I've been crocheting for 47 days now and this is my FAVORITE hat pattern/video to follow. You're an amazing teacher (and I've been teaching for 21 years- and now I coach teachers, so I know!). I have made a few as holiday gifts- with matching scarves, too! Thank you for making so many rad videos!
My suggestions: make extra rows in order to flip it back on itself: see on one big button or several small one as embellishments; crochet a flower and attach to front.
Still in the process, but as someone who ONLY knew how to chain, this video explained everything really well and I look to be on course to finish a hat soon! Great video!
I have saved this video because it is one of the best tutorials. I love how you explain where the slip stitch is and show in detail how to get to the base stitch. I had to watch a couple times but got it and made 2 hats! I added rows so that uncoils flip it over. They are so cute.
Your 30 minute beanie is adorable and needs nothing added. Anyone who takes the time to make a handmade gift should not have to worry about what the perceived value is. I have to assume the receiver will be more than aesthetic when they open this thoughtful gift. Also, you are a great instructor! Thank you for sharing your cute project.
This took me 3 tries, honestly I started it when I was exhausted over holiday but today I have 2 done quickly and they came out so cute! Thank you for sharing your pattern and directions I am 41 and learned how to crochet blankets when I was 12 but never learned anything else.
If I wanted to make the hat longer (“baggier” if that makes sense!), would I just repeat the rows 5-9, for as many rows until it is as long as I want it to be?
I really appreciate that you have added the pattern terminology after explaining the pattern. As a beginner, getting a pattern book and seeing Greek inside is intimidating. You’ve helped me break the code!
My 12 year old beginner was able to follow this quite nicely. We just paused between rows. Pleased with how the hat turned out! Thanks for a great tutorial!!
Very beginner friendly. I always struggle with where to insert the hook (especially when I get to the end of the row!) Your video made it so clear. Thank you!
Thank you so much. It's Christmas crunch time and I needed a quick/easy cap pattern to match my scarves for gifting. This is perfect.Love your assistant's hair.
I might have to stick to blankets, im 41 been crocheting blankets since I was 12. I tried this 3x. I feel close this time... Left it to try to finish tomorrow. Im usually a black thick yarn, hoping i can finish it. The other videos of making a rectangle to make a hat feels harder but ty here's to hoping i finish it tomorrow after some sleep lol
Fantastic tutorial! I have been crocheting since I had my kids then gkids. I made a hat for my 3 yr grandson but he wanted a self darker colour hat My pregnant daughter grabbed the hat and said she would love if I could crochet a similar design for her which I did with your well explained tutorial. Waiting to surprise her when she visits this weekend! Thank you! I aim to make many more for family and charity because of your simplistic, clear pattern😊
Have already made six. My suggestion…..start drinking wine starting on row 5. Starting any earlier means a lot of do-overs!! Great tutorial. Very easy to see what to do. Thank you.
Two weeks of trial and error for my first crochet project... but I have a beanie that I'm happy to wear. Thank you very much for your lessons!!! On to beanie number two. :)
So funny that a BASIC top down beanie always manages to trip me up 🤷♀️. But, I loved your tutorial and I’ll give it another try - Maybe I can get past my mental crochet beanie block !!
Thank I you. You Son is handsome so cute. Got great grandchildren older. Anyway, I don't have the thick yarn. Would like to learn with regular yarn. I always made scarfs and Blankets. Now I want to make toboggans and shawls. May God Bless your little man
You are the best teacher especially for beginners. Any time I want to learn I go straight to your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your time and expertise with us 💕💕
Good video! I made my first thing other than Plain long chain today! Had trouble getting started but after I tore it down and started over 4 times I finally got it! 😊 made one for my niece, started another one for myself so we match! Thanks for the lesson!
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you were able to make one! Let me know if you ever have pattern requests. I've been looking for ideas to create very beginner-friendly patterns ❤️
Including your design for beanies I'll try to sell to Christmas shoppers at local farmers market; first one will match a scarf (will give you credit on items' tags). Your pleasant voice delivers clear instructions at comfortable pace. Glad I've subscribed. Would appreciate close up of your hands as you teach. Toddler is adorable, as unpredictable as our grandson of same age !
Hi baby, thanks for sharing your talents and I love this idea because I make hat's only. I never used the bulky yarn because it can be expensive and you don't get much for the money but since you showed me how to make it without using up much yarn I will try it out. Have a great day
Loved your way of teaching Mam ....i have started it to do for my teenage daughter...she is also very happy to see your tutorial....thank you so much for this easy way🙏🥰
I enjoyed this video and it would be great to follow along step by step. I was kind of confused by the additional instructions for different sized hats though. But I enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much for this wonderfully simple pattern. I had a chunky yarn I wanted to use up making a hat. I tried another video and it was so very complicated. Luckily. I found your tutorial and it was so easy.
Thank you Sigoni. So Glad I found this video of yours. I recently bought a lot of Lion Brand Bulky #6 on clearance. I make Beanies to donate to Cancer Patients or anyone in need....I dress them up too, put buttons on the Ladies and pom-pom's and buttons on the kids.....fun to make and there is a real need for Beanies for all ages.
Thank you for this adorable and quick hat pattern! I am heading a new Crochet and Knitting Circle in my Senior Citizen group and will share your pattern with them! I can’t wait to crochet one! Your little boy is soo cute❣️
I made a change to the pattern by alternating the DC rows with 2 sc rows into the back loop only. It is an easy switch to make it look more interesting.
Love love this video! I am very new to crochet and this is my first hat! I was able to make a larger size with your great instructions! Added a few more rows and folded the edge! Sorry I can't figure out how to add picture😢
Love this project. Just learning crocheting and wanted to have an actual project to that is in my ability. This hits the spot beautifully. I also love the pattern notations given as I know that if I am going to be able to make something more complicated I will need to be able to use a pattern. 😃
Thank you very much. I saw this video earlier today and tried your pattern. Glad to report, its a wonderful pattern and to my surprise, I was able to complete it today in 1 hour 1/2 with taking breaks approximately. Thank you for helping me refresh my crochet to finish something.❤❤🧶🧶
I made the hat! I was surprised! It turned out great, however I do believe it needed to be a little longer for me it’s smaller than I thought! But awesome thanks so much
Thank you for this tutorial! I'm not sure if I understood why you made the beginning db crochet in the base of the chain on the first few rows but changed to skipping the base and db crocheting in the first stitch from the preceding row.
What size yarn did you use? If you use smaller yarn than the tutorial it’ll make it smaller. She used weight 6 yarn. If you use any smaller your hat will end up smaller.
What I learn by crocheting sometimes you can be pulling the stitches too tight. I had to learn not to be so tight with my stitches that means relaxing your hand and relaxing the yarn and let it flow
Awesome video. The baby is wayyy cuter than the hat! I was looking for something simple to go with my Eagles scarves.I may just do a quick ribbed brim to gussy it up! Thank you so much 💓
Did you see my 2 year old make his debut? 😂
Adorable!
Cutie pie ❣
Cute 🥰
i did so cute
He's adorable.

