Great build-out! Love the detail you put into this video. (One thing I'd recommend is that if you're going to use a 21:9 aspect ratio for a video, go ahead and make your timeline & export that same ratio so that when someone with an ultrawide monitor can watch the video without black bars on the top, bottom, and sides.) Again, love the video, just my 2 cents on the export settings. 👍🏼
Thanks man! I actually export this way for a specific reason. The vast majority of my viewers are on mobile so I export the video in 2:1 to fill the screen as much as possible. I then add bars because on mobile, native 21:9 gets cut off on a lot of phones (like the iPhone). I’ve gone back and forth over whether to go native or bars, but settled on this for now. But anything not meant for YT is always native.
The weak link in a rig like can be the D-Tap splitter. If you're building one, make sure you get a good quality splitter. Everything receiving power from the V-mount depends on it and if the splitter dies, you'll be attaching individual batteries to everything again. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Ya got me clicking with that title! Almost second guessed my purchase... Nice rig, I'll probably have something like it with my 6KPro once Tilta comes out with some options for it. Coming from the 4K, I went with this because the ability to strip it down to the battery and grip and have EVERYTHING I need is great for certain gigs.
Yeah I’m liking the Pro a lot as a stripped down camera. The new features are great. I saw as Smallrig just released their cage so hopefully Tilta is soon.

xcellent video , really shows off the cinematic differences if we decide to step up , and the cost isnt insane it would appear for really improved game plan like this
Excellent job Matt! U just topped every other video in competition with this camera! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Wow, I'm really impressed by your footage. Amazingly shot and edited.
Loving this rig. Well done! I also went the “tall” route and am looking to go long. Thanks my friend.
I came here to look at your rig, but you also answered my question "does the canon lens stabilization works on bmpcc6k pro". I searched everywhere, but I didn't find the answer. So thank you a lot
I bought my BMPCC 6k also as a temporary video camera (while waiting for A7S3 or R5). And I wouldn't change it for any of them. I got my 6k for more than a year now, and it's not going anywhere. Amazing camera, although you need at least battery plate to fight the run time on internal one. I would get Basecamp some day ;).
I don't often comment, but this was a solid video...loved the pacing, tight shots/b-roll, everything. Nice job man.
Such an AWESOME rig! And an incredible video! Well done!
A fellow 6K and 24-105 shooter! We have very similar rigs. I may have to give that tilting battery plate a try!

Those are some smooth torches.
Excellent video. The follow focus you’re using addresses my biggest challenge with my 6K. Thank you!
Love how you've maintained the pocketability 😜
genius, thank you so much for this calm and genuine exploration of your rig much appreciated.
Thanks for watching!
I agree , I have a Z6 and want to build a rig around it , this has given me a great insight , not a shouty presenters calm collected in control
I first saw ur vid bout a year ago and To this day I haven’t seen a better rig than yours.
Nice video, Matt! I saw Caleb Pike's version of his "ultimate Pocket 4k rig" first, but this is also a very good showcase of creative problem-solving. Well done!
Excellent rig, but have you ever had a problem with plugging it all in the same battery? I saw some cases where the hdmi died because of it.
How do u transport the rig
The real question is what did you shoot this video on?
Pocket 6K for Aroll and Canon R6 for broll
@@mattgonzalez So beautiful my friend.
Do you have a video on how to put that rig together from the exact parts you’re using? I’m thinking of getting the BMPCC 6K Pro and love the setup you have. I’ve never put a rig together so having a video would be very helpful. Thanks.
That rig looks so cool! Love it! I hope some day i can buy at least a BMP4k
2024 and this is still the best rig I've cam across on youtube.
This was put together in excellence.

As a Tanzanian filmmaker, blackmagic is a very great Camera
Excellent setup, sir.
I might go for it, since I'm going for 6k Pro soon and need the rig, less for handheld, more for tripod, but this covers everything basically and with the detachable side handle with the focus, it's perfect!
That tiltable handle is dope.
Awesome video, great tips, might look at that follow focus unit! Your rig is fantastic!
Hey, fantastic vid. Wanted to ask -- with more than a year since you posted does it all still ring true, still you're go-to rig set-up? Any changes you'd make with a year more filming under you? Also, any sample footage from this rig that we could check out on your page?
Really dig your lighting!

How do you power the side handle?? Dummy battery that goes into the v mount splitter??? Or do you use a f970 sony battery? Great video, super useful!!!
Nice rig bro!! I love the blackmagic platform. I spent over$14K rigging my 4K out now I want the 6K pro. Thanks for sharing!!
Whoa! I'd love to know what you rig is made up of.
Man, I normally hate rig videos, but this was great. I love that solution to mount the Hollyland!
Can we just talk about those colours in your review? LOKS AMAAAZINNGGG. Do you sell it as LUT's?
Thanks a bunch! Totally going to use your links here soon... not sure when but soon.
Great video!
Matt baby, that is so killer. Do you have a list of the gear? And do you have footage of the 6k that comes out of all that?
do a video on the bmpcc 6k pro now and rig it up! IM WAITING!!
I would love to know exactly how you have attached the monitor that low down on the Tilta Cage as it only has three vertical holes at that point. Great video.
Don't worry I studied your video a little closer and noticed you'd attached a cold shoe to the 1/4”-20 hole and ignored the locating pins above and below.
This rig is sick! What was the total cost including the easy rig? Def want to setup something similar and use your links
Very informative video, now that I am looking to buy the 6KPro, I will follow your steps. Thanks!!
Great Rig but more importantly your video looks visually incredible

Do you have some videos you've made with this rig? I would love to see it in action! Great video!
One of the best rigs I've seen and love the look of your video. Great job man.
Loved the video brother and I see that Jon's story telling way of speaking and presenting has rubbed off on you too, hehe nice one!
Haha thanks!

