settings do u guys use on this tv? We just got it and it’s amazing just can’t figure out the best settings for like Hulu, and RUclips etc.
Disable HDR unfortunately hard to find a TV that plays HDR really well.
I bought the 625 55' and I love it most of the time. Being a 60hz panel you will see motion issues. Especially with flying birds and some fight scenes. I haven't noticed too much of a problem with streaming NBA games. For the price point it's gonna have issues. The pro's outweigh the cons for me. I wanna see what CES 2020 has to bring. I love the underdog but TCL needs 120hz 6 series already. I'm planning on selling this one next year when the new ones come out and get a 120hz panel hopefully from TCL. I had a 5 series first and that made me a believer in the brand. Maybe its on purpose because companies have to increment upgrade every year to stay afloat. Who knows. That middle space is getting crowded and punching above its weight. Good for us!
I agree, for sports, I have been turning on smoothing to low and noise reduction at High.
For the price you would expect the TV to lack features, not for it to have issues. The quality of the included features should be spot on.

@@leroybrown9143 QC is an issue at some level with all brands which is why there are 30 day returns. Calibration is needed to get the best out of every set. A 60hz panel is just a 60 hz panel. That's not a feature its the build. 4 banger vs V6 it just does what it can. The only thing missing from this TV is 120hz. After calibration and over the air updates at this price point we the customer are winning. Next year is gonna be interesting.
@@multiverse7797 There are companies being busted for buying chinese products and stamping made in USA. You'd be pretty hard pressed to live only made in america all year round. All governments spy on each other. I Just live my life the best I can because privacy is only perceived not actually real. Being in the Tech industry I see it all the time.

I have read reviews that compared to 2019, 2018 had better movements control over 2019.

Same here I bought a Samsung 8 series 65 inch for $800 on black Friday in best buy but I was debating between that one and the tcl 6 series 65 inch qled which went for $700. They seem very similar in the specs but I choose the Samsung since they told me it's a reliable brand. I just wanted to know if it was worth the extra $100. If anyone can help that would be great.

I have the 55” tcl series 4 and there seems as faces are a touch fuzzy and I can’t seem to find the adjustment for that? Most everything looks ok but it’s mostly only on my direct tv sports channels like ESPN I’m having the face problems which should be 4K I don’t understand the fuzzy faces

I cant make use of the Dolby Vision HDR much so with that said,how does the HDR10 compare to that of the series 4 HDR10 from TCL?
Just figured I would add my two sense, as I have both a 4 series and a r625. I would stay away from the 4 series if you watch any HDR, as the peak brightness of that panel isn't enough for HDR content. There's massive black crush when viewing HDR10 material. As a strictly SDR TV, it's great for the price. It's a better TV than the Samsung ku6300 I have, that cost more than twice the price. Now the r625 is in a totally different league. It's very capable of pushing HDR10 content, and supports Dolby Vision....which the 4 series doesn't. Tbh, I feel like TCL should of left HDR completely out of the 4 series. It almost feels like a lie when a company markets something as HDR, but it can't display HDR properly. Luckily, you can turn off HDR on the 4 series, which looks so much better, but totally defeats the purpose of having a HDR TV. I know it pisses me off. If it was my particular viewing TV, I would of returned it, but luckily I have the r625 in my bed room 😅

Honestly love this guy's videos. I never thought I'd lean into digital trends for any tech info, but after doing tons of research, watching RTings videos and reading their in depth reviews, this guy seems to do just as good a job, but in layman's terms in video. Fantastic. Keep it up, man. Earned my sub. I just keep coming back here for every TV I'm looking into.
I received my 65R625 last week. I loved it for about a day, then I noticed that whenever I played Super Mario World on it, Mario looked like a blurry, smeary mess every time he jumped. BFI just made it look like two Marios jumping. I am returning it and getting a Vizio M8. I will gladly trade a little brightness for better clarity in motion.

I have 55615 for a year and half .the tv still looks awesome and very bright.i love playing my Xbox one x on it ,currently playing Witcher 3.i see no reason to switch the 625 just not worth it.