Love these suggestions MaryKay! ❤️ Thanks for sharing them with everyone!
A beanie does not have a flip back. only a hat.
Love how yours comes out - mine always have a bit of a point at the very top - do you have any idea why that might be?
@@rosemarimastandrea5639 Rather start with a magic ring.
Mary kay? Are you The Mary kay?
Still in the process, but as someone who ONLY knew how to chain, this video explained everything really well and I look to be on course to finish a hat soon! Great video!
I’m so glad you found it helpful!
Oh, do you hsvr a channel..?
Agreed !!!!
This is a fantastically easy beanie. I made 5 of them with left over yarn when I was locked inside during the cold and gave them to a local shelter.
How do I get to the blog for other sizes?
I have saved this video because it is one of the best tutorials. I love how you explain where the slip stitch is and show in detail how to get to the base stitch. I had to watch a couple times but got it and made 2 hats! I added rows so that uncoils flip it over. They are so cute.
Yay! I'm so happy to hear that!
Is there a written patten for this har
@@terrymatthews9739 fit my hat i used her pattern in the video and just added 3 rows. 😊
I have never made a hat so fast! My mom had been wanting a new hat and I’m so happy I could make her one for Christmas. Thank you!
Why is it mine so small after 7th row?🤭where did I gone wrong?
Your 30 minute beanie is adorable and needs nothing added. Anyone who takes the time to make a handmade gift should not have to worry about what the perceived value is. Cute hat! I will try to make some. Adorable little guy back there.
I used to do these a lot a few years ago. Adding ear flaps with pompom at the end also helps make it look more fancy. Thanks for the easy tute!
I’ve watched so many videos, never knit before in my life, and this was the first to make sense, THANK YOU!
I just finished my cute new hat!! I added 2 rows to make it fit better but this video was super easy to follow and helpful!!
Very beginner friendly. I always struggle with where to insert the hook (especially when I get to the end of the row!) Your video made it so clear. Thank you!
I love this beanie hat and the best part is that I already have the yarn. I don't have to buy any!! Thanks so much Sigoni!!
How perfect! I love when that happens ❤️
Thank you so much. It's Christmas crunch time and I needed a quick/easy cap pattern to match my scarves for gifting. This is perfect.Love your assistant's hair.

Omg, thank you so much for the simple way to crochet. I love crochet, but I had a hard time following the instructions until I found you.

Amazing! So many lucky recipients! And thank you for sharing that advice 😂 Love it! ❤️
bahaha good advice
🥰😂😂😂
@Nancy Miller
🤣🤣🤣 you're awesome.
This is a great pattern and the explaination is easy to follow for someone with no experience with crochet. I loved it.
I crochet hats for various nonprofit organizations. This would be a great quick hat to make for them.
That's a great idea! And they're so easy to customize if you want to experiment with different colors and accessories 😊
Two weeks of trial and error for my first crochet project... but I have a beanie that I'm happy to wear. Thank you very much for your lessons!!! On to beanie number two. :)
Thank you for your easy instructions to follow, and I also like the fact that you tell how stitches are in each round!
It's two days before Christmas. Yup, those first 10 seconds of this video got me.
May God Bless your little man
I finished mine with a backward sc stitch and I really liked the finished look. Thanks for suggesting a finished look of our choice. 👍❤
What is a backwards sc?
@stacygreen7001 it's also known as the crab stitch.
You are the best teacher especially for beginners. Any time I want to learn I go straight to your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your time and expertise with us 💕💕
Aww he’s adorable with his curly wurly hair. And I do love your fast beanie hat.
Great tutorial! I just made my first hat! I added a couple of rows, but it was so easy and really cute!