Best review and awesome rig Matt!
BTW add a portkeys monitor BM5 IIIwr 5 inch or soon their 7 inch BM7Wr those let you do bluetooth camera control of almost all main functions
can you please throw a number in the room, so we get an idea at which price point we'll arrive currently? I would honestly get it exactly the way you build it, it fixes all the problems I had with other people's rigs. But, as always, the price, sadly, matters.
And one more question: how fast is the responsiveness of the tilta handle focus "button"? As in: is there a noticeable delay? Is there any?
I like your exposures, Matt.
I love your video; thanks for making it. I'm looking to rig out my cam. Question... You said the F4 lens is not good for low-light conditions. What camera lenses would you recommend for "Low Light" conditions? Thank you!
Love the video man. How are you using that hot shoe monitor mount when there's a 1/4 hole on the front of the tilta top handle? Really interested as I'm wanting to do the same as you man.
Love how tight this rig is! Hoping to get mine close!
I usually don't comment under this type of content but I'm glad I found your channel. I also really like how your room is lit. Nice content 👍

Okay. We have to know. What camera are you using for these reviews and how to hell do you get this clean look!?
The b roll feels like a baking series
Excellente description . Merci pour toutes ces informations
Hey Matt wow your camera rig is awesome bro, I'm still using my canon T7I in the future I'm looking forward to get blackmagic or Canon C300. That Ninja battery looks so good and Nano focus sweet man just sweet haha any filmakers knows what I'm talking about lol. Thank you for sharing Love the box filter nice!
Great video! Is this Tilta cage Tactical Grey or Tilta Grey in color? I'm trying to decide what I like better.
Hey Matt, love the rig. I'm near completion of mine. I'm curious how you avoid frying any of your ports? Thanks!
This is an extremely valuable video, really you have done an A+ job!
Super helpful info Matt! Love the clean look of this video too!
Sweet rig man! Quick question. I have the Nucleus M system, do you know if the side handle is comparable with the M motor? I don't need to power it but just control it. Benn looking everywhere unsuccessfully for an answer. Appreciate your help.
Very cool rig and explanation. Love this links. I think I'm leaning towards making this part of my setup.
Love the Look and Setup of your talking head part, what gear did you use for that?
That was shot with another bmpcc 6K and aptitude 300D. Bunch of other small lights too
Great rig! What is the overall cost of the rig once fully kitted out? Excluding the T5, Interested to know how the rig compares in Price to the 6K Pro. I do understand though that this rig actually has more functionality than the Pro with it having a follow focus rig and so on.
more than 4 thousand camera not included
About 1.7K check tilta with out the transmitter wireless
The depth of the aftermarket and consequent breadth of customization is really leading me to jump to the 6k.

I have a 6k Rig and love it! But I so bought the 6k Pro because having built in ND's is worth it to me. I'll toss that on a Glidecam and use it as a run and gun simple setup and use my 6k as my workhorse. Good content brotha! Keep it up
This vidéo is a great Lego GamePlay ! Perhaps you can also speed about price, even if that's just an approximate pricing. It help us understand what is affordable for us when we don't have so much money
Hi, Matt! Just bought some of the same stuff to rig mine out to be basically the same as yours. Thanks for the video! Quick question about mounting the D-Tap Splitter to the cheese plate? I bought the cheese plate for the splitter to attach to, but the screws aren't long enough to physically mount the splitter to it. Did you buy longer screws or did you do it another way? Just wondering how I should probably go about it. Thank you for any information!
Well thought out rig ! Good show.
Thanks a lot for the breakdown, I'm probably going to end up getting a BMPCC 6K Pro pretty soon. Still wavering between that and a Sony A7SIII possibly. Can I ask how you recorded audio for this video? You're coming in so clear but I don't even see a lav mic or anything.
Very nice, except can you use it in glidecam or gymbal? which ones?
Dear Mr. Gonzales, thanks for your video !!!
Love the video quality!! Are you filming with the 6k and using Aputure 300d lights?
Thanks! Atoll was shot with a 6K the broll was shot with a Canon R6. And there was a bunch of lights, but yeah the 300D was the key
@@mattgonzalez Thanks, keep up the great production quality, definitely subscribed!
Let's see how much longer Blackmagic can call them "Pocket" Cinema Cameras 😀
Awesome video. Great Camera. Thank you
Yo! you edited this video like a boss man!!!
This dude is like the Jay-Z of vlogging and I'm on youtube every day looking at reviews in such. I watched the whole video. Awesome work my dude. 👍
Great Rig that, really like your choices there nice work 👍🏼
Thanks so much for sharing this! How did you mount the monitor mount to the front of the Tilta handle? I’ve seen this several times and I can’t figure out how they do it with the cold shoe. Does it come off?