Not to be weird but I have literally spent the last three months deciding on what TV to get and you’ve actually purchased the TCL 75 inch and I own a Sony 60 inch from 2015 and it’s got the best picture I’ve seen from mid tier TVs. I would love to keep this conversation going and let you know what exactly I decide to get but the reason I told you to purchase the TCL was because I’ve read and watched so many reviews on it that said it’s the best bang for the buck but I want to get an OLED TV and I’m waiting for text time to do that but if this TV performs the way the reviews say it doesThat’s a game changer

the real question: Are they still messing with GOOGLE Suit RUclips, RUclipsTV, Google Play Movies? Since an update a year ago.. the volume on those apps is ultra low and constantly lagging. Called support and they said that it was due to their Update that changed the Wifi Buffering. The option is there..but you can not adjust it back. Highly let down by TCL

You need to put the Roku remote app on your phone and got into advanced settings and change the contrast setting to 1.8 I believe or maybe 2.2 can’t remember which
Which Roku App. There are like 5 Roku Remote Apps.

You need to click the gear icon in the top right corner to connect to the Roku TV and then again click on the gear icon and choose "Expert Picture Settings" to uodate the gamma value and fine-tune value for white balance and color space by specifying a bunch of RGB number; Red, Green, Blue.
I bought last years model for my bedroom I’ll wait for the R625 to get an update so i can put it in my living room
I think the picture quality has improved over the past few weeks with the firmware updates.
@@stopthefomo I can snag the TCL 2018 65R615 for 630 or the TCL 2019 65R625 for 700. Do you think it's worth it? They both seem to come with their own issues, and with the 625 being so new it's hard to make a decision. Seems like they improved on some items and went backwards on others. I suppose if they made it too easy on us then you wouldn't be making videos. :)
@@stopthefomo Fomo what version firmware are you on? I am on 9.1 647-88 and it's crushing blacks. Actually the local dimming doesn't even work..lol I hear the 9.2 fixes this. Can you confirm this?

Love my TCL. However look at the corners at 0:28. It bugs the hell out of me, but I obv try not to focus on the corners when gaming or streaming

I would go with the 55inch LG. Its a high end OLED TV with the best TV display on the market. 55inch really is a nice entry level big TV and also quality over quantity. I have the 2019 LG C9 65inch and its amazing. The new LG TV's even have G-Sync support and HDMI 2.1 along with a ver powerful CPU.

Has anyone experienced sound lag when using a sound bar and TV panel speakers at the same time? My 65 inch R625 model has some significant delay that I haven't been able to fix unfortunately. Tcl tech support hasn't been much help either, they just advised to turn off the panel speakers! Any help would be awesome if there are any suggestions. Thx!

I had the Vizio (the one WITH the dimming)and took it back for the 6 series. I actually like the Roku OS which the reviewer doesn't touch on. It's super smooth and looks great.
@@stopthefomo but you also stated sports looks fine on 625 and I agree. Had them side by side for a week and I'll take whatever motion issues there apparently are on the TCL over the horrible noise from the H9F. Maybe this isn't an issue on FiOS or other cable service but streaming on Sling and Att tv now was horrible on the H9F.

Most come with an optical out for a DAC. The DAC's in the tv's aren't audiophile quality.
you have to get a optical to rca audio converter to hook it up that way or get a real preamp with HDMI or optical inputs 🤷♂️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Crushed blacks is a deal breaker for me. Hopefully they can fix this issue.

Tcl's picture quality is really good but if you want a good refresh rate you'll have to pay more for a bigger TV. I purchased the 43s525 the color tone and deep blacks are what drew me in but it was refresh rate claims that sold it. Unfortunately the TV only did 60hz not the 120cmi and 240 natural motion as advertised. I contacted TCL and they confirmed the refresh rates on some models were not accurate. Needless to say I did some research and found out that the company is being sued for false refresh rates so be careful not to push those claims unless you know them to be true.

DIGITAL TRENDS.....being that you guys focus on AV equipment it might be good to invest in a better 4k camera or change how you edit and render your videos....alot less interesting and cheaper channels have great youtube video quality. And being that you review tv's its worth the investment. Even though its RUclips you can still do alot better with your video quality.

I work at Best Buy and we just got these on display a month ago the 55, 65 and 75 and the 55 & 65’s LED arrays have already died in sections so much so that the store has them turned off until they get replaced. Didn’t even last a month of 12hr a day use.
To compound this, a friend of mine bought a 75” 6 series (previous model) and his LED array died as well.
These tv’s are junk.
Street Lethal Garage I’m at Best Buy too and we just have the 65 up. I’ll keep an eye on it. One of our older models when I first started 1 1 1/2 years ago had its backlight completely go out. Haven’t ever recommended tcl unless someone loves Roku and wants a cheap tv with decent picture. I’m also an lg expert so... lol. Happy turkey day bro. I work 430-1am.
