@Doom Posterior Oooooh, now I understand flat-earthers.

H Bomberguy axing through the wall gag was glorious.
FWIW, I kinda like wearing masks beyond just avoiding covid. I think I look pretty good wearing one. They kept my cheeks warm during winter and helped stop my lips from getting horrendously chapped. They made seasonal allergies more tolerable in spring. And since I commute via crowded public transit, I plan to wear masks during cold/flu season to avoid exposure for those too.
@IntrepidTit it's insane how wearing masks when sick or during flu season isn't a thing in western countries. It seems like a common sense thing to do.
As a former punk kid who wore a bandana on my neck in winter for years, it was weirdly nostalgic for me
I like wearing them because no 1 tells me to smile
@Harrison Ashley a bandana over the fwce Is like the pop culture symbol for punk's right after the Anarchy symbol and arguably more fitting aha. Bandanas are cheap, keep your face warm in winter hide it from cameras in summer, and a lock tied to a bandana is "definitely not a weapon or tool for self defense" unlike a knife. Go walk around your local downtown and look at the punks (I should clarify I'm talking crust Punks and street kids, not going ones still trying to figure out what punk is about. Find me a travelling punk without a bandana, it's pretty uncommon (ps look at their dog if you don't see a bandana on them, it's probably on their dog)
I like masks too, and I agree with your cool ideas on how we can still use them. Unfortunately I feel really pressured by my dad to not need to wear them in public, ever since covid died down in the us some months ago (and it’s still spreading!). I know it sounds silly, but I have the emotional constitution of a cheap plastic spoon.
god, they have made the area around queen's park unbearable every saturday. No one is stopping your freedom to yell in the park bro, but it'd be a lot cooler if you didn't
Oh man did i get mad one day. The absurdity of anti maskers yelling about their lack of freedom in front of a bunch of cops protecting their safety. Wow. Coming from a post-soviet country or pretty much 60% of the world and seeing this stuff is just..... Yeah I'm speechless.
@@Juststudiothings that's why they're mad, cause the cops are protecting them, these idiots believe that being murdered by the government is the HIGHEST form of a freedom and they won't shut up til they get what they want, pity th cops won't give it to 'em
@@Juststudiothings it’s the same with a lot of people who don’t care for vaccines... they’ve lived so long in a vaccinated society they can’t fathom the devastation of these diseases or illnesses running rampant.

@@maybelikealittlebit i totally agree. It's hard not to want to roll your eyes or just tell people off when you can clearly see the flip side of their "argument". I often get the urge to send these people to another country where these kinds of issues aren't resolved for them and they will have to actually struggle to survive.
It's been incredible difficult to stay open and continue a conversation when this is the truth of the matter and they are too ignorant to understand.
you just don't have the courage to yell in the park
As a Toronto paramedic, I can’t tell you how infuriating it is to be taking a person struggling to breathe due to covid to the hospital, and driving past an anti-mask protest at Queen’s Park. It makes my colleagues and I feel so defeated. We would risk our lives to save those people if they needed it and they don’t have the decency to do something as simple as wearing a mask to control this virus. Thank you for this video, it helps.

I think a lot of it is politics. The libertarian reaction: "The governement is telling me to do something. I REFUSE! GOVERNMENT BAD!"
Reminds me of the long-ago fuss over seatbelts - there was a backlash against those as well, with people complaining about the nanny state violating their right to take their own risks.
Mandatory seatbelts were heavily resisted by massive car manufacturers, so there's no way to interpret the anti-seatbelt backlash other than defending the ultra-rich from paying even a tiny bit more so that people don't die.
"My Body My Choice" isn't an exclusively Libertarian stance. We just don't make arbitrary exceptions. Liberals like the idea of bodily autonomy when it comes to murdering babies in the womb with salad tongs and vacuum hoses, but if someone just doesn't want to be FORCED to wear a mask (that we now know for sure was pointless if you showed no symptoms) by an authoritarian state.
We know for sure the lockdowns did not save lives. This is incontrovertible. And the soyboy in the video just parrots the narrative that this demonstrable fact is wrong, without proof, matter-of-factly, when it's just so clear to anyone with access to a search engine that he's the one who's wrong.
Forget about seatbelts, wait until you find out about what Michael Malice has to say about traffic lights. Yes, we know and understand the position of the authoritarian very well. We all grew up and went through the same idiotic public school system you did. We know the story of how traffic lights supposedly prevent car collisions. We know how to search google to affirm that belief. But, the Libertarians can and have already heard all of your basal presuppositions, why do you think we think we haven't already considered them?
It's really your own arrogance. (See, I can play the ad hominem psycho-analyze instead of steel-man my opponent's position game too)
@@DeimosSaturn I hope that was satire, because that was an excellent deconstruction of the faults of the right-libertarian 'philosophy'. YOU TOUCHED ME!" saying to his phone camera "did you guys just see that? This man TOUCHED me! I could call the police for ASSAULT"
And then the store manager follows him outside and calls the police, which is where you see the video of this whacko yelling "this is a citizen's arrest! Thanks for the great vid! As someone who lives in Japan, where wearing a mask is totally normal and expected when you're sick, or during flu season, or even just because you'd like to cover up a massive pimple, it's been so bizarre to watch the U.S. and other Western nations shit all over themselves about how much they hate wearing them. I don't particularly like wearing a mask every second that I'm in public/at work, but it's a small price to pay in order to live a relatively normal life in the middle of a global pandemic. I've tried to explain to my anti-mask father (who lives in the States) multiple times that masks are very normal and it's only his Western perspective that finds them stifling and invasive, but then he just goes back on bitchute and next thing i know he's derisively calling them "face diapers" all over again.

