    • @legitimatejones
      @legitimatejones 2 года назад

      @PRIVATE so am guessing the 12k very even lower to $5,999 because then realized it wasn’t punching near it’s weight class … what Armando’s video with epic light media ( c500 vs R5 vs BMD 12k ) then give your opinion ….. am actually honestly waiting to hear what your opinion is … now please don’t respond without watching cuz then It’ll show you are being disingenuous and then no point to you even responding . Because while the bmd 6K is phenomenal I think it ain’t touching the c500 mk II or the c700 .

    • @legitimatejones
      @legitimatejones 2 года назад

      @PRIVATE lol some logic huh?? Everything you stated about the reason for the price drop is totally opposite what the manufacturers stated. They said, and I quote “ This price reduction has been made possible by efficiencies in manufacturing combined with an improved supply of 12K sensors.” Now am not saying anyone is lying 🤥 but it just doesn’t make any sense to me. Even your logic makes more sense than what they said but hey…
      Now am not gonna get into bashing camera’s or trying to go at you so I’ll say this ..
      I think we can both agree that, when we buy a cameras, the camera body doesn’t matter, what we are paying for is the Data / information that these sensors are able to capture I.e ( how far we can push/pull these data’s in post production before they break ) now that being said, and as someone who currently owns Arri Alexa mini , BMPCC 6K, Red Helius 8k , canon c500 mk II and RED monstro … the bmd 6K pro is a phenomenal camera and I said that earlier in my first comment to u, beautiful images, even straight outta camera and to work with. Ergonomics / menu system is impeccable it even pulls its own weight against most cameras out there but when it comes to the post or amount of Data in post production am able to pull, it’s not better than these cameras I listed and again let me be clear I don’t even believe one camera is better than the other if I am truly honest with you because at the end of the day lighting is more important but I still think we can have these conversations without taking things personal or insult each other .
      To even go further , bmpcc 6K is great but it isn’t better than the BMD ursa mini G2 and there are tons of projects to prove that … now let’s remember I said earlier I don’t even believe in one camera is better but for people to light their scenes period … as for cameras being too sharp I’ll say probably the ones that you’ve used are too sharp … the higher end theirs are not …that being said I think we can all coexist peacefully as film-makers and make a living which is the most important thing. 😎 have a nice day.

    About the battery (I have the regular 6k) : I mounted a smallrig adapter for sony np750 batteries to the cage, with a dummy battery inside the camera. It does become more messy, but you can still use it on a gimbal and the battery life is much more reliable + an hour of constant use probably.
    Also, I use an SSD but never experienced any issues with that.

    If Blackmagic ever gets their ergonomics and battery life figured out, I'd definitely consider switching back to them (although I have all E mount lenses now so probably I'm Sony for life now). But I am currently on the Sony FX3 because it's just a better camera for run and gun shooting and working quickly. But there is something appealing about the Blackmagic cameras. Just a quality to the image I've always liked. And Braw and ProRes are wonderful formats.

    Great video, I have the 6k, actually 2 of them, and 2 4k camera's. The disadvantages are easily fixed in my opinion. The ease of use with BRAW far outweighs the drawbacks. I have a ZCam E2S6 6k that is also great affordable, not cheap, cinema camera. The ability to edit 6K RAW on a laptop in Davinci Resolve can't be beat. Especially considering that the color grading is far superior in Resolve than in Premiere and FCP. All camera's have pros and cons so there is no true perfect camera. The better question is what camera is right for you and your workflow. Of all the years I have been in the business I have never had someone ask me what resolution or what camera I used. Also I have never used a DSLR to shoot any video, I've seen other videographers struggle to get people to stop posing thinking they taking pictures instead of video. Great content Love the Episodes, keep creating and thank you for the info

    One quick note about SSD and cables: Tilta among others have perfect length USB C cables that remove the clunk and also lock to the cage and SSD removing that layer of worry as well. Have backups on set and you are still far cheaper than Cfast while mitigating risk. Great, honest review! Tilta also makes a EVF relocate cable for shoulder rig use with the EVF. Edit: My biggest complaint with BMD is why oh why did they put a USB 3.1 Gen 1 and not Gen 2 port in this camera!!!!

      *Yes with 1To Cfast you could buy like 3 to 4 1To T5 ssds,* that you can dirreclty plug into your pc and can also work as working drive... So having 1 or 2 spares is still cheaper than having 1 Cfast 🙄

    • @CNC-Time-Lapse

    Hey, thank you for the great review. I've been filmmaking for 4 months with the BMPCC 6k and I can safely say is probably the only camera under 3000 USD you can use to create a perfect film look, practically as high-end as you want (in postproduction). I agree with you on almost everything. What I must comment, as a sort of clarifications:
    - Adaptative compression in RAW, Q5, allows you to save a LOT of space for shots in the same location. A normal SD card can give you 30minutes in 6k sometimes.
    - If you prepare your SSD rig carefully, it is safe enough and not too problematic. Even with a stabilizer as Ronin DJI, Zhiyun Weebill, etc (although it is true what you say, less comfortable).
    - I would say this is a dream camera if you plan to work with connection to the AC grid (no need for batteries) because the battery will be always a BIG concern with BMPCC 6k (or pro).
    I haven't had problems with the aliasing yet; thank you very much for mentioning it! Now I can be aware of that if the moment comes to solve that kind of issue.

