    I hate to admit that this is the same effect this medication has had on me. It's embarrassing because I grew up untreated for ADHD so at 19, I finally felt more "powerful" with this Adderall rearranging my brain- I started college, can clean my room faster, ect. Now, I've become dependent on it even though it continues to make me zone out, seclude myself, and fall asleep all day if I don't take it. Thank you for being honest and reminding me that I should talk to a doctor. Best of luck to you, my dude.

      Hey thanks mate! I actually ended up talking to my doctor and reducing my dosage by almost half and that really helped a lot! I find it much more manageable now and don't feel many side effects at all, hopefully that might work the same for you friend :)

    I’ve done 15mg for about 4 years now. If I am well rested, eat normal, and exercise, it works like a dream. Perfect. If I stay up too late like right now LOL. I can operate the next day, but it’s a bit clunky. On the headaches. I’m convinced that it makes me get away from caffeine. When/if I do that, I’ll think I get a small headache because of that. Sometimes I drink coffee when I’m not on it just to give myself enough caffeine to prevent that. So funny. I’ve never changed from 15mg.

    • @morelife6508
      @morelife6508 3 года назад +3

      Yes. Small doses of IR through the day work perfectly. I like 3.5 mg of IR 3-4x per day.
      Some days I'll only have 3.5mg some days nothing. I run a minimum of 5 miles per day 5 days a week. I also lift weights.
      I eat 80% healthy but have some bad carbs before a long run.
      For the most part I just eat steak and eggs.
      I think people rely on drugs to do all the work.
      With ADHD I believe it takes a complete lifestyle change to normalize one's life. Not just taking a pill while upping the dose cause said pill has lost its effects.

There is a standard test they’ll give you that will rate your probability of having one of these disorders. (They are questions pertaining to your ability/inability to focus, to follow through with thoughts and tasks, and things that indicate your level of hyperactivity.) The physician will make a diagnosis based on your test results, and then if its decided you have either of the two conditions... they would at that point address possible treatments or medications. It's nice to hear some of the side effects of too high a dose, I know everyone's different but since I'm just starting out it gives me a little bit of something to look for instead of just being like "well... I hope I don't die or rip someones head off or something."

    You know what sort of video I would love to see from you??? Please do an in depth video addressing all the rug addicts coming on RUclips stating how bad their 10-20 year "addiction" to Adderall was and how they have finally found "ZEN" and a "healthy" life post Adderall and trying to force their experience/ideology on to everyone in the world. The videos are like basically promoting the misunderstanding and judgmental stigma attached to ADHD medications. Most of them go so far as to preach that anyone that is ADHD and taking any stimulant medication for it is a drug addict and will be ruined from taking them eventually. It needs to be addressed because, there are not enough videos of us that take the medications properly and only have had an AWESOME life thanks to these medications!! Thank YOU!! You are a savior in our world.

      I was on Adderall from 06 to 2010. I had a pretty rough experience and decided to go off of it. I managed to find clarity in my life and accomplish a lot i hadn't on Adderall. But I think that was a coincidence. I noticed all the same issues had done a lot of damage to my life in that time however and have decided to go back on now (11 years later). I understand the impulse to see Adderall as the issue. But I think people are looking for a scapegoat for their own behavior or mistakes. And I think many people do take more than they should. Not all of course. And if anyone has addictive tendencies they're done for if introduced to it.

    Adderall has saved my marriage and my study. To be honest, I was expecting little to no chnage when I started it. My focus has improved by around 70%, my brain has FINALLY stopped bombarding me with useless thoughts, and attention towards one thing and not ''everyfreakinthing'' has improved tremendously. Only downside is the lack of hunger (lost 15lb) and sleep ( used to sleep 10-12 hours, now I sleep 5 to 8 hours).

    • @FelipeMartinin

      Maybe try lowering your dose and or adding somewhat challenging exercise. I can sleep on 3.5mg of IR taken 3-4x per day.
      With a day break or so in each week.
      I really believe folks cranking out 20+mg per day are using too much.
      Treating ADHD requires a full lifestyle examination and change. While always searching for ways to improve.
      Not just relying on a pill to completely resolve your mental condition.

