@@MindfulKnots can I use different yarns or will the size change too much? I have some Caron cotton and some 3 weights by other brands...not to light but a little thinner than landscapes
Hey Julie, I’m using a much thicker yarn and don’t need to do as many increasing rounds. Could you tell me the diameter of the crown in either centimetres or inches? I think I might only need to to do 4 or 5 increasing rounds.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Future comments for myself if I make this one again & of coarse if it helps someone, that's always good.
This one was alot of trial & error for me with this; I fixed it over and over until I liked it. I like the outcome alot now.
2 comments were really helpful.... one about removing 1 row of increase rounds.... and another about creating a chain to measure the circumference required for the head. So thank you to those people for those inspirations.
I decided to just use a piece of yarn to measure my head circumference (bc I don't have time to count stitches). I pulled off 1 increase round and it was still too big, so I pulled off a second. Once the rim of this circle I had crocheted matched the size I want the brim to be, I started building regular DC stitches to get the height (stopped increases). But thing is.... she does 10 regular + 4 fpdc/bpdc for the brim..... I only needed 7 rows (once it was about to my hairline, for reference) then added 4 rows of fpdc/bpdc for the border. And that is visual preference, it could have worked with 8 rows of dc and 3 rows of fpdc/bpdc for a smaller rim if you don't want it that thick on the border. Anyway.
So for me, I did....
Size 4 yarn
Size H (5mm) hook
R1: The original circle with 10 dc
R2: 2 in each
R3: 1,2 pattern
R4: 1,1,2 pattern
R5: 1,1,1,2 pattern
R6-R12: 1 only
R13-R16: fpdc/bpdc for brim
This worked for me personally. Hopefully this is enough info to help anyone troubleshoot who is struggling too.
You are a god send!!!
Thank you!!!!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you so much! 💜
Thank you! I didn't know what size hook to use and yarn weight. This comment is very helpful!
This is one of the best videos , clear instructions and no nonsense and i can see exactly where the hook is going!
I just started crocheting several weeks ago. This is the first beanie tutorial I've been able to complete successfully! I was able to make this in several hours! Thank you so much!!
I am an absolute beginner and big proctastinator and this is the first piece I was able to finish EVER 😁 it was so much fun and I loved making it. Your tutorial was amazing and super easy to follow, I'm totally gonna make a second one!
I successfully made my first beanie and it’s for my son. The tutorial your step by step so profound made easy for beginner like me. The outcome is awesome. Yesterday I bought a LionBrand yarn for my 2nd beanie project. So can’t wait to start crocheting. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks for the tutorial making my first beanie without any trouble. Love the tutorial and the close up on the stitches 👍👍👍 easy to follow for a beginner.
THANK YOU!! Before finding your video I was spending days watching atleast 5 different videos back to back on replay just trying to figure how to get that first little loop we need😭🤦♀️it took me only a couple hours to FINISH a beanie with your video! Thank youuu sm my fingers and back appreciate you more then you know lol😇😇💓

Thank you! This was my first project! Very easy to follow and my hat came out great!
With patience and determination I’m done finishing the beanie.Thank you.Your such a wonderful person.Have a great day.
This is a fantastic little tutorial!!! I've been crocheting for almost a year now, watched many RUclips videos, done my fair share of diverse projects and learned to read patterns along the way. I wish everyone did their tutorials like this! You can follow whether you're a beginner or more experienced crocheter. It's not to slow or too fast paced. It's just, so well done.
I totally agree! She did a perfect, straight forward and simple tutorial!
How much time did it take for you to complete?
So how long does it take you to complete a beanie for beginners?
I am almost done with my very first beanie! I am a newbie to crochet and u were one of the easiest and easy to follow how to videos I found! Excited to learn more!
Super helpful and illustrative! I was trying to wing it from another pattern and kept increasing when I didn't mean to... watching this, I immediately recognized what I was doing wrong. Thanks!
Wow! I'm a newbie and I followed this pattern and made two beanies easily! I used the Lion yard for my second one and it came out so much nicer!
Thanks for this tutorial! I'm going to make a bunch more to give as Christmas gifts.
How much time did it take for you to complete?
@@marva2163 with my speed, i finished in an hour.
