IDK if the clips were all sound/video syncd but the drummer looks like hes just taking a stroll in the park. 32nd note double bass hits, smiles and all. Good shit.
That's awesome you got to interview these guys. I'll be seeing them for the 3rd time this Sunday in Winnipeg. Absolutely love Vesparia, wonderful group of guys. How come Casey wasn't in this?
Congrats to them. I saw them 2-3 years ago at a small gig in Orangeville, Ontario and they're definitely a sweet live band. For a small crowd in a town where the metal scene was nearly dead, they were awesome.
Been to a few of the those towns are in Northern Ontario. Good band name since it's cold as fuck up there during winter. That's awesome they held a Wacken battle of the band in Canada.
Hey Glen! Thanks for bringing in some guys who are out there doing what they love. It's cool to see that there are still guys who are able to preserve and kick ass. I was wondering if you can talk a bit about phase cancellation? For instance, how it can affect your mix and what you can do to avoid it? All the best from Louisville, KY!
I was there and i can approve the horrible weather i was still sick 3 weeks later and everything i brought was covered in mud ... the festival itself was great though!
More Videos like this please(if you have the time). Nice interview with Warren Huart the other day . Keep up the great work Glen channel is improving consistantly.
This is more a question for Smg viewer's comments, but I'll ask anyway: If a drummer (or guitarist/bassist for that matter) has a really clear vision on what sound he wants, do you usually just roll with it or do you always incorporate your own sound and ideas into it?
Hahahaha the drummer says, "Oh sorry, didn't mean to cut you off." Jesus, even Canadian *metal bands* are fucking super polite. Sure, I've met quite a few US and UK metal bands out on the road who were very nice, but for the most part, metal bands around Chicago tend to be brooding, sultry, & angry. BOOOOOOOOOR-iiiiiing. Hahaha. I agree with the geetarist's advice wholeheartedly: stay positive & have fun. Yes, the whole touring life has been romanticized in one form or another since the beginning of time, but with massive rockstardom which really took off in the 60's & continued throughout the 70's, and then add into that MTV and even MORE mass exposure of "rockstars," and it adds up to the point where even non-musicians want in on it. When one of my bands started touring heavily after signing wif Virgin in 2009, it seemed like all of our friends were willing to do the shittiest grunt work for free, just for the chance to come out on the road with us. And we even took a few of them out on short runs. The vast majority of them ended up hating it. As in *really* hating it: three of the five people we brought out that were just "friends," as in non-professionals with zero road experience, left the tours within a few days of starting them. It's really tough out there in general, but especially when yer touring at the level we were, which is to say a level similar to what the guys in Vesperia are doing. Although, since we had some major label "backing" (it was shit, really), we were able to afford a hotel room every night....one room for six or seven people. When yer spending six, eight, ten hours a day in a cramped, smelly van; not eating or sleeping properly; and everything starts to look the same, it's *REALLY* easy to fall into a negative state of mind. Then you start bickering wif bandmates, merch guys, roadies, etc. And little things you would have just shrugged off and laughed about when yer home become major ordeals. The worst part is, all the negativity seems to happen so gradually that you don't even notice it until it's *REALLY* bad...and a lot of the time, by then it's too late. So no matter what your level of touring is, just keep reminding yerself that you are actually living the dream, if only somewhat, and that it's *WAY* better than sitting in a office all day (even if you'd actually make money sitting in an office all day), and you get to travel; see different places, people, etc.; and do whatever the fuck you want (as long as you are completely pro in terms of the show, from top to bottom). One thing I did not hear from the band that was *always* a major help to us on the road: pot. Lots and lots of pot. ;)
Hey glenn if you are gonna record a band would you check out one of their live gigs (live or on the internet) before going into the studio to get a feel for their sound/style? Thanks.
Hey Glenn! I need your help with something; I've got a Steve Harris signature and want to use the strings that came with it (50, 75, 95 and 110 gauge flatwound), tuned E standard as Harris would, obviously. Only problem is, according to the guy at my local shop, it'd cause too much tension and the bass would get damaged... (the neck DID get bowed once I put them on, but the truss rod has been adjusted since, so it's completely straight now). Currently it's tuned down half a step. Do you think I should just use a capo, or try tuning it up to E?
Hey glenn, do you record music for other types and genres of music like punk, indie rock, alternative, acoustic, rock, if you dont do you ever pla to??