      I hope so. Because some days I feel like it is stronger than other days. Or after 3-4 days on it does not seem to be as strong. And that's when I take a day or 2 off so it can clear out my system and I can reboot.
      With the instant release it gives me that high energy awake go go go kind of feeling. And I like that. I didn't feel that way with extended release. I knew I had taken it but wasn't moving and feeling the way I wanted. Maybe a higher extended release could work better for me than the 20mg? I guess I am still figuring it out 🤪

    Dexamphetamine/amphetamine has given me my life back, and enabled me to focus. I have genuine ADHD, yet it does give me a boost. The problem comes when people take the pill and expect magic to happen every day. You have to maintain healthy diet, exercise, and stay busy. I tried adderall as a teen, then spent My entire 20s without adderall, finally diagnosed and treated at 29. It has given me my life back. I stay at a low dose, and maintain diet. If you crash, it is because you eat like shit. Avoid sugar, eat healthy , and drink alot of water. (Yes I have done all of this without adderall and I know the difference without it)

    • @MewithADHD
      @MewithADHD  6 лет назад +5

      I completely agree!! I'm really glad it's working for you now too :) I found that healthy eating, exercise, and a huge one was getting a good sleep pattern too helped a ton! I can definitely tell the difference when I don't take it but it's nowhere near as significant as it was before I changed my lifestyle! I also take a low dose too now, it just works better for me

    • @JTEsterkamp
      @JTEsterkamp 4 года назад +5

      Agreed, I took concerta in grade school which didn't work at all and adderall in college which worked great but I had a very unhealthy lifestyle that made the side effects terrible. I'd take adderall and then chain smoke cigarettes, smoke a lot of weed and chug 4 cups of coffee which was a terrible idea, it didn't help I was also on way too high a dose. I quit taking it and have spent all of my 20's off adderal. I've gotten laid off from jobs and dealt with a lot of career and social struggles that can come from ADD. I am now 29 and starting back on adderall in the next couple weeks. I don't smoke weed or cigarettes anymore, go for runs regularly and am weaning myself off caffiene now. I'm also looking to keep the dosage low as well and use adderall as part of wider treatment regiment that includes dieting, exercise and being organized and planning things out. Adderall defiently helps with the social aspect, easier to start and hold conversations, not getting so jumbled up with trying to articulate your thoughts

    • @MewithADHD
      @MewithADHD  4 года назад +2

      You totally have the right mindset now friend! listening to you talk about how the 30mg worked for you it made me realize that when I was a kid I was diagnosed I took it for a short while few months and it made me feel like a zombie i got better grade and stuff because I focused more in class but i didn't feel like myself refusing to take it again. man am i regretting that now when i think of how much i struggled and didn't have to. looking back and listening to you im beginning to think i was taking to high of a dose. over the years I've created many coping mechanisms witch worked for the most part but ive been in a bad spot for a long while and been on and off depression meds. I finally decided to try adhd meds again after more than a decade of not wanted to try them again because of the bad experiences when i was a kid. For me now, I'm not happy go lucky but I definitely feel more normal then I have in years not perfect, still having trouble a little trouble even watching this I'm multitasking and trying to do other things while watching the video even when I don't need to but I've noticed so many things that improved. Right now on 10mg and its only been a few weeks but the improvement is undeniable for me I'm glad I gave it another chance.

    I took adderall for a few months as a kid but I really cant remember what it did for me. Maybe I was too young to notice or remember. I think my parents took me off of it because they believed I was doing well shortly after they stopped giving it to me and thought I would be better off without it. But I think my mother regrets having done so now because obviously I still have an issue. Now being in my mid 20s and having struggled for far too long with (what I'm pretty sure is) ADHD, I'm finally going to get back on it. I hope it straightens my mind up a bit, for at least the time I need to dedicate to my passions. At this rate, I'll be 35 and full of regret if I don't do something about it. I don't know if adderall is the answer, but I'm looking for something to give me the focus and drive to achieve my goals.

    I had untreated ADHD for a while. 30mg IR Adderall levels me out for about 3 hours and I have great focus and task management. My job reviews have went from average to excellent.
    A word of caution, you'll become dependent on Adderall. I'll go off it for a week or two just to break the cycle.
    Also I take 25mg Straterra everyday which does help. It take 3-4 weeks to take effect though.
    It's more of a norepinephrine inhibitor and has much less effect on dopamine levels although it does gradually increase frontal lobe dopamine levels.
    Just be careful with Adderall.

