This video was filmed during a tour when they were still an opening act and hadn't quite blown up yet. They blew up during this tour. Axl mentioned in an interview that at the beginning of this tour there were almost no Guns N' Roses shirts in the crowd, and by the end there was a sea of them.
I was at the show in the video filmed at Giants Stadium in NJ. I'm one of those people first row up on the blue wall at about 8:16, that guy jumping down was near me. People used to jump down all the time to get on the floor. They would run into the crowd and it was fun watching security and State police chasing them. The show was... GNR, Deep Purple and Aerosmith, what a great night. A section in the upper deck the seats were lit on fire during Smoke on the Water. Oh the memories.
Was lucky to be there at Giants stadium that day. It shows just how big these guys were at the time. To have a packed stadium full of enthusiastic fans for an opening act was not the norm.
I saw GNR in 1988 at the Ritz in NYC MTV was there filming and the entire show is on Yt so anyone who wants to see the band at their purest check this show out Drummer Steven Adler was a major influence and was such an underrated drummer He had so much swing groove and funk to his playing like on the last song on Appitite ROCKET QUEEN Steven and bassist Duff lay down one hell of a nasty funky vibe to the song P.C. is another example of thier ability to write longer songs with more sections and riffs in them ✌️😎🧐🤘
I was in the crowd in the 2nd half of the song, filmed at The Monsters Of Rock,, Donington, 1988. RIP to the 2 young men who, unfortunately got crushed during the GnR set
I was at a concert featuring Guns n Roses, Metallica, AND Faith No More, in Orlando, Florida in 1991 or 92. It was IN-FU**ING-SANITY!! Amazing, once in a lifetime show, but I was a little concerned I wasn't going to walk out of there uninjured 😆 Ahhhhh....the good ol days!
Axl and Izzy were childhood friends and Slash was born in Stoke UK but moved to LA young and was friends with Steven Adler in high school & Duff is from Seattle and met them in Hollywood, they were all in different bands before finally coming together.
This was their encore song for the Australian tour in 2017 when i saw them in Brisbane and it was an epic ending to an amazing 2 hour almost non stop performance with massive fireworks to finish it off.
I saw them here in Portugal as part of this tour... and this was their last song after saying good night and leave the stage,,, it was frantic to say the least!
Amazing video and reaction. I 13:15 see them the fiirst time with this video....I was shocked and they became my favourite rock band.....I' d like to come back in this time... I' d like tò see an other reaction for their song " Perfect Crime" live in St. Louis 91 ( riot' s live)..... Amazing Song and performance!!!! ....
The live part in the beginning is at Giant stadium in NJ I'm somewhere in that place BTW Aerosmith was the headline with Deep Purple in the middle with Guns opening those tix cost me 17.50 still have stub
They didn't happen overnight and actually Appetite was a flop when it was first released it became big after they rereleased it. MTV wouldn't play it. It took a lot of convincing from Geffin to get welcome to the jungle played.
Appetite for Destruction was released 2x. The first time it bombed. Then came the Clint Eastwood film Deadpool. They were in the movie and the song welcome to the jungle was featured. After it's great reception the label tried again. Welcome to The Jungle was followed by Sweet Child o Mine. Loved this band and album since 1988
I saw them open for Iron Maiden in 1988, just as they were blowing up. They were good, but unfortunately Maiden fans booed them and Axl walked off in a snit. They finished their set early. Axl started a band he called Hollywood Rose. Eventually he and amazing guitarist Tracii Guns merged their two local bar bands bands, Hollywood Rose and L.A . Guns and became Guns N Roses. It didn’t last, though, and Tracii reformed under L.A. Guns again, and had a lot of success. You should give them a listen. They’re awesome. Still touring today, in fact. Out of the aftermath of the split the Gunners came together. Drummer Steven Adler and guitarist Saul Hudson (Slash) had been friends since childhood and were local boys. They knew bassist Duff Mckagan. Izzy Stradlen rounded out the lineup on rhythm guitar
So Axl and Izzy knew each other from Indiana, Duff came from the Seattle punk scene that became the grunge movement, and Slash and Steven grew up in LA (even though Slash was born in London and spent his early childhood in Stoke on Trent). They got together as a band in LA, and they scraped by, by working odd jobs, stealing, and sometimes managed to get a meal from their stripper friends. That's how they got the fame of being the most dangerous band in the world.
In the late 80s I worked at one of the biggest night clubs in St. Louis. GNR played a smallish venue earlier that night, before they hit it big. I saw four "dirt bags" walking through the club, that had a very high dress code. I went over to the door men and said, "Who let those guys in?" We walked over to throw them out and the club's entertainment director stopped us and said, "This is a new band. They just finished a show," We eyeballed them and left... Who knew?
Guns N' Roses was formed in March 1985 when two Los Angeles bands, Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns, merged. The band's first lineup included: Axl Rose: Vocalist from Hollywood Rose Izzy Stradlin: Rhythm guitarist from Hollywood Rose Tracii Guns: Lead guitarist from L.A. Guns Rob Gardner: Drummer from L.A. Guns Ole Beich: Bassist from L.A. Guns The band's name is a combination of the two previous bands. Before their first show on March 26, 1985, Beich was fired and replaced by Duff "Rose" McKagan.
According to one interview about Paradise City. The lyrics refer to LA and how hard it is to make it in the city. The chorus take me down to the Paradise City is more in reference to Indiana.
I've seen GNR twice. The first time I ever heard of GNR was in Hit Parader magazine back pages "up and coming bands." So, I went and bought a cassette and turned my friends and others at parties onto GNR.
Gun's N Roses 🌹 And Metallica Have So Many Hit Songs And Put Them Out So Fast No One Could Keep Up With Them , lynyrd Skynyrd , AC/DC , Eagles , Idk Led Zeppelin , I Can't Think Of Anyone Else That Done What The's Have Done . . .
No Axl and Izzy came out from Lafayette, met Slash and Steven Adler, Duff was then brought into the band , they lived in storage sheds , strippers houses , this band was not made it evolved , Road Crew , LA Guns ! They were the last real deal of rock/ metal .
It is an epic song off a first album , biggest first album of all time ! Every song you can just let play , no fillers just a wild ride of real music ! Shame they couldnt keep doing that , but possibly in 2025 new old gunners might come out , to Guns N Roses, my advice , pay Izzy what ever he wants and get Steven Adler back i dont care what it takes , just do it , thats the real Gunners Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff and Steven Adler , id pay 10 x to see that ok !
Axl left Indiana in I believe 83, to avoid the local prosecutor trying to put him in jail. Izzy had already moved there and Axl eventually found him, and it went from there
Jungle was written about NYC, watch the '88 Ritz version, whole show! I suggest official It's So Easy 💯🔥 LOVE y'alls channel. Axl and Izzy from Indiana. Steve and Slash So. CAL. Duff Seattle. They formed in 85-86. And the black and white footage is from a rock festival in Donnington, England. 2 people got crushed to death during GN'Rs set 😖
He went allone to LA, played in small clubs with diverse bands/ The other "Guner" too, so they met each other. THE different Groups were known as the LAgang.❤
This was written when they were on there way to preform in Seattle they were playing a very small club and driving a van that had no business being on the road. Well ,yup you guessed it the van broke down and Axel said Fuck take me back to Paradise City. Also Gnr was signed to Geffen records and David Geffen Asked his friend how her son was doing as he used to babysit the kid. She replied you should know.... you signed him. Slash didnt devudlge this info to Geffen as he wanted to signed on his merit not because of being a friend of the family
Fans today get past security, because security doesn't want to get sued. During that time if that fan tried to sue the judge would have told him he shouldn't have been messing around. Today they would award him money from the security service and the band for emotional distress and anguish.
Part of this video is from when they played Donnington Monsters of Rock in the UK.. 2 people lost there lifes when the crowd surged to the stage to watch GNR and they were crushed 😢😢😢
I met them during this tour. They opened for INXS. Didn’t see them cuz I was a DJ and on the air. But the manager asked if I’d seen Axl’s “slither” dance. I said no, so he made the poor guy get up in a room full of people and dance. Axls GF came and drug him out of the room by his ear! Poor guy! ☮️❤️

