    A couple notes - some of the pens (such as the Staedler and Generic stylus) won't fit inside the pen holder of the case I have. Outside of that, it looks like the Kindle is still a) on sale and b) actually will deliver before Christmas! Link here: geni.us/n7yW. Thanks everyone for all your support! Have a Merry Christmas!

    Solid and detailed review. Best one I’ve seen on the Scribe. I especially appreciate the breakdown of the different size comparisons of the scribe vs other tablets, along with pen options. Thanks for sharing.

    I replaced the iPad with Kindle Scribe, and I felt 80%satisfied. My needs are very clear: reading, taking notes. The deficiencies are not enough optimization of PDF, not comfortable reading the literature.

    I can't believe it. Not 2 hours ago I bought the Kindle Scribe on sale from Amazon and then your video shows up in my RUclips feed. Spooky. Wait, it gets spookier.I was seriously considering canceling the order. (The sale price of $300 is still a lot of money.) Watching your video alleviated the fear that I had made a bad decision. Thanks!

    I agree with you about the form factor of the Scribe. I was surprised that none of the review videos ever mentioned it! There is such a thing as a device being too thin, surprisingly enough. It just makes holding and writing on it very awkward unless you have a case. I hope future generations have the thickness and backing material that the Kindle Paperwhite has - then it will be absolutely perfect.

    • @sigiligus
      @sigiligus 2 месяца назад +2

      The thinness is desirable for writing on a desk. It has rubber feet on the back, which indicate it is designed to be laid flat. If you are writing on a desk like that, the less you have to lift your hand of the table to write near the edge, the more comfortable it will be

  • @jayvansickle7607
    @jayvansickle7607 7 месяцев назад +11

    I totally understand why they didn't make it so that you could write "On" a regular kindle book. Because, allot of people switch devices (with Wispersync), so when you go to a device with a different text flow.... the marking/note would misalign with the text.

    Its good to see someone appreciate this device despite of its very limited capabilities. It really is a digital minimalist device

    Pretty comprehensive review, thanks. I am just new to using e writing tablets, I just received my K Scribe a week and a half ago and love it.
    This does most of what I was hoping for, just reading and taking notes pretty much. The one disappointment I do have, which you mentioned is not being able to open more than one notebook or ebook at one time. This would be a huge improvement from my perspective as I desire to take a lot of notes while reading a book or even being able to copy notes from one notebook to another at times. I know the sticky notes are great, but it would be greatly beneficial to be able to sketch a few visible notes here and there on the page. I hope future upgrades will cover this off. Apart from that, this thing is worth every penny, I think. There really isn't anything else out there for this kind of money and have these features. Thanks for your review.

    I enjoy it for multiple reasons, many of which you’ve listed. I do prefer to have color highlighters of which this doesn’t have. It’s kind of frustrating for me to annotate pdfs on for this reason. And this was the main reason I purchased this device.

I work with large pdfs and need to be able to mark them up, take notes etc. You can upload them in kindle format or keep the native pdf format, but either format has some serious limitations. It was $500 but the android capabilities lets me have all the storefronts for books and Libby. Plus the color is great for notebooks. I have all my journals digital now on it and it has a recording option in its built in notes app for people who want to record meetings while they take notes. Plus it does split screen and can use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse as well.

    I have a quick question about the kickstand cover you have in this video. At one point, you mention that it goes into and can be removed from that cover fairly easily, but you say that you wouldn’t try to do it too much though. Did you mean that more in the sense that you would worry it might damage that cover, or that it might damage your Scribe?

    Good Video - Thanks - I have an IPAD 11” M4 Pro and Love it - EXCEPT I still don’t like the feel of writing on it, even with the PaperLike screen protector. I love the Remarkable 2 but hate the Eco system - Apple Notes is So Much more powerful. Do you see an opportunity - to leverage this ALONG with the IPad? I find I use my IPAD exclusively for content consumption - but still need a digital “notebook” - is this worth it? - or hold out for a Remarkable 2. I hate to chase the technology - but that I feel that is what is missing for me with the IPAD? I know first world problems - but as long as we are looking at options.

    Hey Harris. First time on your channel due to the Kindle Scribe. Man hope I will get answer from you or anybody else who has a Scribe and can compare with my experience. I got a problem of the display on the right edge of the screen (anywhere between 5 - 0mm) not registering properly the pen interaction - like writing in those areas or tapping on the toolbar. There is definite difference with how the screen recognises the pen strokes on the left edge of the screen, where works with no problem. So in order to get the right edge work properly I am forced to apply more pressure on the display with the pen. Kinda gets really annoying when you use the toolbar a lot or you see your pen skipping. The problem was worse in the third party case where probably the magnets messed things up even more. But even outside the case the problem persists, albeit in a smaller degree. Could you guys please check how its on your Scribes?

    • @raycheshire5581

      I use GoodNotes on my iPad, which can import pdf files for markup and has a pretty good writing experience (for an iPad). I also have Documents by Readdle, which was free for the basic functionality and has some good file-management features. You can print or export your sermon to pdf and then markup in either of these apps (or others).

    The price on this thing and the remarkable 2 make absolutely no sense. They use mobile tech from 2011 with a e-ink screen that can't be "that" expenisve. So why do these things cost an arm and a leg? A remarkable costs more than my 4k 240hz, mini led (over 1100 dimming zones),32" monitor. That just makes no fkn sense to me. A remarkable costs as much as a mid tier phone or a cheaper desktop.
    It's e-ink which isn't that expensive of a technology. With hardware froim 2011 or something. They can't even bother to give the devices hardware that's smooth enough for the menu to be super responsive and more capable.

    I put a popsocket on the back of mine which has a clear case on it, the socket is on the case not my actual device for holding it. It is bigger than the typical e-reader but, I use for work notes and to have a book access for when I want to read.