    Bro, I've had ts ever since I was young. I've only seen 2 neurologists in my life and neither of them diagnosed me for adhd, which now I believe I've been living with this entire time too. I'm also scared to ask my current neurologist about it because I don't want him to think (or even another dr if I were to go to another one) that I'm just faking it for the adderall or ritalin. My short term memory is screwed. I can shower and end up shampooing and/or soaping multiple times because I constantly forget if I had just shampooed or soaped. I always find myself zoning out during conversations and it makes me seem rude or slow and ditzy, idk if it's zoning out or I'm just always thinking about other things. I interrupt a lot when I dont mean to, I can't help it.

    I normally take another around 4pm just so i wouldn’t feel so tired but then by the time I get home I wouldn’t be able to sleep by 12 am. Plus Your mlg are higher than mine.

      I'm currently on 15mg now extended release so I take it first thing in the morning, I still crash a little around 4pm but if I know I have a lot of work to do still then maybe I will have a coffee around 3pm but nothing later than that :)

    Before Adderall XR, I couldn't focus on anything I needed to do.
    On Adderall XR, I focused every single thing I needed to do... all at the same time. And the crashes sucked. Yikes.
    Super glad that my psychiatrist told me about Vyvanse. It cut out all the weirdness that I experienced with Adderall and Adderall XR. Vyvanse is a lot like Adderall XR but much smoother with no crashes and no jittery feeling.
    I've been on ADHD medication for 12 years and it wasn't until last year that I finally was able to discover the perfect medication and dosage that works best for me. That is 70mg of Vyvanse, in which I take half a pill at 6am and the other half at 8am. For some reason, splitting the dosage
    Iike that is perfect for my body. It keeps me going all day, no crashes, no crazy hyper-focusing, and no jittery feelings. 11 years to figure that out. Than again, it makes total sense that it took an ADHDer a long time to figure something out. Lolz. WHEEEEEEEE!!!!

      Hey Alex, my life changed because of getting the help I needed. I was getting rekt at my second year in college and I just couldn't handle it anymore. I decided to get tested and I was diagnosed with ADHD. A few months later after my Brain started getting used to medication and advice, it finally kicked in. My drive to get better has been amazingly fun and well. I had a 1.2 gpa after 4 semesters before I got treated. Now the last three semesters Ive been averaging like 3.7 gpa. Life is going way better. I got a girlfriend that I'll eventually marry, I got my grades turned around, my goals improved. Go get tested and get the help you deserve. It sucks living with ADHD without treatment. Medication may not work with everyone but you should see if it will. Good luck!

    leaky gut is pretty undiagnosied in a lot of ADHD sufferers.

    In my opinion, like everything Adderall should be taken with moderation. If you become addicted to it, it can change your whole personality. I’ve been taking it consistently for about 7 months and it has helped me lose weight, it turns my sex drive up and just my overall outlook on life. I say this all the time for people who haven’t taken Adderall before … whatever it is that you like to do, Adderall just amplifies it 10 times over. It’s on you to learn how to control it

    I just switched to stimulants. Trying Adderall for the first day, but wants people's takes on Adderall vs. Vyvanse and Concerta?

    • @DS.the1st
      @DS.the1st 5 лет назад

      Adderall is decent and even better in therapeutic doses like 25mg for example, even though I took 50mg my first time before I got prescribed jus to test it out (I have ADHD) That's pretty high dose but for me it wasnt too bad compared to what ppl would feel without adhd or with low tolerance. It has more euphoria but lower doses are better for focus, also less teeth grinding which is a SHIT side effect and less tunnel vision. Vyvanse is supposed to be similar but less side effects, calmer and longer lasting but I haven't tried it. Concerta is ritalin I think, which is different to amphetamines

    I think I have adhd but now I don't want to take it. please respond im so confused.

    • @MewithADHD
      @MewithADHD  5 лет назад +2

      Hey! Don't worry it wasn't getting addicted to stimulants, what happened was this.. i was on the 20 during a time when i was travelling a lot at work and that meant i was getting a lot less sleep than i normally do, because of the lack of sleep the Adderall wasn't working very well and i thought it was because i needed a higher dosage, when really I'm just needed to get more sleep! Once i got more sleep i ended up going all the way down to 15mg which is where I'm currently at :)

    Too much adderal is bad I’ve noticed to key to marking it work long term is to stay on a low dose and take breaks every now and then like say take a weekend off of it you might feel like shit for a day coming off a low dose but I feel like it’s good for your body I absolutely love adderal it has helped me become successful but I will never agin take heavy doses

      Agreed! I take a low for also and I find it to work best for me like that, too much makes me feel like a zombie, and like you said not taking it on weekends that I'm planning on relaxing helps my body not become too tolerent of it so I can stay on a low dose
