    After rewatching the video now it's on RUclips, I think the 6k is the sharpest, not sure if this is because of something that happened in the render or I just called it wrong at the time I was doing the voice over.

    • @deadendboredom
      @deadendboredom Год назад +3

      I have personally conducted comprehensive tests and can corroborate your observation: at first glance, the 6K image appears sharper (yet simultaneously somewhat more digital), but as you zoom in and delve into the specifics, a direct comparison reveals that the 12K image exhibits significantly more discernible details, even though the image may appear slightly softer.

    The 4.6k for skin tones for me.

  • @deadendboredom
    @deadendboredom Год назад +5

    Impressive test, though I find the slow-motion comparison somewhat misleading. The 12K at 4K or 8K, 120 fps, maintains an uncropped and natural image; it's only at 240 fps that the image quality noticeably declines. By the way, on my URSA 12K, there's no noticeable fixed pattern noise. I would always prefer the 4K, 240 fps over the 2K, 120 fps of the 6K, and certainly the 120 fps of the 12K in any case.
    Interestingly, color variations, especially in blue tones, seem to be influenced by different resolutions - don't ask me why, but I've noticed this in a test video I've created. This distinction even exists in the regular recording mode without slow motion, when comparing 12K, 8K, and 4K.

    • @OBP_
      @OBP_  Год назад

      I did make a mistake on the slow-motion test, and I am looking back now. It was from a place of thinking the 12k would run away with it. My thinking was if I did them all at 120fps, then it would not show the 12k capability, and it would just be par with the older URSA. That backfired then, and i got FPN. What now, everyone tells me there is no FPN on the 12k. so I am not sure what happened at all. The biggest suprise to me was the color difference, I just had the idea in my head that they would all match really well. It was only my 3rd time using the 12k so next time I get my hands on it am going to run some more test and hopfuly get better results, because I love the images our of thay camera!

    Interesting. I'm leaning toward to the new BCC6K despite it's shortcomings (main ones being rolling shutter and lack of good high frame rate options!) I always thought the big step up for me would be the 12k but the Ursa 4.6k g2 is always whispering in the background!!

    dude, rigging the 6k is no different than any other camera.The ursa does not come with a vmount plate. you need to rig the ursas up. you need a top handle to hold it. I own the 12k, 6k pro and a 6k. I owned an fx3 and fx30. had to rig those up as well. With my 6k pro, I slap an npf battery plate on top and the.SSD in the small rig cage slot and I can run and gun for 5 hrs with 2 npf-750 batteries. My 6k pro fits on my RS3 pro, start and stop through bluetooth and I dont have a fuss.

  • @billyoung9538
    @billyoung9538 11 месяцев назад

    I find it odd that you think the 12k slow motion is unusable. Perhaps something isn't translating in youtube, because the only issue I'm seeing at 4k on my HDR screen is the color shift,a nd a lower contrast. the Point of focus is also slightly further forward on the 12k for some reasons, but the rim is is sharp and clean in all three. The 12k is also slightly more zoomed in than the others, and texture wise I think the other two are more interesting because they have additional water splatter on the inside of the jar, and in conjunction with less of a yellow color shift, it makes those more appealing compositions. They also finish faster due to their lower frame rate meaning they spend more time in the viewers eye. All the issue I have with the 12k are not deal breakers, as I think every thing I'm seeing is fixable, but again it's not an apples to apples test do to all the little differences. Anyhow, it's just my opinion.

    I am sure the 240fps on the 12k is sucky, but you should have showed the 8k 120, that would probably wipe the floor against the G2 or Pocket. Would have been nice if you lifted the shadows for the dynamic range test. Thanks for the comparison though. You are right, the ergonomics are way more important than the IQ alone.

    • @KaarloMedia
      @KaarloMedia 6 месяцев назад

      I'm in the middle of a camera purchase deliberation right now. There are many aspects you need to think about.
      Things to consider:
      - Ursa pro G2 has better I/O, and more professional ready to go body than PYXIS
      - Ursa has better dynamic range (check CineD charts), much better rolling shutter and better slow motion options
      - Sensor size difference - what kind of lenses do you have or plan to use? Most lenses fit PYXIS but not the Ursa so you need to prepare accordingly.
      - Weight, rigging
      - Additional accessories. Ursa, depending on the package, is ready to film. PYXIS needs a lot of accessories to get there. You might get an Ursa package used that is double the value of PYXIS in terms of usability.
      And right now Blackmagic has a -40% limited time price cut for the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K FF, which is insane value. If you only care for the box shape, go for PYXIS. If you care for value for money, buy the FF 6K now.

    It's pretty crazy to me that you gave the slow mo test to the 6K when the slow-mo test you set up was literally designed to compare each cameras slowest frame rate. You can't give it to the 6K when the 6K can't shoot at 240fps at all. If you wanted to compare the picture quality in slow motion then you should compare the lowest common denominator max frame rate each camera can shoot which would be 120fps. Then you'd be comparing a cropped 2.8K to full-sensor 4.6K to full-sensor at 8K.

    You had me at hello. What a pleasure in every way. Btw not totally sure why you have your camera above eyeline. Maybe to get the background. No big deal but interesting. Meanwhile couldn’t agree more about g2. Not really sure why you dont use an fx6 though? Maybe you do on the sly. Up against the 6k it doesn’t have as much detail maybe but a little sharpening and noone would know. The image is crisp and the blacks are black. I gave up on black magic because of the general weird ergonomic design and power issues with the pockets and lack of olpf and clean blacks. The g2 has always looked exceptionally great but maybe autofocus would help every so often. Of course there are work arounds and sometimes i find it slightly irritating that in the grade it is quite difficult to make the bm look real and unfilmic. I couldn’t get beyond its filmic look when sometimes it is nice to build up a look from a very neutral base. The reds are fantastic at that. The sony can look very “real” in a good way and that coupled with full frame and shallow dof and autofocus even, can create a very venice look which i think has replaced the filmic look in my film lexicon in terms of desirable looks. See lost girls or topgun maverick. Ironically though we have fx6s for rental i almost never use it as i prefer the Komodo feel when rigged and reds raw workflow. The image of all these cameras are great with the exception of issues around the blacks. Again im surprised you are not a canon user either. C70? Amazing image and raw. Appreciate if you like working on the shoulder then things get tricky but that’s why the Komodos versatility means its a go anywhere camera. All in all the g2 has a great image is designed to go in the shoulder and has an evf all great. But the screen is too small to be anything but a menu source and that means the camera get bigger than it already is out of the box. Agreed its an easyrig candidate but so many situations in doc especially where a low profile is everything means the ursa is a hump at best and a permissions magnet at worst. Meanwhile loving the content and delivery. Thx
