Woot! This is very welcome. I won't have to use a separate device to read from Pocket, Overdrive, Kobo, etc. Now, all I need is the A5X2 to finally roll out. :) Great walkthrough.

Thank you so so much for this video, it is so easy to follow even for an amateur like me. I now can have both Kindle (pre-installed) and Kobo on my Nomad!!!! Really appreciate your help. I have shared your video with a few of my friends so that they can learn from you too!
Thank you so much, I tried installing apk using webADB and panicked when I can't uninstall some apk that doesn't work. But after watching your video, I feel silly. It was super easy
Thanks for the video! I can’t wait to download load some more reading apps. Have you seen or heard anything on when the “preorders” for the crystal back A6 Nomad will ship? I preordered one but they give you no idea on when it might ship.
Interesting! I've been wanting an e ink tablet that has some illustrating capabilities beyond the basics of what Supernote and Remarkable offer, but without the distraction of easy Google Play access. Do you think it would be possible to side load some kind of screen mirroring app to use the Supernote as a drawing tablet for Photoshop on my Mac?
Hello, loving all the Supernote coverage. I'm still waiting for my Nomad but I'm really excited to get mine. The 1 thing that's been missing to me (if I understand the feature set) is the ability to read manga and news via a lightweight browser so I'm curious if you've tried the new side loading with a lightweight browser so you can consume this type of content? Thank you, Christopher
Wow. Mac software management is a lot like Linux software management (really Red Hat is who built all the first workflow). Of course it is BSD under the covers so, I suppose, that makes sense.
@@BrandonKBoswell Bummer, but thanks for the video! Reader is really the only other app I can think of wanting on the Supernote. I have a Note Air 3C and only ever use Kindle and Readwise Reader.
I gave it a try anyway. Takes long to open articles (usually >15 seconds for me) and it gives up on books. Tried 2 different books but gave up waiting after 5 minutes each. A real shame, I really like Rata and the other features of the Supernote, but performance for side loaded apps wasn’t great.
Thanks a lot Brandon for this. I tried it with kobo apk and I got all the way to adb install with my folder pathname, but it then failed... device is recognised. adb is there. any suggestion what went wrong?
Is this something that needs to be manually updated? What is the version of Reader that your .apk installs? The version on APK Mirror is 5.17.1. Thanks so much for the great and clear tutorial.
This is a good video, I agree that my case is for reading and writing. I downloaded Kobo, Libby and Nook, which look really good. I also plan to try to add Omnivore. OneNote was not something I wanted to keep but test and it was awful. I tried Obsidian as well, which I couldn't get working. Thanks again.
Great video. Thanks. Was previously wondering whether Olive Tree Bible app can be installed in A6X2 … just look for a distraction free, portable e ink reader for reading and note taking
Hi, first of all, Love your vids! Seconds to that a question: I am thinking about getting an eink Tablet for Work and reading/taking notes. I want IT to BE robust and lightweicht. The Problem i have, is that i need one where i can use MS Teams and OneNote on. What device would you recommend If i need those three Apps AS a Minimum...? (Teams, OneNote and Kindle)
I would love to be able to use all my Notion library of notebooks and texts on the Supernote A5X... Do you know if that is possible? Thanks for the project, its goals and all the tips, by the way.
I've successfully added some apps after following this and now my A5 is a lot more useful. Thank you Brandon! However, does Android automatically offload apps (like IOS) to free up RAM or is it helpful to be able to close apps? I have another android e-ink device (Moaan inkpalm) where I can easily close apps. But have not found a way to do it on my Supernote. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
can you try and sideload flipaclip animation app on this for me? I really am curious to see if it works well or not. If so, I'm getting this thing asap. Bonus if you could get any flashcard app sideloaded as well. THANKS in advance!
Good evening Brandon! I’m in the market for an e-ink tablet for work and wanted to give you an idea of my needs to see if you could help me choose one that’s right for me. Could you proved me with an email to get in touch?
Woot!

Just want to thank you for an easy and quick video. It worked and I am so excited!

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for spreading the word!
Excited to see sideloading. Opened my A5X checked that software was up to date (12.14.28) and no sign of sideloading. Suggestions?
you can go to the feedback form in settings and request to get developer permissions for the beta
Thank you for this video! Just wondering if Nebo app is supported.
i installed my remarkable app :) and i love it !
added my email program as apk and now i can send my remarkable stuff to my SN. and i also have my nice remarkable UI on the SN .
That’s a nifty idea. I didn’t even think about that.
And do you think it would work if we install OneNote via APK in SN?
Thanks Brandon. 👍 I didn't know this was a new update feature. I'm a big fan of the app "My Books - Unlimited Library".
Super helpful thank you!
Thank you so much, I tried installing apk using webADB and panicked when I can't uninstall some apk that doesn't work. But after watching your video, I feel silly. It was super easy
I think I bumped into this as well, just off camera ;)

Hi, Brandon, i just wondering, its possible to install Zotero at Super note?
I'll be curious to hear if you get this to work.
Wow. Mac software management is a lot like Linux software management (really Red Hat is who built all the first workflow). Of course it is BSD under the covers so, I suppose, that makes sense.
Yep both are based on Unix so it's not surprising
How well does Reader run on it? Does it take that long to open every time or just the first time?
What you saw there is the typical speed on a fresh open.

Do you need a computer to sideload apps or is there a way to do it with a Chromebook or android?
Would you be able to install and use Notion this way?
You can, whether it would be a good experience is the real question.

Very interesting.
I wonder, could one side load the fdroid APK and then install apps from it?
Yes, I've done it and it works well.
@@BrandonKBoswellThat's super awesome! And enough to make me consider getting a supernote device. Thanks for the info!

I would install pocket cos I usually send articles to Pocket from my smartphone for later reading.

@BrandonKBoswell, the idea is to use a camera like smago usb panoramic camera in my A6X2 and include photos in my notes. Any clue on how to do it?
im curious if superdisplay could work
Would Logseq work?

Hi Brandon,
How is the experience using reader on the Super Note? Are you still using it?
What I will install is a Finance-App that I use. But I only have the old A6x and wait for the A5 or the A4 version.
I would love to be able to use all my Notion library of notebooks and texts on the Supernote A5X... Do you know if that is possible?

Will OneNote work?
Hi Brandon :) Is it possible to sideload onenote? Would it work?
It should work, but I'm unsure about the pen input / latency. I know that Boox did some custom work to try to make it a better experience.
I'm probably going to install omnivore.
Can install onenote?
I would love to install fdroid and nextcloud, then I'd be set
Macbook doesn't have type-a socket, damn!!!
Bought a USB hub and then it was able to detect Supernote in adb devices
Was that Vimium that I saw? ;)
Oh yeah, good eye!
Bro, what terminal app is that!?
Wezterm. It's awesome.
What about Obsidian?
It should work, I just don't personally use Obsidian away from my computer.
Wish it had a frontlight 😢
