Your questions answered! How do the refresh rates compare? What about scrolling a webpage? Can you watch a RUclips video on it?
I have done unboxing videos and comparison videos on these Boox Note Air 3 devices over the past couple of weeks and your comments have been great! Occasionally someone will have a question about one of the devices. I've been keeping notes about your questions and in this video, I try to answer them!

I got the Air 3C. Perfectly legible without the backlight in a normally lit room. It's like reading from recycled/non-bleached paper. Battery easily lasts two days of heavy handwriting use (~60% drain). Charging takes an hour.
I just keep Wifi, Bluetooth, location and unnecessary background apps OFF when I'm not using them. For my use case (writing notes, reading and annotating PDF's, occasionally syncing files with Google Drive), the Air 3C is amazing. I can color code notes and read color coded graphs.
Thanks for the comment! There are definitely benefits to having color! And it sounds like for your workflow, the color is a big benefit. There is no doubt it is a cool device. I'm glad it is working out for you!
For handwriting in my work’s projects syncing with my professional laptop, would you recommend note air 3c, 3 or an iPad?
Thanks for your reviews of the air3c and air3. I ended up ordering the air3. I think it will be the best one for my use case. It will be my first e reader device.
That keyboard is crazy! Nice video too by the way. I'm still debating on getting a Note Air 3C
Extremely helpful ! Than you very much.
You are welcome and thanks for letting me know!
Thank you for the video. I've encountered the same issue with disappearing spaces (or any other character, but most often spaces since the spacebar is pressed so quickly during typing) when I used the Nova Air 2 from Boox. Now, I have the Tab Mini C (essentially, the two smaller counterparts to your tablets), and I no longer face this issue. Although it seemed like it should have been related to the keyboard buffer, it appears to be something to do with the screen refresh rate.
FYI - When you go to create a notepad, you can choose (at the top of the screen) either a "handwriting" notepad (as you did here), OR you can choose a "text" notepad, which is designed for typing. If you go into a text notepad, you don't have to create a text box. It feels more like a Word document.
Ooooh, that's a great tip! Thanks!
thanks for the video! cool keyboard btw :)
Thanks! I do love this keyboard.
What kind of keyboard is that btw?
@@gaymrblog It is a Corne keyboard
Hi Geoffrey, Thanks a lot for the informative video! On my note air3c, I was able to use the pen and highlight text on pdf documents earlier. I am not able to do that anymore. I don't know if system updates are to blame. But, please let me know if you are able to do that and share the steps. Much appreciated!
I purchased the Note air3C and noticed that when I was creating a note I had convert hand written words to text using the AI feature but the text was not automatically saved and when I backed out of the note and went back into the note the converted text was gone. What am I doing wrong?
would you mind covering layers, adjusting opacity adjustments of a layer, then tracing for example?
i plan to optimize some drawings and key frames into PNGs for vectors later but haven't seen anyone do that.
Also, could you share how to organize saving on an external micro SD card vs the internal memory, please?
I aim to use this for as much offline use as possible & be on the go between tracing kanji practice, drawing basic outlines for PNG files, and note taking via writing to formatted editable text.
The screen looks very bright. I'm wondering is this really meet the e-ink requirement? Can help to review on this area?
I have a question: is there a battery protection option in the settings to limit the charging so that it stops charging at 80% to protect the battery from faster degradation?
I really appreciate the effort you put into making this video. It provided more useful information than you might realise! Thank you.
So for me, the Air 3 wins. If I was going to watch video I would turn on my laptop. For my commute, I would like to read and at work take lots of notes, so monochrome would be fine I think. Cheers
Great video. Can these be used for email and good drive.
Hi, can you add writing and check pixel? Thanks. This device is for writing that I looking to buyx
I’m enjoying your videos and excited to see what you pick. I just purchased a RM2 and I enjoy it. The supernote is super interesting to me and the Boox C is on my radar for an ereader.
Are you filming aerial shot with iPhone? I’m interested in any BTS info you want to share. Cameras. Audio. Etc.
I have a good friend that swears by his RM2. I just think its capabilities are a little too limited for my use cases.
The overhead shots are indeed done with an iPhone (straight recording). My head shot is with a Fuji X-T4 captured through an Elgato Cam Link with OBS. My main face light is an Elgato Key Light. For these shots I have two other lamps (one floor and one table) providing extra light to the desk/devices. I have a Shure SM7B running through a Klark Teknik CM-1 into a Behringer UMC1820. Audio recording in Logic Pro X. Edited in Final Cut Pro.
Perhaps I'll do a behind the scenes video soon!
