but using inuit people and other indigenous as an example for why carnivore-only diet works and then only eat beef, is so weird considering that indigenous people living within the arctic circle don't eat beef as their traditional diet. their traditional carnivore diets are usually fish, various types of whales, seals, shark, moose, hare, bison, reindeer, and other animals that can live and thrive within the arctic circle. with this diet also comes eating a lot of berries, some fruit trees that can survive harsh winters and a maybe some vegtables and beets. AND they do spice their food up! not in the same way other cultures have been able to, but there are a few herbs, spices and berries that grow up north that are used in cooking.
this diet is a like a fantasy version of what stone age people and indigenous people eat.

As a bodybuilder, lifelong athlete, and 20 year-long soyboy, I find Jordan Peterson's claims to be fucking hilarious. At the risk of humble bragging, I might as well be that illusory image of masculinity that Jordan Peterson claims can be achieved through the carnivore diet. Unlike Peterson, I don't feel the need to prove my masculinity to anyone. Feminism doesn't threaten my sense of masculinity (feminism is good, actually), and Peterson only feels that way because he's an insecure baby who's never been able to live up to his own idealized image of masculinity. I might feel bad for him if he didn't put so much effort into peddling his reactionary snake oil to impressionable young men.

    • @octabunge
      @octabunge 4 года назад +69

Fasting heightens your senses, and it feels great because your body is adapting to invest energy to GO GET ENERGY, when I used it to study was the time I did best in school, it's not particularly terrible as long as you have enough fat and salt in your body to cope, it's obviously not a long term strategy, but there are tons of health benefits to it (but you gotta be mostly healthy first to be able to do it).
I also never did an 11 day fast though know about people that have done 20 water fasts with fasting salts, they were also medically supervised, my longest fast was 5 days but know only do at most 2 days.
Most religions if not all have fasting periods, it's a good treatment for some neurological afflictions, but again, pretty dangerous if done incorrectly

i have depression myself and cried a little at how familiar some of their behaviors shown here were
particularly when she was talking about how right it feels to not eat for days on end? this lockdown, i've stopped running and talking to most of my friends and forcing down at least two meals a day has been my white-knuckled "you shall not pass" commitment (don't worry, I have a therapist, I'll be fine), and I can't imagine how unhealthy someone would have to be to just completely give in to the loss of appetite and self-harming impulses like that. I really feel very sorry for Mikhaila, growing up with a father like that, and appreciate that this video wasn't purely delighted by that spectacle
(also, Anarres Calling is a reference to the Ursula K Le Guin book The Dispossessed, which is deliciously anarchistic and should be read by anyone struggling to envision a post-capitalist society.)

As a vegan, obviously, I don't have any reason to like this carnivore diet thing, but she has an illness and this is what works for her, however, it is more like an unfortunate circumstance that all she CAN eat is beef and that doesn't mean this is suitable for anyone else except for people with the same illness? I mean, if I'm allergic to peanuts (or gluten, or whatever) and feel vastly better if I don't eat them, does that mean no-one should eat them and not eating them will optimize everyone's life and bring them to the top of the dominance hierarchy? No.
I've heard fringe vegans make similar claims, there's one guy here in my country who says that being vegan will take you to a higher level of consciousness, yeah, no, dude, you'll just have more regular bowel movements. diet is not that deep, guys, you won't be a sexy alpha or one-with-the-universe just by what you choose to ingest

I agree with everything you said but this. Diet can be quite deep (not an a peterson-level of course), it is not that easy to get a good understanding, and not everything that seems obvious at first works like that in reality.
Diet has a massive influence on one's psychological constitution, it can definitely help to make one become sexy (though becoming an alpha is not on the top of my list), and with a broad understanding of what is availible, it is sure possible to seriously get down the "one-with-the-universe"-pipeline with psilocybin, dmt and other substances...

@@zacheryeckard3051 That is, concerning the substances I mentioned, completely untrue. It is not to be confused with the effect that psilocybin temporarily lowers the activity of certain parts of the brain while one is under the influence. But there is no evidence of neuronal degeneration or damage by psilocybin/LSD/DMT, in fact, science shows that the opposite is the case.
Certainly, massive overconsumption (which is but extremely rare, because these substances are not addictive) can lead to brain damage, but in a completely different way than you are suggesting. If you overuse them, you may grow to many neuronal pathways where they are not useful, and therefore disturb the general balance of functions in your brain.

Having been to an allergist I was told that some people have very real food intolerances that can't be tested for and the best thing I could do was to keep experimenting. This is not a privileged person and probably doesn't know better. But the people promulgating these health trends do and they don't care. Jordan Peterson gaslights you with evasive, fancy words and wandering narratives, while Mikhaila just grabs you by the throat and tells you how it's going to be. That's my read, at least. Your mileage/reading of them may differ.

As a result she's culled a lot of feminine traits from her persona and shows high levels of aggressiveness and assertion since those are things Peterson hints at being signs of a dominant member of society. She looks, to me, to fear being a victim more than anything in the world which may result in her feeling the need to always be her own cure for her own ills, even if those ills are invented and then conquered all in her head without any real diagnosis or treatment. @@rustyjames1727 alot of anarchist theory agrees that hierarchy has to exist in some form for the nesessity of decision making, but the big sticking point is non consentual hierarchy.
So the question is more if power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, anarchism asks how can we mitigate this?
And it can be easy to say were still animals following our instincts, but i would say that unlike other forms of life on this Earth we uniquely have the gift (or curse) of introspection. To me this allows us to overcome our base instincts in an effort to achieve something we view as greater than. It allows us to think in more abstract ways of the consequences to our actions. To go off topic i wonder if our ability to be rational means we have a moral duty to care for all forms of life which dont have it.
It should be noted that many anarchist dont see anarchism as some form of utopia where people are happier per se, but rather anarchism is the most moral political system that humanity can be under, but this means it will be a constant endless struggle.

His struggle in recent years, as well as his drug addiction and depression, is the author's way to describe how capitalism struggles. #FFF and #BLM is literally killing him. Mikhaila symbolizes the privileged classes who were raised by the patriarchy and trust it. Now she suddenly stands alone (ideologically spoken) and clings to the families fairy tales about capitalism. The goop reference is pretty accurate.

Hey, so I am someone who has been struggling with eating disorders for about half of my life. Looking at Mikhaila, I recognize a lot of the traits typically found in people with eating disorders, namely the depression, anxiety, prolonged periods of fasting, a constant and nagging hypochondria, especially in regards to the links between their diets and their health, and strict discipline towards herself and others around her, including her family. One thing that really sticks out to me about her diet is that bulimics are often told to consume more beef as it is quite difficult to purge. I don't know her and I can't claim to know what her experiences are, but it sounds to me like at some point a doctor put her on a diet heavily emphasizing beef as treatment for bulimia and she just sorta ran with it. All eating disorders come from an subconscious desire to have control - a strict diet emphasizing beef (which is designed to be temporary btw) may have served as a replacement she used to displace her bulimia and/or anorexia. It gives the feeling of control, satisfies your desire for discipline and gives you the sense of triumph you get from setting and fulfilling tasks.
If it is as I suspect, I feel very sympathetic to her and her situation. I hope she can reach out for help from an accomplished professional in eating disorders.

We where foraging in a way that was extremely unnatural to any mammal. We hunted uniquely different then any other predator and developed trading between tribes before any assemblance of language was created.
On top of that most of the stuff that inspires artists from classical to now are things that have been drastically manipulated by human intervention.
