Nice vid. Great idea Mace came up with. The pod is was flows better, with slightly less filtration. The original setup was a poor design any way those silly clips. They never seal properly unless you grease the top of the filter and so many cars suck in unfiltered air from the top. This at least stops that from occurring. I was looking at getting one but not sure if I could plump to the box with a Turbo or charger installed.
Question for you. Do they make a heat shield too? Cos even at normal temperature, the engine gets hot to touch, bonnets warm etc.. So to me, that says the engine bay gets hot af right? Now if you do the install like this... how is it COLD air intake? It's coming from a hot engine bay (air would be hot). It's coming from a small metal box.. I assume it's even hotter in a smaller space... So again I ask... how is this COLD air intake?
@@w0lfm4n43 I found the Mace manifold insulator helped big time with heat. But for me the biggest improvement was when in installed HPC coated genie headers. Coating has lasted over 10 years which is amazing. Can be touched like 5 to 10 minutes even after a long run. Replacing tape and covering all wiring with new insulation sleeves is a good step. There is nothing critical near the manifolds so Holden never thought it necessary like on more cramped engine bays. But would be easy to get some made up to use same bolts as manifolds.
i think you have to spin the maf sens as you wont be able to plug it in as there isnt enough cable, if you can plug it in then im pretty sure you should be fine.
I have been runing this with my catback exhaust and x-force extractors thats welded to my stock y pipe, and still haven't had any issues yet and its been 7 months. but i feel like it would do alot better with a tune, but im lazy and dont wanna pay for it lmao.
I don’t get why people use these cai boxes. The stock air box is sealed with a filter inside. This cai is a unsealed box which can suck in hot air where the induction pipe goes into it. The 2 hole mod in the stock air box seems to a better idea and a lot cheaper to me.
Hey the two hole method is still good, I chose this option because I like the added hiss sound and how they look in the engine bay. but I have also noticed a slight better response time.
Best video and advise went through every step the whole way cheers bro definitely worth watching

Hey mate I have a 2000 vt commodore v6 what CAI do I go with
you can go with the same one used in this video(CAI is linked in description) as it fits any vt commodore from 1997-20014
If I left the maf sens facing down would it matter ?
i think you have to spin the maf sens as you wont be able to plug it in as there isnt enough cable, if you can plug it in then im pretty sure you should be fine.
Im in the process of making one.
Hey probably a stupid question but would I have to get a tune?
No you don’t
No you wouldn’t need a tune as I have been running mine without one and have had no problems in 8 months, but it would perform better with a tune.
No worries thank you
@@jaydenpenfold5515 no problem
@@bonylof3874you know fuck all ! Why even comment with your incompetant knowledge
Would it need a tune up or is it ok to run without?

hey are these legal? was thinking of doing it just not sure if its worth the risk of getting defected
i believe it's legal as long as you have it encloused in the black box like how this comes.
@@dismissedtub6717 yeah righto thanks
Why does the maf sens have to be facing up
You want to rotate the maf sens 90° so it has adequate clearence, due to it being moved abit.
Where does the cold air come from tho? Seams more like a warm air intake
Yea lmao, it sounds alright but I didn’t expect much from it and especially for a v6
It comes from the passage side gaurd. No heatsoak as im getting 2 degrees Celsius above ambient temperature

Chit 👍
The factory intake gets hot as hell because it's above the radiator. Crap set-up
If you ask me that seems more like a hot air intake
I don’t think anyone asked you 😂