LOL Ragina, I have family that are currently spending 2 years there because they are working for the Australian Wheat Bored. My mum hate it when I refereed to the place as vagina. Hi from Australia by the way.
hey Glenn I've got 2 questions have you seen deathgasm? (on Netflix, amazing, watch it if you can) and since i play bass in one band , and lead guitar in another does raging egomaniac or dumber than a cum sock work for me
It fucking sucks being under 18. When bands that aren't massive enough to play in the major arenas and stadiums they always play in venues/bars that I can't get into yet :(
The music sounds good, but the name _Vesperia_? I mean, I know it can take a _Xillion_ to come of with a _Symphony_, and an _Eternity_ to come up with a band name, working through the _Tempest_ of already taken band names, and if you suddenly take a band name from a totally inactive band on Facebook with like 50 fans, then they suddenly want to have a _Rebirth_, but I hope you've got something other than a _Tale of Innocence_ when it comes to the less than _Graceful_ way in which you've named the _Legendary_ sounds you make out of the _Abyss_ of terrible bands these days. I'll probably get treated like a _Phantasm_ in the comment section by many of the viewers, but I want you all to know that I support you as long as your _Hearts_ are in the right place. Good luck defining your own _Destiny!_ P.S. Is Zesteria any good? I haven't played it yet.
You can just see the pure joy on their faces when they are on stage, that must've been one hell of an experience!
It was unreal!
IDK if the clips were all sound/video syncd but the drummer looks like hes just taking a stroll in the park. 32nd note double bass hits, smiles and all. Good shit.
Our drummer Dylan is fantastically talented - he makes it look so effortless!
That's awesome you got to interview these guys. I'll be seeing them for the 3rd time this Sunday in Winnipeg. Absolutely love Vesparia, wonderful group of guys. How come Casey wasn't in this?
Can't wait to play a full(er) set for you!
That rain must have been in tents.
Like, pitching a tent in foot deep mud x 80,000 people
Glenn should have a show like "That Metal Show"
he should be on that metal show
He used to do this week in metal
Hell yea Vesperia is my favourite Canadian band I always see them live when they come to North Bay! Ontario represent!
I remember that Wacken festival. It was utter chaos :D
They were beeging people to come a day later so the mud could dry a bit
But what a good time!
vesperiametal No doubt it was. I always like seeing band whos hard work pays of. Well done guys!
Congrats to them. I saw them 2-3 years ago at a small gig in Orangeville, Ontario and they're definitely a sweet live band. For a small crowd in a town where the metal scene was nearly dead, they were awesome.
Cheers!
Wow this is the earliest I've been to one of your videos.
I saw Vesperia with Kalmah in Montréal! They are amazing :D!
Cheers!!
Haha... Nice shirt Glenn... Red Deer Terrace and Medicine Hat.. running back to Saskatoon! Peavey equipment rocks!
Been to a few of the those towns are in Northern Ontario.
Good band name since it's cold as fuck up there during winter.
That's awesome they held a Wacken battle of the band in Canada.
GOOD LUCK GUYS !!! ...GREAT SHOW GLEN!
Cheers!
I saw Vesperia with Kalmah, Tribune and Atrous Leviathan @ Logan's Pub in Victoria, BC. Awesome show all round!
I'd love to see more band interviews on the channel. Gonna check this band out now.
Dude that little snip from the battle was sick! I didn't know these guys. I will surely check 'em out!
Hey Glen! Thanks for bringing in some guys who are out there doing what they love. It's cool to see that there are still guys who are able to preserve and kick ass. omg that guitarist has the horizon II by esp...i've been drooling over that guitar for two years
It's soooooo nice
+vesperiametal I bet, been trying to save up for it for a while now! Love the color, how are those pickups
I really like Glenn as an interview
Really enjoyed this Glenn! Band sounds super tight and technical which is awesome. \m/
Vesperia reminds me of a real life Dethklok. Headbanging, shredding, sick double bass. What more can anyone ask for? Release that album!
Pearl Vision? That's the beginner series kit. Kudos for using it on tour for playing metal!
Where's the link to the video?
they have their own RUclips channel (i think) ... I've watch their 2015 live at wacken
Glenn! You should do a checklist for live equipment, pedals and all the essential shit for a starting out gigging band!
