In the updated pattern/video I increase after the stitches instead of before. However it will turn out exactly the same with the same stitch count.

I taught myself to crochet 55 years ago, but I always hated my projects. RUclips did not exist so I learned from a free pamphlet that came with the yarn. Printed booklets were expensive so the details were too brief. I have NEVER had such a clear demonstration of why the chain two doesn't count until today. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I subscribed to your channel and I'm looking forward to watch all your videos. Who says you can't teach an old dog a new trick?
I like you. I am so happy you found the right teacher. I’m 74 and self taught, one of the great things about the internet. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
.,
Thank you so much for this updated video. It’s much easier to follow. I appreciate you giving the stitch counts for the rows. It’s extremely helpful. Also, the lighter color yarn is so much easier to see.

You are a great crochet teacher, go at a comfortable pace, and clear camera work...thank you ! Hope you continue to add more videos when you can.
Ive been watching several beanie videos, and my beanies have been coming out odd shape that i wasnt a fan off.. this is the first one that has came out a nice shape. Trying to adjust it so i can make baby and child sizes for my kids.
Thankyou for a no BS video!!!
This is the best instruction video I have found on making caps. Very clear and helpful. Completed one cap in no time and plan on making more. Thank you!!!
I watched both videos. This one was easier. To keep up with and I can't believe how beautiful it came out! Thank you!
I made this 3 times and it would be to big. I am a beginner and I finally found out what I was doing wrong. Instead of crocheting in the middle of the double crochet stitch I was crocheting in each space and the double crochet stitch. Since I am doing it right it turned out beautiful. Thank you
Mine came out huge too and looks like a basket. I was following the original video first and then saw this one. I need to try again.
Think your video is perfect. I have made several of your hats (gifts and donations). I have made several sizes and have never had an issue with flopping or shaping. Please continue with sharing your videos/kindness and creativity.
I've been watching a lot of beanie tutorials ans yours is the best I found so far ! thank you!
Beautiful Pattern. Your patience is amazing. Thank you!❤🙏
Love how you take your time to explain every step.
Thank you for making this so close-up and slow. Other tutorials are neither of this. I appreciate you 🙏🏻
Great tutorial, you explain things so clearly. My beanie came out perfect, I can’t wait to make more ! Thank you for the updated version, I love your videos ! 😁🤍
At 16:05, for anyone who is confused on what she means by “rounds 8 through 17”, that means for the next 10 rows you will do only one double crochet into each stitch.
I finished the beanie with two rows of Single Crochet, instead. Just love it! Landscapes is a favorite of mine for hats, anyway.
Thank you so much! This is the first video where the increases were explained in a way that made it click in my head!! Im going to start this pattern soon 🙏🏻
Thankyou so much for your teaching.
It’s clear in every way.
I have made several hats,
I use your video all the time.
Never give up.
Many thanks for this tutorial, I've been looking everywhere for a beanie pattern with a ribbed edge and this fits the bill perfectly. Just completed the first, and about to start the next one.
This was brilliant, followed tutorial exactly and I’m so pleased with how it’s come out. Thank you!
Thank you for the updated video and for the most excellent, detailed instruction regarding front posts and back posts! I feel very educated now and my beanie looking wonderful!
Hi
Love this pattern, just made 16 beanies, donated the for our local homeless charity. Where i live.
You are a good teacher thank you I understand you better than most people who is trying to teach basic crochet
I prepared the beanie with your step by step instructions and it came up beautifully.. thank you so much
I finished my first beanie. Thank you for the clear instructions. Mine is not perfect but im learning. Thank you!
This is the absolute best easy beginner crochet beanie, that looks like an expensive dept. store hat.
Love this pattern! Just finished my first one for my 11 year old, I'm going to make one for my toddler next! 😊
Have been looking for an "all-in-one" beanie pattern....and this is it. 🤗 One piece...no seaming...brim worked with hat. Thank you for making my life easier! 🙂Charity beanies will fly off my hook now,🤗
Extremely easy to follow tutorial. So good when things are explained slowly so you can actually follow them. Finished product is beautiful. I’m on to my second beanie. My 23 year old son asked me if he could have my first one.
This is awesome! Thank you so much for this updated video!
Best fp and BP demonstration I've seen so far
Thank you for he updated tutorial. So much easier to follow. Thank You!
Thank you very much, it's the first time I'm making a beanie and it came out nice, I did 15 rounds and it fits well.
