The new batteries are able to provide I higher amperage draw for a longer time which is why the r5c users are getting better run time and why the older batteries "lock out" modes. It is stupid that 24fps isn't available though. anything under 30fps should be an option on older batteries as well as the connection functionality to the mobile app
@@AnthonyGugliotta I was told by a Canon rep (Ontario) in tech terms that are above my head that the reason these frame rates are not available is because on the original R5, they were not being captured with a stacked BSE sensor. Everyone screamed for stacked BSE, so it is a case of be careful what you wish for. BTW, I've seen your other replies about not being able to get batteries in Canada. You are probably looking at the usual big retail stores. I've had no problem sourcing them locally at smaller stores - in Canada.
Great so the useless feature (higher video on smartphone screens🤡) that creates most of the parasitic noise in stills also blocks older batteries . Btw if you take video all the time get a camcorder.
I skipped out on buying the r5 and just used it through different companies I’ve worked for. Now that the R5ii is out I finally purchased it so the new batteries is not an issue for me. I also was able to purchase two extra batteries and the fan grip from my local camera store.
Hello, everyone. Complementing Anthony's excellent info. I am writing from Italy and I am a Wedding Photographer. I have purchased the new Canon R5MarkII and also in Italy the New Batteries are not available. I report for Photographers. I tested in a wedding the new Canon. Nothing to report outstanding for Af quality and Image quality. Problem encountered? Inserting the old batteries I was using in the R5 MKI everything works correctly, I repeat on the photographic side, the problem is that each LPE6NH battery does not last more than about 80 shots! Result: after about 10 consumed batteries I had to make up for it on the old R5 MKI...because by then I was almost out of batteries. Canon's behaviour is embarrassing, these are working tools used by those who make photography or video shooting their job and source of income. How is it possible to work in these conditions? ..my luck that I have a second camera body...but who can't afford it? Canon 👎
I tried capturing an airshow on my R5II with the old batteries. I definitely got more than 80 photos, but the new battery performance was significantly better. This all could be solved if they simply made more batteries available.
Let's talk about the price of the batteries in Italy, 109€. How can we buy more batteries at that price with a bag full of batteries paid 70€ that will be useless with the R5II. Crazy stuff.
80 shots it's way less than the minimum specs. Either the camera needs to be checked by your local PSC, or the batteries are at the end of their lifecycle, or you're doing something wrong.
I've been getting just over 2000 clicks with the old battery in the R5II and around 4000 with the new battery. When shooting photos non stop at weddings. Pretty crazy how different it is. I was lucky to get a couple of new ones right off the "bat"
Dude, there are lots of smaller camera shops that have batteries in stock. I just ordered two extra ones from Nelson Photo Video in San Diego (I live in SC and my batteries shipped today). You can order them right now as they are in stock! So you didn't really need to make this video. :)
While I agree with Canon's decision to upgrade to better batteries to make more powerful cameras, these are not a big enough improvement to justify all the annoyances of switching. There has to be a better solution. I wouldn't mind sacrificing the small form factor tbh.
This is step 1 for them improving it. It’s more than likely going to be chipset performances that optimize the battery performance overall. I wouldn’t doubt that in the next series of batteries and cameras, they will communicate more effectively and efficiently to power down the camera or features that aren’t being utilized to optimize the battery performance even further. It’s just a process that takes time for any manufacturer. But the truth about battery technology overall, is that the actual products used to make batteries hasn’t been improved in decades, so all companies are working with the materials that are available and attempting to optimize the existing technology using chips.
