I have to say this is the best character scene I’ve ever seen. Not a single word was spoken in 2:05 minutes and yet the dynamic between the brothers was so clear. Ubbe is the caring supportive older brother. ivar is the younger brother who wants to be seen as an equal in his brothers eyes. Sigurd and ivar aren’t fans of each other to put it mildly (Sigurd may be slightly scared of ivar). And while Sigurd threw his axe so it only hit ivar’s cup vs how ivar purposely threw his axe so that it would nick sigurd drawing blood shows just how ruthless ivar can potentially be . Hvitserk is the quick unpredictable middle child who enjoys fighting and is good at it. The characters facial expressions told most of the story within the scene. I don’t think I’ve seen a scene like this before. And again not one word was spoken in 2:05 minutes and yet the audience understood everything that was going on inside the characters heads. (Edit: well one word was spoken when Sigurd called hviterks name but that’s it)
I've only seen one other scene like this. That was in King Arthur with Clive Owen. The scene is back at Arthur's castle where his remaining Knights were celebrating their due freedom from years of service to Arthur. They were throwing knives and Tristan (Mads Mikkelsen) outdoes them all.
What Ivar can do shouldn't really surprise, he can't use his legs so all movement must come from the upperbody, same with his smithing. And concidering that he's lived this long, his hand-eye coordination and upperbodystrength is above normal, he trains his upperbody constantly whereas you average person trains their legs when moving. Can only imagine what Ivars grip would be like
Some historians say that ivar did have legs but he was either more then 7 feet tall and looked like he did not have bones or that he was double jointed and very flexible and skilled in fighting wich earned him his name
Ivar is well balanced at hunting, warrior and assassin even with his legs conditions. Is a rutheless leader. Thats why he is my favorite character. Ragnar will be proud.
Funny how when Sigurd throws the axe,he flips it just to knock the mug out of his hand - but Ivar sends it flying straight.... tells alot about each of them
Ubbe is really the son of Lothbrok who’ve they’ve given the a great arc. He’s a first son and a second son in one. Season 6 has really taken his story beyond anything prior in “Viking culture”, which was the whole point of Ragnar in season 1
One of my favorite scenes, but it is funny to think that growing up with Ivar they would have known he was just as skilled as they are. It's not exactly like he can sneak off and train privately.
His (ivars) agility/speed and reflexes are top-tier.. strong swift parrys and riposte. The fact he could maintain the bind as well as he does with no legs for extra strength (along with being completely stationary and not able to dodge either) is truly amazing. Dude is fierce with that sword!
Everyone kept saying imagine if ivar had heathy legs First of all, his disability was the reason why he turned out better He knew he somehow had to figure out a way to be equal to his brothers.
This is my favorite scene of the entire series So epic Imagine ivar had legs. He's wiser and has mad fighting techniques. But just imagine he had legs. He'd have been the Youngest and most fiercest of his brothers He suddenly became my favorite character after all his words. Man is just too full of wisdom😭😭
One of the best scenes. Surely if Ivar could use his legs he'd be the strongest viking warrior after Ragnar's death. Even stronger than Rollo and Bjorn
I mean without any leg work Ivar was able to match Hvisterk's swordsmanship. It takes a lot of exceptional skill to be that good at swordfighting without legs
tysswe1 yes the "annoying one" one only becuase hirst wanted to show a scene where we could see Ivars "ruthlessness". After seeing season 5 I feel as though Sigurd character could have much more back story and depth. His father wasn't home that much so he didn't really know him. His mother abandoned him when he was like 9 months old to look after ivar the new child. She also abandoned him to Harvard. He had to grow up without parents. He was probably the most independent. But nah let's kill him off because ivar is so much more cooler.
...yepp he is the way cooler charackter... and this show is at least a little bit bond to historical evidence so therefore we know shite about Sigurd Snake-in-the-eye but about Ivar, Ubbe and Hvitserk (Halfdan) - yeah lets fuck Sigurd in the eye. This is a Viking show godamnit - buhuhu no parents. My ass.
Sherine Robers Yes he is. Ivar is ridiculously gorgeous! And he is a spectacular actor. MichealHirst picked the right guy for IvarTheBoneless. He is the only reason I continue to watch this show without Ragnar. AlexHoghAndersen as IvarTheBoneless is one the best character acting I've seen in a long time. And it totally helps that he is easy on the eyes. He is my "Viking Bae." Lol
I think he sees weakness in Sigurd. I think they all do..but Ivar will be the one to ummm..."deal" with it. :D.. You can tell by their facial expressions that their is kinship between the others and Ivar..but Sigurd doesnt seem to be a part of that circle.
I wish Ivar had done somemore fighting like this in York or the final battle in England. Just look at how good he was sitting on that log and then we all know to watch out for him when he is on the ground. It would have been even more epic.

Had to come here and see this after watching the first several episodes of the Season 6 where Ivar got bitched around by Oleg.
