This is great you guys!! I'd love to know what pushed you to the c300 over the c500. For me I find the noise in the shadows was a relatively large decision making element that pushed me to fall in love with the cleaner shadows of the c300. Did you feel you didn't need Full Frame as well?
My advice.... don't invest in too expensive cameras.. invest more in good storytelling ☝ a good story is always more fascinating for the viewer than a better image quality. This is the worst mistake video- and photo shooter's are doing these days....
I agree in "too expensive". You should think twice before buying something. Remember that expensive is relative. A film production company might look at a camera affordable while indie-filmmakers might look at the same camera as way too expensive. - Anders

In terms of image quality most cheaper mirrorless cameras look just as good and can tell a good story. C300 iii 16 stops of dynamic range is false according to cine-d testing, it's 12.8 stops at best.

Any tips on color matching Mavic footage with the C300? I use the Mavic Air 2 (which can still shoot their log format) and the canon C70 (same sensor as the C300)
I've been working on a long series of videos for years now for an online language learning program for kids, where we often integrate 2D characters into the scenes, and nothing we've done looks as well-integrated as this! Very impressive and cute!
I am debating whether to bring my C70 to the workshop in August, but I would be very interested in seeing how the C70 pairs up with the C300Mk III, I would think rather well as they both use the same sensor, but less shooting profiles with the C70 compared to the 300Mk III.
My Canon XHA 1 was terrible in low light. I used it for shooting news at night back in the day . Now I'm using Nikon Z 6. Was using the Sony A7S II but it cant take the rain . After an $800.00 repair I went to Nikon love their weather sealing .
C300MK3 is more like 13.9 stops. Check out CineD lab test. Don't believe manufacturers. Good choice for AF. But I would have chosen Ursa Mini Pro 12K or FX9 for better AF.

I find Canon colors are easy on the eyes , Idk why , I prefer them to Sony , even tho Sony can look good too if the person knows how to grade!!! But I have to add that there is nothing to write home about either when it comes to canon colors... I feel like it depends on the project , I have a project right now , that I just know that the Sony will be a better camera for the job than the canon , I am just not sure If my color grading skills are good enough to make it look like the Canon 🙈 😂. But deep down What I really want is to work with the Ursa, yes there is such a thing as Blackmagic colors, but this particular project will not have time for lighting , its really a gorilla filmmaking type of shoot, and the FX6 looks perfect for it , but 90% of what I see online from Sony footage i don’t like. So at the end I do agree , there is such a thing as Canon colors !!!!

@@BadKarma714 Red means you have to buy lots of accessories to get a workable setup. Still, Red has come a long way. They rival the Arri Alexa. Watch 'At Eternity's Gate' to see what Red looks like now. Of course, my new favorite is the Panavision Millennium dxl2. Rental only though...

Color science. And Canon's auto focus is the best. Panasonic's is...terrible. I would not trust it. Still, sometimes a focus puller is vital. If you have two actors sitting next to one another, and you don't move the frame, I think it would be impossible.

And also every camera has its own use and i think canons menu system is way easyer so if you buy a canon as your first camera you stay with canon (most of the time)

i think most of us know this. When you have that knowledge it's still okay to buy a great camera. These cameras exist for a reason :)
