About the battery (I have the regular 6k) : I mounted a smallrig adapter for sony np750 batteries to the cage, with a dummy battery inside the camera. It does become more messy, but you can still use it on a gimbal and the battery life is much more reliable + an hour of constant use probably. Also, I use an SSD but never experienced any issues with that.

This is an awesome review. Really in depth, weighing both pros and cons. One pro that wasn't mentioned, you can edit from the SSD. I shoot with the 4k and I edit off the SSD all the time. Also never once had a problem with the ssd, so I'd be interested to hear more. I've shot for over two years in all scenarios with the 4k and never a problem.
speaking of interviews with stripes.......I still remember shooting interviews on the canon 600d/t3i..........the moire and aliasing was a pain. in comparison the 6k pro looks pretty good, I don't think most people would notice it (I barely noticed when watching in 1080p, wonder if you could just blur the shirt a little in post to cut down on the moire)

I shoot everything with BRAW 6K Q5 these days. Its amazingly good. Takes less space than all the prores, except 1080. I am completely in love with BRAW and davinci resolve. Love the colors and how light and fast it is to work with. The camera a bit "clunky" and the battery life is a bit of a hazzle. Maybe they should try the RED form factor.
Resolve is dope, I will admit. But BM will not listen to their customer base on the form factor. They care more about doing whatever sounds good in their head then paying attention to the people giving them money. I dont like their cameras tbh
I love the 6K pro. I use the NP 570 batteries, which are recommended. They last about 50 - 60 minutes using in plus C°. I have the Angelbird CFast cards, they are fast as hell and relyable. In interview situations I always use DC power. If I need two phantom powerded mics on this cam, the second needs battery power, wich is a small downside. Also miss the moiree filter sometimes. But all in all an amazing cam for the price.
I really like the honesty put into the video with all three of you giving your opinions. I've just bought my first Blackmagic Pocket 4K and I'm in love with it! 😊✌
Personally I like the extra grip & weight the battery grip offers. I mostly shoot off tripod though, and handheld when I can't. I'm not sure how it affects gimbal set-ups. Enjoyed the video guys - thanks!
Great review! I think it’s an awesome camera, especially for the money it has some many professional features. I’ve used it on many pro shoots and it holds its own against bigger cams easily.
I have the AB Titon and I love running with it. Having that flat base on my left hand just feels great, It also tells me how much time I've got left.So that was my solution . Love your video, having different opinions just makes it real!
I am just starting out with new cameras. I worked in television news years ago in producing & editing news stories & doing the voiceover. But honestly, I was looking at a camera that was below $400. I can still enjoy your videos & classes.
The Blackmagic 6K Pro is an awesome camera for the best price in the market. If there is a better solution for batterie life, auto-focus, stabilization and 4K 120 fps, the camera will be even for 2 times the price one of the big winners in the industry.
I think this camera is for people doing broadcast type videos with the ATEM MINI switchers who occasionally want to do some cinematography. Great video, thanks. I will be purchasing the G2 in the near future.
I’m still very happy with the duo GH4 and GH5 (with the Nokton 10.5 and 25mm f0.95) and waiting for the GH6. But of course everything depends on which kind of video/Film you want/need to produce.
i first saw your video about gh4+sigma18-35 6years ago and it led me to buy those combination. now im considering to buy bmpcc6k pro and watching this video. thanks for always making good review and tutorial!
you scored! camera is a beast. they can use a npf- battery plate w/ a npf-750 attached to the cage near the cold shoe slot and run this camera for 3hrs with a lower profile than a handle.
@@bmefilms6879 was a crazy good deal for the combo ! all cash, no taxes :) I actually use a DC power pack and connect it to the DC power outlet on the 6K lasts about 3 hours as well ! I just put the power pack in my pocket, works great @
We STILL use the 4k because of the better mount. It's crazy to have almost disposable cameras to take in the field and leave a "good" camera in the studio. Love 'em.
What's interesting is that I contacted Blackmagic because I was interested in buying one of the Pocket Cinema cameras, but was worried about aliasing issues. The technician told me that their cameras had no such issues with their cameras, which I knew to be incorrect. I wasn't happy with their arrogant response, so I went with Panasonic
BM is arrogant. If you look at old videos, you can find Grant Petty insulting customers as ":trolls" because they reported his old Ursa cam had a black sun issue. He is an old fool who doesnt admit mistakes. Reminds me of Jim Jannard from Red back in the day.