Well done fellas. Good luck on the rest of the tour and hurry up and get home Morgan. I've got guitars to buy!
Loras Tyrell on the drums!
The Guitarist is awesome!
He's too good!
I was there and i can approve the horrible weather i was still sick 3 weeks later and everything i brought was covered in mud ... the festival itself was great though!
Such a fun time!
More Videos like this please(if you have the time). Nice interview with Warren Huart the other day . Keep up the great work Glen channel is improving consistantly.
Thank you for the information that's useful to beginners.
Saw these guys at Manitoba Metalfest a few months ago. They were fucking amazing
That story about walking onstage tired and adrenaline kicking is is all the proof you need that practice and rehearsal works.
you didnt put the footage link in the description ..
The band from lebanon is called 'Blaakyum"
Yes
Another band from lebanon will be there next year as well hopefully... so much buried talent under our ruins...
Hey Glenn, what do you think about the Canadian band being beaten out by a South African band this year? (Zombies Ate My Girlfriend - awesome band...)
i like dillion's shirt ^^
THE KING OF THE NORTH!
Damn good band. Thanks!

Morgan has a strong will to resist the laser pointer
IT'S TOO ALLURING!
Hey glenn if you are gonna record a band would you check out one of their live gigs (live or on the internet) before going into the studio to get a feel for their sound/style? Thanks.
we have been in that competition that year too xD
Dude, these guys fuckin rock
Hey Glenn! I need your help with something;

"I'm Glenn and i piss off bass players" XD
that mic you regularly use really does something for your voice, this video sounds nose-ey...
any thoughts on the peavey valveking II series?
Glenn probably has the gnarliest cankles.
Did I hear Kobra and the Lotus playing in the background towards the end of the vid?
Maybe bring some books on tour?
Where's the link for the full length battle of the bands video?
As rock fades from commercial relevance, will the guitar be able to endure at the center of popular music?
Hey look ... a bass player who plays great and doesn't cup the mic. Glenn must be right ... these guys kick ass
Well you can't really cup the mic while playing an instrument ....
Unless you put it onto a funnel lol
:D
+Lars Uelf don't underestimate the power of the one handed groove... (bass groove on one hand, cup on the other)
Is that that your old anamorphic lens? This looks... wider?
So who's wife was knocking on the door letting you guys know that time was up?
7:21 - 7:23 Canada in a nutshell.
The guitarist wailed in Vesperia.
Hey Glenn, how often should I change bass stings, I restring about every five months.
Hey glenn, do you record music for other types and genres of music like punk, indie rock, alternative, acoustic, rock, if you dont do you ever pla to??
Glenn , what are your thoughts on glam metal/rock genres ?
I know he loves Steel Panther, especially live, and they fit in that glam metal genre.
hi Glenn! what do you think of new Waves Tune Real-Time?
Did they get paid to do this video or did they do it for exposure?
Like everything we do, we do it for the love of it.
Re: coffee - get an Aeropress! Don't settle for instant!
Hey Glenn, can a very bassy tone of distorted guitar compare with bass + guitar. Is there anyway to not use bass ?
LOL Ragina, I have family that are currently spending 2 years there because they are working for the Australian Wheat Bored. My mum hate it when I refereed to the place as vagina.
Hi from Australia by the way.
Might anyone know what Lebanese band the drummer is referring to at 3:01 ?
I didn't realize Canada had that many towns
There's like... over a dozen of them!
hey Glenn I've got 2 questions have you seen deathgasm? (on Netflix, amazing, watch it if you can) and since i play bass in one band , and lead guitar in another does raging egomaniac or dumber than a cum sock work for me
where's the link for battle of the bands ?
Thats ridiculous! I haven't had to sleep in a van in 30 years in any band. I don't understand why these shows aren't putting them up in hotels.
where is Casey...?
It fucking sucks being under 18. When bands that aren't massive enough to play in the major arenas and stadiums they always play in venues/bars that I can't get into yet :(
Hey what's the song from the live clip?
The first clip anyways

This reminds me how much I miss Rebecca Dirks...
Dillon looks like one of junkie Calvin Klein models. Lol.
Oh ur the guitarist girl friend u must know a lot about music Put that on a shirt lol
the drummer is a game of thrones fan

I wonder if driving across Canadia(pronunciation?) is as terrible as driving across the US Midwest(so. much. flatland.)?