I was able to shoot 3600+ photos over a 6 hour period on Saturday and still had a bar or two left on the battery that came with the Mark 2. The 3 extra new batteries that I got from Adorama were left untouched in my camera bag. On a similar shooting day with my R5 I would’ve been halfway into my 2nd battery by the end of the day. That may not be a fair comparison since those old batteries have been used and reused quite a bit, but this first time shooting an event with the Mark 2 definitely eased my concern about this camera being a battery hog.
i have the same problem, there is no Lp-E6P stock. the older batteries limit some of the functions even network functions are restricted. Not sure why they restrict net functions? So, you're stuck with one LP-E6P and when you use your older batteries you have limited functions. This is really a silly release strategy by Canon. Somehow, Canon always cripples their camera and this time it's battery related which a critical part. It kind of makes the camera useless... because of the battery limitation. I think they can allow some more functions to work especially with LP-E6NH.
i’ll have you know that I have the new latest Canon batteries and it’s still only allows me to record in 29 frames per second. I don’t understand it. It’s also telling me I can’t record anything above 29 frames a second with the attached hand grip, which has two canon batteries inside and they are the new kind.
This video was incredibly helpful-thank you! I have a special request for a future topic: I'm having trouble tethering my Canon R5 Mark II to my Mac and PC via USB-C. I'm not sure if it's the memory cards, the USB-C cables, or the computers I'm using. I never experienced this issue with any other Canon camera. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I pre-ordered 7 spare batteries the moment I pre-ordered the new R5. I knew it would end up locking me out of specific functions. Canon kind of also touched on it in their announcement video. I have a few of the older batteries lying around. Luckily, I got the batteries shipped at the same time as the camera. Thanks BH.
Great review, the old battery issue and the inability to change the filenames to something more simple are two big issues i ran into that reviews failed to mention. i really hope a firmware update can fix both issues.
I agree. They should have built the camera around the R3 body, and used the bigger and better batteries that camera have. But then they would probably have massacred R1 sales.
I greatly enjoy my R5II. Sorry you have trouble getting the new batteries in Canada. Here in Southern California, they're available. In fact, my local shop (in L.A.) ordered ~100 and received them all, so I picked up spares when I picked up the body from them.
Great video Anthony. The improved battery is a consumable - Canon stands to make much more money from it, provided they make it a mandatory purchase 😉. It’s a sign of the times…
Yeah I think that’s part of the full read out of the sensor. It’s strange to me how Canons DSLR’s don’t do that, but in certain modes for their mirrorless cameras they wobble.
To your point, I think it is somewhat frustrating that the R52 doesn’t film in the higher frame rate modes although the canon R5 can record up to 8K with the same battery so I am curious to see if in firmware update they will remedy some of these battery issues.
Strangely I had no issues getting the batteries. I pre-ordered one at Canon (about a week after it was announced) and one at Adorama. Both of them shipped out on Aug 20th.
Thank you from Uruguay! I didn't buy this camera, and I guess I won't for the time being, but you did such an extensive review that is very much appreciated!
🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋 Bro the old battery had it's limitations. Meaning if the battery is below 50% you would loose your continuous shooting feature (ie) the green H+ mode will no longer shoot in 12fps. If the new batteries solve that issue, I am all in. But if canon decides to raise the price of the battery, then it's going to be good. Already the lpe6nh is twice the price of the lpe6. Not supporting lpe6 batteries is a bad move. We all have atleast 2 of them from the 5d4 era.
I don't mean to think badly about Canon, but is there a chip in or a different pin on the setup on the new battery that tell the camera which one is inserted, planned obsolescence?
That is correct in the new batteries there are chips to optimize the tech within the battery itself. There have been no improvements in battery technology in decades! The main difference is the chips inside the batteries and cameras as to how each manufacturer utilizes the battery tech.
About your rant and batteries: buy one of those little packs for sticking two batteries and storing...just need to buy a few of them and then label what batteries you have in each...ok cost 9 bucks each but as I age I use all sorts of these packing things...fun fun...say, I do have some of the older batteries if you need them.
Unfortunatelly since cameras are more and more digital it is easy for brands to do these kinds of electronic limits to stuff, to force "brand loyalty" and the purchase of newer gear to replace perfectly working gear. This annoys me to no end, along with the long limitation on Sigma and Viltrox from building RF lenses (yes, I am a Canon user too). This sort of behaviour by a brand is what makes me consider seriously changing brands, and as such, at least on me, is generating the opposite of their intended effect.