If ivar could walk.. He could have raided paris all by himself hahaha
Ubbe is really the son of Lothbrok who’ve they’ve given the a great arc. He’s a first son and a second son in one. Season 6 has really taken his story beyond anything prior in “Viking culture”, which was the whole point of Ragnar in season 1
the number of times ivar is throwing axes after sigurd xD
One of my favorite scenes, but it is funny to think that growing up with Ivar they would have known he was just as skilled as they are. It's not exactly like he can sneak off and train privately.
His (ivars) agility/speed and reflexes are top-tier.. strong swift parrys and riposte.
The fact he could maintain the bind as well as he does with no legs for extra strength (along with being completely stationary and not able to dodge either) is truly amazing.
Dude is fierce with that sword!
1:49 Is it just me, or were his eyes glowing?
That's how his eyes are, I think it's a reflection of his cold heart, at least that's what I read
It's connected to his bone disorder.
Ivar reminds me of Ragnar in the opening scene in season 1. Each sons captures different elements of Ragnar.
It's a shame Ivar never used his archery skills (or swords skills) in battle when he was riding the chariot..
Everyone kept saying imagine if ivar had heathy legs
First of all, his disability was the reason why he turned out better
He knew he somehow had to figure out a way to be equal to his brothers.
U know U are screwed when going up against Vikings , when their cripples can kill you with sword, ax, and bow.
This is my favorite scene of the entire series
So epic
Imagine ivar had legs. He's wiser and has mad fighting techniques. But just imagine he had legs. He'd have been the Youngest and most fiercest of his brothers
He suddenly became my favorite character after all his words. Man is just too full of wisdom😭😭
Who else saw the foreshadowing of the future of Ivar and Hvitserk?
It was also the foreshadowing of Sigurd´s death :´)
From here on I would’ve been afraid of Ivar
Ragnar sons are great warriors just like him.
😂😂 Ivar y sigurd peleando por su Hermano Hvitserk ❤
Ivar just don't give a shit about hurting others just straight to savage 2:00
One of the best scenes. Surely if Ivar could use his legs he'd be the strongest viking warrior after Ragnar's death. Even stronger than Rollo and Bjorn
The GREAT Ivar! 🔥
I mean without any leg work Ivar was able to match Hvisterk's swordsmanship. It takes a lot of exceptional skill to be that good at swordfighting without legs
This is when I knew ivar was a problem.. imagine if he had legs … he’s already dangerous… but he’d be lethal asf if he was never a cripple
I like sigurd, he is the most empatic character he was the onlyone that cared about bjorn 's daughter i can understand why he hates ivar and aslaug
Hes the annoying little shit one.
tysswe1 yes the "annoying one" one only becuase hirst wanted to show a scene where we could see Ivars "ruthlessness".
My ass.
Sirjen Kochhar I think the problem was the actor
cristian vega Sigurd hated everyone, even his father. He was the real psycho of the family
If the Gods would’ve given Ivar legs the Gods would’ve had to ask Ivar for permission to enter Valhalla
I think Ivar became a goat because he was a cripple
Vikings Series Ivar is the most good looking out of the rest of his brothers
Sherine Robers Yes he is. Ivar is ridiculously gorgeous! And he is a spectacular actor. MichealHirst picked the right guy for IvarTheBoneless. He is the only reason I continue to watch this show without Ragnar. AlexHoghAndersen as IvarTheBoneless is one the best character acting I've seen in a long time. And it totally helps that he is easy on the eyes. He is my "Viking Bae." Lol
Trisha Hunter it doesn't mean his character is good. He's probably the most hypocritical and egotistical person I've ever watched.
Sara Anbarestani mind your own! I'm not freaking blind! He is gorgeous!!! "Fact!"
Sir John yes, he is a combination of things. Love him or hate him, he is a spectacular actor!
Seriously.. I don't even watch this show and yet I clicked on the video bc he looked gorgeous in the thumbnail lmao
I'm shure Ivar is gone kill one of his brothers one day or another
I think it would be sigurd
I think he sees weakness in Sigurd. I think they all do..but Ivar will be the one to ummm..."deal" with it. :D.. You can tell by their facial expressions that their is kinship between the others and Ivar..but Sigurd doesnt seem to be a part of that circle.
yes for sure , the actor 's face represents very well the personnality of ivar I think
Sigurd :D
And here we go Ithought they ould wait until the next season but no
This scene was lit. This and the fist fight between Rollo and Bjørn Ironside, now that was testosterone gold.
I wish Ivar had done somemore fighting like this in York or the final battle in England. Just look at how good he was sitting on that log and then we all know to watch out for him when he is on the ground. It would have been even more epic.
I always wanted a brother I have two sisters and they are my family but I always wanted a brother to stand tall next to me and have my back no matter what!
I have 4 brothers, I actually would have like to had at least 1 sister so she could understand me as a female
Translation: "Keep fucking with me....."
His sons are great fighters.