Some of us lived this. Old but with taste. Concerts will never be the same
Was lucky to be there at Giants stadium that day. It shows just how big these guys were at the time. To have a packed stadium full of enthusiastic fans for an opening act was not the norm.
These bands earned there way to the top . Took chances. And ended up on top of the world 🌎
Guns and roses 🌹 were huge when they came out. Like a breath of fresh air.
I saw GNR in 1988 at the Ritz in NYC MTV was there filming and the entire show is on Yt so anyone who wants to see the band at their purest check this show out Drummer Steven Adler was a major influence and was such an underrated drummer He had so much swing groove and funk to his playing like on the last song on Appitite ROCKET QUEEN Steven and bassist Duff lay down one hell of a nasty funky vibe to the song P.C. is another example of thier ability to write longer songs with more sections and riffs in them ✌️😎🧐🤘
I remember watching that on TV. I was 13 at the time. There was nothing like it, it still hits like 🔥
That's a great show watched it on MTV. ✌
I was in the crowd in the 2nd half of the song, filmed at The Monsters Of Rock,, Donington, 1988. RIP to the 2 young men who, unfortunately got crushed during the GnR set
Giants Stadium held more than 80,000 people, and that place was JAMMED
Seen them only once in concert, awesome song yay, 🤘😆🤘🎸🎸🥁🎤
I was at a concert featuring Guns n Roses, Metallica, AND Faith No More, in Orlando, Florida in 1991 or 92. It was IN-FU**ING-SANITY!! Amazing, once in a lifetime show, but I was a little concerned I wasn't going to walk out of there uninjured 😆 Ahhhhh....the good ol days!
I saw that same tour in July of 1992 at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa. If we only knew what we were witnessing.
I saw Guns N Roses right before they blew up.They opened for Motley Crue in 1987!
I've tried several times to see if I can find myself but I'm one of the people in that crowd it was a hell of a concert I'll never forget it
Me to at Giants Stadium footage.
Imagine hearing Paradise City 40 years later for the first time...
Axl and Izzy were childhood friends and Slash was born in Stoke UK but moved to LA young and was friends with Steven Adler in high school & Duff is from Seattle and met them in Hollywood, they were all in different bands before finally coming together.

