  • Well, I'm back! Its been a while I know! But it feels good to be back. Today I wanted to catch you all up on where I've been for the last year and what I've been doing! Which is being a parent as you may have gathered xD. I wanted to talk about some of the ups and downs of being not just a parent, but a parent with ADHD and Tourette's. Its been quite a struggle but the reality is I wouldn't change it for anything and although I was really happy to take the time off and spend my first year of my daughters life focusing on her, I'm glad to be back making content.
Stay tuned for new videos because I have some really good ones coming up soon too!
    Thanks for watching!

SO glad you're back! This past year has been when my journey of getting diagnosed with ADHD really began and i binge watched all your videos, they were my best resource in learning about it. I was worried you weren't coming back and that I'd lost my best resource just as i discovered it! Anyways, glad you're back you've been so helpful to me! And congrats on your baby, she's adorable!

Aww thank you! It's good to be back! :) Wow so how has your first year been!?!? I hope it's been good for you! I heard for many people its been a little difficult due to seeing doctors etc, but hopefully that wasn't the case for you! And thank you Pepper sure is a little cutie 🥰.

@@MewithADHD so my first year has been crazy, the diagnosis wasn't that difficult and getting on medication for it was the best thing I've ever done! But recently I was taken off of it since I've been having seizures and the doctors are looking into epilepsy, so hopefully when I get that straightened out I'll be able to get on something that will he helpful again :)) just working through one day at a time until then 🤗

Oh my gosh I'm sorry that happened to you, what a pain :( especially seen as though the medication looked to be working so well for you! I really hope they manage to sort that out for you, but I'm really glad to hear that it wasn't a hard process for you to get the diagnosis though! I felt like that was the best part for me, finally putting a name to all the things that I struggle with 😅

Congrats! Being a girl dad is so great!! Im a mom, but my husband loves it.
I nearly cried watching this video, but it was so great seeing another parent going through what i went through. We are on baby 2, and i get this way sometimes. Disconnected and isolate, just want to be alone and feel 0. Just from watching a few of your videos, im going to the doctor to test if i do have adhd. It would be such a relief to get myself on track if i do. Sometimes, im just at a loss with the memory lapses and lack of focus, or getting angry at my kids when my hyper focus is broken. Thanks for the video!

OMG Welcome back. Thank you so much for posting this video. My daughter is 20 months, and I am also a dad with ADHD. I just started streaming on Twitch (playing some games and talking about ADHD), you and a couple other youtubers really helped me realize what ADHD is, and inspired me to start talking about and spreading ADHD education, so I was so excited when I saw this video pop up!

I'm not a parent yet, but that lack of feeling life change right away happened with getting married for me. It just didn't feel magically different at first, but slowly every day I appreciate more and more being married to my husband. I think life is more about the long haul anyway, so I'm not too upset about this part of my brain's functioning.

    • @MewithADHD

I totally agree! Life is about the long haul :) and I bet it makes you appreciate the marriage more because it took time to build the appreciation :)

Being ADHD never even crossed my mind until I was handed the evaluation questions to have my daughter tested at the age of 5. We are still figuring out the right medication for myself but when my dr started me on Vyvanse it was like putting on glasses for the first time, it changed everything. I often wonder how different my life would have been if I had been diagnosed as a child because I've seen the difference it made in my daughter. As a parent the diagnosis has helped so much. When they were little I pretty much hyperfixated on them the majority of the time, once they started school I really struggled with trying to manage their schedules as well as my own and my RSD reached new levels (like going to parent teacher interviews and such, I felt like the slightest issue my child would have was a result of me being a failure as a parent for example). Managing homework is still a struggle and when they were online learning during covid I pretty fell apart... the only saving grace there was that my kids basically had to teach me what they were learning when they would ask for help and as a result, by the time they had done that, they basically worked out the problems themselves. Silver lining?

2:47 this thing isn't said nowhere. We go in autopilot too often with boring or stressful activities. doing that while going back to home is normal, while working, studying or taking care of a kid isn't. I've searched for that but i didn't find anything online. it's something diffent than a simple distraction

I don't know if the flat spot on the head is definitely because of lack of tummy time. Our son would lie wherever, whenever and he has no issues with his head shape.

My dad was a ADHD dad he was never diagnosed so he made life very hard for us. He forgot to pay bills ,the house was always a mess, he lost the house and left the country. Left my siblings and I homeless and couch surfing. Took us longer to finish school. If you have ADHD please get help before having kids.
