That Luxman is the star of the show here. I am not a big fan of B&W speakers. I have 3 systems, all have budget speakers in them. The main system an older Accuphase P11 power amp and C-222 preamp runs a Q Acoustics 3050, the Marantz PM-14 SE runs a Diamond 230 pair and the Muzishare X-5 runs a pair of Diamond 240 which I bought after listening to you demo a pair. Good amplification I found can make budget speakers nowadays sound high end. I am sure spending more on speakers can give me a tad more of a "better" sound but will that slight improvement be worth the thousands more I need to spend. I love the IAG Wharfedale tonality these days. Bang for buck speakers. I hope you keep this Luxman and in my humble opinion work on getting a more synergistic pair of speakers. Keep up the good reviews.
I agreed with you, some of the budget speakers sound quality increases significantly with better amps, personally I would try to go with similar price range for Amp and speakers. Thanks
Maybe it's just me, but it feels like that Luxman is revealing some of the deficiencies of those B&Ws. I predict another upgrade in your immediate future.
I agree I listened to this song with some hi-end headphones and there is a lot of missing sound from the after effects of the instruments. Subtle things.
I think at this stage the room needs to be addressed. But the room contribution may be exaggerated by the far-field recording. I think I enjoyed the Parasound room better with many speakers. Some side wall treatment and a corner bass trap? Regardless of my armchair yapping - Enjoy! How long has the Luxman been burning in? Sometime during the process, they just slid into a personality change to absolute sound magic with everything right. - Sandy
Yes.looks great. But I'm still using an old 1976 model Akai AA 1050 receiver.Mine is wider than the luxman, and looks even better than that. I think Akai in it's heyday pioneered the chunky aluminium facia look. It's the type of styling that's exciting to look at . I wish I could upload a pic of mine here.
In fact you know what my friend uses this amp with Harbeths and the sound signature is consistent with what I am hearing in your videos. I must say this amp is built like a tank but infuses too much of its own sound signature to the reproduced sound!! You should consider other amplifiers as well. Perhaps look at a used Quad 909.
This room is treated well with acoustic foams at all reflection points, please try original music first to help you get more accurate experience and use the headphones like MDR7506 to hear more accurately, personally I preferred Japanese amps for best build quality and long term reliability because If I like it I will be using it for more than 10 years, thanks
Yes I’m not sure if I’m going to keep it over Denon because it’s just a little better in refinement and bass response, I will decide within next two weeks, thanks
Great sound! Good choice of music (specially in comparison with previous). Next step - speakers! Btw what’s the source? I think I don’t ser the record playing on that Denon TT and neither Marantz CD player.
@@Tharbamar Yes, it is clearly shown. well rounded and full nice sound. I'm also leaning towards buying the same 505uX but wonder if it will suit ProAcs (D28)
Just a thought but you might want to consider a older luxman integrated ( just a bit older in series..maybe a 590) to try class a output power as I think this unit is class ab. Don't be fooled by the lowest looking wattage of class a. It's more than you think and I think even better. Even more refinement. These integrateds are quite good and scale up with better sources and speakers as well😀
May I ask? After watching a lot of your video, I notice, you only Interested on bookshelf speakers. Why do you choose bookshelf over floor standers? Coz I’m in a dilemma choosing between both.
I like the way bookshelf speakers reproduce the sound with better stereo image and holographic sound signature, good quality bookshelf speakers are great if you don’t listen very loud but if you have big space then tower speakers may be better choice.
Initially I just wanted a good headphone to listen to music as I can’t go crazy on volume with stereo speakers. Can only listen to music after work which is late night 90% of the time. So this means I don’t need my speaker to play loud. Just low to normal listening volume. But I don’t like the idea of having sound inside of my head, I want my soundstage to be in front of me. That’s where my interest shift to stereo speakers. Thanks for your advice. It’s really help me to make my decision that suit to my listening style. It’s just that, many says floor stander will give better dynamic and better sense of scale and I don’t even know what that means or do I need it or not since I only will be playing music at low volume.
Just moved to a bigger room and went Klipsch 820 floorstanders, and I ain't going back. Paired it with the 120 12" sub in a 2.1 system. Share it with my HT using HT bypass, I have the P5 that Thanbamar used to have, paired with the A-23.
Yes floor standing speakers are great for dynamic and and scale but that quality is more noticeable at higher volume levels and I think good quality bookshelf speakers with class AB amps will give you the best sound quality for your need.
Wow.. Luxman, tons of power! First I can feel the strong power in it. Very good presentation of wide, warm and detial. Some say the new Triangle Borea BR03 are good speaker for it's price. Hope you to review it.
So far sounds really really excellent, thanks for the video..all around sounds really amazing this one and the L509X model, and I'm at the moment only listening through my little baby a JBLxtreme 2 blue tooth speaker , so so unfortunately I'm missing alot..but yet ALOT to my ears come through and it's been exciting/thrilling..I'm wondering how would it sound with other non easy listening songs/music ,wowww again thanks for sharing.
There is no such thing as being too good. Most if not all speakers will benefit from better amplification. B&W all the more. I see alot of comments on how good the Luxman is. Seems that alot of pple fail to see the fact that no matter how good the amp is, if the speakers in question are not up to scratch, the overall sound will still be subpar.
@@Tharbamar The Luxman is quite high-end. You might be able to get small gains in one or two areas by going up another price rung, but IMO, to really surpass this level of integrated, the only answer is separates, possibly even monoblocks. You could fit a small monoblock on the floor behind each speaker and have the preamp where you your Luxman currently resides. The monoblocks don't necessarily have to be expensive, much of the advantage simply comes from the greater separation of the circuitry.
More details realism than denon...but hope it doesnt get annoying long term that it loses subtlety and delicacy. I think focal 906 is better match w denon.
Apparently, it seems to have a great sound. What about coherence, rythm, dynamics, stereo image, how does it compare to your former Denon, generally speaking, and 'til now ?
Personally, it lacks the separation of the layers of the sound. A bit muffled and lacks the clarify between the kids and high. But it may be because cannot hear I’m person or does not come across well on RUclips.