I saw them here in Portugal as part of this tour... and this was their last song after saying good night and leave the stage,,, it was frantic to say the least!

You guys should watch their Paradise City performance from Guns N' Roses live at the Ritz, 1988, pretty epic. Actually the whole concert was epic

You need to check out November rain live from Paris. Make sure you get the whole piano intro with «its alright» as well 👍 Axl on his best
They didn't happen overnight and actually Appetite was a flop when it was first released it became big after they rereleased it. MTV wouldn't play it. It took a lot of convincing from Geffin to get welcome to the jungle played.
I got this memories from Munich, Germany - Use your illusion-Tour 93

Appetite for Destruction was released 2x. The first time it bombed. Then came the Clint Eastwood film Deadpool. They were in the movie and the song welcome to the jungle was featured. After it's great reception the label tried again. Welcome to The Jungle was followed by Sweet Child o Mine. Loved this band and album since 1988

Played on air by KXLU, a college radio station for the first time. The show is “Demolisten” and still around Friday evenings.

I was in the Crowd in the second half of the Video at the Monsters of Rock at Donington, they were are on Fire!

I have seen the gunners in the early 90's a few times, and they kicked Ass...
Good MTV video 📸

When did Slash join?
@@josephgilbert3632, Slash had replaced Tracii Guns in 1985 (may have been in June of that year, but I am not 100% sure).
.....thus leading to not one, but, two freaking awesome bands.
According to one interview about Paradise City. The lyrics refer to LA and how hard it is to make it in the city. The chorus take me down to the Paradise City is more in reference to Indiana.
PS Izzy wrote the lyrics to this song. And Slash used to sing it, take me down to the Paradise City where the girls have big ol titties
This video is a classic...!!!
I saw them on that tour in 1988 at a small 2000 seat show in New Zealand.
G´n`R ... my first ever Concert 1992 in Cologne ... DAMN that was one hell of a ride 😂 Still love listening to em 🤘🤘🤘