    Can you clarify why you like the viewfinder? My style is very much the same as Andy's, much prefer not having a rig, so was wondering if the reason was improving run and gun. My favorite lenses don't have OIS which has made the BMPCC 4k a hassle sometimes.

    Thanks for the review guys :). But, I'm seriously curious about your take on the EVA 1 after using it all these years. In my experience, I found it to be a very difficult camera to work with, and very noisy as well, I would love to know your inputs on this. Cheers guys from a life long fan.

    • @Andyax
      @Andyax  2 года назад +2

      Hi Med! Have you tried turning on the internal noise reduction? And I recommend you to overexpose a bit when shooting in v-log, to avoid noise and get a better looking image. You are able to recover a lot of the highlights in post. And do you shoot in H.265? I think that works great. What else do you think is difficult with it? :)

    • @mransi
      @mransi 2 года назад +2

      @@Andyax Thank you Andy for your reply. Yes, I do shoot in HEVC, and I tired the NR settings, the Smooth option is good but it does render the image very soft, NR2 is okey. I found that even if the image is very noisy at high ISOs it retain a lot of details and it is perfect for a post production noise reduction workflow, which is not something I am used to. I tried to ETTR, the image is definitely less noisy, it is hard in lowlight situation to ETTR in a Run&gun situation. Properly color correcting the footage definitely reduces the noise, but you have to nail the perfect exposure to keep the great DR that EVA has. I'm coming from the Canon C-line cameras and these cameras just "work", I find some aspects of operating the EVA a bit frustrating, like changing frame rate, changing ISO & WB, the internal ND filters are not enough, changing Audio settings (u have to go to menu, no external buttons), LCD is not good outdoors and you need another screen on top, and the lack of a proper internal NR algorithms... In my eyes, everything in the EVA 1 screams controlled shooting not Run&Gun and quick turnaround projects which is mostly what I do. But when everything works, the image is very very beautiful. All of these points may be coming from the lack of experience I have with the EVA 1, so hearing from someone else's experience is always important, I'm sure most of these drawbacks are a matter of learning and practicing. Sorry for this long comment and thanks for your time, Andy.

    • @Andyax
      @Andyax  2 года назад +2

      @@mransi Thanks for sharing this Med! I don't think you are the only one who have this opinions. And I understand that you might look at many of the things EVA1 has as a downgrade when coming from the Canon C-line! They produce very clean images and solve many of things you write. I think I'm just so used to the EVA1 that I don't think too much about the "downsides". I like that it is very light weighted, the battery last for ages and it produce great images. And I think the audio settings are easy to understand and operate and the ND filters are strong enough, hehe :)

    • @mransi
      @mransi 2 года назад +1

      @@Andyax They are strong enough, but not for the Moroccan sun 😂. Thank you so much for this conversation, as u said when u get used to the Camera you overcome many of these issues, as a matter of fact I did way more testing this two days and I'm starting to get the hang of it. In conclusion, two things are for sure, the image of the EVA 1 is gorgeous and you are awesome.

    I hate when people label this camera as a B cam when they have a loyal bias to other brands. This camera can shoot raw that rivals Alexa cameras. The footage only falls apart when you’re trying to massively stylize the image in your grade. But if you light your scenes with that in mind the footage is absolutely beautiful and can be matched to cameras in the 10k and up range!?! This isn’t a B camera, it’s a powerful tool that can be whatever you want it to be. For someone with a GH5 upgrading... this isn’t a B camera. For someone with a first generation Ursa 4K, this isn’t a B camera; shooting 6k BRAW with massive uncompressed 10 Bit. It’s all about the shooter and the knowledge he has with the tool he’s using. This Camera is a A cam, B cam, and a C cam. Hell, any Red camera can be a B camera as well. I just think that the B camera labels detract away from the amazing features and possibilities this camera brings to the industry.

      You show your newbie status with a comment like this. YOU might think it is an amazing camera but when you have had access to whatever you want, this camera is nothing special and is actually a nuisance. Talk to an experienced DP in LA for example. They might think it is a nifty little cam and might even own one personally. However, they would never use it as an A cam on an expensive project. Arri isnt just the A cam because it has amazing images (which it does). It is also the workflow, reliability, trusted name, industry standard accessories (BNC, for example which the 6k Pro doesnt have), etc. How can this be a pro camera when it uses HDMI for monitor out? Do you know how terrible of an idea HDMI is for monitors on a real set? Those things twist easy and can be pulled out or ripped out and ruin the jack so you are SOL.

    • @anttiheik

      I leave one on all the time just in case. I had pretty bad IR pollution a few times before getting the Hoya IR Cut filter but I can't really say when it does and does not occur, seems quite random to me so better play it safe. It is worth noting though that IR cut filters will cause a green/cyan vignette with focal lenghts wider than 60 degrees, or 23mm on the P6K sensor.