I love the ribbing done this way. It's beautiful and simple. And I appreciate the detailed demonstration that made it easy to understand. I did it today on a beanie I made and I love it!
I’ve followed this tutorial so many times it’s so underrated,, it makes the cutest beanies ever and now o strictly use this pattern for them,,, good job girl
can we begin with magic circle?
@@leom446 yes I make mine with a MC
Thank you so much!
How much time did it take for you to complete?

Yes you can, because it is magic....😄
I LOVE this tutorial. There is no unnecessary talking for the sake of loving to hear your own voice. You explain things in a matter of fact way without constantly stumbling over your own words due to your mouth going faster than your brain and feeling the need to fill every moment with noise. Many crochet content creators will not edit out their word stumbling, so it makes it difficult to understand what they’re trying to say. Again, I believe they just love to hear themselves talk. I’ve been trying to find a simple tutorial to learn crocheting in the round and the incessant chatter from all the videos I have watched until this one made it difficult to focus. Thank you for getting straight to the point and only conveying what’s important. I now understand the pattern for increases in the round. You have a new subscriber.
I read the comments already posted and can’t agree more. I’ve been trying to crochet for years and although I’ve completed projects, they weren’t exactly what I wanted. This is the very best instruction and the beanie is perfect. Thank you.
Thank you for this super simple and easy to follow tutorial. I sincerely appreciate that you didn't muddle on and on and kept it short and sweet.
Great tutorial, so easy to follow. And I love the landscapes yarn. Scarves and hats turn out so beautifully with it.
Thanks for helping me make my first crochet hat. Your tutorial is so easy to follow and understand.
You really made your directions for this beanie easy for me to follow! I’m going to make one for each of my grown daughters and even one for myself. Thanks for your instructions!!
Best super simple yet creative beanie pattern I’ve seen. Going to give this a try! So glad I don’t have to do it in pieces and stitch it together. Thank you for posting/sharing.
This is the first hat/beanie I've made with no difficulties! Thank you so much!
This is the best beanie tutorial I have seen in a while. I have made 4 today and still making them. I donate my crocheting to homeless veterans in my area. Thank you
I come back to this video every time I decide to make a beanie! it’s the most helpful tutorial! thank you for that
HI!I i have just have got into crocheting and i'm ten and this is going soooo well
this pattern is very underrated,it consists of basic stitches so it was super easy to do
and you explained it so well! this helped me a lot,and i am so happy with the outcome, thanks!!!
wow i though i was the only child that crcohets- anyway thats cool that your 10 im 13 how long have you been crocheting? ive been crocheting for about 3 years now
I love to see when young people get into crocheting. My daughter somehow thought she had to sneak into my crochet things when she was 5. She made a sleeping bag for her Barbie doll without a pattern and she is now 32 and is wonderful at crocheting. Way to go you!
@@rng813 hi im also 13 and I also love to crochet!!! I also thought I was the only child....
After watching this video I tried same for me. The result is amazing. Thank you❤ so much
How much time did it take for you to complete?
Great instruction ❤ Love the kitty in background. This is going into my library. Can't wait to show granddaughter❤
I love this pattern! I’ve made a few of these beanies already. Thanks so much for your video!
Thank you so much! Made this beanie for my nephew today. Your instructions are FANTASTIC! I've never been able to make a circle until now. Thank you!
This has been the best most simple and accurate instructional crochet video I have ever watched…. I just started and I was finally able to complete a beanie thanks to you!!!🎉🎉🎉
Love the pattern. Would help tremendously to know how many stitches should be total after each row so we don't accidentally add or drop stitches! Thank you!
Yes please
Hi! Since we start with 10 double crochets(DC), each row should have 10 more stitches than the previous row.
For eg: row 2 will have 20 (two DC in each stitch), row 3 will have 30 (1DC and then 2DC in the next stitch), row 4 is 40, and so on till it fits your head, and then we add the ribbing
Hope this helps!

Exactly I was just thinking the same thing, because I’m notorious for adding stitches , I must count them
@@ShehzeenKhan13 it does thank you very much! Because I must count stitches or I’d have a messed project
Thank you so much for this easy tutorial. I’ve never been able to make a beanie. I’ve been stuck on granny squares for 30 years! You were so easy to follow.
