Actually Slash got his first guitar from Steve back when they were young punks at the skate park. Axel was friends with Izzy back home. Axel came to LA first and then Izzy followed. (thats the short version)
Duff introduced Slash and Steve to the band. Duff had booked a tour in Seattle the other original members of GNR didn't want to go so they left the band and in came Slash and Steve. Izzy and Axl were friends back in Indiana. Axl came to LA after Izzy took him six months to find Izzy. And Paradise City side note those lyrics were written by Izzy.
Fun fact the shifty guy that met Axl when he climbed off the bus... Is Izzy Stradlin, the rhythm guitarist. In the very next scene Slash, the lead guitarist, is drinking from a bottle in a paper bag in front of the window...

GnR only really had the one album that charted (Appetite for Destruction), which was jam packed full of banger songs. Their EP also charted well, Use Your illussion 1 and 2 - maybe 3 good tracks? The Spaghetti Incident was a sad attempt
Appetite will always be a stand out. But UYI 1,2 do have a lot of good songs. Civil war, YCBM,November Rain,Estranged . Plus there deep cuts like breakdown and locomotive which fans love. Put some respect on UYI 😅
A lot of people I knew in school jumped on the GNR bandwagon...but I didn't like them...still don't....I think Axle's voice is so annoying.