Thanks for the review guys. I love my 4k, but have been thinking of picking up the 6k pro, but the damn battery life! Those v-mount batteries destroy my back lol. ha det from the states 🇺🇸

I hate when people label this camera as a B cam when they have a loyal bias to other brands. This camera can shoot raw that rivals Alexa cameras. The footage only falls apart when you’re trying to massively stylize the image in your grade. But if you light your scenes with that in mind the footage is absolutely beautiful and can be matched to cameras in the 10k and up range!?! This isn’t a B camera, it’s a powerful tool that can be whatever you want it to be. For someone with a GH5 upgrading... this isn’t a B camera. For someone with a first generation Ursa 4K, this isn’t a B camera; shooting 6k BRAW with massive uncompressed 10 Bit. It’s all about the shooter and the knowledge he has with the tool he’s using. This Camera is a A cam, B cam, and a C cam. Hell, any Red camera can be a B camera as well. I just think that the B camera labels detract away from the amazing features and possibilities this camera brings to the industry.
You show your newbie status with a comment like this. YOU might think it is an amazing camera but when you have had access to whatever you want, this camera is nothing special and is actually a nuisance. Talk to an experienced DP in LA for example. They might think it is a nifty little cam and might even own one personally. However, they would never use it as an A cam on an expensive project. Arri isnt just the A cam because it has amazing images (which it does). It is also the workflow, reliability, trusted name, industry standard accessories (BNC, for example which the 6k Pro doesnt have), etc. How can this be a pro camera when it uses HDMI for monitor out? Do you know how terrible of an idea HDMI is for monitors on a real set? Those things twist easy and can be pulled out or ripped out and ruin the jack so you are SOL.
First of all congrats for your content. I love it. I bought a Portkeys Keygrip 9over 3 months ago and still haven't had the chance to even use it as it did not include any control cables. I have 2 systems, Panasonic and Canon, and both mirror and mirrorless, so I had to order cables from Portkeys for 4 cameras, plus the Nucleus nano for focus. In total, cables added up 180 € which is ridiculous. On top of that, everyy comes fry China, so will have to wait 1,2 or 3 week s or even a month to try this thing. Not happy.
I've been shooting for 40 years. Doesn't matter what cam you're using. Bad lighting and sound ruins your final product. AND, content is the key. I shot an infomercial on a SD 3/4 U-matic that had a terrific script that made 12million that year. I could take my used $700 HD Sony cam and make the same type of successful show if I had a great script.
is the guy in the middle interrupting the other two a bit, or is he just rude? They did a zoom in on the guy in the right to show his reaction to the interruption so it kinda played like a bit... but it doesn't feel like it by the tone of the rest
Great video. I currently have the BMPCC4K, and I love it. I've been thinking that I would pick up the BMPCC6K PRO to replace it. So, that's still a possibility. The one other camera that I would consider over it, would be the Sony FX3. But, that's only if I could afford it.
Can you clarify why you like the viewfinder? My style is very much the same as Andy's, much prefer not having a rig, so was wondering if the reason was improving run and gun. My favorite lenses don't have OIS which has made the BMPCC 4k a hassle sometimes.
IF I DIDN'T have MFT glass i would have gone for the 6k pro but all my glass is an MFT and Lumix so I went with the 4k i got a used one from B&H witch was brand new you could say with software for sub-1000 with tax. I love the RAW also I have the first-gen.
I’m considering making a professional movie next year. Kon-tiki style type of movie, but in current modern time, with an normal small/medium size boot. I need two camera’s, and i’m considering buying two BM6K camera’s for this movie. There are people who are saying no way, but there are people, including me that say yes, why not? If i’m comparing it to the Red camera the image quality isn’t that different, ofcourse the Red camera is better, obviously. It’s going to be my first ever movie, and it’s an budget, so i got to keep the budget low, very low. Can i get the cinema quality out of the BM6K? Would appreciate some advice!
The only thing which keeps me away from BlackMagic is the batterylife and how big the files get. When I want to use a BlackMagic camera. I need to buy much bigger storage drives and cards for it to even be able to store the videofiles from it.
Why? There are amazing lenses in the EF family that look absolutely beautiful. I’m a huge fan of Atlas lenses, which are EF, and I think they rival any lens in the RF family.
One issue I have run into is remotely controlling the camera and connecting an SSD. With a single USB-C I cannot connect my transmitter and SSD at the same time.
I would rather remove all card options and make sure the usb connector is up to date with the latest standards. hard drives are faster and you can edit directly from the source drive.