Thank you so much! Loved the way you taught this and can’t wait to make many of these! 😊
The front post and back post stitch that creates the border really sets this beanie apart! Love the way it looks. Very professional. Perfect for me and gifts! I just did 2 rows of it and it looks great!
I completed one beanie in one day! This video is so good, the instructions are clear and easy to follow and the beanie turned out super cute.
I used a cotton yarn and still the beanie fits perfectly! Thank you Mindful Knots for this superb tutorial. ❤
This is THE BEST crochet video tutorial I have ever seen. Thank you so much. Explanation and instructions were all on point.
Straight to the point, no unnecessary chat, easy to follow instructions. By the way, in the UK we call the stitch a treble.
Thank you very much ! I followed your tutorial and i finally finished my first ever croshet which is gift for my dad .
Thank you! Best tutorial!! No long introduction. I did not need to fast forward as usual. Thank you for that! Easy to follow!
I just followed this post 2 days ago, I have a great beanie thanks to your very good teaching and demonstration! Can't say enough, Thank You so very much! Lis
Wonderful! You are so welcome!
These were thorough instructions on how to crochet a beanie; I appreciated you bringing in the camera closer when you showed the front and back posts and I was able to see where you were placing the hook better, thank you. A very good tutorial.
I found your channel last evening doing a search for crochet hats. I made your hat and love it! It was so easy. I used Red Heart Roll With it Melange " Curtain Call". Thank you for the tutorial. 🙂
I made my mom a bunch of these because she went through chemo for breast cancer and her hair has never been the same. Now she's not so embarrassed to go out in public.
THANK YOU💗🙏💗🙏💗🙏💗🙏💗🙏
I'm so happy to hear this! Blessings to you and your mother!
Fabulous video on a well fitting beanie hat. Well done! Thank you!
Reading these comments I'm so glad I chose to start with this project and not someone else's, so far so good, and yes, simple and easy to follow, thanks ✌️
This is the best pattern for beanies! I’ve made 5 already. I use the Caron simply soft yarn and they came out beautiful….
Love it! Very easy to follow and not boring. Thank you👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️😊
i love your easy teaching, thank you. Also your kitty cat!!! love it
By far the best tutorial I have watched. Precise and to the point. Easy to follow. Well done 👏
Love the colors…simple tecnique for the beanie👍👍❤️
I just made this and your teaching made it an easy pattern to learn. My tension must need work because your stitches look tighter than mine. No gaps. Ty for a great tutorial!
Thank you for a superb pattern. My first ever hat made and I love it!!!
My son has a big head and a lot of hair. To make this big enough for him, I used a 7mm hook, started with chain 6 to make the center circle and 20 double crochets for round 1. Then 3 in 2 for the first TWO rounds. Then 4 in 3, 5 in 4, 6 in 5, and 7 in 6 for one round each. Then I followed the rest of your pattern exactly (starting at 7:58). It came out perfect. Thanks so much for this!
Love the kitty!! Love your tutorial, thank you.
So easy to follow and makes such a nice beanie. Thanks so much!
You are very good teacher... I understood something I was confuse for years, thank you!
Very clear instructions. I’m about to finish my beanie for my daughter. Thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial. Nice, easy and quick.
Crocheting is a totally new thing for me as I challenge myself to learn something new to start this year. I wanna prove that it's never too late to learn (I'm now 49 going to be 50 soon!). So here I go! RUclips is my teacher. I have made my 1st project of making infinity scarf then I wanna extend it to a beanie. After checking out some tutorials here for beginners, then I came across this Mindfulknots! And I am now working on round 4 of the beanie. Your instruction is easy to understand, so helpful for a super beginner like me. I paused and go back many times too. Sometimes got lost with the pattern; did I do double crochet on that stitch? And redo again. 😂 I enjoy this new journey. Thank you so much Mindfulknots! I can't wait to have my 1st beanie done! 😘😘
This was by far the easiest tutorial to follow for a beanie that I've found so far. I was making one for an adult male, so I ended my last round of increases with 9 double crochets followed by an increase every 10th stitch. Then I crocheted 5 rounds without increases followed by 3 rounds of the pattern she uses at the bottom. It fit perfectly!
easy & fun pattern, thank you for slowing down when teaching front post & back post, I couldn’t get those two down but ur example was perfect to understand, Thank You !!!