Absolutely brilliant 👏 you instructions are so easy to follow 😀 thank you x
Thank you for this updated video. You are a thoughtfull tutor.
Thank you for this tutorial! It's super simple/easy to follow!!
This video is one of the best I have seen. You speak clearly and go at a pace anyone can follow. Only thing I wish you had repeated the row count from where the increases stopped and you just made a DC in each stitch. I wasn’t quiet clear on whether the rows were from the beginning or at the point the increase stopped. It’s probably just me but I thought I would mention it. But you are a very good teacher and I hope you do a lot more videos. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Merry Christmas to you and your family for 2022.
Hi Vickie! I agree. My beanie ended up more like a bell than say a “U” shape and I’m not sure if I did something wrong. Every row there after had 50 DC not including that first one she counts
My first time ever crocheting and I’m making a hat thanks boo 🎉❤love it❤😊
What a great video. Very well done. Love the brim. Will be my next beani for donation.
Mine came out perfectly the first time! I haven't crocheted in years, your video was wonderful! Thank you so much, my husband loves his new beanie!! I would love to make a robe out of that super soft yarn that ppl are making blankets out of, I'm not sure what it's called but I've seen the yarn smaller and not chunky like they use for the blankets, think it would be so comfy as I LOVE my blanket... thanks again!
And thanks to your video - I just crocheted my first hat! It came out a bit big - likely my newbie stitching and yarn choice, but I rolled up the brim and it is lovely! Thank you.
Hello
Try the same pattern poss using a chunky wool , thats what i used,
And maybe a smaller hook. My crochet hook was my late mums an a old imperial size ten which is a size 4 ish metric.
Its such a great pattern to folloe
@@thelmalewis7870 Thanks!
I made 4 Beanie from this video tutorial, it's perfect. Thank you🙏🏼
This is great..I’m going to make the beanies for the homeless…I am sooo excited about your pattern..thank you💜🧶💜
I loved this video. Tried it on while making and adjusted it and had to take out a couple rows. But the instructions were very helpful.
Thank you this is the best tutorial I have watched
I am a visual crochet person, i did get the pattern but I like your video more thanks will be doing more of these 😀
I made 2 beanies with your other video. You do a great job of explaining. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos
Thank you!!! I am now trying to make a beanie again. I previously gave up!!
Made four and on my fifth ! Love it
i will use this video to actually learn to knit with one hook thank you so much, that looks incredible by the way
Thank you for sharing! You made it so easy to follow!😊
I had to put the last video at 50% speed lol. Thank u for this one!! Perfect!!
Great video. Really helped. Made the first cap and working on the second
for the brim i do 1 front post and then 1 normall double crochet in the next, then front post etc, much easier and same effect.
I've made two of these. Lovely and also fast to make. Great tutorial.Thank you 💐
I make one for my husband. I did an adjust to make 12 DC for the 1st row. Thankyou verymuch for your video ❤❤
Thanks! My beanie came out great! 😊🧶
Thank you for a great tutorial.💞
Great tutorial. I have wanted a pattern for a nice beanie hat.
This was just great!! Thank you!! Happy yule tides from Sweden!!
Hi thanks for sharing this. I am currently making one. Can you tell me if I wanted to make it stripey would it be ok to sometimes put in a single crochet for
A thinner stripe ? Thank you
if i use a smaller pin like a 2.75mm do my loops in the beginning need to be more than 4?
Easiest tutorial for beginners. I completed mine in 3 days despite tue fact that i started for the first time. I wish there was an option to show how mine turned out.
Thank you , l made one for myself, simple and lovely🥰
Was I supposed to chain 2 at the end of the round fir all the last 10 rounds of 1 DC in each stitch? Is that why it’s come out so loose fitting ?
Starting my first one♥️♥️
Mine came out like a shape of a basket. Not sure where I went wrong but will try it again.
I like how you used a much lighter yarn color for this hat because it’s so much easier to see your stitches.
The only thing is maybe use a worsted weight yarn instead of cotton yarn because cotton yarn doesn’t have much elasticity to it and if you’re planning on wearing it for winter, it won’t keep you warm in the cold weather.
is anyone else’s really big? when she held it up before the brim mine was flopping over 😓 and i even used a smaller hook
yes ): i can’t seem to figure out why mine is so loose & why i started and ended on a front post stitch for the brim…i just want answerss
@@88_l i made another one but included a hdc! it’d be dc, hdc, dc etc!
@@dalarna5025 thanks i’ll try that out!!