I was so close to going with the rm2 but lack of note search capabilities lead me to boox.
Does this boox have split screen mode or multi tasking similar to an ipad
I got the na3 and after 3 days i found 1 "dead pixel" , you saw something wrong in your device?
Do you have any info on the Note X3?
How long are the batteries on your corne keyboards.
What kind of keyboard do You have?
The writing disappeared due to the smart scribe feature. If you write something and then black it out it deletes the thing you wrote.
Yes, thank you! As I was editing the video last night I did have that same realization.
Thank you! I am thinking of getting the tab x for the size. is there a way to read ebook (for me google books) and (ultimately) highlight and export but that is a couple of steps and doesn't always work......but could you do a side by side with google book/notes and either lasso part of the book and paste in notes? if not I guess it will be as easy to highlight text from ebook and paste in note?
I don't really have any experience with google books. However, with Kindle it is super simple to highlight the portions of the text I'd like to remember or clip.
I NEED THE KEYBOARD, WHERE GET!?
Another super helpful video Geo!
I got the NA3C and I am also not very satisfied and think the NA3 might suit me better. The Supernote looks also very interesting but unfortunately I like the size of the Bigger Tablets + Supernotes is quite a bit more expensive in germany.
Also super cool keyboard and your typing speed is seriously impressive 😅
I'm glad you found it helpful! Do you find you actually enjoy the color rendering on the NA3C? And I've had so many comments about the keyboard that maybe I'll have to do a video on IT next!
@@geolessel
No I did not enjoy the colors, neither the dull look nor the weird rendering of them.
I tried the NA3C as a monitor for coding and it was not usable at all! The latency was unbearable and the weak colors and heavy ghosting made it really hard to see anything. Guess we have to wait for dedicated color EInk monitors for that
I had a scribble on my brothers _BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro_ today and was impressed by the writing feel which is superior to my Supernote A5X, but my user case is 95% text oriented which the Supernote excels at, yet if the battery consumption issue was resolved I could be tempted.
Do you think the Tab Ultra C has the same writing feel as the Note Airs? They do feel nice.
@@geolessel Sorry, I've never used the Note Air so I can not answer that question, but the feel of the Tab Ultra C was consistent.
On my Supernote, possibly relating to differing pressures being applied to the pen while writing, there are times it slides and times it bites into the screen, and that being the case you kind of have to _'take command of the pen',_ not so with the Tab Ultra C as it never bites or slips but remains consistent... I was impressed.
@@karlmunford7000 Out of curiosity, how old was the Supernote you wrote on? I found that after a week and a half of consistent usage, the feel of my Nomad has become MUCH more consistent.
@@geolessel I have own the A5X with the original _'FeelWrite'_ overlay for about a year now, and write on it around 3-4 hours most days, I believe the A6X2 has the _'FeelWrite 2'_ overlay? and I'm _'guessing'_ that the sharper _[for a better word]_ 'peaks' of the more grippier surface are quickly blunted when first used, changing the experience... I've heard quire a few people comment on that.
I went with the Note 3. It solved some logistical problems for me. The color version was more expensive and disappointing. Battery live was not as good.
Thanks a lot for this video. The only think that is bothering me with 3c is the « darker » screen because of the color panel. I prefer reading on my oasis much more because it is more « White ». So if you have an oasis (or Kindle paperwhite) can you compare them with the note air 3 to see if the whiteness of the screen are equal ? Thanks a lot if you can tell me if give me an idea
Boy have I got a video for you! I compare the 3 and 3c directly to my Kindle Oasis here: ruclips.net/video/zdxyO11hX-M/видео.html
Thanks a lot. I did not see it. 😂
when you are in the kindle app. can you annotate in the kindle app with the pen? How is that system? Im an information worker so I read a ton and take notes while reading. The kindle scribe failed me in this.
When you use the kindle app on the BOOX Note Air 3 you cannot write annotations on the page. It works exactly how the mobile app version works. So you can only do some highlighting and type out a note to the text you highlight.
However, the NA3 does allow you to annotate on pdfs and epubs directly on the page as far as I know. It might support other types of files for this type of annotation, but I can’t say for sure since I have not tried it yet.
Hey, great video, just one question, how does the pen feel? I hate the glassy feel apple/samsung tablets have, i was looking for something like the remarkable but with more features. Would you say this is like that?
I recently got the NCA (non-color) and the writing feels pretty good. Nothing similar to writing on an ipad or other glass screen tablet. I have multiple ipads in all sizes and have never liked writing on them, but the N3A feels pretty good when writing. Unfortunately I have never tried a remarkable or supernote so I dont have any idea of the writing exp. compared to those.