Hi anthony... for uploading raw I use lightroom on my phone and a cable, import the photo's directly in LR. I am not a professional, just shooting for hobby, so I don't know if you miss out an LR features.
I honestly can’t believe this is an issue. I mean, I would understand that you can’t use high frame rates o raws or stuff like that. But hindering you on the lower shooting specs is bonkers. I strongly hope that they can fix this via firmware.
Everyone always assumes that everything can be fixed via firmware. People are not considering that previously these frame rates and functions were not being captured on the R5 1 with a stacked BSE sensor. What are 'lower specs'? Can you define this in engineering terms related to the camera? It is a completely different architecture with new power requirements. Compared to major components batteries are not high cost or high markup items. I don't think any reasonable conclusion sees Canon blocking frame rates to sell more batteries. THAT would be bonkers.
@@MicheletDiez Right. And did the RP have a stacked BSE sensor? Again, completely different sensor, architecture, etc. Trying to prove what can be added via firmware in a new release by talking about a 5-year-old camera that has little in common with the R5II is falling quite hard into a logical fallacy. As of yet, we simply don't know.
@@SteveSSBB ok, then tell me, why did it lock on 30fps on old batteries, instead of 24 fps? that's the whole point, whatever is needed to have the limitation of 30 fps, could have been 24fps.
@@MicheletDiez I was told in terms over my head by a Canon rep that the issue with those frame rates vs the R5 is the stacked BSE sensor. You are assuming that there is some kind of intentional blocking going on because you think 30fps is a higher requirement than 24fps in terms of the overall technology and architecture which amounts to pure speculation. You don't know that. My point is that it is wildly improbable that Canon would intentionally block a very popular frame rate just to sell a few more batteries. Even if every R5 purchaser bought 5 new batteries it wouldn't register in Canon's bottom line. Canon is a corporation and exists for a bottom line aimed at appeasing investors - agreed. That doesn't automatically make them bad actors - or idiotic.
I heard about this issue with the batteries from 1 other source. He mentioned the pre-warning message and the shooting limitations, but the no connectivity is new info to me. And this is a but of a banner for me who is considering the next gen R6iii or R7ii.
But when enough batteries hit the market is it still a “cripple hammer”? You say this as if Sony didn’t limit 3rd party lens manufacturers from being able to completely utilize their FPS in the A1 or a9 series cameras. Or how Nikon doesn’t allow you to shoot above 20 FPS in raw format for the Z9 when it’s full capable of handling it. They all have some “cripple hammer” you just notice it or don’t because you either love the company or hate it and notice its flaws. When you have no emotional attachment to any of the systems you’ll recognize what those limitations are and rent the equipment you need to complete the job at hand. That’s what the pros do. 🙂 Edit: oh and don’t get me started on how Sony uses CF-Express type A cards. That really annoys me either way a 61 megapixel camera or a 50 megapixel camera that shoots 30FPS! Not to mention those cards are 2 and a half times the price of CF-Express type B cards and less than half the performance.
I get the limitations on not using the new battery, but just like years past those limitations were performance based. These limitations seem sketchy. Especially the no network part. With that said what about a usb-c cable and battery pack? The usb cable to your android for picture transfer should work as well right? Man i love the full hdmi port and finally a blinking tally for battery low finally matches all my other cams.
in my opinion the batteries has a faster power supply for the cam - may be you can compare the contacts from one old batterie with a new one. Thats the only thing that would make sense to me while the data on the paper is the same.
Um I’m kinda confused 😕 You have thousands of dollars of lens equipment and camera but buying new batteries is a deal breaker for you? You can’t wait for more batteries and use your old camera before the new batteries arrive?