Unless you're planning to live in isolation for the foreseeable future, "opting out" of public health mandates under the guise of "muh freedom" is selfish. Meanwhile, COVID is free to continue mutating into increasingly virulent strains because people like you represent petri dishes for the virus to proliferate. After all, if YOU can get infected and come out OK or without symptoms that's great!!! Why wear a mask or vaccinate? Obviously you couldn't care less about those around you who might have lesser immune systems or are older or sicker and don't have that same luxury. Again, selfishness is the theme.
Watching this video in 2022 and hearing "We're coming out of the pandemic" is uh...something
My question is why are people still listening to health experts, it's clear they don't know anything more about how the virus spreads than the average Joe. Masks have done absolutely nothing to stop spread, if they worked wed see wildly different curves in mask vs no mask areas because of how exponential growth works but instead we see no change at all. I just don't wear a mask unless I have no other option, I'm triple jabbed and don't care what others think they can have fun with their delusions and be depressed when their security blanket fails them
Weirdly, my ex was antimasker too, but is full anti government, anti religion, anti war, pro choice, anti capitalism (while owning 2 teslas🙄), said was very libertarian and environmentalist..... but anti mask, wouldn't wear condoms, didn't think he needed to get consent before /during sex, wouldn't go down and despite implying was all into kink was pretty much more vanilla than I am 🙄. he was very confusing person. All talk
Ugh... Glad he's a ex 😂
I could understand being anti-mask if you're anti-authoritarian as a very indualistic approach to the idea in the sense of "the government tells me to do x, I hate the government, so I won't do x, fuck you, got mine", but I can't even begin to comprehend where he would justify being a sex creep and (borderline) rapist. Good to hear he's an Ex, hope you're doing better now.

Glad they’re an ex lol. You dodged a bullet

nothing confusing about it
Ah dude, I don't use the word 'cringe' lightly but that anti-mask compilation, Jesus... My neck disappeared. I need to find dental insurance for how hard my teeth ground together. Christ.
This may be an unpopular opinion but I really don't mind wearing masks at all. I'll probably continue using them after this is over.
I am a ballet dancer and ive been doing whole shows and rehearsals in a mask. Its not great, but better than qn entire dance company getting sick :P
Also, it helps my allergies tbh, I live in a big city where the air quality isn't great and it helps a lot 👌
I think if you are sick, it should be normal to wear one from now on.
It's a clever reversal from the 'Powers That Be'™️ ... rather than have us visibly wear a symbol, the lack of a mask is the symbol.
Non-compliance cannot and will not be tolerated, soon they'll move us (critical thinkers) away from you, to specially built camps, for your safety.
And you lot will lap it up, just like those who spat at Christ.
I'll definitely continue wearing them in public transport & at work when I notice that I caught a cold - the coronz and the common cold aren't the same thing (despite what a loud minority likes to say), but even though it's harmless nobody *likes* having a cold. If I can do something to reduce the risk of inflicting an annoying virus on somebody else I'll *happily* wear a mask for a couple hours.
It's very common place in East Asia long before covid to wear masks in public if you have a cold or such.
@IntrepidTit his view is evidenced by you depicting individual human beings as "you lot" and sick/corrupt.
For me personally, I have some different autoimmune conditions and I get moisture build up in my lungs very easily, so wearing masks for a long time is not healthy for me. I could have gotten a doctor's note to excuse me from wearing masks, but that would not have helped me stay Covid-free and alive.
So I solved that by staying in my home as much as possible, and wearing masks +visors when I had to go anywhere.
like any fecking rational adult would do.
I really hate how normal health decisions get politicized like this.
It's like the entire right wing is an angry teen in his opposite phase.
So it doesn't matter how rational an idea is, if an adult said it, they just hate it.
Girl so you’re the reason I had to wear my mask, your inferiority was used to persuade me to “stop the spread”. Meanwhile you were living like a hermit and only stepping out in a hazmat suit…makes sense😂😂
I hate masks. They're uncomfortable, itch on my skin and gives me headaches. I still wear them though because it's the right thing and the safest thing to do.
Me too. They're coarse, and rough, and they get everywhere.
I have a big head and they hurt my ears. Still wore them till I was fully vaxxed tho, and still wear them in businesses that ask me to
I'm a healthy person who isn't infected, I don't need a mask
@@tubeguy4066 yes, it's just polite to do so if the business asks. Maybe they don't have enough staff to check vax cards or the just want to be extra safe. It's their business and they have the right to have a dress code.

