    Let's admit here, the only people that sees jello and all the camera tech talk ... is camera people like us. Just like our pixel peakings can make us say about sharpness not being up to par when the reality is we see things as we see NOT 800x the zoom. In the real world, no average person could care less when you take the technical aspects away. Do you really give your camera the baby shakes when you in the field doing any video work? No. When you whip pan, is it REALLY THAT bad? No. How often are you baby shake whipping? Not really every single time. Also, this is a hybrid camera that's still leaned to photos, but it has greatly awesome video specs. The camera actually pixel bins pretty well for a hybrid and for high 61mp... a tiny little 1.2 crop is not really gonna hurt anybody. To simply "Deal with the change of focal length"... just back up some or simply use zoom lens. You're a cine guy right? Put a Sigma 17-50mm on it or something lol you know this lol. I'm not shading brother just chattin it up but i think you are being a touch rough on it man. It's a Pro-sumer camera not a camera made by Paramount Pictures. If you're using crop on a full frame, your full frame lens will deter that problem and at 1.2 crop, that only brings your lens to a whopping 48mm my guy, take 1 step backwards there's your difference lol. You being rough!

      You have a lot of fair points, and like I said in the video and in the title, I actually like the camera, there's a lot of things I like about it, that just wasn't the topic of this video.
      It's also not 61mp or a 1.2x crop. It's 33mp and 1.5x, this is the a7IV, not the a7RIV.
      I agree with you that most people won't notice or care about most of this stuff, but I was being intentionally nitpicky in this. If you want a more balance overview, I've made several videos about it in the past

    One thing that no one talks about with poor rolling shutter, is how it can create/exaggerate wobbles around the edge when combined with IBIS even with minimal movement. It’s not always just about swinging the camera back and forth as fast as you can. If it were just a bit of leaning during pans, I don’t think I’d care as much, but those wobbles can ruin shots and it drives me crazy.
    But beyond that, you pretty much nailed all the reasons that I can’t stand using the a7iv - especially in a professional setting.

      That's fair, I've never actually noticed the wobbles on the a7IV. I know that kind of this was bad on the Canon R5 and a few other cameras, though.
      It works fine for me as a tripod/talking head camera though. If I'm ever shooting handheld, it's usually with the FX30, which has better, but still not great rolling shutter

    I recently got an FX3 (was debating between this and an A7IV), and being able to load in your own LUTs into the camera has been one of my fave features. Sad to hear it's not on the this camera. But great breakdown, thanks for this!

      Totally fair. Yeah it is a bit of a bummer that this camera doesn't support LUTs. It didn't use to be an issue for me but now I use it on my FX30 all the time so it sucks that I can't do it with both cameras. The FX3 is great though, I'd be super happy with that camera, but it costs almost as much as both of my cameras combined.

    First of all, this is not a cinematography-based camera, Most of your issues are about cinematography and if you are doing a lot of it, it's better to get a cinema lineup camera like fx3 or fx30. A7 IV is a Photography Camera with good video capability.

      @itmeremy  2 месяца назад +3

      I agree, I mainly do video so all my issues are based on that. While it is built like a photography camera, it is very much a hybrid, so it does both roughly equally as well. If I were to buy a new camera now I'd absolutely get a cinema camera but since this one was my first Sony, and when I got it I wasn't as deep into video as I am now, I wanted something that can do both

    The rolling shutter tests are very silly. Nobody moves the camera back and forth like that when shooting.

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  Месяц назад

      @dericsanchez4081 I agree, it's not a realistic test, but it is one of the best ways to show the difference. If it performs well in that test, you know it won't cause any issues in any real scenarios.

    The over heating is my biggest gripe. I've even put a metal heat sink on the back and it still can over heat with in 50 minutes. I've been recently told if you use an external monitor that also will make it over heat quicker. Like you said the heat beings building as soon as the camera is turned on. I've done education doc work and a lot of it is having the camera on waiting for a moment you want. Even shooting 1-5 minutes clips the camera over heated in a couple of hours. You would think indoors would be better because it's out of the sun but it's not. With no breeze there is no air flow to dissipate the heat.
    My other big gripe is how they implement custom setting. I find I can't use the custom dial because things like white balance aren't universal. So for example If you used C1 for slowmo and C2 for regular. Every time you switch the custom dial it will revert to the white balance that was set when the custom setting was created.

      That's fair. I've personally never had it overheat, even when on for a few hours, but like I said in the video, the conditions play a big part. Also, I primarily shoot at 25p so it's not like I'm shooting 4k 60 all the time.
      I get what you mean about the custom settings. Personally, I almost always shoot at 5600k so I don't really have the white balance issue, but I can see where you're coming from

      @@itmeremy I film in 4k 29p primarily. So do you use an external monitor? I would use 1080 but the image quality looks worse because they're line skipping. I just don't like the pressure of having the heat issue alway in the back of your mind when your on a job whether it over heats or not.

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  2 месяца назад

      @petercofrancesco9812 I usually do use a monitor, but I have it as a clean feed so the camera screen is still on.
      I wouldn't want to shoot in 1080 either, I shoot everything in 4k

    Man i got serious about photography with this camera , and now Nikon dropped the z6iii 😅😅😅😅
    I moved from nikon to sony colours
    Atleast Nikon had Sigma glass.
    Still it is all about the photographer .

      @itmeremy  2 месяца назад +1

      True, Nikon is still very much photo-first, but their last few cameras have had some pretty solid video specs and features

    It's a donkey compared to Nikon z6iii. The Nikon is almost everything the Sony A7iv could have been.

    • @itmeremy

      It might be a little early call that since the Z6III came out a day ago. Most people are saying good things about it, although the dynamic range seems to be a little behind the competition. Also, remember that the a7IV came out 2 years ago so it's obviously going to be a little behind when it comes to tech