Yes. I tried this 5x. Finally, I got it to be the right size with a smaller hook, then switched to a bigger hook when it was becoming too small. I also did not continue with all of the ending rows because it was becoming too large. Next time I will prob do 8 or 9 rows so I can fit all of the ending pretty rows (I obviously don’t know what they’re all called lol. The reverse back stitch thingy lol)
i just skip one or two rows of increases, depending on the head i’m crocheting for. works great.
I love the pattern, the only thing is mine came out way too big in circumference wise, I didn’t even do the 17 rounds..I only did 3 out of the 17 because it was already getting way too big….it just seemed like it was widening out so much instead of going straight down…and I followed it exact, except for not using all of the 17 rounds.
My project is quite round, and doesn't seem to dome. I think I am ending each circle round not on an increase, and i have more stitches than you do?
Mine keep ending up with a hole on the top but im not sure why. My hat also turned out huge the first time but i think thats due to a bulkier material
Most part is easy and I was able to finish the beanie. Only part I felt difficult is to get the number or count at the end of each rows. So I struggled a bit to know how many each row should have. The count was given at the beginning but not from the single crotchet rows onwards. Overall good video. Thanks.
Thanks for making it slower for beginners like me. New suscriber
Hey I have a question, what is the diameter of the circle before you start to go down straight without increases ?
Are you stitches pretty loose with this pattern? I might have to go down to a size G hook. Such a great pattern and so easy to follow and work up! Thank you for the fantastic tutorial!!
Hello, where did you get this hook? I have man hands and need a thicker handle. I have the Susan Bates but it feels sooo thin in my hand. Bad cramps!
Could you use acrylic for this as well?
My hat is loosen How to tight it?? (Also great video!)
Stamps for myself :) this tutorial is great. I just started today and this has been super easy to follow!
9:06
Yes, I used an H hook and my hat is Huge😅I not did six rows and started adding the trim. I am pulling out the trim and going for 5 rows.
What would be a good pattern to match this beanie?
Why does it look like it has small gaps when you are crocheting it? Are these small gap’s visible when you wear the beanie?
Also is it ok if I only crochet the horizontal rows ? I mean that is it ok if I don’t do the last part(the vertical rows) or will it not fit?
Also my yarn is a bit thin is it ok if I use 3mm hook? Or will the beanie look different? My yarn is 360 yrd
How long should it be at the end??
I do crochet our hats and beanies. I like your yarn. Id like to know where is it available. I live in hayward, CA.
Will there be any difference if i use different yarn and follow the same instructions....help me because i am just a beginner and i dont know if i am asking a stupid question.
Tried my best, even used a stitch marker... but at the 17 rounds my hat is too big and bell shaped. 😫
Mine is kinda small since I don't have a 5.0mm hook and I'm using a 2.5mm hook, I think that's why it's kinda small
Mine turned out really big. How do I make a smaller one?
I'm following the same process. But mine is coming out as flat. Will it form like a cap once I finish it?
Loved the video! Can I ask where do you find the grips on your crochet hook? I have looked everywhere, no one seems to carry that type. Thanks for the instructions on this hat, am anxious to try my hand at this.
i just started crocheting but i’ve seen people call them ergonomic crochet hooks. the grippy part is already attached! they are very comfortable by the way
Thanks very good teacher❤
How many increases would you suggest to fit a 1 year old?
What type of crochet hook are you using in this video? Help me, please.
My hook crochets loose. Yours seems tighter.
What size,type yarn?
Hook size?
Stitch count for sizes?
Okay this video is so put together BUT it’s either hit or miss if your beanie turns out the right size or not. I’ve done this pattern for several beanies and they ALL turn out different. I even stitch mark my last dc in the round to be sure I’m not adding an extra stitch every row. Mine doesn’t dome at all when hers does. Idk if she updated this tutorial because she got people saying the same thing in her previous video but this video is getting the same results. I’m just confused…
I am following this tutorial using a chunky wool yarn with a 10mm hook. Will it still come out as a beanie? 🙈 Should I work with a 6.5mm instead but keep the chunky yarn?
Is there a written pattern? I keep getting confused by stopping and starting. Thanks
It’s been five hours and I’m still crying 😭
Why are you cryi😢
my beanie came out way too big even though i followed the instructions exactly, even after taking off some rows its too big, if i actually did the amount of rows you said then i would need way more yarn than you said. idk what i’m doing wrong i attempted this twice and both times it just doesn’t turn out right despite doing exactly what the video says
Mine keeps turning out wavy on top. i dont know why!
