Although I agree that the image from the Pocket 6k Pro is far superior, the FX3 is still a good camera. The new movie The Creator was shot completely on the FX3 shooting raw on an external recorder. Still, the latitude from the Pocket 6k is just on another level

2.5 years with the P4K and still going strong. Low light is no problem as I use f1.4 Zeiss Milvus superspeeds (plus speed booster if I need it) - you can pretty much shoot in the dark with no noise. The only thing I really wish for each day is more detail (P4K is a little soft!) I'm hoping BMD updates from the 6K Pro later this year with something with better HFR options, less rolling shutter and a more modular form factor. Probably dreaming, at worst, I'll get the 6K Pro °¬)
This cam does shoot stills. It shoots in dxf which is a raw format. I can't imagine, however, why they have a dedicated stills button so we can shoot stills...but there is no way to review the stills and there is no shutter sound. All we get is a tiny icon that pops up in the corner of the screen for a couple seconds. And yes, definitely get the pro if you're looking at this cam. I am kicking myself for trying to save a few bucks by going with the OG. The internal NDs is worth so much more than the cost difference.
I have one with a full-rig setup. I started to realize It was much more versatile stripped down to just the tilta cage. I used it today to film b-roll for a regional fox news segment. Stabilized lens, plus these nd filters, absolute money. I bought mine on launch and ive had zero issues. Buy a couple extra batteries! I shoot for a city fire department and i hang it from my climbing harness.
For the auto focus part - you can use the hack with the dji RS lidar if you also own a DJI Ronin 3 Pro combo you are good to go, expensive if not, but you have now got auto focus that works even in the dark and all cinema primes can be used with that system.

I agree with almost everything you said except for IBIS. I highly doubt that BlackMagic will implement that. The simple reason being that it creates a lot of problems when hard mounted. They already have a gyro inside the P6K and the P6K Pro that makes one heck of a great job when stabilizing in post! You can choose the level of stabilization you want after the fact, you just have to keep the crop in mind when you shoot! Nonetheless, this is an great video about a superbe camera!
No joke, I was thinking about getting this camera and looked up your videos on the 6K just LAST NIGHT... then saw this video come up today.... haha Maybe that's a sign? 🙏🏼🤔 haha Thanks for great content as usual. 🔥
For narrative cinematography, where u will always be working with plenty of light and a fully rigged camera, having 6k braw, built in NDs for 2500 is still uncontested value for money. Recently shot a short film on the 6K pro with Laowa Nanomorphs, best looking images I’ve ever gotten from any camera.
Before I switched to the Red Komodo I used to pair my 6k pro with the Tamron 24-70mm 2.8, and I never regretted it. Some of the best video images I believe my camera ever produced. 📽️
Hey Chris! Thoughts on the new full frame open gate, if you are upgrading from a 5 year old $400 potato Nikon camera to the new bmpcc cameras? I'm sure it wouldn't make sense for someone who already has a 6k pro. I want to know your thoughts for someone making this as their first upgrade. (I'm pretty commited to the blackmagic series whether I go 6k pro super 35 or the new full frame open gate. The main issue I might be concerned with to an extent, is the rolling shutter speed readout is around 20-25ms meaning jello may be an issue at highest res, but my understanding is the 6k pro is around this readout range as well in the higher resolutions. Thoughts on your experience and whether it became an issue for you as you got further into your career or whether I am over thinking it... Ideas or suggestions? I'm unconcerned with internal ND's given FX3, R5c and others I've considered don't either (variable nd filters on a matte box would be fine for me). Context, I am a motion designer/3d artist big into film and have friends and business partners that are filmmakers and cinematographers but they are mostly sony heavy and pretty biased for honest reasons! I just love the looks people are getting with the great joy 1.8x 5omm, and dream of that with 6:5 and opengate. I own my own independant studio that turned my 3d hobby into my main gig. Now I'm looking to start building the foundations for my next life goals/hobby involving merging my skills with cinematography. I have a fair understanding of the fundamental principles, gear and have friends to inform me on lensing and rigs. Hoping to start in the 2-5k range and have some extra to build some sort of basic rig I can use to start filming the small screenplays I've written so far! Some action might be involved but may not be here for a while.
Did you go ahead with either purchase? I'm at the same cross roads, coming from Lumix S5 ii x. Rolling shutter is my main concern, though I believe it can be significantly corrected in Resolve using gyro information.
Listen... I opened YTB cuz I wanted to search videos about this camera 📷. This is a beast that almost no one talks about on the internet. The brightness of the screen is the least talked about feature of the 6K Pro, but HOLY MOLY is it great to be able to film in bright conditions without a monitor.

Hello Chris, Thank you for making this great video! Is it true that this camera not able create backups of the 6k video recording? If that is true, this will probably not be good camera if you are planning on shooting pay project due to the lack of recording redundancy. How do you explain to your client that his footage has been corrupted due to a memory card issue?
You make a very good point! There are no redundancies for recording but the upside is you’re recording to an SSD which is much more reliable as a single source. So there’s a little bit of balance. But I MUCH rather record to dual outputs I would record externally to a Ninja V via the HDMI port
