I'll say that's the best live metal performance ever recorded period. From 87 to 94 Metallica was simply untouchable when it came to performing live - just listen how tight and on point they are with every change-up and transition. Masterful.

To the poster: You should watch the whole gig, it is amazing. Also, it was not only fans of Metallica, it was a festival with 1.6 million people. You should also watch the interview with Lars Ulrich with Conan O'Brien (this was not in the talk show) where he tells about the feelings regarding to the enf oc the cold war and how it felt to be in Russia after that so soon as an American band.

Lars is like a 2-stroke engine. He's not fancy, he's got like 6 moving parts, but goddamit he gets the goddam job DONE.