About the battery life, I'm pretty sure they are using cheap batteries, because mine get me almost one hour of battery life 😅To be honest it's the best camera at this price point, the only thing I don't like is this weird DSLR form factor because it's a pain to rig or to balance with a gimbal, otherwise this camera is a gem💎 (I also own a FX3 & FX6, and I much prefer the image coming from my Pocket 6k Pro). If you don't care about autofocus and ibis, it's the best camera at this price (it's even better than a lot of camera at +5k€)

My first go left me breathless. was laying in bed grading at 2 am (of course) and just stared at the image. just looked so gorgeous and just.. was just so pretty. such film like qualities ive not seen in a body this cheap. I can deal with the shortcomings for this image. Also MY biggest gripe is being locked out and not being able to use prorez or BRAW for certain settings. bummer but I can live with it. thanks for the review
A very honest and straight to the point review. You just forgot to mention the dynamic range is superb and likely better than the C300 in final footage results. thx guys
Ridiculous! Cined has already tested this and the 6k has 11.8 stops @ SNR=2. The C300 is 12.8 stops @ SNR = 2. Please stop spreading fake information.
Thx guys! I love the 3-way conversation and different opinions, different personalities, different uses. I love the fact that you’re not trying to sell me something! Keep up the great work!
What SSD are you using mate?

speaking of interviews with stripes.......I still remember shooting interviews on the canon 600d/t3i..........the moire and aliasing was a pain. in comparison the 6k pro looks pretty good, I don't think most people would notice it (I barely noticed when watching in 1080p, wonder if you could just blur the shirt a little in post to cut down on the moire)
Right for interviews you should always be able to plug in. Or just use a battery bank
I’ve used it on many pro shoots and it holds its own against bigger cams easily.
phenom video. love the personalities and commentary. appreciate this so much!
I have the AB Titon and I love running with it. Having that flat base on my left hand just feels great, It also tells me how much time I've got left.So that was my solution . Love your video, having different opinions just makes it real!
I've got the same batteries for my 6kpro and I love them. So compact and easy to travel with too.
Clear, honest and very focused info. I think I’m ready to try this camera. Thank u - your expertise is appreciated. Blessings
Would love to do a comparison between the Panasonic S1 and Blackmagic Pocket cinema 6K Pro.
Especially with the Panasonic S1 updates
I am just starting out with new cameras. I worked in television news years ago in producing & editing news stories & doing the voiceover. But honestly, I was looking at a camera that was below $400. I can still enjoy your videos & classes.
get an a6000
You guys are awesome. Refreshing to hear genuine input for a change.
Rawlite just made the internal OLPF and IR cut for the 6k pro
I’m still very happy with the duo GH4 and GH5 (with the Nokton 10.5 and 25mm f0.95) and waiting for the GH6. But of course everything depends on which kind of video/Film you want/need to produce.
We are too
i'm always impressed by this channel.
Thanks, love when I see you have a new video :) Love, of course to you-know-who, and thanks for some great information here. Thumbs up 👍
Finally a new Andyax video! Stå på gutta :)
i first saw your video about gh4+sigma18-35 6years ago and it led me to buy those combination. now im considering to buy bmpcc6k pro and watching this video. thanks for always making good review and tutorial!
Thanks for your comment Jay :) I hope the GH4 and Sigma has been working great for you!
I love my 6K Pro...it has it's issues but I bought mine open box for $2000 and a sigma 18-35mm for $390 :)
you scored! camera is a beast. they can use a npf- battery plate w/ a npf-750 attached to the cage near the cold shoe slot and run this camera for 3hrs with a lower profile than a handle.
@@bmefilms6879 was a crazy good deal for the combo ! all cash, no taxes :) I actually use a DC power pack and connect it to the DC power outlet on the 6K lasts about 3 hours as well ! I just put the power pack in my pocket, works great @
great deal
Damn! Where?
bro, he totally cut you off introducing matin in the beginning LOL . Cinematographers rock !
Thanks guys for the honest review, it helped me a lot for my decision!
No polar bears were hurt in the making of this video
Great honest video - Thank you as I just received mine last week!
Thanks for this neutral video with different oppinions! That was really nice and interesting.
deym sigma 18-35mm and 50-100mm f1.8 my go to lens. also i have 150-600mm sigma too. solid line up
you can flip your vmount upside down or put it on a 90 degree and have it vert so you can see the screen
Thanks for the review guys. I love my 4k, but have been thinking of picking up the 6k pro, but the damn battery life! Those v-mount batteries destroy my back lol. ha det from the states 🇺🇸
I own 3 I love them I also have a pocket cinema 4k With MFT lens. If you want a small Camera thats the one for you.
Love the b-roll of the camera
Oh shit, I remember you were filming in dslr 😂 was learning from you a lot :) thank you
This camera in a box body (like red komodo) I buy 10 of them... ;) Thanks for the video!