@@hbkabs thanks! One quick question, how much time did it take to deliver?
You earned a sub! What is the keyboard called?
Thanks! It is a Corne keyboard.
I'm concerned about how dark the Air 3C looks compared to the AirC. Is the A3C that much darker without the backlight?
Yes. Overall, the NA3C is VERY dim when compared to the NA3. Even at its brightest setting, it is still extremely dim compared to the NA3.
On RUclips playback, is the voice in sync with the video?
I try to get it as close as possible. On this particular video, I think I forgot to do a clap to make it easier to sync up the video. Also, the main feed is recorded at 60 fps (which is also what it is exported at) but the face feed is 30 fps (which means it isn't as smooth as the overhead and it's missing half the frames). That could result in it not looking locked in sync.
Hi/bye! I compared the 3, but I’m very undecided whether to change it to the 3C! I would like to understand basically two things, if the screen of the 3C is so gray as to annoy when reading a book compared to the 3 and if the battery of the 3C is really so quick to discharge compared to the 3, they are my two dilemmas... Thank you if you can elucidate me in my choice...
You can literally see the difference in this video for both the screen an battery usage......
You can turn the screen brightness of the 3c up high enough that it isn't too gray to be annoying while reading (at least to me). However, that just makes it so that the battery runs down even faster. The difference in battery drain between the devices is VERY obvious. The 3c is annoying in how quickly it drains.
@@geolesselThank you for your reply!
The color doesn't seem to me in video (RUclips) so beautiful that it justifies the acceptance of the gray of the screen and the bad battery life...
What do you think about it?
@@zoendav I agree with your sentiment. The color is undoubtedly a cool addition, but I find it too dull and too draining on the battery to be a contender for me.
Hi and congrats! I really need your help🙏 I am between the air 3 and the air 3c. I want to read scanned PDF and the pinch zoom is very Important for me. I saw a Video for air x ( with bsr) and pinch zoom was super, like on my ipad. How dies it perform without bsr??? (Air 3). Please help me on my purchase!!!🙏❤🙏
Thanks for the comment and question! Unfortunately, I have already repackaged both the 3 and 3c for return as I've decided to keep the Supernote.
What about PDF reading experience? I miss PDF demonstration in modern reviews
Thanks for the question! I do cover PDF reading, comparing the Boox Note Air 3, 3C, and Nomad here: ruclips.net/video/PkFbmtx8f7E/видео.html
how long does it take to record all video. i wonder how much time passed from %7 drops in 3c
Good question! IIRC, there was maybe a total of 20 minutes of time between the beginning and end that didn't make it into this video. So the battery drain is pretty close to 2x real time (since the edit of the video is 20 minutes). I guess that would mean the 3C drops the 7% in ~40 minutes.
please info about the keyboard ¿Where can i buy it?
It is a Corne keyboard. There are a few different places you could get one but I got most of the parts for this one at typeractive.xyz.
@@geolessel Thanks . I've been looking for a one. It is very hard to get it in Mexico.
Where can I get an awesome keyboard like yours?
I built mine with parts from typeractive.xyz
WHY can't they make this as a monitor?! Many of us don't need another tablet; we need color e-ink monitors.
Moar Geo videos please!
Your wish is my command!
name of keyboard?
i too would like to know
looks like a custom build, 3d printed etc board. battery is hagning out on both sides etc.
mee too
It is a Corne. Perhaps I will do a video on the keyboard itself!
@@3choblast3r4 it is a custom build but would be considered a Corne.
"promo sm" 🙋
Videos on e-ink... 🤣
Certainly not what I'll be using it for! But it definitely sounds like there are a good number of people who want to watch a video on a device like this.
Bro just wanted to show off his custom made keyboard..
Well, that wasn't the intent but it certainly has generated some comments! Perhaps I will do a video on the keyboard itself at some point soon.
clicked on the thumbnail because your keyboard looks interesting... not interested in the actual topic of the video at all, though.
Well thanks for checking it out anyway! 😆 Would you be interested in a video covering the keyboard itself?
@@geolessel I would indeed; it looks like exactly the kind of keyboard I've always wanted: maximally compact for travel, but with minimal compromise on ergonomics.
@@LiveWire937 Cool, I'll add it to a list of video ideas I'm keeping. I love this keyboard!
Bro complaining about 2% less battery while SHOWING that the lights are wayy up on the colour. And then moving on to show that the colour is set to literally about 10x the refresh rate of the other one. Bro what.