So you are saying that it should become a norm to spent $500 to $1k on new batteries even though your already owned $700 woth of batteries are still in good working conditions but now you gotta throw those out and pay canon (again) to get back the same functionalities you had on your R5 with NH batteries?? IF you don't feel this is a scam, you are the reason companies keep getting away with robbing their customers. I bet you are an apple lover too
Between the Third Party lens issue and now the battery limitations, Canon is hard to trust. This seems like a money grab. It seems unnecessary. I have shot Canon for 10 years. Canon restrictions reduce the value proposition
I feel like canon are going to get to a point where they release a flagship that doesn't even give you the option to remove the battery. they will probably just have a build in Lithium battery that you can only charge with some proprietary special canon usb-c charger 😂
And that’s why I’ve stopped calling them CANon and started calling them CANTon! Because I just Can’t with Canon. I’ve been shooting canon For 1,362,554 years, 18 months, 379 days, 25 hours, 62 minutes and 352 seconds and I’ve never been so applauded that they won’t acknowledge my first world issues. Between this and them blocking the full frame RF 3rd party lenses with auto focus, I’m so upset I’ll be finding a different brand. Yeah I could use an adapter, but I shouldn’t have too! The adapter works fine, but I need native RF full frame 3rd party lenses to go out and shoot pictures of my back porch and give it an artistic feel so people Will think I’m a photographer genius! Then I’ll talk about how I only shoot with natural light and carry my camera everywhere so people will talk to me. 😂
@@mattmastrandrea3965they won’t. They had to place a different set of chips in this battery to maximize the capabilities of the system. The last generation of batteries was an issue and the feedback was given to Canon from their pros. So they came out with a new battery (which right now is harder to produce) with a new chip that optimizes battery life and people are still complaining for some reason. To most, this seems like a small change, but it’s a major change! People who are using this battery in older mirrorless cameras are claiming a major boast almost doubling the battery life and capacity (like stated in the video). So it’s just going to take time to build up the inventory.
@@AnthonyGugliotta Now that is strange, hoping they make a firmware update to at least allow 24 fps. It is odd they didn't expect this to be very popular. Hoping you get a new battery soon!
The fact that Canon didn’t source these to be able to ship them with the new body is a marketing and PR nightmare for them in my opinion. New batteries is a common requirement. New batteries required for new features that aren’t actually available is a hot mess and reflects poorly on the brand.
is crazy with that price. instead of R5 mk2 i moved to Sony a7rV, and no more heat issues, battery life issues, photos out of focus, and weight to the half :) everyone should do the same :)
I think its going to be the same route for Nikon and Sony. I am a Sony user and I do think Sony should have developed a newer and stronger battery starting with the a9iii. The 7.2v Z-battery they have now is still great but it won't be able to keep up once 8K/60fps is implemented into their new cameras or when they hit 240 fps burst shooting. Its for sure needed because Mirrorless cameras are sucking the life out of battery faster than ever before with all the features they have. Hopefully a 10v & 3,500 mAh capacity battery in the future. I know the grip will be bigger buts its very needed more than every today. It's just like smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S that has a 1,500 mAh battery in 2010. Now 2024, Galaxy S24 has a 4,500 mAh battery. That's 3x times the size to keep up these smartphones to last one day.
The Hotshoe cover is a matter of technique and being gentle and takes seconds and is far less annoying than the old one that would fall off and get lost every shoot. I have 5 of the old batteries from my R6ii and R7 but they do not last forever so are starting to need replacing anyway. More annoying than not having all the features with the old battery is l cannot even get a thousand images from them but that is ok because they have a new battery available. Yes we all want our already ordered spare batteries but hopefully we will see them soon. I skipped the original R5 as it lacked features which l expected would be in the mark ii and are so l have very few complaints in fact the features are technically a little better than l expected. We hated the micro HDMI port but it is gone now so we find something else to complain about but all brands will give us something to complain about, me l am happy for the next 4 years.😀
Sounds like a fun time when the R6iii comes out 😅 Luckily I mainly do stills so hopefully I can find a way to make sure it's not a major issue. But the Canon Android app, eugh, not being able to send raw files is so annoying, and after all this time obviously never getting fixed, just didn't realise it could get worse 😒
R5ii has lots of good thins and bad things. I heard turning OFF bluetooth and turning ON Airplane mode are to save the battery. I did not check the difference.