Your English is so good I forget that it's your 2nd or 3rd language. Great video. Id like if you guys reviewed the cx-350 panasonic video camera in all-intra mode (.265) and show humans more in your videos please (and sound....from the XLR out) Thank you!
Yeah I think they're just looking at it from a certain perspective being in the industry for a long time
Braw is 12 bit log, from 16 bit linear data
Those things twist easy and can be pulled out or ripped out and ruin the jack so you are SOL.
if you're doing something small, just use NPF batteries. We use it for all our shoots
Not happy.
Good review!
Now I would recommend their 6k gen 2 over the 6k pro for beginners as it has most of the same features but cheaper
But f.e. no NDs, so I am not sure if really cheaper in the end?...!
@@Excalibrr1 depends if you can live without built in ones, a lot of people can the 4K doesn’t have them
Z Cam is good alternative. I love my E2-M4.
Great information, thanks for the video.
Dude on the left shoots bomb ass images 👌🏼
I've been shooting for 40 years. Doesn't matter what cam you're using. Bad lighting and sound ruins your final product. AND, content is the key. I shot an infomercial on a SD 3/4 U-matic that had a terrific script that made 12million that year. I could take my used $700 HD Sony cam and make the same type of successful show if I had a great script.
is the guy in the middle interrupting the other two a bit, or is he just rude? They did a zoom in on the guy in the right to show his reaction to the interruption so it kinda played like a bit... but it doesn't feel like it by the tone of the rest
14:28 Clever dad joke right there :D
Battery life is great since it is powering camera and big screen and external battery is not a problem.
Great video. I currently have the BMPCC4K, and I love it. I've been thinking that I would pick up the BMPCC6K PRO to replace it. So, that's still a possibility. The one other camera that I would consider over it, would be the Sony FX3. But, that's only if I could afford it.
Great review !
Thanks for the video!
Great info! Thank you.
Do a video about the equipment you use in your Production Company with the prices.
It's a dope for me ! I've the tilta cage.
Entertaining video! I have tried to use the EVF but the eyecups are loose - already lost the biggest one🙁
What lens guys are u using?? I those shoot ? So clean ???
love your videos!
Can you clarify why you like the viewfinder? My style is very much the same as Andy's, much prefer not having a rig, so was wondering if the reason was improving run and gun. My favorite lenses don't have OIS which has made the BMPCC 4k a hassle sometimes.
I really enjoyed listening to you guys! I also have a BMPCC 6k. It is a huge improvement to what I was using before!
Greetings from Dubai!
wow, you are an interesting person! I lived in Dubai as a kid. pretty different now...
IF I DIDN'T have MFT glass i would have gone for the 6k pro but all my glass is an MFT and Lumix so I went with the 4k i got a used one from B&H witch was brand new you could say with software for sub-1000 with tax. I love the RAW also I have the first-gen.
Ahhh! love the intro😂
MANUAL FOCUS FTW !
I have a question how do you started with filmmaking? Sorry for my English I’m from Czech Republic 🇨🇿 thanks for feedback.🙏
Hi Maty! Maybe this video answers your question? :) ruclips.net/video/ty29XPih-Es/видео.html
@@Andyax thanks a lot man 🙏
Turned out great!!
It is a great camera for the money. Would have been awesome though if they had gone with RF-Mount for more options to adapt lenses.
I don't want to have to buy all new lens for mine that offer the same focal lengths I already have in EF.
@@davidlovephotog2 you don’t have to. RF to EF adapters are cheap and plentiful
I would rather remove all card options and make sure the usb connector is up to date with the latest standards. hard drives are faster and you can edit directly from the source drive.
storage devices are a consumable, they should not be presumed to work all the time. they have usage limits based on the number of write cycles.
What is the name of the chicken foot stabilizer used in this video?
I also really want to know this aha
About the battery life, I'm pretty sure they are using cheap batteries, because mine get me almost one hour of battery life 😅To be honest it's the best camera at this price point, the only thing I don't like is this weird DSLR form factor because it's a pain to rig or to balance with a gimbal, otherwise this camera is a gem💎 (I also own a FX3 & FX6, and I much prefer the image coming from my Pocket 6k Pro). If you don't care about autofocus and ibis, it's the best camera at this price (it's even better than a lot of camera at +5k€)
Great video. Thank you
Super helpfull 🙏 Can we use new rf lens with support of canon converter cons I'm planning to buy with canon camera i even deal with stills sometimes
Awesome video sir 👏. Sir does BMPCC 6k pro have similar video quality when compared to SONY A1 what are your thoughts 🤔💭.
I love bmd cameras but i truly need af and evf so i use my p4k very little. I truly hope that af can be made with their here new sensor
Very insightful! Can you list the parts on the rig? The top handle etc.
