    Your comparison with writing on the vinyl cover of an old three ring binder is spot on! At least when the Nomad is new. I've had mine for a couple of weeks and it is already starting to feel more like pen on paper.

      Haha! I'm glad I don't sound crazy about that vinyl thing. I have definitely felt the writing feel smooth out over the few days I've used it. I do enjoy the feel.

    Thanks for the demo writing in 0.3 on nomad, since it is very useful specially on the this smaller screen.

    great video sir. Especially love that You compare side-by-side the brightness. Looking for a device to rest my eyes with, but to still be able do some thinking and writing

      @@geolessel Considering all the tradeoffs - dpi, battery, writing feel, screen size availability now, storage, and screen whiteness, it looks like, on balance, the Boox for me. Your videos have definitely helped me, so thank you.

    Got mine 2 weeks ago. Loving it so far. Ideal size for writing lyrics and holding it in the vocal booth.
    Also great size for reading kindle books, less so for comic books but hey there's tradeoffs to everything.
    Haven't missed the frontlight so far, it's plenty readable even in dim conditions.

    • @geolessel
      @geolessel  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah! I have loved reading on the Kindle app with it and while writing can sometimes feel a bit cramped, that may be more on me and my preference for the 5mm dotted template when writing notes. It still feels good. I think I missed the frontlight once or twice but maybe not enough to be a decision point.

      @@geolessel I sometimes use landscape when writing feels too cramped and then flip it back to portrait when I need to read it. This way you can write freely and as big as you want and you can still fit a lot of text on the page.

    I've had mine for close to a month now. I absolutely hated, and I mean haaated, how it felt writing. I searched the web and found out people were cleaning the film and so on. After about 3 days of using it... after I cleaned it... there wasn't any of that sticky drag, just normal with a good writing feel. That break-in time is shocking though, glad I didn't do anything drastic like peel off the film and try and put something else on, or return it. This is my daily driver now, it goes everywhere with me. It's the size that enables it going everywhere, and that"s not for everyone.

    • @geolessel
      @geolessel  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, the writing feel has definitely smoothed out over time. I like it too!

    Good u boxing and intro. I like this style of going in blind. Can it side load books? Are library apps available?

    • @geolessel
      @geolessel  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the comment! It can load pdfs and epubs (and a few other file types as well). It has the Kindle app which I use with Libby with my library to borrow ebooks (I just finished reading my latest loan on it this morning). It also has the ability to basically spawn its own web server that you can connect to via a browser on a device on the same network. When you do that, you can upload documents to the device (I also tried this this morning and it was super easy).

    No front lights are a deal breaker for me

    • @geolessel
      @geolessel  5 месяцев назад +2

      Totally understandable! I'm not sure yet whether it is a dealbreaker for me. So far I haven't missed it too much. I did wish it were just a bit brighter while I was reading this morning but as I shifted in my chair it caught more of the light in the room and was fine again. Thanks for watching!