Hi can u tell me which camera and lens I should my budget is 1000 US$ amd I am new to camera industry and I am in high school can u suggest me please ❤
As great and as high tech this camera is in every way, I think I’ll be sticking with the OG: Canon EOS R, for a few more years to come. 😅 Though it has its own set of limitations, too, by the sound of it, it also has some advantages over these newer models-to some degree. (e.g. forward and backward compatibility with batteries, etc.)
I'd like to know if these new batteries when used in cams like the R6 II offer longer time for H+ burst modes, and maybe longer battery life overall (though it is already very good)
Do you think they will somehow address some of these problems or are people just stuck with getting the new P batteries? If so, even the dummy battery which A LOT of people use for shooting videos in their studios and so on have to be remade by other brands. This really sucks and I feel like Canon is shooting themselves in the foot here and people might start switching to brands like Sony. They clearly underestimated the importance of communicating the new battery drawbacks in R5 Mk.II
I ordered an extra battery when I placed my camera order about 30 minutes after ordering went live and received it ( Adorama ). Maybe place an order for just one would help.
Don't know why you are having a problem getting batteries because I didn't have any issue. I got the battery grip with two batteries on my original order and had no problem picking up a couple more.
If you’re in USA there appears no problem getting the batteries…I’m in Australia. I’ve had 3 on order since August 20. Was just told by one shop I ordered through that they have no idea when they’ll be in stock. So ridiculous and an absolute fail from Canon
Went to Samy's camera to try and buy 2 extra batteries and they weren't about to sell me any at all cause I didn't buy the camera directly from them. They then relented and only sold me 1 battery. But they were being pretty strict about 1 battery limit.
The ads from beginning mentioned some of the missing modes in video. I knew right off they would be in short supply, ordered 8 the first day, got all 8, no problem. If you waited day or two then yeah, going to have to wait. It always happens with anything new.
As soon as they came out with this, I realized they’re becoming apple. It is understandable that they want to make money but for photographers getting such low paid gigs (yes there are ones who do $300 weddings) this is really expensive.. also there are next to none third party lenses for RF. So basically Apple
Yes keep complaining. RUclipsrs are always so worried about speaking up cause they are to busy worrying about offending in hopes of working with Canon or getting free stuff. Canon is not anyone’s friend Canon is a Company that sells products and if something affects their sales you best believe they will do something about it. We the consumers need to take our power back by being patient and not purchasing everything every 5 minutes a new product comes out or at least until they perfect something better. I know that will never happen though.
The new battery issue is unfortunate, and I’m sure that 24p will be unlocked at some point. That said, the batteries are NOT identical. You act like you read the voltage being the same on the back of the battery and that’s incorrect. The LP-E6NH is 7.2V and the LP-E6P is 8.4V. Written right on the back of the battery and a very substantial difference between them. There is over a 16% difference in potential energy and efficiency. The camera was clearly built from the ground up to exploit these benefits and operates above 7.2V for many shooting modes. The good news is that these batteries are compatible with the R6II, and R5. I haven’t tested in the R7 or original R6, but I believe there won’t be an issue. So the battery is designed to be backwards compatible. 24P being locked out is likely another Canon Japan omission and would not be the first time they left it off a camera upon initial release. Just be very loud and I’m sure they’ll somehow manage to make it work. LOL
No doubt the batteries are different, but when you read the text, the last line of my battery says 7.2V but the text is in Japanese. Reading it again, it also lists 8.4V but the text is also in Japanese. Perhaps this is the dual-operating voltage others have mentioned? I've read that discharge rate is another factor that's been improved, but it's mostly from people online guessing. The point is Canon isn't being very transparent, and as many people have pointed out; such a minor change has created quite the inconvenience. It would have been much more appreciated if the change was significant, instead of seeming like a halfway measure.