Oh damn, stay safe!
I visited Asia for an extended period in 2015, and got used to seeing masks on the regular. Mask on public transit, on airports, while having the sniffles - no big deal and no one looks at you funny, you're just looking out for yourself and others around you. Thus when masks came to be expected here in my home country, I was to say the least surprised by how much value-judgement and ego people can manage to put to wearing/refusing to wear a piece of cloth
Also, not an original so joke but:
For a drug dealer, Ford is terrible at distribution.
This never gets old
My mask protects you, and your mask protects me.
Exactly! Which is why I hate it when anti maskers are like "well you're wearing one so why do you care if I have mine on?"
It's like... Why do you think it is that it's your doctor that wears a mask when he's doing surgery, and not yourself? To protect the other person! 🤦🏼♀️
In a society where it's every man for himself, this is the entire problem
Clinical research indicates otherwise. Might wanna Google “meta analysis efficacy cloth masks prevent covid transmission.” Or even Dr Fauci’s emails.
So long as we wash them frequently and avoid touching them (which the majority of people do not, bc people are gross), they don’t do much harm (unless your respiratory system is already compromised, and then they can) but they’re highly ineffective. I mean, I like wearing one bc it’s kinda weird and fun and absurd...but I also really appreciate science, so I don’t operate under any illusions that they’re the key to safety (on that, I go with Vitamin D, and other well established ways of boosting my immune system).
@@psychegoddessoflight9358 reduces transmission by 30%. That’s massive. It’s not as effective as…not going outside and not living your life, but that’s not practical.
@@MadJackChurchill1312 add that 30% to proper hygiene and generally staying healthy and you'll be fine. Tho it can't really guarantee you safety from the nasty variants. Nobody at my new job wears a mask. In their defense, it's a very hot and not climate controlled factory with 12 hr minimum days. It raises a personal moral dilemma, to be the only one to mask up and set an example or not bother because it's an exercise in futility. Wut do
as long as it doesn't jeprodise your safety (job, personal, etc), I would say stick to your principles. When you reflect years to come, sticking to your principles will always seem better than moving to please others
What's the worst that happens if you wear one? People laugh under their breath? What's the worst if you *don't* wear one? You potentially cause an outbreak outbreak.
@@beansfebreeze the worst case is that I can't see and lose my job because I fuck something up with fogged glasses in a place that largely doesn't acknowledge the disease and thus doesn't supply eye glass wipes for those that choose to wear a mask. This somehow got me thinking about the role of the patriarchy in the whole antimask-thing. It doesn't seem like a reach to say that the role is significant, because if you go by the gender binary and certain aspects of humanity being ascribed to one gender only, you can see how empathy being a "womanly" emotion leads to people glorifying antimask sentiments because it's seen as weak and feminine to care if others live or die. Of course it's no surprise as capitalism and the patriarchy are so interlinked but just wanted to feed the algorithm with an interesting point of view.
One pro-mask talking point I heard early on in 2020 is that many Asian countries, which are more collectivist, have seen seasonal mask-wearing when one is sick as acceptable (and arguably a duty) for ages. But of course, to authoritarian right-wing patriarchal assholes, anything an Asian (i.e. "feminine") country does = bad/weak.
@@juliettebacon1457 that also links to the worsening relations with Eastern countries like China and the rise of sinophobia in the west, helped by our media and general coverage of the pandemic as well as using genuine grievances such as China's laws around Uighurs to spur racial hate towards Chinese people, which helped by the lack of proper education in the west, most people in the west can't even differentiate or name which countries in East Asia are which and so they just direct this generally towards Asian people. And I forgot to mention the anti-communism because people have been so conditioned into hating communism that the thought of giving yourself a minor inconvenience by wearing a mask to possibly save lives of strangers is gonna lead us to communism because capitalism and western individualism has brainwashed so many people into only acting for themselves and being apathetic and disregarding the consequences for others and this endless fear mongering against communism and endless idealisation of 'individualism' has made doing a minor action to help a stranger feel like an alien and wrong thing to do. And these all interlink into one big fear and hate filled bubble directed at anything and anyone from Asia and somehow now masks are bringing us to the brink of communism. Maybe I'm reaching but tbh I think this is mostly accurate.
I’ve also noticed that men are more likely to wear inadequate coverings like gaiters rather than just a regular mask
100% agree. I’ve noticed this gendered interpretation of masks for quite a while now and I wish more people were acknowledging and analyzing it. You hit the nail right on the head. Also relevant: how they sometimes call masks “face diapers.”
