    This was the comprehensive guide I've been looking for... Really looking forward to my Supernote Nomad arriviving this week. Pretty sure I'll be able to quickly organize myself now without having to fumble through a steep learning curve. Thank you!

      What do you think about it so far? Thinking about getting this or the Remarkable 2

    • @Captain_Diego
      @Captain_Diego 2 месяца назад

      @@harolds.5140 I use mine every day for work between taking notes in meetings or with clients. A portion of my work is based on meeting with clients at their offices so the smaller size has been ideal for traveling. I especially love the ability to “star” something and leave it as a searchable to-do for myself. It took me a a couple days to sit down and learn how it works and find the right templates that work for my day-to-day needs… but I consider it a crucial part of my work tools now. My colleagues use the Remarkable 2 and they seem to like it but I think it’s too big for my job role where I’m traveling and taking notes while standing with a client sometimes. I also didn’t like how simple it was. The Supernote definitely has more to offer if you’re willing to deal with the slight learning curve.

    Great work, Jeffrey. Lots of great detail about an important product. Thank you.
    As a fountain pen aficionado, I am particularly concerned about the writing experience, and whether the new plastic surface is too 'gooey' and sticky

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  7 месяцев назад +2

      It starts off very sticky, too much so. But it gets better over time and by that I just mean a few days. I'll continue working with the device this week and will give my full review on Sunday where I'll try to give a sense of what the screen will be like then. But the trend is positive.

      I'm not sure I will, as it won't be anything different in functionality from the A6X2 and I already have the A5X. If I decide to upgrade, I will do a review, but right now I'm leaning toward keeping what I've got. We'll see how I feel in a week or so after I complete my full review of the A6X2.

    Hi, thanks for sharing the video. I'd like to know if you've noticed any significant improvement in the overall speed of the device. In your opinion, would those who already have the previous version have advantages that justify the upgrade?

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  7 месяцев назад

      That is a great question and one I'm not ready to answer. I'm hoping to compare speed between the Nomad and A5X over the next week to get a full sense of that. I'm just not sure right now. My current thinking is that I won't update to the A5X2 when that comes out, but I'm going to do a lot of reflecting over the coming days and maybe I'll change my mind. I'm hoping to have a full review in a week once I can sort all my tests and thoughts on the device out.

    Hi, will be really interesting to see a comparison between Onyx Box Tab Ultra Mini-C and SuperNote A6X2.

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  3 месяца назад

      They really are two different-focused devices. I'd say if the focus was notetaking, I'd go for the Supernote. If the focus was reading with notetaking, then the Boox is the better choice. Overall, I'd say the Mini C was the better choice at that screen size, because I prefer to take notes on a 10" screen. I'm guessing there will be a successor to the Mini C in a few months, and I'll do a similar visual tour then.

    Great video! Thank you so much for doing it. I just got mine three days ago. I hate that film they put on it. I'll work on it a couple weeks but I may end up removing it because it's just not the actual writing experience… it's how my hand feels when my palm is resting on it, it's sticky.

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  7 месяцев назад +1

      It should get better. Be careful if you do end up taking off the film, as that's part of what allows your ceramic nib on the stylus to not scratch the screen. But if you are using a normal, plastic, nib, then you should be fine either way.

      You mentioned Reddit so I went there. One person recommended taking a damp, not wet, cloth and cleaning the surface I did that. It did remove some sticky. @jeffreymoss  7 месяцев назад

      I talked about it in this video, but I'll give a more recent update. I've started to notice that I no longer have issues in the center of the screen where I do most of my writing. I still have a bit of an issue on the edges, but it certainly appears that the issue is going away. I was in the Reddit forums this morning and I saw similar sentiments expressed by others. So it looks like this is a temporary issue that doesn't take long to work through, as I've only had my device for 3 days now.

    • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  6 месяцев назад +1

      Let me attempt to answer this, and if I miss the mark, just let me know so I can try again. I think I understand your question. The way that Handwriting Recognition works is that it's churning in the background at all times (thus the extra battery drain). When you select the button to see the handwriting conversion, you see that 'behind-the-note'. So the conversion itself does not actually take place in the note. Thus, you can keep writing in the note, and the background conversion will add that to what is already in the note. The way you see the conversion in a document is by either looking at this behind-the-note view or exporting the results into a TXT or DOCX document.

    • @jamessherburn
      @jamessherburn 6 месяцев назад

      @@jeffreymoss Thank you very much. So when I go back to add a detail to chapter one, say, then, what I will edit will be my handwriting. I won't be editing type text until I've exported my file/book out of the Nomad, where I can then tidy things up before contacting a publisher ... theoretically! I believe that I could also edit type text, once it's no longer 'behind the note' and in a new file, in the Nomad, but, I think you're saying, only with a keyboard and not by creating space and adding new material with a pen. More thanks.

As far as your initial comment regarding the pen "grippyness" it is a personal preference but I do understand you don't want the pen to drag too much which can affect your handwriting to some degree. • @jeffreymoss
      @jeffreymoss  6 месяцев назад +1

      My Deep Guide on RUclips actually does tests around this, although I'm not sure if he's gotten to this device or not. Personally, I've found the latency to be more than acceptable for all the devices I've reviewed this year, thus it's not something that I comment on. However, I should point out that I don't sketch, where latency is much more of a factor than is the case with notetaking.