The new LPE6P batteries actually can't even be USB C charged in the R5 and R6. Bought a bunch of them and they can be charged on my R5C, but not on my R5. So this isn't even entirely true either.
@@kpopfanphotos Thats strange. I can charge my LPE6P batteries in camera using a 25W PD charger from Anker (used that charger before on the R5 as well). No issues. Tried a different charger?
That's exactly why I don't run to buy the new product first I wait till about 2 years before I get the new product cuz by that time they should have some more batteries
Hi Anthony, how are you? I have a similar problem with my R6 it's seems that some times it don't work with the old LP-E6, yes i know it's old but i have some of them from my 5dmk2 then some of the LP-E6N from the 5Dmk4 and now a few of the EL-E6NH
I was able to get an extra battery when I purchased mine R5 MK II. I also have the R7 and R6 MK II so I get what you are saying about mixed batteries. It is weird that the old batteries change the menu and lock out features. You would think it would just limit the time you have to do all that. i have the same problem, there is no Lp-E6P stock. the older batteries limit some of the functions even network functions are restricted.
Thanks BH.
I've been getting updates here in Canada that I may need to wait until October... Maybe it's time to fly to NYC to pick some up directly from BH?
Road Trip! Do it
In terms of stabilization while walking and shooting videos, how much better is it compared to the R5, percentage-wise?
That wobble at 15mm is for sure better, but how in a camera like the r5ii it hasn’t been completely eliminated is beyond me
I would still love an option to turn it off and use lens IS only, but at this point it's usable enough that I've stopped worrying about it 🙃
@@AnthonyGugliottaand the lens IS + Digital IS is more powerful than even sony's ibis + lens is combined lol
@@mbismbismb that's generally how I feel after using both
Yeah I think that’s part of the full read out of the sensor.
Fingers crossed. I would be happy with 4K 60fps.
I talked about it.... last week... love your videos!
you got wrong how the exhaust vent works. It's meant to only work with the fan grip, and the airflow goes the opposite direction.
Can't you use a USB-C battery pack and have full access to all camera functions?
Strangely I had no issues getting the batteries. I pre-ordered one at Canon (about a week after it was announced) and one at Adorama. Both of them shipped out on Aug 20th.
Thank you from Uruguay! I didn't buy this camera, and I guess I won't for the time being, but you did such an extensive review that is very much appreciated!
🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋
Bro the old battery had it's limitations.
This is correct! Thank you for bringing this up!
The Ps currently cost the same as the NHs
What would be the benefits of running the new battery on Canon R5 MKI
Ok ok, how about plugging in the R5ii batteries into the R5 or R6ii. Will they burn 🔥 🤔
Have your tried using a power bank with the old batteries? Is the Network menu still greyed-out?
Canon R5ii Battery compatibility and USB-C power
@@SteveSSBB Simple, 24fps. Look how thr RP on launch could only have 30fps, and was added later on 24fps.
Thankfully I was able to secure 5 additional batteries and they all arrived within a week (3 from Adorama, 2 from BH).
If this is Canon's cripper hammer than this is amazing! There isn't really any other problems with this camera. You know they always have one.
I agree. These are such small issues that I'm sure will get fixed.
Edit: oh and don’t get me started on how Sony uses CF-Express type A cards. That really annoys me either way a 61 megapixel camera or a 50 megapixel camera that shoots 30FPS! Not to mention those cards are 2 and a half times the price of CF-Express type B cards and less than half the performance.
New gear issues, we’ve learned to deal with these issues with laptops, phones, and cars. Just upgrade when you can.
No matter how awesome that camera is I'm sticking to my 90D I don't have those problems with my 90d
Firmware update has fixed these issues 👍🏻
Um I’m kinda confused 😕
You have thousands of dollars of lens equipment and camera but buying new batteries is a deal breaker for you?