If you ever need to slow a video down (not this one it's perfect) RUclips has the option under the three dots in the top right hand corner to slow the video. That's how I learned to crochet.
Absolutely incredible pattern and video. Thank you x 3 for such a sensible way of explaining things. No-nonsense, effective, crystal clear. My hat came out perfect 👍🏻 I just did 2 more increase rounds and voila. Made my first beanie ever.
This is such a great tutorial and wonderful product! Super easy to follow thank you so much!
Thank you so much, this is only the 2nd beanie I’ve made and it was so quick and easy. This will be my go to pattern. I’m not really a hat person usually but I really like this and can’t wait for cooler weather to wear it ❤
Just finished my beanie and im gonna start my second beanie for my daughter ...thank you so much for the tutorials ❤❤
Oh wow. This was so easy to follow. Thank you so much and I hope that more people find your channel as I did.
You’re a very good at crochet and explaining the pattern. Well done!
this was so nice. i made this and it came out awesome my mom loves it so much. i wish i had seen this video the first time i was making a beanie. but honestly this is so amazing and very easy to follow
This tutorial was outstanding. I'm about to go see what others you have done!
This is a nice beanie pattern. Thank you.
Gorgeous beanie! I love that yarn!
Just finished my first bennie from your tutorial, I cut back on a few rounds just to fit my head, I love the outcome, definitely will use this again an again...Thank you much!
I had to cut out 5 rows. It makes a huge hat. I love it. Will be using this pattern again.
How much time did it take for you to complete?
Thanks for sharing!
It took me two trials to make this successfully as i was using medium yarn and 5mm crochet. The first time I tried it, it was very big and I had to undo everything. So I decided to reduce stitches by 1 from the beginning. I did 9 instead of 10 in the first row, 18, 27, and so on. 63 in the repeated 10 rows. Turned out very well! Hoping that it stretches further but is snug right now. Love the pattern! Finished it in a day the second time!
Thankyou for your easy to follow instructions. I have made them for many members of my family and they love them.
This is by far the best beanie hat tutorial out there! Being a beginner, I could follow the tutorial with ease and I did make my first beanie!!! ❤️ Great job , love the video!
Awwe you’re kitty is as cute as the beanie, thank you
I have crochet the beanie just as you explained in this video. And it really looks great...so beautiful...easy to made and explained so nicely...thank you🙏
Best tutorial I’ve done made a beanie in a couple hours 😍
Absolutely great pattern! Easy to follow and the end result was super cool! Making one for all of my friends :)
What a great tutorial!!! This is such a cute easy pattern.
Omg thank you!! I would always get confused on the chain two and would think it counted as a stitch and would go into it and my work would be sooo off!!! This helps me understand a lot thankkkkkkkkk youuuuu!!!!
I made this today and it turned out great! Thank you for the clear instructions on the front post/back post stitches.
Perfectly done, easy to follow. Your yarn was less fuzzy and textured as mine,so I paused between rows and caught up. Thanks!
I love this video I am new to hat making I have watched several different beanie hat videos and I love how this one turns out
Thx soooo much!! 😊This was my first crochet beanie. I’ve never done the rib stitch. My beanie turned out great thanks to your excellent tutorial!🤩🤩🙌🧶🧶 I’ll definitely subscribe to your tutorials.
Finished mine. I used thicker yarn so I had to adjust the amount of increases and rows. I like this pattern. With some simple adjustments this pattern would can work with almost any weight of yarn.
I have been trying to follow this and looks so nice, neat and it's perfect beanie for a Barbie doll right now.
I love Landscapes and Unforgettable! Thanks!
You've explained this so well. I'm going to try and make my first beanie. I've never really understood how to make a beanie, I'm sure this will help.
Thanks a ton for this lovely video ....I made my first beanie and it came out so perfect . I followed your beanie to the T.
This IS SO EASY to follow. Your VIDEO was PERFECT. Thank you
Thank you for these instructions. You did a super job! I can't wait to wear my hat!
