Another quick little fact that wasn't included... did you notice Lars dropped his sticks and ran at the end instead of sticking around for some flourishes? Breaking that pause, he sliced his thumb wide open on the kit and was flinging blood everywhere until the end of the song. Played right through it though!

In articles and interviews from that time, Heftield and Ulrich describe this song as the blueprint for what they wanted the entire "Black Album" to sound like: each song a single riff pounded into the ground. Up until that time, most of their songs on the first four albums were two or even three different riffs stitched together to form songs...some of them quite long. During the ...And Justice for All tour they got quite tired of playing these endless songs. One article even quoted Hetfield as screaming "we're never playing THAT f*ing song again!" (or words to that effect) as he came offstage at the last stop for the ...Justice tour (referring to the title song of that album, I believe). Of course I'm sure they've played it plenty since then, but they took a break from playing it for many years...

Awesome journey into Metallica!! You should react to some of Metallica's blues/hard rock songs from the 1990s. Until It Sleeps; Ain't My B***h; King Nothing; The House Jack Built; Hero of The Day; Thorn Within; Wasting My Hate; Where The Wild Things Are; Low Man's Lyrics; Unforgiven II; Carpe Diem Baby; Devils Dance; Fixxxer. The Load & Reload albums are definitely underrated. Great sample of their musical versatility outside of heavy metal/thrash!

In my opinion Load is much better than Reload as a whole though. Although Reload has it's moments, but I think Load is more consistent throughout. Also I loved the old school Metallica and still do I didn't hate when they released first Black album which I think is great and not when they released Load. I think for some people the change was too much. I think if some other band would've done Load as their first album people might have received it much more positively.

After the Berlin wall came down I think theybsaid this was done in an air field. There wouldn't be a traditional arena or sports venue that could hole 1 million people. I think it was the people's gift to winning their freedom at that point. A concert at the soviet union's funeral and an opening to freedom and new opportunities. It was huge historically and huge as a concert. When the wall fell, electric records wanted to quickly get their name known over there. So this concert had several bands play. But Metallica was epic.

Greetings from Russia! The military (perhaps the internal troops, an analogue of your national Guard) did not just beat people there out of idleness. At one point in the video, you can see how a military man hits a glass bottle with a baton, this is due to the fact that people brought alcoholic beverages in glass bottles with them and after finishing them they just threw them out of all forces in any direction, many people were injured. I did not go to this concert myself, I was young at that time, but our elders all went, the concert was free, so many people came from all over Russia. According to who was there, the scariest and most dangerous thing was to leave there, when it was all over, our guys hid under cars so that the crowd would not crush them. And of course, the energy received at the concert had to find a way out, as a result, commuter trains carrying people from the concert were destroyed.

1.6M was the quoted number...actual estimates near 2M. For context, the distinction between 1M and 1.6M....that 600,000....works out to roughly 9 full US football stadiums (~70,000 a stadium averaged). That's strictly on TOP of the 1,000,000. So to say 1M were there doesn't even account for 9 full US football stadiums on top. Its truly mind boggling! Great review, keep it up! :)