You can’t wait for more batteries and use your old camera before the new batteries arrive?
So you are saying that it should become a norm to spent $500 to $1k on new batteries even though your already owned $700 woth of batteries are still in good working conditions but now you gotta throw those out and pay canon (again) to get back the same functionalities you had on your R5 with NH batteries?? IF you don't feel this is a scam, you are the reason companies keep getting away with robbing their customers. I bet you are an apple lover too
@@mrsuperselenio5694 😃🤙
Between the Third Party lens issue and now the battery limitations, Canon is hard to trust. This seems like a money grab. It seems unnecessary. I have shot Canon for 10 years. Canon restrictions reduce the value proposition
I feel like canon are going to get to a point where they release a flagship that doesn't even give you the option to remove the battery. they will probably just have a build in Lithium battery that you can only charge with some proprietary special canon usb-c charger 😂
Pray to God that won't happen that would be horrendous 😭
My guy, don't give them ideas!
My batteries came from B&H a couple days after getting the R5 Mark II, annoying they are so delayed!
I would have ordered from B&H but they region locked their batteries and will only ship within the US. Not sure why Canada is taking so long.
Ordered 3 batteries from B&H in August received them the following week.
is crazy with that price. instead of R5 mk2 i moved to Sony a7rV, and no more heat issues, battery life issues, photos out of focus, and weight to the half :) everyone should do the same :)

So this is the caveat this time round with the Mark II? 🥲
We hated the micro HDMI port but it is gone now so we find something else to complain about but all brands will give us something to complain about, me l am happy for the next 4 years.😀
A battery should not include or exclude features. Period. As a Sony shooter I´m now happy that my batteries are normal freaking batteries.
If it only shoots in 30fps? How did you do the battery test at 24 fps ?
I’m still confused?
What codecs exactly can you not use ?
Sorry, that should have read 24fps for the R6ii and 30fps for the R5ii
@@AnthonyGugliotta Irish camera stores have the battery’s not the camera in stock so won’t have this issue when my camera lands haha
The new battery is operating at 8.4 v but can operate at lower function at 7.2v. The old battery is 7.2
The batteries and the menu settings reseting after constant resetting which is a firmware bug, made me return it.
R5ii has lots of good thins and bad things. I heard turning OFF bluetooth and turning ON Airplane mode are to save the battery. I did not check the difference.

As great and as high tech this camera is in every way, I think I’ll be sticking with the OG: Canon EOS R, for a few more years to come. 😅
Though it has its own set of limitations, too, by the sound of it, it also has some advantages over these newer models-to some degree. (e.g. forward and backward compatibility with batteries, etc.)
Canon R5 Mark II RAW files are not supported by the MacBook version?
Batteries are now in stock. We can breath 😅
Also use an external battery PD into USBc port charging the internal battery
I basically walked around a whole day like this. It was a bit annoying for photos.
Things is, I heard that Canon will block 3rd party manufacturers from making P batteries just like they have a block on the RF lenses
So I am lucky to own two of the new batteries. But you can also add a external powerbank and film the whole day with only one of the new batteries.
This is why we need Rudy back!

What happens if you use a Dummy Battery to D-Tap / V Mount battery? Will this work?
So far I've tried USB-C Dummy battery and it does not work.
I ordered an extra battery when I placed my camera order about 30 minutes after ordering went live and received it ( Adorama ). Maybe place an order for just one would help.
I got so much hate for mentioning I thought it was unacceptable 4k24 wasnt available with their old batteries.
Everyone I've mentioned this too agrees it's ridiculous. The hate is undeserved.
The biggest issue is the price. How could I justify buying this, when I can get the mki on Ebay NEW for like $2200?
Can we use the latest batteries in the R6 mk1?
Don´t worry, we heard about the battery issues a few weeks ago, you´re not the first one!
Is power delivery able to supplement the LPE6NH’s and bring some of the features back?
Running a bunch of tests today, will report back with in a Short.
Amazon has it available for next day delivery.