I loved your tutorial. You make it possible for us beginners to do it. Thank YOU.
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you were able to make one! Let me know if you ever have pattern requests. I've been looking for ideas to create very beginner-friendly patterns ❤️
Anything I make for my friends is not “basic” to them. Haha they go crazy over my work! Great tutorial!
That's awesome! It's so good to have friends like that. ❤️
Including your design for beanies I'll try to sell to Christmas shoppers at local farmers market; first one will match a scarf (will give you credit on items' tags). I made this & it is beautiful. Your instructions were very awesome,,,easy to follow. Thanks MUCH!

I crocheted the base of my trapper using this tutorial! Thanks a million!!!
Easiest tutorial in the world! I’ve been trying to do panel beanies but they take soooo long 😭 this blessed my lazy crocheter hands!!😂
I love this!!!! I’ve also seen this hat with a simple crocheted flower and sewn on to the hat with the tapestry needle. It dressed it right up!!!
Yes! That's a great idea that I forgot to add. I love when you can make simple things look just as beautiful ❤️
My 8 year old grandson has Corvid and wants a cap in Orange in Blue and Orange. I believe I can do this and have it in the mail by Monday! Thank you
That's so sweet. I hope he feels better soon!
Thank you so much for this wonderfully simple pattern. I had a chunky yarn I wanted to use up making a hat. I tried another video and it was so very complicated. Luckily. I found your tutorial and it was so easy.
Going to make this beanie...or beanies...as gifts for next fall/winter!
Thank you this video is so helpful. I'm try this after I get off from work tomorrow
The crab stitch or reverse single crochet is also a beautiful way to finish a hat.
Can I use a magic circle instead.
Hello from Georgia. Just found you. So excited to make this hat; thank you.

She is beautiful. I love your little hat pattern. Going to try it for sure. Thank you for sharing. Glenda
Love this project. Just learning crocheting and wanted to have an actual project to that is in my ability. This hits the spot beautifully. I also love the pattern notations given as I know that if I am going to be able to make something more complicated I will need to be able to use a pattern. 😃

You!
I'm so happy I've been able to help! ❤️
This hat works up nicely. Loving the little handsome boss baby making an unannounced appearance.🥰
It's my 1st time crocheting but I'm sure it would be bad but I think this video is really good even though I failed
Hi Sigoni, wonderful video. Made my first hat in 30 mins flat and it looks amazing!

Nice beanie love it! I love basic beanies! Yes he is handsome! Thanks for the tutorial! 💕💕
I made the hat! I was surprised! It turned out great, however I do believe it needed to be a little longer for me it’s smaller than I thought! But awesome thanks so much
I can't wait to make a hat! Thinking of making them for my family!
Wonderful teacher❤, thanks! And baby is adorable
Ooh...such a cutie! I can sure see the resemblance. Thanks for the gift idea.
You're welcome! And thank you! ❤️
Excellent video for showing how to do this. So helpful for a beginner. Thank you!
You're so welcome!
Great video. I have never made a hat but you really explained it well. I think I can do this! Thank you!
your little boy is soooooooo cute!😍
Thank you for this tutorial! I'm not sure if I understood why you made the beginning db crochet in the base of the chain on the first few rows but changed to skipping the base and db crocheting in the first stitch from the preceding row.
❤ Thank you so much for this tutorial. Ive crocheted Christmas gifts but not hats. Want to do some for donations.
Super fast But......my hat only fits a baby doll....I followed your pattern.
What size yarn did you use? If you use smaller yarn than the tutorial it’ll make it smaller. She used weight 6 yarn. If you use any smaller your hat will end up smaller.
Or you crochet tight like me and need to use a larger hook.
Can u use 4 ply weight?
What I learn by crocheting sometimes you can be pulling the stitches too tight. I had to learn not to be so tight with my stitches that means relaxing your hand and relaxing the yarn and let it flow
Maybe yarn weight or hook size. Good Luck
Aloha from kauai very nice going try this and will send photo when done Aloha 😊
Thanks was my first attempt and pretty proud of it- you’re a great instructor
20minssss, it took me 3 hours 😅 it is the first hat Iv ever made tho and I’m just happy I could make it so thanks !
Very good tutorial. You made it super easy. Want more patterns
My therapeutic time to relaxed me😊😘✌🏽
Thank you for this vid and your child is beautiful
I just started crocheting and this helped me a lot thank you!
Awesome video. The baby is wayyy cuter than the hat! I was looking for something simple to go with my Eagles scarves.I may just do a quick ribbed brim to gussy it up! Thank you so much 💓
I love your tutorial. Its really simple and beautiful. Thats what I like. I'm new at this ❤❤❤ thank you very much ❤❤❤
